Red-Hot SEALs Novella #1 32,000 words Approximately 120 pages
Bound By Seduction
A woman on the prowl… After three years of grieving, widow Demi Barnes is ready for another relationship—a purely physical relationship. One that won’t involve her heart, interfere with her life or tarnish the love she still carries for her beloved husband. Aiden Winchester, her best friend’s brother, fits the bill. As an active operator within the elite SEAL program, he’s rarely home, and his dangerous career insures she’ll lock down any stray feelings for fear he’ll break her already fragile heart. And then there’s the way his long, lean body, chiseled features and delicious ass launch a full array of tingles, chills and hormonal meltdowns whenever he’s near. The problem? Aiden’s barely aware she exists.
A SEAL on a mission… Aiden Winchester wanted Demi Barnes the moment his sister introduced them, but she was married and off limits. After her husband’s death, he battened down his hunger and waited for her to open herself emotionally. But when he discovers the woman he’s lusted after for five long years is about to embark on a rebound fling with someone else, it’s full steam ahead and all ammunition on deck. The only man Demi will take to bed—or on the kitchen table or up against the wall—is him. And it won't be a short-term fling.
A double-edged seduction… On the battlefield of desire every advantage counts, so when a persistent admirer turns stalker, Aiden grabs the opportunity to move in with Demi under the guise of protection. The two square off in a close-quarters battle of the heart—but when the passion settles and the sheets cool, will their connection prove fleeting or permanent?
Aiden Winchester fell for Demi Barnes five years ago - the minute his sister introduced them. The problem? Demi was married then, definitely off-limits. Tragedy struck a couple of years later when Demi lost her husband to a freak accident. Aiden helped her get through it as a friend and then left on a three year assignment with his SEAL team. He hasn't forgotten Demi nor has his desire for her diminished. He's back home and ready to make his move - before someone else does. Has he waited too long?
Demi is tired of being alone - and she's ready to take a lover. Her sights are set on Aiden - the gorgeous SEAL who is her friend's brother. Dressed to kill, she heads to the bar where he often goes, hoping to run into him by "accident". Much to her disappointment, he isn't there and after a few too many, another guy takes her home. Through a comedy of errors, Aiden learns that his roommate has been with "his girl" and goes bad*ss, possessive, alpha berserk! The story that plays out is intense, sexy, and funny. I loved Aiden & Demi as they sniff around each other!
Bound By Seduction may be short on pages - but it's not short on story. What a great set-up for a spin off series. Snarky, sexy banter sets the mood as these two characters dance around each other. And the sex scenes?! Wowza! I can't wait to read more! A Must Read!
I didn't actually get to the smexing, I got to the point where I disliked the hero's attitude enough - he's a s**t to his roommate and assaults him over the woman he wants without giving his friend a chance to talk, and he's overbearing with her- I like alpha not aplhahole - plus injuries from that fight hold off the smexing so there wasn't that to distract me. I've liked other of the Red Hot Seals books, but for now at least I am moving on from this one.
Read for a group challenge. I haven't read any connecting books so this was the first one. Seems to have a supernatural hint with the healing ability. Not sure about the pairing. FMC dresses for seduction. MC finds out and she plays the friends with benefits card. Same with the MC going all caveman. Not sure what Tag did in his previous relationship but ouch on this one, you gotta feel for the guy, he did protect her. Neighbour was creepy, acting out as soon as the suggestion was there. Easy read, short with sex waiting until the end.

While this novella definitely sets up the romance between Demi and Aiden, there's certainly more to tell. Because they're both determined in their own way and right now their expectations on where this affair is leading differ greatly.
(Honestly, Demi might be strong-willed and able to hold her own against Aiden, but my money's on the tough-as-nails SEAL when it comes down to this romance.)
We get to meet more of the guys who make up ST7 (I like ALL of them, to be honest, and wouldn't mind getting to see them each find their special lady friends), watch an overzealous suitor brought down a peg or two, and get some smokin' time between the sheets with two people who are more than ready to get frisky.
I really enjoy these books and hope we get many, many more chances to see how hard these warriors with a little something extra fall when they meet the right person.
