He wants the world and the admiration of everyone in it.
Sean Taiden, the inconspicuous drummer of Reckless Beat, is sick of living in the shadows of his bandmates’ success. He’ll do anything to gain the recognition he deserves. Even if it means dancing in a music video to the Reckless track that drives a knife into his broken heart whenever he hears it. The saving grace is the tempting choreographer who may be the one person able to distract him from the agony his life has become.
All she wants is the peace that comes with solitude.
Melody Jenkins knows all about fame. She knows enough to determine she doesn’t want a part of it anymore. After quitting her professional dance career, she set up a quiet studio and focused on starting a new beginning away from prying eyes. Until a sexy drummer strides into her life, making her crave something she can’t have while also pushing her to expose secrets she can’t bear to reveal.
Conflicting aspirations and one inextinguishable passion.
She needs to hide from the world she once owned. He wants to rise to the top, proving to himself and his friends that he’s always been the heartbeat of the band. Caught between what they need and what they want, Melody and Sean have to decide which is more important—their individual plans for the future or their feelings for one another.
I had tons of notes and highlights for this review but then I said f**k it because basically I HATED these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sean's still in love with Sid and coupled with his bitterness over the fact that he's almost unknown in the band decided to use Mel as a distraction, They start hooking up but he of course develops feelings for her.
"Sidney should’ve been Sean’s saving grace. She should’ve been his shining light and all the fuzzy, wuzzy, fucked-up-picket-fence shit. When she came back into their lives, he’d seriously thought it was a sign his luck was turning around. Even after she hooked up with his best friend, he held onto hope, as deceitful as it was, that she’d change her mind and pick Sean instead." oh what a prize of a man!
My biggest issue with Sean was that he turned into a whining pathetic excuse for a man. He's angry because all the fans scream for Mason and the only groupies he gets to fuck are Mason's castoffs. Wtf!?? This manchild needed to man up,grow a pair and seek to promote himself as an individual within the group( just as my boy Mason advised the dumbass) Bout he started the group and now nobody knows who he is....?boy bye!!!!!!!!
Then we have Mel 🤦Mel was in a motorcycle accident that caused horrible scarring to her left thigh area as such she thinks she's a has been because she won't be able to wear sexy clothes to dance again. See before the accident she was popular attractive and had no problems going after what she wants.We hear about this......a fuckve a lot!!!!!!! Sasha however sums up the old Mel best
“So you haven’t had sex yet?” Sasha’s voice rose. “Oh, boy. That’s not a good sign. Once you’re on Mel’s radar, it’s pretty much a sure bet you’ll get laid. That woman used to be voracious. People sometimes joked that she was a narcissist…no. That’s the wrong word…necrophiliac. Shit, that’s wrong, too… Nymphomaniac.”
Oh for the love of........anyways This Mel misses the adoration and attention she got as a head dancer.No she didn't lose her leg. Why yes she can dance again.... it's just the scars! Wtf!!!!!! this was the most vain pathetic selfish woman I've ever read. I need my h's to rise up! To overcome adversity and stand strong again....?this bitch is wallowing because she's got scars. I tried to be sympathetic but honestly I've read books with women who've had to rise above a lot more than horrific scars so I couldn't even care that one little bit about Mel.
I hated hated hated hated hated this couple and I actually hope that Mel rediscovers her slutty side and cheats on Sean eventually. #sorrynotsorry
I'm always guaranteed a scorching hot read when it comes to Eden Summers' Reckless Beat series. In Sultry Groove, book 4 of one of my favorite Rock Star Romances, this author gives us page after page of hilarious, emotional, and sexy goodness. This is a book I expected to like, and found myself devouring. With the 'realness' of the love story and the emotional upheaval that I went through while reading, this book was the complete package for me. A romance that had me laughing out loud one minute, and having, what I can only call, an emotional breakdown the next - I say, is a winner, and a romance reader's dream come true.
SULTRY GROOVE is about a man who craves more of the spotlight and a woman who wants nothing to do with it. This is about a man and a woman who crave the light, but is forever in darkness. This is about a man and a woman finding hope and light within each other's arms. This is about a rock star who feels invisible and a dancer who will do anything to disappear. This is Sean and Melody's story. It's beautiful, captivating, and it gutted me and healed me in one fell swoop.
I'm a ridiculously emotional reader, as you can tell by most of my reviews. The gut wrenching, heartbreaking, pit in my stomach reads are my favorite. Sean and Melody's story flipped a switch for me. I'm not sure why, and I'm not sure how, but I'm so glad it got to me as much as it did. That's not to say that's all this book was. I mean, it's the Reckless Beat men. They are dirty talking, foul-mouthed, sexy as hell, and stubborn as hell, and they make each and every book the gems that they are. SULTRY GROOVE was clever, hilarious, and extremely enjoyable, helping me laugh through the tears. So get ready to experience every emotion possible while diving into this great read.
A profoundly emotional story that had me distracted for hours on end. A story that hit close to home, surprised me, delighted me, and moved me. Eden Summers had me under her spell in Sultry Groove, so much so, that I never wanted it to end. This series, these characters, this emotional pull I get while reading these books, THIS RIGHT HERE, is why I read. This is why I review. THIS is why these stories stick with me and never let go.
Eden Summers does a great job setting up Ryan's story for us, leaving us wanting more. I cannot recommend this series enough. Every single one of them is a must read for sure!
*Gifted copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*
first to start of with - understated talent !!! this book is a proof for the understated talent that is Eden Summers. Her books just get better and better and I honestly can't wait for the next one, and this one goes one the re-read list!!!
I'm the kind of reader that I highlight the parts of the book, great quotes and scenes ... let me tell you - this whole book ended up being highlighted. its the perfect mixture of all you need and want in a book to fall in love with it - rock band, love trouble, humor, tears and HEA.
This is a story between Sean, the drummer (how hot is that !!!!!! screw Mason /lead vocalist/, I want Sean!!!) of the Reckless beat and Melody, wonderful dancer that is working with our drummer.
