Yancy Landon was a simple man who lived by a lawman’s code of ethics. He always did the right thing, no matter the cost.
When Cooper Landon vows to find a boy captured by Apache Indians, Yancy doesn’t hesitate to aid his brother. Along the way they get caught up in survival, revenge, relationships, and the code of honor.
I rated this book at four because in a very few places it was a little stale. But the story line was spot on. They sounded like brothers. Only thing is the book on confessions of a gunfight would not download and the sixth book was not available. Makes no sense. But love the book and will look for more by the author. Oukalocka
A TC. Landon Saga Western (5)/Gold/Indians/Rifles for Indians/A Long Chase
TC. Had penned the fifth western novel about the Landon Saga. Fancy loses the Sheriff's election and is immediately sworn into the Texas Rangers. He and Cooper follow outlaws to Indian camp where rifles were to be sold. Their primary mission is to rescue a boy, but numerous other problems this is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Handy isn't much for conversation but he gets the job done. It will be interesting to read the next book and see if Lee and Handy ever become friends. Very intent western saga.
Tell Cotten is a phenomenal storyteller. “Yancy” flows seamlessly with the other four books in the Landon Family Saga. As the series progresses and the family is more comfortable with the west, Cotton infuses a lightness of spirit of men living in the immediacy of the moment while accomplishing some quite weighty tasks. In “Yancy,” the brothers are faced with recovering a child that was taken when his parents were murdered. There’s an awareness of his living on borrowed time and the chance of recovery becoming more distant as time progresses.
My 69-year-old father, is a huge Western novel fan and shared his thoughts with me after reading “Yancy.” He liked the short chapters. He found the story told in Yancy’s voice to be a quick read. He also liked that this novel especially was reminiscent of a production in which the great John Wayne may have played a role. He could easily see the Duke playing either Cooper or Yancy with Gary Cooper as the other brother. The quick and smart banter made the story easy to visualize.
If you are a fan of western fiction, do not miss Tell Cotten and pick up “Yancy” and the rest of the Landon Family Saga today.
This was another good story about the Landon's. The author has well developed characters that are believable and realistic. The Texas Ranger brothers go after a kid who was taken by Apaches. Finding them involved lots of action and excitement. This is a stand alone book, but it would be best to read the others in order.
More good reading from Tell Cotton. A fine sequel to the other books in the Landon Saga. Yancey and Coop pick up a son kidnapped the Indians. Good Fun western adventure.
