Book #1.5 of the Runaway Home series.

(Pierce can be read as a standalone but it is recommended you read Harbour first.)

Pierce, he's every woman's fantasy, except he likes men.

Always putting people first, Pierce has spent most of his life as a bachelor, playing the field but keeping his heart out of it. Of course, he didn't count on HIM.

Finally ready to settle down, Pierce falls for a man who is confused about his sexuality.

What would you do to prove you're worth the risk?

How hard are you willing to work for your happily ever after?

Luckily, Pierce loves a challenge.

(This book is MM and contains sex scenes, language and lots of other fun stuff.)

While I did enjoy the story, there were things I didn't care for. Although I am a fan of 'love/lust at first sight', every once in a while I like to see a couple who don't always click, relationship-wise, right from the start. This book had a bit too much off-and-on for my taste. There was a little too much "sex with the wrong person" happening as well. The writing style wasn't my favorite either.

**I did NOT read Harbour before reading Pierce**

******

POV ... 1st person

Stand alone or series... part of a series but CAN be read as a stand-alone

Would I recommend it ... maybe

Did it give me a book hangover... no

Would I read it again ... not sure

When I first picked up Harbour all those months ago I was enraptured with Harbour's best friend Pierce, loving, protective, loyal, he's exactly the kind of best friend I've been blessed with in my life. Pierce runs parallel to Harbour, while Harbour is a world away finding love and a new life, Pierce is living his corporate life in downtown Melbourne, having been around the block more times then he'd like to admit to Pierce is intrigued by the idea of finding the one and settling down.

When his firm is contracted and he finds himself answering to Noah Connors, Pierce might have just met his perfect man. Despite the instant attraction and physical chemistry, Noah is engaged to be married. Things are not black and white, this isn't just a story of love blossoming in the workplace, sexual ambiguity and a man not ready to disrupt the image he has carefully constructed leaves Pierce struggling to reconcile what he wants and what he needs.

Pierce for me delved into the world of MM relationships with poise and courage, I've seen friends struggle to come to terms with not only who they are, but with coming out to family, friends and work colleagues, reconciling family expectations with what they know to be true. Sacrificing what they want and need for the good of other's around them. Where Pierce has grown up in a loving family, surrounded by parents who loved him regardless of his sexual proclivities has meant he's never had to pretend to be anyone other than who he is, however for Noah, with a strict and conservative upbringing and a don't ask, don't tell relationship with his father, hiding has become second nature. With the demise of his engagement Noah is presented with the opportunity to learn more about the side of his life he's never freely admitted to.

There's a quiet beauty in Louleas's story, two men who are undoubtedly attracted to each other and only one who is sure of who he is and what he wants. There is no doubt that homosexuality is more wildly addressed and I dare say more accepted in today's society, but coming out to one's family I don't think ever gets easier. Noah's fears and reservations in regards to openly discussing his sexuality have had a crippling affect on his entire world, unable to let people in, unable to trust others and scared to take a chance.

This story is about so much more than just a MM romance, it's about two people overcoming demons, struggling to fit in, when clearly they were born to stand out. Pierce has a special message about embracing who you are, fighting for what you want, finding the strength and courage to let someone in, when all you want is the shy away and wallow in your own grief. Pierce is a story of acceptance and celebrating who you are. I don't want to label this book as MM, I want to say it's contemporary romance and leave it as that, I feel like by having to define it's sub genre we strip away to whole beautiful message Louleas leaves us the reader with. Love is Love and as is evident in Pierce, when you find it, it's glorious.

5 ABSORBING & ADDICTIVE STARS

Penelope Louleas you have blown me away with this gorgeous man Pierce. He has literally stolen my heart.

The anticipation of Pierce was by far one I was most looking forward to reading. His POV was charismatic, he is magnetic – you will be so drawn to him that you will never want his story to end. Ms Louleas - you DID NOT disappoint. Loved every minute that was Pierce.

He is one sexy, successful man who knows what he wants – or does he?

Pierce had me laughing out loud and gasping for air at times. I loved him inside and out.
A beautiful story about two people learning to conquer their demons, overcome society pressure and just fit in.

