At fifteen, Amy witnessed her father brutally murder his secret lover, and her testimony ultimately sealed his fate. With her father safely behind bars, Amy and her mother are left to pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives under the long shadow of a notorious crime.
Years later, while working in a restaurant, Amy meets Oliver Harrington—a man who, much like her, carries a troubled past he’d rather leave behind. Amy finds herself drawn to him on a deeply profound level, feeling an instant spark of understanding and connection. But while it has all the hallmarks of a blossoming romance, something far darker may be lurking beneath the surface. Is it true love, or the start of a dangerous obsession that will pull Amy into a web of deceit and violence? As secrets begin to unravel, she is forced to face a heart-breaking reality: where there is love, there is often betrayal.
Adele Parks always excels at building layered, complex relationships, and the dynamics in this book are delightfully uneasy. The connection between Amy and Oliver is full of tension and unspoken history, making you constantly second-guess everyone’s true motives.
As expected from such a consistent author, the writing is top-tier. Parks crafts a wonderfully gripping psychological thriller that pulls you in right from the start. The narrative maintains a strong, steady momentum that keeps you hooked as the truth looms closer.
Eyes on You is another solid, brilliantly written read from the ever-reliable Adele Parks. Filled with intriguing, uneasy character dynamics and plenty of psychological suspense, it’s a gripping tale that fans of the genre will thoroughly enjoy. A solid four-star read from me!
I would like to thank both Netgalley and HQ for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

It’s safe to say Adele has done it again, albeit with a much darker story than we are usually used to with her writing.
Right from the beginning the tension and intrigue is evident, the differing chapters providing insight into the present day, merged in with flashbacks for several different characters. It sounds complicated but it is flawlessly executed so there is never any confusion as to the character outlook and the timeframe in question.
It is a slow-burn start, the reader building up their impression of main character Amy before the second half of the book picks up the pace as secrets are revealed and we approach the climatic conclusion. I specifically enjoyed that the book opened on the ending, so to speak, which meant you knew what happened to an extent, but the journey to find out more was definitely an interesting one!
The ending might not be exactly what you expect, the build up really does make you think a little bit more is coming but nonetheless the concluding chapters do tie up all the loose ends. A very clever book that I throughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend, especially if you enjoy Adele’s writing.

I was looking forward to reading this one, being drawn to the synopsis and bold, eye-catching cover. I have previously read another book by this author that I enjoyed, so was hoping this would be another entertaining domestic thriller. I found this was another well written, compelling read, however I didn’t enjoy it as much as her previous book. My main issue was the pacing, as I found the first half very slow, where I struggled to keep engaged in the story and it felt more like a family drama than a thriller. Saying that, the pacing improved towards the end and I did enjoy the conclusion.
I found there were some good twists and turns, while I also enjoyed never quite trusting the characters and having a feeling that something wasn’t quite right. Although I enjoyed discovering the character’s dynamics, I struggled to connect to them at a deeper level. Despite these issues, this was still a solid read and would be good for those looking for a slow burn, well plotted story, which comes together in a satisfying way. I would still be interested in reading more by this author. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.
Guys!! When I say you are not ready for Adele Parks’ latest book ‘Eyes On You’, I mean YOU. ARE. NOT. READY!! I finished it last night, and it has taken me this long to be able to put a cohesive review together. I am SHAKEN to my core in the best possible way and I think that this might just be her BEST YET!!
The moment I started this book I knew I was hooked, it’s Adele at her finest. I was reeled in from the very beginning, and she didn’t let go until she had delivered one final twist which had my jaw on the floor. When I say twist, I mean twists PLURAL… the twists and turns that ‘Eyes On You’ delivered left me with a severe case of whiplash, and I’m not lying when I say that I spent a lot of the time picking my jaw up off the floor.
‘Eyes On You’ marks Adele’s 26th release, and it’s been so incredible seeing her evolution. Her writing is just as bold as ever; it’s provocative, it’s powerful, it’s compelling, but most of all, it’s truthful. Every character Adele has ever written is always relatable, and it’s just as true with this book. I could not put this book down and, once again, if it wasn’t for adulting, I would have finished it in one or two sittings!
‘Eyes On You’ is exceptional, it’s amazing and such a thrilling ride that will have you in a choke hold from the beginning and will not let you go until the incredible end! Thanks so much to HQ for sending me an early copy! It’s released 27th August and I urge you to put your pre-order in if you haven’t already. This is one not to be missed! Incredible!!
