This Christmas, I’m snowed in… with my brother’s best friend.

Emily Sullivan
I was all set for a quiet two weeks home alone for Christmas. What I didn’t plan on? Running into my brother’s childhood best friend, Mason Elliott, at the local bar—and flirting with him. Eight years older than me and newly divorced, he was deliciously off-limits.
After he rejected me, I knew nothing would ever happen between us. Until he showed up at my house the next day, with the guise of checking on me. When a snowstorm hit the area, he came to my rescue. And now I’m snowed in with the cowboy, and he’s helping me warm up, calling me darlin’, and I can’t help but wonder… can this last, or is it just a holiday fling? Because secretly, all I want for Christmas is him.

Mason Elliott
Moving home after the divorce felt right. Starting over in my mid-thirties was hard, but Montana—and running Midnight Pines Ranch—was where I was supposed to be. No part of me expected the instant connection that happened after meeting Emily Sullivan again. It had been two years since I’d seen her at her older brother’s wedding, and she was breathtaking. But she was too young for me. I couldn’t want to kiss my best friend’s little sister. I’d practically grown up at the Sullivan’s house, since they were our closest neighbors.
So why can I not get her out of my mind? And why is she my first thought when a storm is blowing in, all alone in her big house? I shouldn’t want her, but I can’t stay away. Even if it’s not forever, I’m going to savor every last minute I have with her as the snow falls.

Merrily Mine is a spicy snowed-in, small town cowboy romance that will keep you warm this holiday season! This standalone Christmas Novella is set in the world of the Best Friends Book Club, though you do not have to read any other books to enjoy this one.

This romance felt like slipping into a warm, familiar hug.

Mason and Emily have that soft, surprising chemistry that feels natural from the start, helped along by those sweet little nicknames that make their bond feel real. Their dynamic blends sweetness, tension, and vulnerability in a way that makes it easy to fall for them and root for every step they take toward each other.

The setup is simple but so effective. Emily comes home for Christmas and runs into Mason, her childhood crush and her brother's best friend, and a sudden snowstorm traps them together. What begins as teasing turns into real attraction and honest conversations. Mason is protective in a tender, quietly broken way, while Emily brings warmth, confidence, and this sense of certainty that pulls him in and steadies him.

What feels especially moving is the way they lean into vulnerability instead of running from it. They face old hurts, lean into hope, and build something that feels really earned.

It is a short, spicy, cozy holiday read with a lot of heart, and I finished it wishing I could stay with these characters a little longer.

Thank you, Jennifer Chipman and Valentine PR, for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨

This was a sweet little spicy holiday read! Plentyyyy of spice. I loved that the age gap wasn’t made to be a huge deal. Whenever the age gap is exaggerated, it’s feels so blah but the author definitely did it right. A snowed in Christmas novella was exactly what I needed to prepare for the cold!

I am having a really hard time enjoying contemporary romances lately, and this one was hard for me to get into. Since it's a novella, the plot already moves fast, so for me the characters got together to quickly, and I lost interest in watching them just be in love and happy for the second half of the book. I need a little bit more pining and tension!

❄️Holiday novella
❄️Brother’s best friend
❄️Small town romance
❄️Neighbors to lovers
❄️Age gap
❄️Forced proximity

Hey everyone — just finished this cozy holiday novella and I’m pleasantly surprised. Emily (FMC) returns home for Christmas and bumps into Mason (MMC), her childhood crush and her brother’s best friend — there’s an eight-year age gap and a lot of reasons to keep their distance, yet the chemistry is instant. A sudden snowstorm strands them together and what starts as flirtation quickly turns into something much more intense. ❄️🩵

This is a short, spicy read but it also gives real moments: the forced-proximity vibe works, and the author lets the pair talk honestly about their fears and what they want next. Mason is equal parts protective and tender, with a confident, slightly rough edge; Emily is open, warm and determined — their dynamic felt believable to me despite the novella’s time constraints.✨

For a first time reading this author, her voice clicked with me: she writes clean, snappy scenes that still carry emotional weight. If I have one tiny wish, it’s for just a bit more breathing room for their connection, but honestly the pacing kept things satisfying.🤭✨

Overall: perfect holiday-season escape — sexy, sweet, and heartfelt. Definitely recommended if you want a quick, feel-good romantic read with a little heat.