But as you will find out – these two are clearly meant to stand out.

Pierce
Before I can answer, Macey bursts through the door, carrying my sandwich. “Thanks, sweetheart.” I give her a smile and then it quickly drops from my face when I realize how much more awkward I just made this situation. Noah raises his eyebrows, looking from the sandwich to me. I exhale and shake my head. This guy needs to sort his shit out; I don’t play games. Gay or straight, pick a team mate. “We went to my apartment. As you can see, I decided to skip going out for lunch. A better offer was presented to me.”

This is definitely a MUST READ. It is so much more than an M/M Romance. If you love a romance, then do not hesitate to get your hands on Pierce – literally.

I can’t express how much I loved this story. I devoured it completely. It consumed me – literally – consumed me. I want my own Pierce.

It taught me that you need to embrace who you are and to fight for what you want and believe in. Never be afraid to accept who you and to try and be strong enough to let that someone special into your heart.

All it takes is LOVE – Love is love no matter your gender, color, race or who you are.
Simply addictive. Pierce will leave you breathless and wanting more.

So proud of you Penelope Louleas. Pierce is simply a beautiful, sexy love story.

Understanding the pressure to fit in, the strength to be truthful with yourself and the compassion of letting your heart speak all wizard a beautiful love in the novella Pierce by Penelope Louleas. The heart whats want it wants and Pierce ignited a love between two alpha male personos Pierce (Harbours best friend from Runaway Home #1) and Noah that silhouetted a whole new dimension of romance I hadn’t explored as a reader.

I won’t be the first to say I haven’t read M/M novels before but along came Pierce and from the very minute he grabbed the attention grabbing balls of the reader as Harbours best friend we were hooked in wanting more and Penelope delivered what truly will be known as a beautiful take on love, same love.

A simple love is one shared by two equals, we are all born, we all grow up and the acceptance of Pierce and Noah’s story is about defining where your heart lies. The heart of the story didn’t form that it was an M/M, because it didn’t matter; the heart was a love of two people who through travesty, dark pasts and self expression learn to love themselves and their counterpart. Pierce drew a dominant line into facing the fear of the feelings of heart where Noah because of his cultural upbringing was helm to a depth of deprecating feelings of what he TRULY wants.

The perspective novella is told in Pierce’s POV with the depth of Noah explored in his upbringing and the in-tangent waver of feelings. Same love is the song that is on constant repeat transpiring the lyrics to Pierce and Noah’s heart. As Noah pushes and pulls his feelings close to his chest, Pierce truly defined a character that I fell head over heels for as an inspiration of the depth of M/M woven within. I highly recommend reading, it’s a treasure of pure heart with the message of same love, and a love story that will leave you in shivers. TOTAL Love! 5 Highly Recommended Stars!

As soon as Pierce was introduced in Harbour, book one of Penelope Louleas' Runaway Home series, I wanted his story. I wanted to know the mystery man who was giving this sexy and suave businessman a run for his money. I had an inkling in Harbour's story about the man who owned Pierce, and when it was revealed in his story, the pieces all started to fall into place. I knew from the get go, though, that Pierce's relationship with a man who is still in the closet was going to be trying for a man like Pierce. Pierce accepts who he is; he owns his preferences, his choices, and he needs a partner who is the same way, but that doesn't seem to be what he gets when he falls for this man.

Pierce is an amazing best friend; he goes over and above for Harbour. He's her lifeline and her fairy godmother, but he's so much more than that. He's fierce in his loyalty to people, and he's perceptive enough to know that he can't change or coerce people who don't want to be. He hasn't been in a serious relationship for quite some time, and he wavers between remaining a bachelor or settling down, so the mixed messages he receives from the one man who may be able to sway his decision is a problem. Pierce deserves a man who is 100% committed to him, and he's not sure if he's willing to wait for his mystery man to decide where he stands.

I'm so glad that Penelope gave readers Pierce's story. There is some overlap between his novella and Harbour's story, but because readers get it through Pierce's point of view, it adds another perspective to all of the events that occurred. I have to admit, though, I did want a bit more insight into Pierce himself. There's still quite a few questions I want answered about his past and the choices he made/makes. I didn't feel like we were given the whole picture of who Pierce is and because I adore his character so much, I guess I just wanted more. Hopefully as the series progresses, we'll be able to check back in with him!