Sean, on the first idea, you think of him as your typical rockstar - good looks, obnoxious attitude and women falling all over him
" He wasn’t classically handsome with his wide jaw covered in a light dusting of dark stubble, full lips, and the slight bump at the bridge of his nose, still, he captured her interest all the same. "
-0-
" His smile and eyes would either make or break him. She wasn’t sure which. "
Except this rockstar is suffering from a broken heart and having it rubbed in daily to wanting to start standing out and taking more credit in the band !!!! I say, put the drum set on a pedestal and hit more lights in his face :) but what do I know... this book is about finding out what true love is and what it means to fight for it and for your chance to prove that love.
" He wasn’t going to let her go easily. She was the best god-damn distraction a heartbroken guy could dream of."
Also the book is about a boy growing up and realizing what he wants in the means of his career cause "being famous" or "front and center" is maybe what you think you want but when actually having the thing you want and when you want it ... all the superficial stuff seem stop to matter.
Mel or Melody is this beautiful dancer that is forcing herself to step down and blend in but with Sean's bluntness and being prone to the most ridiculous situations there are ... that just won't cut it ...
" She was a miniature goddess in tight black pants and a pale green lace bodice, with the barest hint of curves to steal his attention. "
-0-
" She did look like a pixie—small, sweet, and innocent. He was spellbound. He’d never seen lips so lush or skin so creamy. Even entranced, he refused to ponder the possibility of her being a drunken hallucination. "
-0-
" In a blink, she changed from shock and awe to haughty and tough. The transformation was like a mental orgasm. She gave a wicked smile, those dark-brown eyes narrowing to consume him, dick first. "
Melody is a beautiful and talented girl that has had it though in life and is now paying the price for it ... or is she hiding from the world and from trying again?
" She ached to tell him. To lay her issues on the line and see how he reacted. She wanted to prove herself wrong, to know that there was a guy out there who wouldn’t think her less of a woman because of her flaws.."
-0-
" She wanted him. He wanted her. As long as she could keep her secrets and maintain her pride, they could continue to enjoy each other. She was going to suppress all the negativity and simply savor..."
In the book we learn what our scars (those in and out side) look to us and to others and what it takes to break the circle and take a go at life no matter what others think ? almost like saying "we see our faults/scars much worse then how they really are" and ask yourself "is this what is gonna stop me to live my life" ??
" Sean deserved to hide his scars, too, physical or mental. She couldn’t judge him for hiding parts of his life when she wasn’t ready to share her own, and probably never would be. "
-0-
" “You need to realize that scar on your leg is a sign of strength, not weakness. Until then, you’ll continue to be ruled by the past. Simple as that.” “Simple, yes. Especially for someone with no clue what it’s like to be me.” "
it took a new job and a boost in confidence in a form of a rockstart to kick things into high gear for Melody but not to the level they need to be until all the walls are broken and you see the light in the s**tstorm that is life
" We all have scars. Some bigger than others.” Blake stepped forward, clutching her hand and bringing her fingers to his lips, exposing her thigh once more. “Just try to see yourself through his eyes.” He gave a sad smile and released his grip. “Ours, too. You’re beautiful, Melody. I hope you figure that out soon. "
The development of their relationship is so real and so emotional that you wouldn't believe that he's a rockstar and she once a world famous dancer. The best part is all the names that he comes up with to call her that give a special touch that makes you love the book more and more ...
" He released a breath of laughter. “I’ve barely started, twinkle toes."
-0-
" “So you’re telling me you don’t like when I call you pixie? Or fairy?"
Soooo, to prevent from me copy/paste most of the book here in this review I suggest you get it and get busy cause let me tell you Eden's books are KICKASS good. its on that level that when you go to re-read the highlights and quotes that caught my eye you end up re-reading the whole thing all over again ... you start and next thing you know, you are reading THE END ....
^^ An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review ^^
I've enjoyed watching this author's writing evolve over each story that I have read of hers, but I had a hard time with this story. I really hated Sean's mentality for the bulk of the book, and felt that it tainted everything he had with Melody. Her secret keeping also didn't help matters, either. Neither of them were emotionally stable enough to be in a relationship, so, to me, their happy for now ending wasn't that believable. I also thought the story ended a bit too abruptly for my tastes. However, the ending did whet my appetite to find out what was going to happen with Ryan and with Leah as well, so I definitely think I will continue the series to the end!
Review-Sultry Groove Summary Sean Taiden, the drummer for Reckless Beat, is in a dark place, the woman he loves is marrying his best friend. And to make it worse, on their engagement party, he is to give a speech, which breaks him even more. Sean has always come second to his best friend, and tries to attempt to drink his sorrows away, and never thought the only woman to keep him from thinking of Sydney…a gorgeous pixie with red hair and a smile to warm his chilly heart. Melody, was a professional dancer, she loved it, she had fame and glory, a gorgeous boyfriend, and her family supportive and loving, she had the world at her fingertips until an accident changed her forever, and she gave up her family, lost the man she loved, and now has to be content to run a dancing studio. She is on a job for Reckless Beat, to choreograph a couple dance where Sean is one of the leads. But their first meeting, he is drunk as ever, never calls her by her own name, and tempts her with a reckless passion….because she would hate to lose the man that makes her heart beat again when he looks at how damaged she is, will Melody have the courage to have faith in their love and trust Sean with every part of herself… The Hero Sean, is the drummer and the heart of Reckless Beat, but in Sean’s mind he will always be in the background. He loves music, loves the band, and has stood by them ever since high school. He loves the beat and soul of their music, but the life they lead, is starting to take its toll on Sean, especially with just about every member in the band happily married and in love, and to lose the one woman he knows can never be his. Sean is a hero with flaws and vulnerabilities which makes the story even better. You can connect with him on a human level, he makes mistakes, has a broken heart and soul, he is beaten and worn down, but he is real and vital, and you sense so much more from Sean. He has this strength he doesn’t know of a the beginning, but you see him become more after meeting his “red pixie”. The Heroine Melody has a passion for dancing, she is talented, and was famous, and thought everything couldn’t get better. She was the center of the spotlight, and she was proud of what she had accomplished and she was living her dreams. But in a motorcycle accident, she was scarred, her whole thigh, and had to have surgery and it still pains her. Melody life changed in that moment, and she knew that she had to give up everything, her family, friends