When waitress Amy sets eyes on investment banker Oli, she knows he is the man for her. But she must hide a deadly secret - she's the daughter of a notorious murderer who has been in prison for the last fifteen years. Oli, too, is keeping secrets. Will the pair make it through, or will things turn dark? Well, this is Adele Parks, so I think we know the answer to that one! This was a really good domestic thriller noir, with an intriguing plotline and a very sympathetic main character. Amy may have plenty issues, and plenty faults, but no-one can deny she has her challenges to face. Oli, too, is an attractive character - the reader is never very sure of his truthfulness and sincerity, but his vulnerability shines through, too. The book opens on a tragedy, and then the narrative toggles between past and present. Sometimes the voice is Amy's, at other times, her mother's, lawyers', police' and sometimes even her father's. But the thread of the story stays strong. I was on the lookout for twists and turns in the story, but I have to admit I didn't see a lot of them coming. Fast-paced and enthralling - definitely one of Adele Parks' best books.
A book that got me irritated about a certain theme in the book but then without giving any spoilers it was a waste of getting irritated time, turned out it wasn’t relevant, which was good but then irritating again…..😁
That said it was never a consideration to stop reading it as the writing was too good, the wordy ( words packed into a sentence, paragraph ) could not be hurried over as every word linked to another that made a feeling, a nuance or a description, all too good to be missed, I love a book where a character is in a situation and is ‘doing one thing’ but thinking and telling us another, and this book is a great example of that
Not particularly characters to love but more characters to kinda empathise with and understand why they are like they are
I would say give this book a go and see what you think but keep an open mind throughout and enjoy the use of words and meanings and all the situational dialogue while the story develops
I liked this, but I love Adele Parks so much that I think this book suffered a little because of the super high expectations I had for it. I was hooked in the beginning and really enjoyed following Amy and Oliver's budding romance. There was a great feeling of tension in the writing and I looked forward to working out how everything fit together.
I did enjoy the journey that the book took me on, but I felt like I was constantly waiting for a big twist or reveal that never came. The story was interesting, but it wasn't surprising, and the tension at the beginning felt like it should be leading somewhere a bit more exciting.
I did really like the writing style and as I mentioned previously, I think that had I not gone into this thinking it would be one of my favourite books of the year, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. 3.5 stars rounded up.
I was immediately drawn in by the intriguing premise of Eyes on You and found myself hooked quite quickly. Unfortunately, I felt the story began to lose momentum as it moved throughout the book.
There weren't any particularly surprising twists for me, as I could see where the story was heading, and I also found some of the flashback chapters a little unnecessary and underwhelming. I felt sorry for Amy at times, but she also frustrated me enormously – there were several moments when I wanted to give her a good shake! Oli didn't quite work for me either. His character seemed to change so dramatically towards the end that I struggled to find him believable.
That said, this was an easy and enjoyable read, and I liked the writing style. While it kept me entertained, ultimately it wasn't a book that I think I'll remember for very long.
I loved it. At fifteen, Amy witnessed her father brutally murder his secret lover. Her testimony sealed her father’s fate. This is a layered and tense psychological thriller with a plot so twisty, I was gripped.
Hannah is only 15 when she has to give evidence as the star witness in a murder trial: her father’s trial for murdering his mistress. As an adult she has moved on, changed her name and is deeply sad and isolated. One day, Oli Harrington walks into her work and a troubled and tense relationship develops. Who is keeping secrets and who is lying?
The plot was pacy and tense, keeping me gripped. I loved the unreliable narrator slant and was shocked by the twists and reveals. Obsession, betrayal and complex relationships made for a riveting read.
My first Adele Parks and will not be my last. Thank you to the publishers at Harrogate crime festival for the proof!
An extremely sad story that highlights the impact of crime within families and how the repercussions can continue for many years. Tom Smith was convicted of murdering his wealthy mistress while working as her gardener. His wife and two children had to live with the constant intrusion into their lives from the media. Neighbours shunned them or abused them. Eventually the son moved away and the daughter changed her name to escape the attention. As the story develops the outcome seems to be inevitable as the horrifying truth of the past emerges between the daughter Amy and her boyfriend Oli but as this gradual relationship progresses and reaches a shocking climax, a final massive twist is revealed.
Hannah Smith was fifteen years old when she saw her father who was a Gardener murder his employer who he was having an affair with. Hannah now thirty years old, now called Amy works in a noodle bar when Oli Harrington walks into the restaurant. They realise they soon have a connection and start a relationship together. Little do they know that they both have secrets that have a connection to both of theirs past. This is the second book that I have read from the author, and I really wanted to like this. But I found this to be really slow and only realised what was really going on until 49% of the book. Then the storyline ramp up a bit with lots of twists and turns and it did have a enjoyable ending. 3.5 stars from me.