3 1/2 - 4 stars. *Gifted for an honest review*

Awww, I had such high hopes for this, as Pierce was a character in Harbour's book that I really enjoyed reading about. Unfortunately for me he lost a little bit of his shine and I found him nowhere near as interesting as a main character that I thought I would. The story of Pierce and his mystery man is still enjoyable, and I think Penelope made the right choice in doing this as a novella. I don't think there was enough there for a book like Harbour. I love M/M reads so that most certainly was not the issue for me. The story in itself is not really anything I haven't read before but it's enjoyable all the same. I felt it was a little rushed, especially towards the end but to be honest I don't really see that writing it out would have made much difference. It also felt a little rehashed in many places as the story runs tandem with Harbour's, I wasn't so keen on this.
Pierce is totally comfortable in his own skin, makes no apologies for how he is. Alas he falls in love with a man who is not only engaged to a woman (albeit a sham) but a man who is so confused it really isn't funny. Their relationship is all fits and starts, comings and goings, misunderstandings and mishaps. Pierce hits the bottom a time or two and it's quite sad to read his thoughts. He is a strong individual so to see him sink that way is quite heart breaking. I would have liked to have some of Noah's POV, it always felt like a guessing game as to where his head was. Eventually both Noah and Pierce get what they want but not before some serious soul searching happens. Some hot and steamy M/M scenes in here, those were written well and again, enjoyable.
Yes I liked this, but felt it wasn't as good as Harbour and I felt a little disappointed that the Pierce we saw in that book fell flat with the Pierce we get in this book. But I'd still recommend it, worth the read!

So I feel like I should have liked this book a lot more than I did. I didn't read Harbour (Runaway Home, #1) by Penelope Louleas where Pierce is introduced but even if I had read it, I don't think that it would have affected my rating. There's a lot going on in this book in addition to the on and off relationship between Pierce and Noah. Harbour's issues with Derek and Lincoln, her job, she's in NY, no, she's in Melbourne, etc sort took away from the focus on Pierce. Yes, I understand that Pierce and Harbour are best friends, but there was way too much drama. My main quibble was the constant back and forth between Noah and Pierce. I think they broke up 4-5 times. Just when I think they get it together and I can relax and enjoy the two of them together, then bam!! Broken up again!! Noah is not completely out of the closet and has been using a "beard" so that people think he is straight. His will he or won't he step out of the closet and own his sexuality and his commitment to Pierce really frustrated me. I liked Pierce and his sexy dominance and his devotion to his best friend. I really enjoyed his interaction with his many fuck buddies, particularly Xavier. I wanted something to develop there but alas, it doesn't happen. So while I enjoyed the book, I was turned off by the many disruptions to the relationship. Noah and Pierce are sexy together and though we finally get an HEA (which is lovely, by the way), I wanted to throw my Kindle out of the window several times before we got there.

What I wouldn’t do to be a gay man if a chance at Pierce came my way. He has a dominant personality, he knows what he wants and even when it may hurt to walk away he will when he knows what is best for him. We first meet Pierce in book one, Harbour, and while you don’t need to read the first book, I highly recommend that you do so you get a better picture of what is occurring because they basically take place during the same time.

I knew when we first met Pierce that there would be so much more to him deep inside. I was hooked from the start and didn’t put it down until I was finished. It pulled at my heart especially when Pierce’s heart is broken by his dream guy. I wanted to beat the hell out of him for walking away from Pierce and not being man enough to just say fuck it and follow his real feelings, not the ones he has to show for others. Pierce in typical guy fashion tries to moves on, but quickly finds that no one else can replace his dream man.

I truly hope that we will see more of Pierce in the future books because I have claimed him as my gay book boyfriend. I hadn’t previously read anything by Penelope Louleas prior to reading Harbour in preparation for Pierce, and I will be adding her to my list of authors to watch out for because I want more of this series sooner rather than later.