and her dancing, and it tore out her soul to do it. The man she loved rejected her because of her injury, and now she refuses to let anyone know or see her injury. Melody just about broke my heart. She had this carefree and witty attitude but she was also handicapped by her past and her injury. She has certain fears and insecurities, and has this self pity that just about consumed her at times, but you also see this inner strength, a woman who has gone through hell, and pain and grief, but lives in fear of the future and of herself. You see her move past all that and become willing to face those fears to be with the man she loves. Plot and Story Line Sultry Groove is a story that moved me so much I needed some tissues. This was a very emotional one for me, probably the most emotional one I have read from this author. The characters are very heartbreaking, and I found myself spellbound by every aspect of Sultry Groove. But there is also a steamy and lighter side to it too. But the majority of the story we see the true inner parts of human nature, and how our lives can change in one moment. The way this story is written, is very melancholy at times, but it gets to the heart of us, and you feel connected to the characters in a very moving way that you don’t expect to find. What was the most impact was seeing these two damaged souls, come together and find a passionate yet tender love. They are both strong people, but both have suffered in different ways, and both need to heal. We see this happen slowly but surely, you see the growth and the change, and as the story unravels, we see them grow closer, and face certain demons too. It’s a story that you can connect with on an emotional level, and I felt a kinship to these two. They just might be my favorite couple of the series. The way these two fight for each other, and from beginning to end I was overwhelmed, and I loved every moment of seeing these two face their pasts and fears and come together in a glorious ending. I just never wanted this story to end, it was tragic and beautiful, and heart wrenching at times…one of the most satisfying reads I have read in a long time….this is a must read for ANY romance lover, so take my advice…BUY your copy NOW!! The Cover This is just as sensual and gorgeous as all the other covers in the series…but i love the pink background, with the drum set at the bottom and seeing the coupe pose here…Magnifique. Overall View Sultry Groove is a love story that is packed with steamy action, endearing characters, emotionally charged enough to bring tears to your eye, and a tale of facing your fears so you can embrace true love…a tender love story to reach your heart!!
I absolutely love this series. Normally, I read Historical and am very picky about the few Contemporary That I read. When I found the first novel, "Blind Attraction", I didn't stop reding until I was done. I was blown out of the water. The book was everything I look for. It was entertaining with the dialogue between band members, the sex scenes were erotic and well written. You wanted to be friends with the heroine yet were jealous of her because of her man. I quickly read the next four and they too did not disappoint.
I have been waiting for "Sultry Groove" since I read Mason and Sidney's story. The drummer for the band, Sean Taiden, has been in love with the woman that co-wrote their songs, Sidney Higgins for years. He had a three-way with her and Mason, then lost her for four years when the sex tape went viral. Now that Mason has reclaimed her, Sean is devistated. He has to attend their engagement party and pretend nothing is wrong. Sean gets thoroughly drunk as the party progresses. The band manager, Leah, introduces Melody Jenkins to the members of the band and finds Sean passed out. Sean is tired of being the guy in the background, the one that groupies have sex with in hopes he hooks them up with the frontmen. Sean has asked to star in the video for their new single Fighting Against the Attraction. Melody is the choreographer. She has quit dance after a tragic accident and now runs a dance studio. Once Sean is semi-sober, the attraction between them is immediate. Melody is someone he can use to forget Sidney. If he can only remember her name.
Did I say that I have been hooked since the first book? I was reading something else but put it down as soon as I got this ARC. I was not disappointed. The interaction between band members is always hilarious. The reader is left knowing that they are more than a band, they are family. The guys support Sean and Sean respects Mason and does not want to destroy his relationship with Sidney as much as it rips out his heart. Melody has her own scars that she must get past. As the story develops, we get more depth from Sean who was sort of comic relief in the other novels. He is more than the sarcastic drummer as his feelings for Melody develop. The Sean in the previous novels would have cut line and run once he figured out that Melody had scars - both physical and emotional.
This is a series that I have re-read several times. I love Eden Summers edgy writing style. The books are funny yet erotic. While each book has a different member of the band to focus on, the other members still play a part. I have been waiting for Ryan to have his HEA with Leah since book one. The sad thing is I know once Ryan's book is written, the series is over.
I received this book as an ARC from the author, Eden Summers, in exchange for an honest review. Thank you very much for the honor of reading this novel.
I read an arc by the author who I am in fan page with and I was so happy I got to read the book and review it for her. I got hooked on her first story Blind Attraction and they all are pretty wonderful. I am not a typically a fan of rocker books and series but Eden Summers writes such fantastic stories and creates these wonderful characters that I fall in love with them all.
Now while this story is probably supposed to a standalone, you at the very least should read "Undesired Lust" book 3 because the characters and situations spend alot of time on what happened in book 3. The basics from book 3 is that Mason and the hero of this book, Sean were BFF. They worked on this song with Sidney, a wholesome rocker, it got nominated for a grammy or won a grammy, I can't remember but on the night they celebrated teh win, they all got drunk and had a 3 some with her. They taped it and it was supposed to be private but it was not and the whole world saw it. It destroyed Sidney's career and life, Mason who was into Sidney is devestated because Sid blamed him and Sean had a thing for Sidney to. All this happened in book 3. In the end they find out who releases the video and Mason and Sid get together and Sean is left in the cold, which is pretty much where book 4 begins.
Its an engagement party for Sid and Mason who are both very happy and Sean being the BFF is forced to be there and is pretty devestated. So he gets drunk and thats when he meets Melody or Pixie or Red as Sean names her. Melody has been hired as the choreographer for the song that Sid and Mason wrote during their reconcilliation. As you can see book 3 is very tied to this book.
In this story Sean whos is the drummer is ready for fame, he has always had a back seat but he finally is ready to be in the limelight. Melody has been in the limelight for years until an accident made her quit and now she teaches dance and she now is choreagraphing this music video.
They meet and they are instantly attracted. Sean is looking for something to distract him from his feelings for Sidney and Melody is just looking for something fun to make her feel good. They really are both wonderful characters. Despite their heavy emotions about the things in their heart and their losses, they fall for each other in a very fun way.
