Lucilla Greenwood has always obeyed the rules. As the wife of a magistrate, mother to a good family, and an important member of the community, she's never had any reason to defy authority. But when the death of her infant daughter leaves her questioning her people’s beliefs about the origins and evils of magic, Lucilla is forced to defy the laws of God and man in order to save her next child from an unthinkable fate.
I'm a huge, huge, fan of the bound series and just had to have this short story and I can tell you even though this book is short something like 24 pages boy does it pack a heartbreaking punch.
Slight spoiler below for this and bound (I guess ) if you haven't read it .
This book is all about Rowan and her mother how her mother had her magic trapped inside her due to the death of a child before Rowan because of magic though magic I doubt us to blame. Anyway Kate's writing is just perfection, it flows so smoothly it doesn't feel like your reading at all more like watching the story unfold in front of your eyes her writing truly is magical along with this story and bound. Both are stories that leave you totally immersed in the world of Darmid and totally in love with all the characters. A story that is definitely full of heartbreak and will leave you desperate to
I read this short book (27 pages) after completing the Bound Series, it was such a great short story and really helped with some wondering questions. I don't want to spoil anything, if you've signed up for Kate's newsletter you get this wonderful book for free!
WONDERFUL! I love this author! She writes beautifully and is on my automatic purchase list. This is the perfect introduction if you haven't read "Bound" yet and it's a nice addition if you already have. Either way this is a great story. I am now DYING to read the next book in this series. It is the first book on my must have list and is the book that I want to read most this year. I highly recommend both of these books!!!
I love it. It was short and to the point. It shows you how she becomes binding. It was more information and what I was wondering about. Thank you Kate Sparkes. As always you are amazing. I love you.
I loved this! It's very short, but packed with emotion. It really brings insight into the reason behind Lucilla's actions, and it made me hope that she and Rowan will be reunited somewhere down the road.
I totally loved this, it was so great to get that insight into where it all started. It was insightful to realise the heartache that went into Lucille's decision. Could totally read anything and everything about this world at this point. Job Well Done Kate :-D
I liked this backstory into why Rowan's mother did what she did to protect her child. It was interesting to see her point of view and the main mentality of those who live in Darmid and their fear and hatred of magic.
A quick and intriguing look at a very important event before Bound! I highly enjoyed this snapshot and the added depth to Lucilla and the story as a whole.