I must say that I enjoyed Pierce more than I did Harbour. I was intrigued with Pierce ever since Harbour and I wanted to read more of his story and find out who this mystery man was. This was a great story about finally finding what you never knew you were looking for and finding out who you really are. I loved Noah and he was a great addition to Pierce's story. It was also good to see the back story for Harbour and find out the things that happened that you would have never got from the original story.Although Pierce could be read as a stand alone it is best to read this after Harbour because it would make a little more sense when you really get into Pierce.

Ok I lived Pierce in Harbour he was the ultimate best friend, looking out for her, so when he got his own book I was excited.
This book had me in tears. we learn the struggles that Pierce had and went through and even though we will never truly understand what it would be like to not be accepted into society Penelope did and awesome job in making me fell like I was there, like it was my story. Everyone should experience love no matter, sex or race. I absolutely loved this story, but definitely recommend reading Harbour first. 4 out of 5.

5 Amazing stars for an amazing read

So where to begin other than to say if you don't read this straight away You. Are. Missing. Out!!!

Pierce took me on a journey of Love, Laughter & Tears. I came away knowing that if you aren't proud of who you are or able to be free to live how you want to live, then you are not living your life to the fullest!

Penny you have a done an amazing job as I said you would. I loved Harbour, I love Pierce and can't wait for Art. Your stories are great and love that I can get lost in your characters worlds (even if just for a couple hours)

I wish I had a Pierce in my life ladies....;-)

I really fell in love with Pierce in Harbour. He was the amazing gay friend that every girl should have. He was witty, loyal, fun and had a wicked mouth. I was super excited to read his book.

In his own head he is not quite the same. He is an old soul who is faced with the possibility of actually loving someone. His outward appearance does not show his internal struggles. While he does not hide from who he is, he is proud to be gay and relishes in the life he has chosen. He has a dominant personality and takes charge at work and in the bedroom. But when faced with the possibility of finding his "one" his world doesn't quite look the same anymore.

"I'm like a male version of a high-maintenance girlfriend."

His "one" was mentioned in Harbour's book so as a reader I was eager to see who it was and I was a little surprised. The problem is that mystery man isn't out of the closet and comes with his own set of insecurities and troubles. He doesn't know how to live the life that he wants and is too scared to try. Watching Pierce wait for him to come to terms with it is an uphill battle. The struggle between what one wants and what one needs are very different and at times I wanted to jump through the book and strangle someone.

This is a short little novella, so time moves very quickly and some of it is Pierce's side of what happened in the previous book. It was nice to see the other side and I knew Pierce was more involved than he let on. I wish though we could have seen inside of mystery man's head. I wanted to be a part of his struggle too. He was not very forthcoming with his feelings and I felt like I was missing half of a story. This was a steamy little tale with a lot of emotions, I still want a Pierce in my life but it did feel rushed and then wrapped up too quickly.

Pierce broke my heart, he was such a fine man that deserved to be loved, it was shame that the man he loved wasn’t ready to love him back in the same way.

I loved how forthright Pierce was, a man completely happy with who he is and giving no quarter to the fact that society sometimes isn’t as willing to accept as it should be.

Love should be easy, it should be the one possession that we are able to impart to the person of our choice without fear of retribution, without comment or entitlement but when Pierce loses his heart to a man that is living a lie- it broke my spirit.

I know that you can’t help who your heart falls in love with but I just wanted better for Pierce, I wanted someone to love him unconditionally, out of the shadows and in all his glory because he was glorious when he shone!

I understood that not everything was straight forward but a lot for what was happening was closed off, Noah was good at keeping his thoughts to himself and Pierce is so strong that when his heart plummeted I cried for him.

When they eventually get their act together, it is only after they have both done some heartfelt soul searching. I suppose the old adage that good things come to those that wait is true in this case I just didn’t like that the Pierce that I saw in Harbour’s book was treated like this.

Told in much the same time frame as Harbour, it does run over a few of the same points but the perspectives are different, and I found that I wasn’t too bothered by that repetition.

I also loved the fact that in this book we are able to get a bit more of Harbours story.

You will cry and shake your head at this book, you will feel the injustice of Pierce’s situation but you will revel in the love that he finds with Noah

I loved this book and adore Pierce!!