I really enjoyed this short novella. Trish McCallen can weave a lot into her books - even short ones. The story kept me engaged way past my bedtime (I am not going to be happy when my alarm goes off at 5am). I really liked Aiden and Demi from Forged in Fire, so I was happy to see them get together and now I want to know more about Tag and Tram. Yes. I'm one of those readers never satisfied and always wants one more book featuring secondary characters.
Edited to add: after speaking to the author this book actually takes place just before 'Forged in Ash'. I would probably class this as book 1.5 in the series.
This is my 3rd book by this author and these novellas that are like in between I guess you'd say tie together familiar characters with less of the action and suspense from the full length. Demi is a widower of 3 years. She had been attracted to Aiden since the day she met him10 years ago when she married her husband. This is brought up to show how the couple fought their feelings.
Aiden acted indifferent out of respect for his friend Donnie and Demi always felt he just didn't feel the same about her. Aiden however knew they shared the attraction. So now Demi husband is dead 3 years dead so why has she not approached Aiden? I kept asking myself. #1 if she kept remembering their first encounters and killing batteries in her vibrator how strong was her feelings toward her husband? Or for that matter was she fantasizing about Aiden those 10 years while still with Donnie? Interesting note the metaphysical element injected intot the story. Aiden has visions that has no common trigger but leaves a lasting effect. His sister Kait has the healing touch and than there is wolf he has a gift too but I have not fully figured out what that is. I believe maybe his healing ability is similar to Kaits but works more on an emotional level. The novallas are like fillers inbetween the full length books Even though they are stand alones you get a better understanding by reading them first.
This made me feel like it wasn't that great of a marriage so why so much drama surrounding her being able to move on. That brought me to #2 why did she stay married she admits at one point that Aiden seemed much more adventurous sexually. She was not shy as Aiden knew she had no embarrassment with her sexuality. Really? I just questioned the reason with these points why she waited so long because that's a long time to wait when there was no kids and after the surprise of his death would show you how short life is don't waste it.
I know it seems a lot of belly aching but truly it was all because I loved the chemistry between the couple and felt bad they wasted 10 years of their lives when it was so clear they were meant for each other. Also we are lead to believe it's a done deal with them being forever but it is not said out loud. I feel they deserved better by the author but who knows maybe in later books it is spelled out. This was their book and should have been given in this one so I did take some stars off due to the issues I had.
Amazon lists this as volume 1. I've brought it up before because I am confused why there are so many #1's in this series and on here it is listed as 2.5. There is only one brief moment of danger in this book as most is about taking a chance on love and letting go of the past. Enjoy!
This is book 2.5 I think in the Red Hot Seals series. This book is about Aiden Kaits brother and Demi that lives in same apartment building. This book just focuses on the very start of their sex buddy relationship and how Aiden finally approaches Demi. Really enjoyed put did realise this is just a quick introduction and not a complete book which is very annoying when you get to end. Hope don't have to read a million books in series to finally get HEA for them.
This is a novella set in the Red Hot SEAL's world with Adrien (who we first meet in book 2). This was a good start to his story. I enjoyed this a lot. Liked both the heroine and the hero and will definitely read this branch off series.
Great book, hot and spicy. Until the ending. Or shall I say lack of ending. It just stopped. I honestly was shocked. I expected a few more chapters at the very least. Will they stay together, won’t they? Will Chester be a continued issue looking for revenge?
I knew this was a novella going in, so I didn’t expect to have this long drawn out story. But what we got, I felt so cheated. I can’t recall what exactly put me off of the main entries into this series but I know that I didn’t absolutely love them. This book was shorter, yet so much better than the full length novels, It was just getting really good, then all of a sudden it just stopped. Talk about a striptease.
I loved Aiden and Demi, they were such engaging characters and very likable. I loved how Aiden was an honorable man and didn’t have a wandering eye. I loved how Demi stayed true to herself and didn’t sleep with a nice guy JUST to say she accomplished having sex again. The buildup to sex, the tension, the teasing, was on point and made it so much better than just quick and raunchy sex with an overload of dirty talk thrown in for kicks. These are the sex scenes that I enjoy, this is the relationship I want to see play out fully, these are the characters that I want to know inside and out. I’m so disappointed that this is all we got. I feel really let down that it ended so fast and that their story wasn’t completely explored like the others when it’s so much better.