I was not a huge fan of Sean before. I LOVED Mason and Sid and Sean was their major issue in book 3. But in this book he is wonderful and his whole personality comes right thru. If you like your heroes sweet but also muscley and gruff then you will love Sean. Melody is very confident on the inside on the outside she is very vulnerable and I think they were really perfect together.
The only thing I did not love about this book was the ending. A bunch of stuff happens at the end with Ryan, Leah and the band. No spoilers here. I would have loved an epilogue or one chapter more, but because of what happens I totally understand why it couldn't go on. I cannot wait for book 5 with Ryan.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I received an ARC for an honest review. This book was Soooo worth the wait! This is the story of the guy who feels underappreciated, has the hots for his best friends girl, and has a problem with alcohol. In comes a woman who had all the appreciation she could ever want and now she's hiding because of her scars. This really a love story about two people not only finding out about themselves but also helping one another face their demons.
You get to see Sean as he really is, not just the wise ass prankster. I like to read a series that covers different characters from the first book versus a series of just one couple. Eden Summers has done an excellent job with band, Reckless Beat. I am going to be so sad when and if it's over. I'm sure there are more ways "the boys" can get into some kind of trouble! (Hint, hint)
I've read whole series and my favorite is actually Reckless Weekend with Sultry Groove being my second. For me, these are books I'll re-read over and over again because I think they're that good!
One last thing - favorite line of the book...."you're like a tiny monkey on crack"
READING ORDER (Mitchell & Alana) (Blake & Gabi) (Fun group novella) (Mason & Sidney)
With his thuggish looks and the heart of the sweetest gentleman...
Sean Taiden is the drummer for Reckless Beat. He's always in the background, always getting the left-over attention from the cast-offs of the other, more high-profile guys in the band. They get all the attention, they get all the chicks and Sean's even lost out on the woman he loves to a band mate. He's at his end. He's done with feeling secondary.
So the band and Leah have decided to let Sean star in the newest video. It's going to be just him and a dancer moving their bodies to the emotion of the song.
Enter choreographer, Melody Jenkins. Once an in-demand, confident and driven dancer, Melody has had a disfiguring accident that has left her shattered and unable to continue with her career.
This story is really about Melody finding her confidence in herself and confidence in the love that Sean feels for her.
Which is why I'm wavering a bit on my star rating.
While the story is good and Sean has been a character I've been dying to read about-- and the heroine has a disfigurement (I love that stuff), I have to say that I wasn't feeling the chemistry between these two. I feel like all my stars should be due to the fact that this is a Reckless Beat book and I love each of the characters and the on-going dramas.
After what Sean had to endure in Mason's book Undesired Lust, I was hoping for something really spectacular. Though the potential was there, I think it just lacked that spark that Sean and Melody needed to make me feel like this is a solid relationship.
I felt like Sean was still too hung up on Sidney. I felt like Sean didn't know the real Melody, I felt like Sean's huge heart and desire to be loved was coloring his ideas about her. As a matter of fact, the whole thing seems like a dysfunctional mess waiting to unravel.
If you read Mason and Sidney's story, you know that Sean had some deep feelings there. That continues on in this book--as it should, he shouldn't do an unrealistic 180. But it was disappointing to me that there was more emotion shown over his heartbreak for Sidney than when things were looking rough for him and Melody.
The upside is that there is a lot to keep us on the hook for Ryan's book. I can only hope his feelings about Julie (his soon-to-be ex-wife) don't cause the same issues that I have with Sean and Melody. I've been waiting for this match up for a long time and if it falls flat, I'll be sorely disappointed.
Sean is wallowing in his own misery. The woman he feels should have been his is engaged to his best friend, and they both seem oblivious to his pain while he tries to put on a brave face. Fake it til you make it should be his new motto. But he is sick of being passed over, whether it is via the lack of recognition for his contributions to the band or by the women who just want to use him to get to the his other more popular (although now very taken) bandmates.
Melody may just be the hope and distraction he is searching for although he falls far from the mark of making a good first impression. What he doesn't realize is that he may be just what she needs too. Melody has had a rough year to say the least and Sean is throwing up all kinds of danger signs to her senses, but they have noticeable chemistry right from the start and she can't deny the urge to let go a little bit when it comes to the sexy drummer. She hasn't had a real relationship in years, and most of the time her relationships were more physical than emotional. He is just looking for someone to call his own, someone who will see him for the person he is rather than a stepping stone or name on a page.
These two are a stumbling mess of nerves, anxiety and saying the wrong thing more often than not, but yet somehow they are just right together and have the ability to set the sheets (and any other available surface) on fire! Now they just have to figure out how to get on the same page outside the bedroom. Melody is certain that no one will ever be able to look at her with anything other than disgust due to her injury especially when the shallow jerks she used to call friends gave her no reason to think otherwise, and Sean becomes increasingly frustrated that she won't confide in him even though his own verbal communication skills suck. Non verbal communication is a whole separate beast though- he most certainly has that covered hands down!
Although they each found ways to frustrate me over the course of the story, Melody made me feel the need to reach into the pages and shake her repeatedly until her head settled back onto her shoulders properly. I was right there with her sister in being unable to understand how deeply she let her injury rule her life, but in an industry where the appearance of perfection is everything, I guess I can see it. As for Sean, he was a basic guy most of the time in thoughts and actions, but he had a wonderful depth of emotions beneath it all and was inherently likable throughout the book. My heart broke for him and I was thrilled when he finally gave Sidney and Mason the brutally honest truth about their "help" they so greatly needed in my opinion! There may have been actual fist pump involved and all!
The rest of the band and their ladies are included as well although Ryan plays a larger part than the others in this book. His life is starting to disintegrate before his eyes and he is unable to stop it even as he falls deeper into the bottle. But I love how the guys all come together whether it is to support Ryan or to help Melody fight past her fears. I love this series and definitely recommend it!
*Complimentary ARC provided by the author for the purpose of an honest review.
