The Caledonian Series – Book Two
by Lisa-Maree Patterson

Alix MacLeod thought the war ended when the Black Coats fell, but her mother’s disappearance through the stones has changed everything. With her brother Callum at her side, she journeys to the ancient fortress of the Mackenzies to uncover the truth about her bloodline, her magic, and the place her mother has sent her to search: Orkadia.

In a land where dragons once ruled the skies and the Auld magic stirs again, Alix must learn to control the storm that lives within her. Her brother Marcus trains in the shadowed halls of Dunscaith, discovering powers darker than he ever imagined. Each must face their inheritance—light and shadow, chaos and control, light and dark—before the stones call again.

But the realms are shifting. The fae are hiding. And the ancient prophecy of the twin moons is awakening.

Family will be tested. Magic will rise. And the Auld ones will remember.

⚔️*Arc Review*👑

The second book in The Caledonian series did not disappoint. In Orkadia we leap straight into the action and meet Alix’s other side of the family The Mackenzie’s. With her estranged grandparents help Alix learns how to control her new powers, fly with the giant eagles and gain crucial information about her mother. The love story between Tommy and Alix grows, especially as more of the family find out about them being handfasted in Skye. There is a little bit of mild spice. 🌶️ Orkadia has multiple POV’s which really helps build an emotional connection to the other characters. The elemental magic is explored more in this book as well as more of the world. Whether they were travelling to Mackenzie Dùn, Orkadia or through the stones, it was jam packed with adventure. I can’t wait to see where the story goes and what the Auld ones have in store next. 🐉

✨Thank you to Lisa-Maree Patterson for kindly gifting me this copy to arc read and review. ✨

Scottish folklore, fae, magic and Dragons? Sign me up! As soon as I heard about The Caledonian series I knew I had to read it, and it certainly did not disappoint!

Orkadia is book two in the Caledonian series by Lisa Maree Patterson, and continues to follow Alix as she learns about her family's history. After travelling to the land of her estranged grandparents, it soon becomes clear that her mother had many secrets and she is left questioning what she thought she knew about her mother.

There is plenty of world building and travel throughout both books, but I still found the pace to flow really well and struggled to put the book down. We are introduced to many new characters, and I did struggle to keep up with a few, but that did not hinder my enjoyment. Alix continues to be a badass FMC and I really enjoyed the romance between Alix and Tommy.

If Scottish folklore, dragons and a strong FMC interests you, this book is just for you!

Thank you to the Author and Berry Agency for providing me with an advanced book in return for an honest review.

I got sent this book as an arc after reading Skye book 1 as an arc.
Honestly if I had of had the time I would have read this in one sitting but life got in the way.
This book was an easy five stars for me and dare I say even better than Skye - and I loved Skye.
Orkadia start where Skye finished and I have been waiting for this book for nearly a year to find out what happens.
This book like Skye is beautifully written and is steeped in Scottish lore and magic, making this book magical to read.
I love how this is a multiple pov book giving us a story from different angles.
This book gave me all the emotions, once again fully immersing me into the Scottish highlands and its clans.
I absolutely love Lisa’s writing and will forever champion her books.

If I had to describe this book in one word? Magical!

Orkadia, Book #2 of the Caledonian Series, erupts with even more magic, love, camaraderie, mystery and lands to explore!

This book made me laugh, cry, gasp and hold my breath

While building on the characters we know and love, we are also introduced to new characters that grow the connections of the Mackenzie, MacLeod and Patrick families that add depth to the stories and legacy of each

The journey of Alix’s growth as she builds her skills, knowledge and mental strength for the unknown was so powerful, and her story and connection to her brother Cal really came to life in this book!

Lisa is truly gifted with her own form of magic in the way she brings the reader into the world she creates.

I cannot wait to see more of Lisa’s work and eagerly look forward to when we next take flight in book #3 of the Caledonian Series!

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of Orkadia from Lisa-Maree Patterson and let’s just say it did not disappoint.

