As the situation on the island goes full satanic supernova the priests are forced to make some tough choices if they are to have any hope of survival and to ensure the evil of the island does not escape out in to the wider world.
I read this via prime reading so it's essentially a "free" read, so I don't include it in my usual single issue lists/reviews.
The story comes to a somewhat abrupt but satisfying conclusion. It's quite refreshing/cathartic to have such a blunt solution after what seemed to be a quiet search for a "peaceful" solution. This issue is much more "from dusk to dawn" than a "love conquers all" story.
The artwork was strong throughout particularly with the possessed and the action. The colouring is unlike anything I've read (with the experimentation of 3 colour palettes in some Batman books in the late 90s) in the sense it's black and white with the orange or purple saturating depending on the time/location. It even accentuates the "cliffhanger" ending which switches to green.
I'd happily read a sequel and I'm also curious as to what other work this team may try in the future.
I like conclusions to be exactly what they should be: an end to a tale. I certainly don't mind the door being left open for more when it is this good but it should always be completed on some level.
As with the other issues both the writing and the illustrations as well as the overall structure and stylings came together in powerful storytelling.