I loved this book, Pierce. I thought it was such a complex and emotional story. The plot captured me right from the start and I was sucked into Pierce's life like a voyager. I got to experience him falling in love. Witness all of his heart ache and pain because some parts society doesn't just let all love be simple and open.

There was so much going on in Pierce's world - you only got glimpses of it when you're reading Harbour. You truly had no flipping idea that his life was so chaotic and all that he is hiding from his friends. It's not secret that Pierce has a mysterious lover - you just probably would not have ever guessed his identity. It is completely right there - the truth, happiness and the despair. The author does an incredible job showing you want she wants you to know and nothing more.

Pierce's character was enticing. He is sweet and sexy. Intelligent. Dominant. Pierce knows who he is and what he needs in life. Unfortunately, he falls in love with a man who is very much unsure of who he is and desperately wants his sexual desires to remain hidden. It's a love story that feels doomed to fail but that you're praying to succeed.

I truly enjoyed getting to know Pierce and reading his story. I thought his book is very well written and it completely entertaining. If you were fans of the authors first book Harbour you do not want to miss out on Pierce's story.

If you strip this book of it's cover slowly you going to find a body of dirty sophistication for you to wallow in.

Pierce is like an energizer bunny.

Each subsequent breakup between the men seemed almost farcical, nonsensical & diminished any bonding this reader had to the characters. The total lack of personal insight into the other male character whose name I have strangely forgotten NOW made his angst tame & tepid.

Pierce is like an extremely horny energizer bunny.

The first 200 odd pages are hotter than Hades.Unfortunately the heat fizzles out faster than jumping into an iced river. The reason being the odd inclusion of a BFF whose story line dominates the latter part of the book thus making any former heat generated by man on man action null & void

Pierce aka sexual athlete is almost feminized by his interludes with his BFF which is a pity because he begins the tale almost like a gay 'Mr Grey'.The ending was strangely incomplete with the second male lead fading in and out of the woodwork. He is there one moment than gone the next.I felt no love between the male leads I guess because of the 100 odd pages of BFF drama & Pierce revenge screwing of anything that moved across two continents.

I still liked the concept of the book though it failed to fulfill any fantasy of something dirty, hard & tight. The inclusion of the best friend has confused an otherwise perfectly hot m/m book.

This is the first M/M romance that I have read, but I loved “Harbour” and Pierce was one of my favourite characters, so I thought I’d give it a go. OMG! I’m so glad that I did! This book is awesome!
I love it when I become emotionally involved in a book. I WANT to feel a connection to the characters. As I said, I loved Harbour so it was great to read about her but I wasn’t sure if I would become attached to Pierce. I DID! I wanted him to be happy and there were times I become upset because his happiness was being threatened.
How could I not fall in love with Pierce. Even though he was going through a tough time in his personal life, he still put others first, especially Harbour, his “bestie”. Noah was such a complicated character but somehow that made him endearing except when he was frustrating me.
But this book was not just an emotional one. There were many light-hearted moments that made me smile or snort. My favourite line: “When did I become Moses for the in-denial, closet gay man? What if he doesn’t want me to take him to the proverbial Promised Land?”
I gave Pierce (the book and the person) 5 stars.

5 Brilliant, Well Deserved Stars

You gave me time; I gave you hell.
Give me one more chance.

You've out done yourself Penelope.

I, like many other have never read M/M before. I loved Pierce in Harbour and was over the moon when I heard he was getting his own story. I can say with 100% certainty that I love him even more now.

Pierce is a unique and special guy. He's the gay bestfriend everyone wants. His is a confident gay man and goes after what he wants and usually gets it. Until he meets someone that is "stuck in the closet" and scared to admit what he wants. Pierce is now faced with the decision as to whether he holds out for hope or gives up before strong emotions affect everything.

I love a good M/M book any day. I went into this novella ready for the hot sex I knew had to come. I loved Pierce , he was hot and an alpha. I found my self fanning my blushing cheeks from his sex life!! I loved that he was a great friend and he was always trying to fix things for other people.
When I first met Noah , he annoyed me. He was so confused and kept going back and forth. I wanted to slap him and say get with it or get lost! and bravo for Pierce telling him so, he refused to be last or a secret and nor should he. With that aside Noah was hot and demanding in his F'd up and confused way. I loved the way they were together. Gosh I kinda envied them.