I really wanted to love this one, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to her previous books for me.
The story was intriguing and started off with plenty of promise, but I found the story quite slow in places and struggled to connect with the characters. While there were a few twists, they didn’t have the same impact as I’d hoped, and I guessed some of them before they were revealed.
It wasn’t a bad read by any means I finished it and was interested to see how it ended but it just didn’t have the suspense or excitement I’ve come to expect from her. Sadly, it’s one of my least favourites by her.
Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins for an ARC
15-year-old Amy witnesses her father murdering his secret lover, and her statement helps put him in prison. Amy and her mum then have to carve out a whole new life for themselves.
Moving forward 17 years, Amy keeps relationships with men at arm’s length; she uses them for quick flings then discards them. One day, Oli comes into the restaurant where she works, and she falls for him instantly. Of course, Oli is carrying secrets of his own.
Another gripping read from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Books for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.
3.4* This is for the most part, a well written, absorbing, tense psychological thriller. A few of the plot twists were a bit obvious in their outcomes, but how they were attained were quite cunning. Where the book ‘lost the plot’ a bit for me was the climactic chapters, set in an old house ( the only mini-spoiler given, I promise) which felt quite contrived, as were some of the ‘reveals’ that came after this. Some of the characters’ behaviours were never fully explained too, I felt. I would still recommend it as a good read, though.
I was a little confused at the beginning of this story as one or two headings were missing but once I got into the characters and the time differences it soon became clear - or as clear as it could be with the story as it unfolded. The damaged people in this story lead to quite upsetting sections well handled by the author. It is a definite page turner, with plenty of twists and turns. Many thanks to Netgalley/Adele Parks/HQ for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.
Hannah Smith was just fifteen years old when her gardener father murdered his employer. The crime has cast a long shadow over her life, leaving her so burdened by the past that she has changed her name and spent years trying to distance herself from it.
Now in her thirties, Hannah works as an assistant manager at a noodle bar and avoids forming close romantic attachments. Things change as soon as Oliver Harrington walks into the restaurant. She feels an instant attraction - but how long will it be before her tragic past catches up with her?
Eyes on You is a gripping thriller that starts at a measured pace before steadily building tension with each chapter, barreling towards a pulsating climax. As Hannah is forced to confront the consequences of a crime she did not commit, the novel explores themes of guilt, identity, and whether it is ever truly possible to escape the past.
This is only the second Adele Parks novel I have read. The first was quite a long time ago, but Eyes on You has certainly left an impression on me.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a detailed, character-driven thriller with plenty of suspense. For me, it was a definite five-star read.
Thanks to Edelweiss Plus and the publisher for giving me an ARC of Eyes on You.
Eyes on You is a psychological thriller that centres on Amy a young woman haunted by the childhood trauma of witnessing her Father commit murder .When she meets enigmatic Oliver Harrington their shared emotional scars draw them together but the relationship gradually becomes entangled with obsession, deception and long buried secrets. Although slow at the beginning the pace soon becomes gripping ,a wonderful clever story with a very good ending .Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC.
Amy a waitress meets Oli in the restaurant where she works. She is instantly attracted to him and they start a relationship, but not everything is how it seams and someone is keeping secrets. A psychological thriller with some twists and turns. Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was ok. I found the first half of the book incredibly slow and I thought about giving up but it did get better as it went on. Some of the the revelations were obvious, some slightly less so but I found that I didn’t really care. Amy/Hannah was not a likeable character and I found myself just reading the book to find out what the ending was meant to be.
Eyes on You By: Adele Parks Pub Date: August 27, 2026 Publisher: HQ
The title and author grabbed my attention immediately. When Amy was a teen, she saw her father murder his lover. She sent him to prison with her testimony. Feeling safe Amy and her mother tried to rebuild their lives.
Later in life Amy meets Oliver Harrington and he also has a dark past he wants to forget. A strong connection us formed, but something wicked is about to happen. Did Oliver meet her on purpose?
This story drew me in until the final page. Danger is every where and you have to figure out what is what. Another hit by Parks.
Entertaining, but a little bit slow in the middle. I definitely enjoyed the way the whole story came together and it had some elements of surprise that I wasn't expecting. It was less of a thriller like I was expecting. More of a mystery in my opinion. Still a good read!
