A psychological thriller that will leave you breathless
Bianca Stewart had a bright future at law school, a loving family, and unshakeable confidence in her place in the world. Until the night she was supposed to pick up her sister Allora from the airport and arrived thirty-seven minutes too late.
Now Allora is dead, murdered by a killer who was never caught. And Bianca has become Brandee, a rideshare driver living in anonymity, drowning in guilt, convinced she deserves nothing more than the shadows she's chosen to inhabit. But someone won't let her disappear.
Anonymous notes start appearing in her car, each one more personal and threatening than the last. They know about her sister. They know about her guilt. And when nursing student Lila Quinn, a recent passenger, goes missing, the notes make it Brandee has a chance to save someone this time.
As the psychological games intensify, Brandee must decide whether to keep hiding from her past or find the strength to confront it. In a deadly cat-and-mouse game where nothing is what it seems, she'll discover that guilt can be a prison, but it can also be fuel for something far more powerful.
Breaking Bianca is a relentless psychological thriller about the thin line between victim and survivor, and what happens when someone refuses to stay broken.
For fans of Karin Slaughter, Gillian Flynn, and Ruth Ware
Things about me: • I lived in 19 houses before I was 20 years old, and my family was not in the military. • I started an animal/human welfare nonprofit that continues to operate and keep families together. • For 8 years I owned a buy one, give one pet food brand that supported rescues & shelters across the country. • Unsurprisingly, I have a thing for ‘special’ animals like my dog Chance, who was paralyzed in the back end, and my canine child Charlie, who was born blind. No animals will ever be hurt or killed in my books. (People are totally fair game.) • Even though I’m not a tech bro, I lived in my warehouse for a year (not as cool as it sounds, btw). • Before I ran away from home in LA and moved to Iowa, I worked with celebs. • I used to have severe social phobia; now I’m a big-mouthed, opinionated beast.
My Rating: 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great standalone from a favourite Author!!
The Goodreads synopsis does the job on this one setting the scene for a creepy killer and something much more sinister.
Bianca’s character (or Brandi as she’s now known) is wracked with guilt over being late to pick up her little sister, in the 40mins she is late she is abducted and killed with only some of her body ever found.
Brandi’s life is in tatters and shes shut off from everyone, until one day out of the shadows the killer that took her little sister is emerging ready to take his next prize.
Sara Ennis is a favourite of mine and I really enjoyed the Dollhouse series (they are sick and twisted though so check those TWs). I have had varying degrees of success with her standalone novels buts this one hooked me in. It was easy to read (very Sara) and switching between POV and different timelines. I really like that style.
There is a nod to one of our fave characters from the dollhouse series (no its not Angel) which I really enjoyed and the way this one unfolded was creepy AF.
I did guess some of the final twist however, not the way it was going to play out and why and that did not spoil it for me. I really liked how this one came together in the end. And while there was blood shed and tears it was a satisfying ending.
Overall, I think its worth a read if you like this author and you like sick and twisted thrillers.
I had to take a few days and think about this book, because wow. That's my review. "Wow". Because the more I thought about it, the more genius I thought it was.
I've been a Sara Ennis fan since her debut novel, The Dollhouse, and not once has one of her books disappointed me, so that bar is set high!
At first, when you're reading Breaking Bianca, you're thinking to yourself "Okay, this is your typical thriller, try to figure out who the bad guy is... oh it's probably him. I wonder if I'm right.", but NO. FALSE. This is Sara Ennis, whatever you think you know, you are wrong. You know nothing!! And when you think something has been revealed? NO! That's just the tip of the iceberg. Keep reading.
Forget Bianca, I felt like I was also a character in this book who was going through everything WITH Bianca!
Why you might ask, did I give this book 4 stars rather than 5 then? This is because I DID predict who the bad guy was fairly early on, but honestly, that doesn't even bother me that much (and it usually ruins the whole book for me) because of everything else that's going on, and everything else that's happening. You really have to read the book to get what I mean.
I could not put this book down. I was immediately hooked from the beginning and felt connected to the FMC for so many reasons. The constant guessing and trying to figure out what was going on kept me intrigued and entertained. I would say this book is a slow burn thriller that is so worth the wait. And the ending was fantastic!
“Breaking Bianca” by Sara Ennis is the very definition of a psychological thriller. This story has everything—heartbreak, physical and psychological torment, guilt, resilience, and vengeance. Ennis takes readers deep into the human psyche, exploring how far someone can be pushed before they shatter—and whether it’s possible to rebuild after being broken. Raw, powerful, and unforgettable, this book grips you and doesn’t let go. This story deserves more than 5 stars!
Wow! I love a great story with a badass female...and this was just that and more! Breaking Bianca nearly broke me...between the pain, manipulation, strength and dog (no animals were harmed!!), I was a wreck! Breaking Bianca has so much depth as the author provides points of view from the protagonist and antagonist. A book so great I read it twice!
The writing, the twists, and the character development are always top tier with Ms. Ennis. I was terrified and even gagged. Oh, she went there. The power of manipulation written in this book made my skin crawl. I loved it.
Love the way Sara Ennis writes. Makes you hooked from the start! And once you get to the end you always want to find another book from her! This book is no exception! 5 stars
I’ve read everything Sara has published and typically devour it the same day. When I started this book, she was kind enough to start with the dog doesn’t get killed. That’s all I needed to know. Fantastic story line even though I picked up a big part of the ending rather early on, but still love it.
I really liked this one! It’s probably one of my favorite Sara Ennis books so far.
