Elias Ward thought inheriting his witchy grandmother's house meant dealing with dusty spell books and judgmental neighbors—not a devastatingly charming demon who's been waiting decades for the right kind of heartbreak to set him free.
Vesper has excellent taste in tea, impeccable manners, and absolutely zero patience for Elias's attempts to pretend magic isn't real. When Hell's enforcers come knocking to reclaim their wayward messenger, suddenly Elias's quiet small-town life becomes a lot more complicated.
Between the house's enthusiastic matchmaking (why does it keep locking them in rooms together?), his grandmother's meddling from beyond the grave, and a growing collection of very attractive tentacle-related dreams, Elias faces an impossible give up everything he's ever been, or lose the love he never knew he needed.
Perfect for fans of cozy monster romance and witchy small-town charm. Features a grumpy hedge witch's grandson, a demon with feelings, a house with opinions, and the kind of found family that's worth defying Hell itself. The first in a series of standalone MM Monster Romance novellas.
"Because of the way you made me feel like maybe - just maybe - I was allowed to be more than the story I'd been given."
While straight MM romance is not my typical genre, I really enjoyed this book. It was quick and easy to read and had a really good premise. Any story that has tentacles is bound to grab my attention and this did not disappoint. The interactions between our MCs Elias (Hedge Witch) and Vesper (Monster/Demon Messenger) were great and I loved watching their relationship develop with the assistance of an incredibly sensitive and nosy sentient house. Overall, a good read with a helping of spice and fun antics (I absolutely want a magic kettle to make me tea!).
I loved this book, i am usually drawn to PNR but a PNR MM romance is new to me, and I am here for it! I absolutely loved the banter and the back and forth between the MCs. I love the meddeling grandmother even from beyond the grave. I loved everything about this read!
The dreams were fun, but otherwise there wasn't any real connection/relationship development between the main characters and it wasn't particularly interesting.
Interesting idea but kind of hard to read for some reason. Reminds me of this is how you lose the time war, which isn’t really a compliment from me. Wanted to love but not for me.