The ending was left open to your interpretation for the most part but it does hint that a healthy relationship is the direction they’re going in and directly states that Aiden doesn’t want just a fwb fling with her but will play his part until she falls for him. This was what I didn’t like, the story centers on her being adamant about keeping it physical and him willing to wait for her to realize they’re more than that. So many loose ends were left unresolved, the symbolism of how she wears her ring, oblivious to who really bought her the condo she dreamed of, resolving his fight with his teammates, the sudden discovery of his new “gift”, and a sincere declaration of love from both sides. I desperately want a full length novel of this couple and how the rest of their story unfolds. I’m begging the author for Demi and Aiden’s full story and to please put me out of my misery of not knowing. They deserve their own novel.
*side note* I reread my reviews of the other books in the series and it seems that abrupt endings are this author’s downside in her writing.
I had this in my library to read for a while. I wasn’t missing much. At least it was a quick read. Not much went on to hold my attention and much of the story was skimmed through in boredom.
I found neither character very likable. Aiden was full of himself and ridiculously overreactive. For someone concerned about a neighbor being too possessive, he had little room to talk.
Demi was all over the place. I don’t know what exactly the author was trying to portray her as, but she came across as a mess and not very likable. Was she a grieving widow trying to force herself to move on to a new life? Was she having a mid-life crisis? Was she just a sex-starved nymphomaniac?
The whole thing was just silly. Maybe it would have come across better if I’d read the two series that spawned this crossover novella, but it was definitely not good as a stand alone book. Many reviewers complained about how the story just stops, with no real ending or HEA. I was just glad to be at the end. I have zero intentions of reading more by this author. There are plenty of other military romance books to choose from. By the time I wrote this review(minutes after finishing the book) I’d already forgotten the heroine’s name. Generous 2 stars. Can’t say I recommend this by one.
So...make sure you're reading the disclaimer at the beginning of the synopsis. This is a novella and shows their "budding romance." This isn't their full story and though you're left with a HFN, the characters' relationship is still up in the air. They are both attracted from the start however she is only looking for something temporary and he has been in love since she was married to another man (though he was respectful about it.) Siiiiiigh. Gotta love when the guy falls first amiright? She's a tease but it's fun. The ending is very cute but definitely doesn't satisfy everything you want for these characters. I looked at the author's site and the full book appears to be titled Bound By Seduction but doesn't appear to be available on Amazon. There are so many other books out there Idk if I'm going to make the effort to find it. But this was a good, short read Something I did NOT see coming was the undercurrent of Arapaho magic in the MMC and his sister. He apparently has premonitions and his sister can heal people. So that added a little something and I'm sure the author has even more plans for that in the full length book.
If you read the blurb, you should know that while this is set in the Red-Hot SEALs world, it's not a direct part of the four part series, and takes place shortly before Forged in Ash. If you're thinking about reading Forged in Ash, I'd suggest reading it first, not because it's necessary for this book, but because this book has what I consider some (relatively minor) spoilers for early events in Forged in Ash.
I love the way this author mixes humor, heat and suspense, and this book is no exception. Aiden and Demi have always had off-the-charts chemistry but the timing has never been right for them. That changes as Demi is ready to get back in the saddle as Aiden is back from deployment. There are a few bumps and bruises along the way, some of them literal, as the two finally start to make good on all the heat between them.
A quick read, hot and funny with just a touch of suspense, this is a great prequel (it ends on a HFN) for the full-length novel the author has promised for Demi and Aiden. I, for one, can't wait. 5 stars.
Demi is finally ready to move forward from her loss of her husband three years ago. Her choice of man to do this with is Aiden, a SEAL who’s been away for almost that amount of time.
Aiden has also wanted to be with Demi, but through some miscalculations, they both kind of mess things up. When they do finally get together, it’s right for both of them.
Then, it stops. The problem with novellas like this are that things go along, then end abruptly in the middle. It’s jarring, and tempts me to give 2 stars, but the story is still so good until that ending, I’ll keep it at 3. Add 100 pages and some tension in this relationship, plus a happy ending, and it becomes a 4 star book.
As per usual of me, I read this series out of order starting with Bound by Temptation, then Bound by Deception and finally Bound by Seduction which doesn't hurt as all of the books are stand alone reads. However, had I read Bound by Seduction first, I most likely would have stopped there.