Huge thanks to the sweetest Jennifer Chipman and Valentinepr for sending me this ARC! 🌸💖

Never getting caught in a snowstorm doesn’t seem like such a bad thing until it happens to them. They grew up together; he’s a year post-divorce, and she’s eight years younger, still not sure she’s ready to settle down but definitely feeling unsettled. The two of them are ice-melting hot together, and when they end up stranded in a snowstorm…well, the snow isn’t the only thing heating up out there!

This was such a cute Christmas read! Jennifer Chipman makes me want to go back and reread this whole series. It was super cute!

Merrily Mine by Jennifer Chipman which is a standalone novella part of the Best Friends Book Club.

Emily and Mason’s story is a brothers best friend, snowed in aka forced proximity, age gap romance and was perfectly captured. The moment these two lock in on each other sparks fly, but neither will take a step over the indivisible line. That is until a now storm hits and all barriers are down and there’s no longer any stupid decisions to work through.

I really enjoyed this little Christmas novella and the relationship written between Emily and Mason, their vulnerability and little hints at the other key characters from this world.

This was the first book I’ve read from Jennifer Chipman and I loved it. So much so that I’ll need to go read the other books in the Best Friends Book Club world.

I'm giving my honest opinion based on the ARC.

I liked this book a lot, is a spicy holiday romance 🤭💖

Emily, who had been traveling around the world as an influencer, came back to her childhood town in Montana to spend christmas and there she reconects with Mason, who is a cowboy eight years older than her, divorced and her brother's best friend.

Merrily Mine is a Christmas time novella filled with a spicy romance that can warm you up on the coldest of days between neighbours Emily Sullivan and Mason Elliott.

Emily had a crush on Mason many years ago growing up, but he was her older brother’s best friend… but time has passed and now Mason sees her for more than who she was back then. I read this on the coldest of days we’ve had so far, but unlike the setting of Merrily Mine, I don’t get snow never mind experience the wonder of being ‘snowed in’ which just adds to heat between Emily and Mason because they’re trapped together and realising that the attraction they have for one another maybe be swift but it’s also undeniable.

I’m not always one for the inst-love thing because I don’t think that it’s a plausible thing, perhaps it should be insta-lust that can develop into love over time? I don’t know but I think I found despite their chemistry, it to be a little too soon especially for Mason (no spoilers obv) to be declaring even to himself that he’s fallen in love. It’s romantic in a book certainly, but it was personally a little jarring - I think I’d have liked to see them a year on, all loved-up and saying it then rather than in the heat of the story. To be clear, I liked the story, and it’s perfect for anyone wanting a little escapism with a cowboy, with a lot of heat between the two despite the falling temperatures and to see the couple be head over heels.

There’s a reason romance movies are popular especially over the Christmas season because it’s good to see a happy ever after when it’s dark and cold and Merrily Mine gives you that in spades.

Thank you as usual to Jennifer Chipman for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Merrily Mine is the cutest holiday cowboy romance! Jenn always writes the easiest to love books and this one was perfect!
After a steamy bar night meet cute, Emily and Mason find themselves snowed in together during a winter storm, thanks to a little help from family meddling.
The age gap is SO good because Emily is older and it doesn’t feel unrealistic, and Mason is Emily’s older brother’s childhood best friend which added an extra layer of “taboo”.
Emily is a travel influencer and is feeling the loneliness after being gone from home the last several years and I loved her slowly falling into place with Mason, realizing they’re both exactly what the other is craving and seeking. Mason is back living in his hometown after a divorce and building the life he always envisioned for himself running his family ranch. Him realizing that he could have everything he wanted, and he wasn’t asking for too much, just asking the wrong person was so healing.
Mason’s filthy mouth was everything and I loved the instalust/love trope. Even for a novella nothing felt rushed or out of place and I loved the holiday vibes!