Out of all the couples in the series thus far, Sean and Melody were my favorite, and not just because the heroine was a dancer. I had no idea that the love Sean felt for Sidney went THAT deep. He called it pathetic, but I found it heartbreaking. As if his love life wasn't enough of a problem, he was tired of being the invisible band member. Of all the guys, he seemed the most...normal. But he did have a few moments that made him come across as a jerk, but I blamed that on his tunnel vision where Sidney was concerned. I was stunned and disappointed by Sidney and Mason's obliviousness to Sean's distress, or perhaps they just hoped it would go away with time and they wouldn't have to talk about it. The irony wasn't lost on me that Sean wanted more fame, and he eventually fell for a woman who couldn't get away from fame fast enough.
I was a little torn about Melody. She was very perceptive early on about being only a "distraction", and aside from telling him about her scars, she was open and honest with him. Her inner monologues indicated that she'd been a completely different person before her accident that left her badly scarred. She used to be flirtatious, confident, outgoing, large and in charge, and at the top of her game. I couldn't blame her for not wanting to expose her scars or bare herself emotionally too soon. After all, I imagine how it would feel to Google the man you're falling in love with only to find a video of a sex scandal. It was one thing to know he was hung up on another woman and another to see or hear him having sex with her. However, I did tire of her pity party even past the 89% mark. Her sister gave her good advice; even Leah gave her a talking to, but instead of listening to them, she turned to her former boss for the confidence boost that never came.
When they were together and forgot the rest of the world, they were amazing. Sean was capable of such kindness and (com)passion, and he was amazing in bed. Their first time was off the charts hot! It was rough and dirty with a hint of dominance. Sean apparently liked a bit of pain with his pleasure and she matched him. The way he tried to help her in the end was a tear-jerker. The author also did a great job of describing the choreography of their dance. Despite some of my grumblings about the heroine, I really did like the story as a whole. It was also less angsty than its predecessors. Of the four books, this is the one I'd read again.
Sultry Groove is the 4th book of the Reckless Beat series by the rocker bad boy master Eden Summers. I am pretty sure it is my favorite of the entire series. I've said that before about this series with pretty much each book I've read, but I'm serious this time. Sean's story has stolen my heart.
Sean is the drummer of the super popular Reckless Beat band. Half of his band mates are settled down and happily coupled, his best friend and lead singer is getting married and the Reckless Beat band is at the top of their game. He should be happier than he's ever been, right? Not so much! His best friend is marrying the woman he's lusted over for years, the band may be well-known to everyone in the civilized world, but as the drummer Sean is overlooked more often than not or even worse he's used to get to the other guys. All of this is screwing with his head and Sean's about ready to give up on it all.
In an effort to spotlight Sean he's going to star in a Reckless Beat video. Just him and a professional dancer dancing to a beautifully written ballad. First he has to learn the dance. Enter Melody Jenkins. She was at the top of her career when it all changed. Now, she's behind the scenes choreographing and training Sean for the upcoming video. Her life has become a series of bittersweet moments. Choreographing for the Reckless Beat band is a dream come true, but not being the dancer in the video is heartbreaking. To make it worse she finds herself falling more and more in love with Sean everyday, but she's hiding so much of her real self from him it's keeping them from ever having a real relationship.
Eden Summers has a gift for writing down and dirty raw dialogue between these friends. These guys make me laugh so hard. Which comes in handy with this story. You'll have these heartbreaking moments that suck you in and then comes these snippets of laugh out loud moments. I don't think anyone can read this book and not be overwhelmed with all kinds of emotion. Seriously, this book has it all! Now, I can not wait to read the next one.
This is another great book in the Reckless Beat series. Eden Summers has brought these characters to life and given them what is needed to get them to where they need to be.
Sean is sick of being in the background and getting sloppy seconds, he wants to be front and centre and get attention but he doesn't realise what this means until it is too late.
Melody has always been in the spotlight and been the centre of attention until a tragedy occurs to change her life. Now she wants to sink into the background and be a nobody.
This book brings out the best in both these characters and makes them realise that they both need each other to lean on.
This was a book that keeps you captivated until the end and makes it hard to put down.
i was given a copy of this book in exchange for an hones review - Naughty Book Eden
What a beautiful story filled with a rollercoaster of emotions. I couldn’t wait to get started on Sean’s book, he seemed like such a great character in previous books and I couldn’t wait to know more about him and get inside his head. My heart broke for him most of the book and for Melody at the end, I found they were perfect together although Melody’s character did confuse me a little at the start. There was just something about her that I wasn’t a big fan of. But towards the end I did start to feel for her and I’m glad she finally got over her insecurities. I loved the interactions between these two characters and especially with all the others, I loved all their humour. Can’t wait to start the next book in the series 4.5 stars
once again eden summers gives us another great read. I loved getting Sean's story. once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I volunteered to read a copy of this book

REVIEW: 4.25 stars---SULTRY GROOVE is the fourth installment in Eden Summers’s contemporary, adult RECKLESS BEAT erotic, romance series focusing on the rock band Reckless Beat. This is drummer Sean Taiden, and choreographer Melody Jenkins’s storyline. SULTRY GROOVE can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order as each storyline builds upon the events of the previous book.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Sean and Melody) SULTRY GROOVE focuses on Melody and Sean as they rehearse for an upcoming video for the band’s latest release Fighting Against Attraction. Sean isn’t is a good place –emotionally or mentally-and watching his band mates find love and their happily ever after increases the unhappiness in the drummer’s life. Sean wants to be noticed; he is sick of being ignored by the fans and the paparazzi; and living in the shadows isn’t doing anything for his rock and roll ego. When the chance comes to star in the band’s latest video, Sean jumps at the chance only to come face to face with the most beautiful but damaged woman he has ever met. Hoping to use Melody as a distraction to everything that has gone wrong in his life, Sean begins a sexual seduction of the choreographer only to realize that Melody is the woman he wants in his life.
Melody is hiding a secret; a secret from her friends, family and everyone she holds close including the man with whom she is falling love. And it is that secret that keeps Melody from the life that she once loved, and from telling Sean the truth about why she no longer dances in the spotlight or in front of a crowd. I will add that Melody’s issues of self-esteem and her need to constantly pull back and away, were both heartbreaking and frustrating.
The sexual attraction between Melody and Sean is immediate but Melody’s first introduction to Sean finds our hero drunk and disorderly as the celebration of Mason and Sidney’s engagement. Sean has always had a thing for Sidney, and tries to use Melody as an outlet for his pent-up need to distract himself from his best friend’s happiness and future life. What ensues is a growing love between Melody and Sean, until both realize that each other is keeping secret something dark in their pasts. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and provocative.