For me, this book was better than her first, the pacing flowed well and I loved getting to read from the perspectives of some of the other characters while still following Alix for the majority.

As a lover of romance I devoured all the scenes with Alix and Tommy, especially his little jealousy arc, cue the swooning.

Don’t even get me started on the ending, that was just cruel, and now I am in desperate need of the next book!

I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Orkadia by Lisa-Maree Patterson. This is book two in the Caledonian Series. Book one felt a little rushed because of necessary world building, but book two was appropriately paced. Alix is an incredibly strong female main character who comes into her own throughout the course of book two. If you like multiple POV, dragons, bonded riders, strong family dynamics, and a Scottish highlands inspired world, I would recommend giving this book a read.

Orkadia is an excellent second installment in the Caledonia series!

It jumps straight back in where Skye left off, and boy oh boy, we are absolutely sticking with those mysterious, romantic fantasy vibes.

In this book, our FMC Alix is travelling with her brother Cal to uncover more about her mother’s family and their ties to magic hoping she can hone her own powers and find her ma. All of this, of course, with that pesky war looming on the horizon.

I loved the dual POV in this one! At first I thought we’d only get perspectives from a couple of main characters, but it felt like everyone got their moment throughout the story. As a reader, I found it was such an insightful and exciting way to see the world and unravel the plot.

And the steam? thank you Tommy, you are absolutely shaping up to be a top-tier book boyfriend. I just wanted our two lovers together more because their banter and Tommy’s romantic streak were pure swoon.

I also adored finally getting some answers to the mysteries surrounding Alix’s lineage and all the intricate connections between characters. But dare I say… there are still enough secrets left dangling to guarantee I’ll be first in line for (hopefully!) a third installment. Instant buy. 🙌

I loved this book just as much as the first. The story really deepens here, with higher stakes, more magic, and even more questions. The Scottish heritage and Auld magic were once again a delight and added so much depth to the world.

Alix’s journey into understanding her power was compelling, and I really enjoyed seeing the contrast between her path and her brother’s darker storyline. The themes of family, legacy, and light versus dark are handled really well, and the prophecy elements kept me hooked.

This was an immersive, emotional continuation of the series that left me eager for the next book.

Okadia is an adventure with Alix and the 3 main family groups that continues from skye - the MacLeods, the Patricks, and now the MacMenzies. We set off to the land of the MacKenzies and from there to Orkadia and the Fairie lands. You will feel all the emotions with this book but predominantly wholesome family love with banter for days.
I love how rich and full it is in actual scotish lore this book contains and how researched this is. The places like orkadia, old man hoy, the standing stones are all actual places of the isl of orkney.

The prologue chapter is heart wrenchingly beautiful, showing a loving family bond so strong. desperation. Sacrifice. heartbreaking. So be prepared to have the tissues ready.

This is a multi pov book but is majoritarily the pov of alix. It has some lovely maps that follow loosely the Isles they represent in reality, and having a map is always a good thing.

Overall, i absolutely loved this book as well as the first, and the author has created a fantastic world based on real lore that is easy to follow, full of mysteries and adventure as well as auld world building. The characters are amazing in how they are expressed throughout. And i can not wait to have the next book out.

This is the second book in the series and it was a 6 star read for me. The story and plot keep building from the previous book. The world building was incredible. The family dynamics are relatable and endearing. The dinner with grandparents and the “little” details that Tommy keeps forgetting to mention had me laughing. The ending had me balling my eyes out for pages. I couldn’t put this one down. I can’t wait for the next book.

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book early.

Book 2 of this series is steeped in lore and magic. Alix and her siblings begin to learn more about their history and their magic as they race against the clock and the threat of war. A great story of interconnected families and hidden secrets.

Had some developments following the first book but felt it was lacking, there were too many different things happening and hard to tell the time frame for events. Was hoping to learn more about the dragon and eagles but enjoyed their interactions at least.