Bound by Seduction is a ten-year booty call. Unlike BBT and BBD, the story is one long, lust driven race to the finish line which ends exactly as predicted with no suspense or urgency to drive the plot. The story could also easily be perceived as a role-playing game for adults which is questionable because the main characters, Aiden Winchester and Demi Barnes are pretty juvenile.
Unmemorable and nothing to lose sleep over. I am looking forward to Tag's story in Bound by Obsession.
After three years of widowhood, Demi Barnes’ mind body and spirit are all read to take baby steps back to the living. Demi’s chosen operator Aiden Winchester for this all-important maiden outing but didn’t tell him. Aiden’s been lusting after Demi since they met but couldn’t overcome their obstacles… she was his sister’s best friend and her marriage. He’s been patient.
The night of Demi’s debut, Aiden was otherwise occupied and she chose differently, though there were no sparks, she chose Brett Taggart. Huge obstacle! Brett happens to be Aiden’s roommate. And now that Demi’s ready to swim in male infested waters, Aiden is going to make sure she knows he needs to considered. To hell with that obstacle, it isn’t one! Rating: 3stars
Worth a read if you love the series which I do but this book was a bit of a let down. It started off really well but then Aiden the hero of the book just came across as to demanding which meant I lost attraction. Demi was really likeable. The ending was so abrupt and in the middle of a scene that I honestly had to check in case I was missing part of the book. Yeah we can assume they get together but at the point this book ends both characters are still pretending to want casual sex without commitment. This story feels unfinished and rushed. Hopefully others in the series don't continue the same
It's an enjoyable but far too short read and in places refers to things that are not explained such as Brett's past relationship with Sarah and why it causes such animosity. Aidan a navy seal has had the hots for Demi for years even when she was married, after her husband died he secretly took care of her planning to make her his when the time was right. She set out to seduce him when he returned from deployment it didn't quite turn out right and the who!e thing caused a fight between himself and his team mate. Eventually they do get together and the fireworks begin. However the story is left a little in the air and could have been more .
Read as: Hearts Under Fire (Operation: Hot Spot Book 1) I’m finding it a little hard to classify this book because it’s sort of stand-alone, but it’s also not. There are references to events and people that I’m guessing are from the sister series: Red-Hot SEALs, that feel a little out of context within this short read. However, the chemistry between Aiden and Demi in this book is absolutely explosive. You can feel the energy drawing them together, it radiates from the page. I also really loved all the little moments of silliness that are sprinkled throughout the story. This leaves them in a good place, but I definitely want to know more. I read a borrowed copy of this book.
Omg. I can not believe the book ended so quickly. I was dying to know if Aiden and Demi have any other encounters with Chester and if Aiden and Demi end up together before his next rotation as I know he moves into another apt with other ST7 brothers. Why didn’t he move in with Demi and does he really not trust Tag anymore? So many questions!!! That’s why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars. Ended WAY too soon!
OH MY GOD. Leia a resenha completa no Pausa para um Capítulo.
Quick steamy read! Demi and Aiden "noticed" one another a decade ago. But she was unavailable. Now he's been patient long enough. She may have started the ball rolling when he wasn't around but he's the one who's going to stake his claim and score big time. They both go to great lengths to convince the other that theirs is a purely physical arrangement...no strings or commitment attached. Ha! Good luck with that!
This is a great short read and perfect to devour on a nice quiet night. This novella features Aiden Winchester, the Navy SEAL, and Demi Barnes, the owner of a gourmet coffee stand. These two have had an eye on each other for years and she is finally ready to move on after the death of her husband. We have growls possessive alpha males, a sniveling not so alpha male, a fist fight with injuries, hilarious flirting and some hot steamy scenes.
So this was a really good read, I was totally enjoying it, things were going great - and then it ended. There was no resolution, no HEA, no meeting of the minds between the H and h....nothing. Nothing that indicates this will continue in another book. Now I’m really irritated.
I enjoyed getting to know these two more, however, the ending felt incredibly anticlimactic, like it wasn’t even an ending. It still feels very up in the air as to whether Aiden will be able to convince Demi his is a forever thing. It’s a disappointing ending to an otherwise good story.