The world building continues to focus on the rock and roll lifestyle of Reckless Beat: the tours, the music, their personal lives, and the potential breakdown of each member of the band. The wall between Sean, Mason and Sidney continues to grow, and with it a much larger wall between Melody and Sean.
SULTRY GROOVE is a Beauty and the Beast storyline where Beast comes in the most unexpected presence. Both Melody and Sean’s egos and self esteem are tightly wound to their talent and career choices, and with it we watch as Melody’s life follows a different path, while Sean gets lost in the darkened shadows of his fellow musicians.
Eden Summers writes an emotional storyline about two broken souls who find one another when needed the most. The premise is intoxicating-you can feel the artistry of the movements in the dance. The characters are engaging, charismatic and animated-their jealousy and rivalries are not unexpected in a world fixated on beauty and perfection. The romance is a slow seduction of body and mind.
This story has a lot of frustration in it. Melody does not like her body because of a scar. It is frustrating to see her repeated denials of her beauty expressed by those close to her. She is stubborn and determined to remain in her dark, depressive mindset that one wants to shake some sense into her. Sean also has determination but he seems willing to change his perceptions when the mental light bulb goes on. Together, Melody & Sean love, talk, argue, walk away, come together, hide their perceived weaknesses and flaws and struggle through their confusing, frightening emotions and finally find the backbone to confront and accept the truth. Delightful story, well written. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.

The story of Melody and Sean is breathtaking and intriguing. It will grab your attention right at the beginning and hold it until the very end. The details were very well written for each scene and character. This book as well as the others are comical in one way or the other and will keep you entertained throughout. I do strongly suggest to read each book in this series in order, because they all circle around the book before and the very first book.

The story of Sean and Melody is a very complex one. Sean is hung up on someone he can't have and doesn't think he gets enough notoriety from the band. With Megan she was on top of the world with her job. Until one day she is in a horrific accident. She goes from being in the spotlight to trying to hide in the background so people won't know her disabilities. Can these two broken souls find in one another what they have both been looking for in life. Can they bring each other to accept what life has put in their paths and move on to be the happy people with each other that they should be. This story shows you how people have to learn to cope with things that people think are holding them back to maybe it is something else like pride holding them back from being the best that they can be no matter what the world thinks.

I couldn't wait to read the next book with the Reckless Beat Band-mates. This book is about the sexy drummer named Sean. Sean is still wanting what he can't have: Sydney who is engaged to his band-mate Mason. So to be invited to their wedding is going to be a nightmare for him, let alone being asked to be the best-man. So at the engagement party Sean decides to do what any other man would... get drunk. He drinks way to much and decides he needs a distraction well in walks Melody. Melody has had some bad times in her life which led to her ending her professional dance career on stage. She is only gong to the engagement party because she has been hired to choreograph the next music video featuring the drummer Sean. Sean and Melody meet and the moves on the dance floor aren't the only hot ones. Can they make this dance last or is this going to end when Sean finally gets the celebrity he craves.
Eden Summers has another great hit on her hands. Sean and Melody set my kindle on fire. Their chemistry and heat is amazing. Even dancing they are burning hot. This book was written so well and I didn't want it to end. I love this series so much. This book is part of a series but could be read as a standalone as well too. I give this book five stars but I wish I could give it more. I loved this story and can't wait for what is next in the world of Reckless Beat
~~~~~~~~~~Sharlene's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Let me start off by saying that I have read some of Eden's other books but this is the first book of her Reckless Beat series that I have read.
Sultry Groove is the 4th installment of the Reckless Beat series and features Sean and Melody. Sean is the drummer for the band which is the theme of this series. He's in a bad spot and not sure how to handle it. Enter Melody who is just as messed up as Sean. The push and pull between these two is intense but not as intense as their love scenes. Holy moly - watch out! The characters are all well developed. The other band members also show up in this book along with their significant others. There is a lot going on in this book but not so much that you can't keep up. I think this would have been better for me if I had read the other installments first. That being said, this book can be read as a stand alone and does have an HEA.
Sean Taiden, the drummer for Reckless Beat, is in a a bad place. He's feeling left out, shoved in the background, and struggling with feelings for his best friend's fiancee.
He was sick of pity. Sick of rejection and sulking in someone else's shadows. Moving on was his only option.
But when he is introduced to Melody Jenkins, his new dance instructor for Reckless Beat's next music video, the red headed pixie offers him a much needed distraction from his current issues. But Melody is also having a hard time after her whole word collapsed. After some serious life changes, she hides her pain under a facade and doesn't let anyone see it. Both have baggage but are afraid to reveal it.
But they have an attraction and spark sizzling under the surface waiting to ignite. They have a flirty rapport and tease each other. But they are drawn to each other and challenge each other.
"Are you always so nauseatingly flirty?" (Melody) "Are you always this reluctant to have a good time?" (Sean)
"Such a stubborn little pixie." "Such a pushy thug of a man."
They fit together well in so many ways--they share passion and compatibility. But they both have secrets and insecurities that hold them back and put up barriers. She especially can't really believe in herself so she finds it hard that Sean would still want her when her secrets are exposed. She just wants to hide away from the limelight and be behind the scenes. Sean has been seeking more of the spotlight and fan adoration. So their professional lives and futures seem to be going in different directions.
I have always liked Sean. He had always lived in the shadows of the other guys. He was trying so hard to find something to make him feel better that he veered off in directions that weren't good for any of them. But Melanie made him realize what he had been missing and looking for. She could handle his bossy, dominant, rougher side, but could appreciate his softer, cuddly side as well.
This woman not only had the ability to distract him from his thoughts, but also the qualities to bring him to his knees.
But her deep fears, insecurities, lack of trust and confidence made her keep putting up walls between them. It got frustrating at times seeing her put herself down and her lack of self worth. This was also a journey for her to find herself, confidence, and believe in others.
She'd been reborn from a confident, in-your-face diva, to a frail and pathetic excuse for a woman. It wasn't an easy transition.