The only trigger warning I’d mention is the same one Sara included herself. Normally, I think trigger warnings can give too much away, but knowing that the dog doesn’t die actually made me even more attached to that character. In other books, I’ll end up skimming sections if I sense animal harm coming, but it was so refreshing to be able to fully immerse myself in this story without that dread in the back of my mind. Behead a youth? Fine. But touch a single hair on the dog’s head, and it changes my whole experience. Don’t ask me to explain. I didn’t make the rules, I just follow them.
One of the things I love most about Sara Ennis’s writing is that her characters feel real. They’re not superhuman or conveniently brilliant. They’re just regular people suddenly thrown into chaos. A random girl on a Tuesday wondering how the hell she got into this mess.
Breaking Bianca is a wild thriller that somehow makes dark crime relatable. Would recommend to anyone who likes Lucinda Berry or Paige Dearth.
This book was incredible. When the story first opened, I thought I was going to read about some stalker after a woman whom had no idea she was the focus of a madman. The deeper I delved into the story the more I realized there was something more than just Brandee being stalked. I could feel her confusion when notes kept appearing in her car. I tried to think of a way that the notes could be showing up in her car and none of my thoughts matched. As the story progresses, the reader begins to feel the tension build up for Brandee. Everything and everyone becomes suspect in their behavior and actions. Several times I thought I had the right person as the stalker only to have my guess shot down. I felt just as anxious as Walter and Brandee when they decided to inspect the different locations they found. I definitely was not prepared for the end of this thriller. I wondered at who could be so cruel and inhumane to prepare and carry out such horrible psychological terror. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read all the way!
Honestly I hate writing reviews (love the written word but I stuck trying to use it) But the twists and turns The up and done Thinking had it figured out to be so wrong It was amazing Couldn’t put this book down If you liked the doll house books Definitely read this one
Bianca’s sister is murdered and her life changes drastically. She doesn’t want to be Bianca anymore. No spoilers, if you want to know, read the book. Throughout the story I realized I couldn’t read it at night. It was giving me a good amount of anxiety and some weird dreams. This book is so good, as are all of Sara’s stories. I couldn’t wait to read it and suggest you go and grab it. Also, I love Dawg!! What a wonderful friend and protector.
I really enjoyed this read! Really rooted for Bianca the whole way! The MVP is Deffo DAWG he pulled her up from rock bottom and showed her that you must keep going, she saved him, but really he saved her. Such a harrowing story of betrayal and survival.

Sara Ennis has done it again! I couldn’t put this book down, she had me hooked from the first chapter. A great mix of thriller and mystery that will keep you wanting more. The characters are complex, but relatable. I was riding along with Bianca, sharing her fears, courage and strength the entire time. And of course, rooting for her fantastic side kick puppy Dawg.
I’ve been reading Sara Ennis’s books since her debut The Dollhouse, a book I rate as a dark and twisted classic. While Breaking Bianca is listed as Book 9 of The Komorebi Serial K*ller Series it definitely works as a standalone, featuring some recurring characters rather than being a continuation of previous story arcs.
Bianca had everything: a bright future at law school, a loving family and confidence in her place in the world. Then her sister was m*rdered, the k*ller never caught.
Bianca ran from her old life into anonymity, changing her name, becoming a rideshare driver hiding in the shadows of the night. Then anonymous notes start appearing in her car, someone is watching, they know her secrets and clearly won’t let her forget the past.
This is a smooth book! Kind of creepy too. It builds up Bianca’s character very nicely so that when the threats start threatening you are right there with her. The plot, threat and tension all ramp up nicely and the twists are unexpected and effective.
A very polished and accomplished addition to Sara Ennis’s collection.
*I received this as an ARC (THANK YOU!) and this is my honest review*
Breaking Bianca was amazing! The evolution of coming into her own strength and not letting herself be a target all while struggling to overcome the past that haunts her was awesome to experience. The twists and turns and "who is it" feeling while reading is nothing short of amazing. I had a guess of who was part of it, and I was right...but also wrong! I thoroughly enjoy when the author plays mind games 🤩
I've loved all of Sara's work since I read the Dollhouse and have had the joy of witnessing each story unfold with their own differences and character traits and this one was no different!
What can I say about this but Sara Ennis has done it again. If you thought The Dollhouse was dark, Breaking Bianca runs rings around it.
I at first thought that Allora's abduction and murder was tied to something her parents may have done. I was right about the family connection but wrong about the family member and the reason this event happened.
Breaking Bianca left me wondering if we ever really know the people we interact with on a regular basis. Not everyone is as they seem. In typical Ennis fashion, you will be on the edge of your seat. You will feel the anguish that Bianca felt when she finally joined all the dots together and discovered the identity of the person who set the ball in motion for the worst year of her life.
I received a free Advance Reader Copy of Breaking Bianca from the author and have chosen to leave a review.
Breaking Bianca grips you from the first page. Sara Ennis masterfully weaves guilt, suspense, and redemption into a twisty psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the final reveal. Bianca’s journey from shattered survivor to fierce fighter is raw and unforgettable. This one will leave your heart pounding and your mind racing long after the last page!
Another fantastic book by Sara Ennis! Ever since I read the dollhouse, Sara has been on my must read list of authors. This book is part of that universe and it did not disappoint. This book was suspenseful. and twisty. I love the way she writes strong female protagonists. Highly recommend you check out this author! Thank you to the author for granting me the ability to read an advanced copy of this book.