I wanted to give 5 stars sooo bad but I couldn't because this should of been a novel not a novella , there were so many parts that should of been expanded and too many gasps in time. Like what was Noah doing for that month and half?? either way I still loved it! and I better see more of them in the next book!

Happy Reading Dolls!

I can imagine that being gay isn't easy. There are so many close-minded people out there that will think less of you or judge you because of your sexual preference. Coming out can be hard, but Pierce embraces his sexuallity. Noah doesn't. How do you convince someone that they need to be true to themselves? Obviously, this makes for some extra struggles in a relationship. And it makes a really great read.

I truly enjoyed this story, it had me smiling at different parts, and crying at others. Tears are a sign of a great book to me. It means I am truly connected to the charcters. That's how I felt with Pierce. I got a glimpse of this amazing man in Harbour. His mystery man intrigued me. I couldn't want to find out who it was.

In the end, the book is about finding love. Finally allowing someone in and giving part of yourself to someone else. I loved this story from beginning to end and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Pierce is the perfect man, and sadly for women everywhere, this perfect man prefers men. But complications ensue when he falls for Noah. A man barely able to admit hes gay, and so far back in the closet he can't even see the light. With the fact that they are involved in business together also complicating matters, Pierce has a had time convincing Noah to take a chance on him... I honestly loved this book... I liked Harbour, but loved Pierce. Pierce has an extremely likeable character about him, that will make you want to cheer for him from the very first page. While it is a M/M romance - it is still a romance, and I find reading it from a male perspective to be very refreshing. So even if your not sure on the genre, once you've read Harbour. You're not going to want to pass up Pierce's story.

I enjoyed this book. More, in fact, than I did book one. It held my attention much more effectively than Harbour. I had my suspicions about Pierce's secret lover, but I liked that it was kept a mystery until this book. It was a steamy, interesting storyline. My biggest complaint, and the reason for my review being less than 5 stars, is that almost every bit of it took place during Harbour. Upon receiving this ARC, I did not realize it was a companion to the first book. I expected it to be a completely different storyline that would extent much further past the end of Harbour. That aspect left me a bit disappointed, so note that when you start this book. Despite that, I would still recommend this scorching M/M read, especially if you read and enjoyed Harbour.

I was gifted a copy of this book for review.
I fell for Pierce in Harbours story. He is such a great best friend to her. He is openly gay and makes no apologies for who he is which I absolutely adore. He falls for Noah a man that is confused about his sexuality and who also happens to be engaged to a woman. Coming to terms with what he wants and who is a great story. I love this story but I will admit that my heart broke for Pierce in places. This is a great addition to Harbour although you do not have to read it first I recommend you do.

The snippets I saw of Pierce in Harbour were intriguing, but it wasn't until I got to see what he was like, hear his voice that it made me turn those pages quickly, devouring every word.
Pierce was hilarious, witty, charismatic but he was also vulnerable, and hesitant. Penelope Louleas flawed me with her writing in Harbour and she's done it again in Pierce.
Loved every word. I may have re read certain scenes over and over again :)

This is my first book from Penelope Louleas but it definitely wont be my last. I loved Pierce he is the perfect gay Alpha male. He's suave, sophisticated, sexy, and doesn't mind beating the shit out of a guy. Gay has nothing to do with it.

Pierce is a business lawyer and he's contracted to work for the Winslow company. What he wasnt expecting for his new boss to be super hot. His boss also wasnt giving up gay vibes but that doesnt mean he wasnt still attracted to him.

If you loved Harbour but are hesitant to read this due to MM content then know this is not a homosexual story but a romance novel about finding your other half.......with hot MM sex! I was a bit worried being a novella wouldn't allow enough time to give Pierce's story justice but the story was perfect!

I really enjoyed reading Pierce's book! I had a feeling from Harbour as to who his mystery man is, but that's all I will say on that. I loved his POV, he just has a way about him. His perceptions on things, the way he treated Harbour and others near him, just....sigh and swoon. Great book Penelope!