They were both stubborn, strong-willed, unsure of how to be in a relationship, and afraid of baring their darkest secrets and fears and the risk of rejection. But at the same time, they had the potential to be just what the other needed if they gave it a chance.
She was caught between wanting something she couldn't have, and having something she couldn't want. The more time they spent together, the more she ached for it to continue. It was the height of cruelty, slowly pulling her toward a temptation she had to resist.
Once all of their baggage is exposed will they find the courage to come together or will one run away?
I was easily sucked back into the Reckless Beat world and with these characters I have come to care about. This was told in dual point of view that was very important since they kept so much hidden from each other and had such fears. It was humorous, heartbreaking, passionate, and inspirational. They both had past pain and issues to deal with on their own and that needed to be exposed and dealt with together before there could ever be a chance at something more.
This one was predominantly about Sean figuring his life out, but the rest of the Reckless Beat guys are back: Mason, Mitchell, Blake, and Ryan, as well as the girls Sidney, Alana, Gabi, and Leah are all present at times. I recommend at least reading Undesired Lust before reading this one because it gives you more history about Sean, Mason, and Sidney. Mason and Sidney's relationship was still something that Sean was still coming to terms with and they were all affected by what they went through. Ryan was dealing with his own issues in his marriage and their manager Leah has the task of keeping it all running smoothly but even she has a breaking point. I am looking forward to more with Ryan and Leah as this series continues.
I was gifted with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
You will need to have at least read the previous book, Undesired Lust before you read Sultry Groove.
Oh Sean....
After events in the previous book, Reckless Beat drummer Sean Taiden is in a terrible downward spiral. Heart broken, feeling undervalued in the band, he just wants his bandmates to leave him the hell alone and let him drink himself into oblivion.
I swear my heart broke over and over in the first 15% of this book. Seriously, every time I think, "oh it will get better now"... BAM right in the feels again!
Then Melody storms into his life. She is just as broken, just as Sean is.
There is an instant spark between them, though great is meant to be easy. And man, do this pair make things hard! We are taken on such an emotional rollercoaster.
Just as we think that things are going to start going right for our lovelies, something comes along and rips it all away. Well, they do/say something to rip it all away. I just wanted to slap their heads together, tell them to stop effing things up. They imperfections make them perfect for each other.
So, can they pull their fingers out and make a go of this thing, or will they keep up this pull/push thing they are doing?
Nope, for that you will have to read for yourself.
I loved that we got more of the Reckless Beat boys and their lovely ladies. At times I wanted to love Mason and Sidney (Sean's best friend and his fiance) but at other times I just wanted them to go away and leave our boy Sean alone.
What I really am looking forward to now is Ryan's story. Things kind of came to a head with his storyline during this book, and we have been set up for one heck of a ride with his future story.
Can. Not Wait!
If you like your rockers and have not yet met the boys of Reckless Beat, do your self a favour and check them out.
Sultry Groove is the fourth book in Eden Summer’s Reckless Beat series. It is written from a third person POV and alternates between the main characters. It does have an HEA, no cliffhanger unless you count the sprinkling of hints you get about the next book in the series, and it can fully be read as a standalone novel.
This is one of those series that I absolutely love, and it is in my favorites pile. What does that mean exactly? That I’m super picky with the content. I’ll admit that I’m biased with these books but I also expect a lot from them. I expect them to wow me. Sultry Groove did a great job of that. It didn’t knock my socks off like I was expecting or hoping, but I still loved it. I’m glad that Sean finally got his story and his time in the spotlight. I’m also beyond glad that he found someone and got his own HEA.
Out of all the members in Reckless Beat, Sean was the one I first drawn too. I could not wait for his book! So by the time we got to it, I did have really high expectations for him and it was going to take one heck of a heroine for me to think he got what he deserved. Sean has been through so much, he’s been overlooked, bypassed and what not, but the guy has an absolute heart of gold. When I say he doesn’t love easily, he doesn’t. He loves with his whole heart and he would give the shirt off his back of one of his friends needed it. Even people that are beyond loyal get fed up with how thing are sometimes though, and staying in the shadows to make sure that things are peachy for everyone else.
Melody wasn’t someone Sean was expecting to step into his path. Especially not where he was with his frame of mind at the point of the book starting. As for Melody, she doesn’t want to have anything to do with anyone. Just let her run her studio and forget that she was a world renowned dancer. She has secrets and problems of her own to over come, but she is a fighter. She’s definitely a character that impressed me.
Sean and Melody go into this basically not wanting anything from the other. Sean wants his five minutes in the spotlight, and Melody just wants to teach him the dance and walk off. That is, until they actually meet, and the sparks fly. The best way to describe it is that these two fight each other, to fight for each other, but don’t realize that they are doing so. Somewhat confusing to try to explain but it makes for a great read!
I went back and forth on the rating, and settled on four stars. Mainly because it didn’t make me put down the book and squeak happily over it. Sure,I loved it, but I wasn’t over the moon for it. I -am- excited with the ending of it however, and to see the rest of the cast of Reckless Beat. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
(Side note: I seriously forgot I wrote this review, and then had to go back and even checked that I posted it here. I think I'm losing my brain.)
I have enjoyed each and every book in the Reckless Beat series, and Sultry Groove was another fantastic instalment! Sean is a character that I have liked throughout the series, and I was excited to meet the girl who would help his heart heal after what happened in Undesired Lust. The beginning of Sultry Groove was difficult for Sean as I could see how much Mason and Sidney’s relationship was affecting him, but he was soon distracted by his choreographer as they rehearsed for the video clip that he was to star in.
I liked seeing Sean grow and heal through Sultry Groove; his heart had taken a hammering and the time he spent with Melody began to ease the pain. He became more confident, tried to pursue Melody and gave in to each of her demands, just so he could have her. He was sweet, caring and determined. They have a great connection and the chemistry between them was pretty intense.
Melody used to enjoy the spotlight, until an incident shattered her life and her confidence. She used to be quite the confident girl, but now she is hiding, and is unsure of how to let people in. I could feel the turmoil that Melody was dealing with and I hoped Sean would get her out of her sad state. She would start to let Sean in, but would then shut down and turn him away. Sean didn’t want to push her too hard because he feared that he would lose her.
I liked seeing all the other members of Reckless Beat too. Mitch, Blake and Mason are all happy in their relationships. They all continue to bicker with one another, but are always there to support one another. Ryan isn’t having an easy time and Leah is supporting everyone as best as she can.
I really enjoy how easy I can be swept away in Eden’s writing and her character building. In each book I can feel the differences between the characters: their personalities, how they tackle certain situations, and what they do to support one another. Sean and Melody don’t have dominating personalities like some of the other characters in the series. They are both quite reserved and hesitant to let others too close for fear of losing them. I enjoyed how their story unfolded and how they eventually bared their insecurities and let one another in. Sultry Groove ended with me in a bit of shock, and I’m not-so-patiently waiting for more from this series!
I'll make this simple to start...I LOVED THIS BOOK! Eden Summers never ceases to amaze me. She can make me laugh hysterically and make my husband think I'm nuts. And then she can shred my heart into pieces with her emotionally charged words.
I wasn't completely convinced that it was possible for Sean to move on from Sydney. His head is so messed up. He's angry with how his career is going, or isn't going rather. He's struggling with being happy for his best friend. Bottom line...he's an absolute wreck for a while. Eden really put his heart through the wringer!
Melody is struggling with finding a new normal, a new path after her professional dance career comes to a halt. She's stuck in turmoil. Reliving a painful memory every time she looks at her body. After spending so many years in the spotlight, being the envy of every dancer, and glorying in that attention, she's trying to hide from the world. She's hiding from love.
When Sean and Melody get together, the chemistry is off the charts! They are so hot for each other, even when both are so unsure of where things are going. Keep a glass of water with you, the love scenes are smokin'. Even though you want to shake these two sometimes, you can't help but love them, want them to find the peace that they both crave and so desperately deserve. I found myself "talking" to them. Telling them to get their acts together and see what's right in front of them...love! Of course Eden didn't let me down, she led those two wayward souls right where they needed to be...together.
As always you get to catch up with the rest of Reckless Beat. The banter between the band is always a hoot! I love seeing the guys happy with their ladies. Getting little glimpses into their worlds. Except there's one guy, Ryan who still needs his HEA. He's broken. His wife has snuffed out his happiness with her selfish ways. I can hardly wait for his book. I just know that Eden Summers is going to wreck me with his book. And I'll enjoy it every step of the way! Do yourself a favour and buy this book. If you haven't read the series from the beginning, start it now!
What an amazing story for Sean! I am so glad he got his HEA! I felt so sad for Sean being stuck on a girl he couldn’t have. The author did a very good job of describing what he was going through with having to be around her a lot. I loved Melody’s character. She was someone who Sean had to work for and at the same time was able to realize that his obsession with Sid was unhealthy and would not have been a good match for him. Melody suffers from her own personal form of PTSD from her accident. She hides from the world now, instead of being the extrovert she used to be. Sean is able to see past all that and to the woman inside. He helps her see that she is not defined by what happened. She is defined by what she chooses to be. Sean provides some comic relief throughout the story with his outrageous come-ons. When the truth of his obsession comes to light, Melody is heartbroken. But Sean is going to do whatever he has to do to make her realize that she is his forever.
Sean is tired of being ignored, he's the DRUMMER for the band for god sakes! He deserves to be recognized. So he decided to dance in the next video. He meets up with Melody, who is a tough chick. Together they learn a new dance, how to hide their baggage. But the sparks fly and the magic begins. Could Melody make it okay for Sean? Can Sean help Melody lower the wall and trust again?
Sean is still coping with the loss of Sidney to Mason. This made my heart break for him, he hoped for something with her, but now he has to patch himself back up and move forward or forever live in hell with the memories.
This book was amazing just like the other books in this series, but for some odd reason, I really loved this one. I loved how vulnerable Melody is and how you could feel her emotions. Even Sean, he's my favorite band member. I felt connected to him and wanted him step and move forward with his life. Not live in torment. Poor chap!
This has become one of my favorite series and this latest book is absolutely amazing. Sean is dealing with a multitude of issues. He feels invisible in his band and is aching from his one-sided love for his band mate’s wife. Life is pretty hard for Sean right now until he meets Melody. She is the dance instructor to the band’s latest video finally featuring Sean. Melody is dealing with issues of her own and is cautious with her attraction for Sean. Melody is not a stranger to the limelight but after a tragedy she now prefers to stay in the shadows. This was an incredible story of two people who needed each other to fill that empty place in their hearts. This story provides the perfect recipe for second chances at love and life. Not to mention the chemistry between the two was smoking hot. They definitely found that sultry groove.
I had no idea I would like Sean so much but I really did. I felt really bad for him because of all the Mason and Sidney drama, and I seriously hated that they flaunted their relationship in front of him without thinking of his feelings. It seriously sucked, and he deserved to be pissed off about it.
“See.” He pointed directly at her. “That scowl drives me wild. You’re so cute, and tiny, and fragile, yet that show of angst proves you’ve got fire in your belly.” He leaned forward again, glancing around conspiratorially before meeting her gaze. “I’d bet a heavy sum that you’re an angel on stage and a devil in the sack.” She snapped her gaping mouth shut. Oh, he was good. He knew it, too. He must be a major player with a list of slain women a mile long to give him the confidence to blurt out sordid lines like that to strangers.
I really loved Red, she had a lot of issues with herself but I loved her and Sean together.
“Oh, no.” He chuckled. “I’ve been with a lot of women like that. You just make me want different things.” “Like?” He kissed her gently, the briefest brush of his lips against hers. It was barely a kiss at all, yet it slammed right through her. “You make me want slow and sweet.” He kissed her nose, her cheek, then settled his lips against hers. “You make me want things I’ve never experienced with any other woman, Red.”
Sean's story had it all. It was fun like all the other Reckless Beat books, it was super sweet, and had its fair share of angst. And all the steam too!
“That’s not how the song was meant to end,” she whispered, her bright eyes beaming at him, an elated smile curving her lips. “No.” He shook his head. “But that’s how our song ends, Red. There’s no going back now. I’ll never let you walk away. You’ll always be in my arms.” Because from now on, he’d never be able to let her go.