Oh my gosh this book melted my heart!!! Mason and Emily are the most absolutely beautiful couple ever! I loved their story and seeing them finally get the ending they both deserved was gorgeous.

Poor Mason deserved so much more than he received in life before reconnecting with Emily. His ex-wife did not deserve the absolute cinnamon roll of a man that she gave up, but her lose even if it broke Mason was his and Emily gain as their chemistry and obsession with each other was explosive. This man who thought he would never find he happy ending in life push Emily away because of there prior relationship thinking he could not have her, but when nature decided to snow them in together that soon became the last thing in his mind as he became the most amazing caretaker to Emily and their relationship exploded.

Emily didn’t ever think she would find someone after traveling her entire life up to this point but she was wrong she found it in the one person who she never thought she could have! She took what she wanted and proved to Mason that them being together was fate. She listen to his story and was there to support him through it and showed him she wanted this relationship to work it was so freaking beautiful. It took her time to give in to he’s need to care for her, but she did and holy crap she got more than she bargained for.

Their happy ending was well deserved!! I’m so happy I got to read this early because it was so freaking beautiful!!! Now I want to go back and read Emily’s brother’s stories!!

who doesn't love a snowed in holiday romance with a cowboy...who calls her darlin' SWOON

this was just the perfect amount of plot to spice. Emily returns home after being away doing her infleuncer thing for 2 years. She bumps into Mason, her brother's best friend and neighbor, and their is an instant connection. With a snowstorm coming in Mason comes by her house to make sure she has power and to make sure she is okay. They end up getting snowed in and working through their tension and chemistry.

This is the perfect holiday novella to get you in the mood for the holidays. Mason is a dirty talkin' cowboy I couldn't get enough of. Short, sweet, spicy...what more could you want

Merrily Mine was a sweet, cozy read with a lot of heart, especially if you enjoy small-town romance and holiday vibes. The atmosphere was charming, and I appreciated the emotional themes woven throughout the story. The characters were likable, and there were moments that genuinely pulled at my heartstrings.

That said, parts of the story felt a bit predictable, and the pacing slowed in places, which made it harder for me to stay fully invested the entire time. I also wished there had been a little more depth and development in certain moments to really elevate the emotional payoff.

Overall, it was an enjoyable and comforting read—perfect for when you’re in the mood for something warm and seasonal—even if it didn’t completely wow me. A solid 3.5-star book.

a cutesy, SPICY, snowed in christmas novella! super insta love, obviously. maybe a bit too insta love though? it was a bit more lustful rather than genuine chemistry. it was definitely a smutty little read, which was fun. kind of.
the book was a cute read overall and I enjoyed my time with it, not obsessed with it like I hoped to be but i’d still reccomend it if you’re looking for a fast paced smutty christmas feel!

I ADORE that the age gap wasn’t weird or a huge thing, I hate when age gaps are awkwardly the entire plot. I also appreciate the fmc pushing 30 oppose to barely 21 so that helps.

This was such a cute, fun little book! I really enjoyed getting to know Mason and Emily.

I always love a a good spicy read with the snowed in trope, and this one definitely delivered.

I loved that they both found each other and were able to start the life they always wanted together.

I did wish that the book was a little longer only because I wanted more to their romance. It was definitely a fast paced book, and some of the timelines did feel a little quick. I was surprised that they were already wanting to have a baby together after just a few days hahaha, but I guess you can’t blame someone for knowing exactly what they want!

Thank you so much to the author and VPR for an arc copy of this book.

“This was so much more than just a casual fling, than just s3x. This was a raw connection that I couldn’t deny, even if I wanted to. And I didn’t. I just wanted her.”

Ugh what I fun quick read and oh so SPICY 🥵

I love that even though it feels like instalust but due to their past it was super understandable.
Emily goes home for Xmas and gets snowed in. Everyone in her family has made their own plans in advanced so she is unfortunately home alone. Well the neighbors son, who just so happens to be her brothers childhood best friend, has been sent to check on her by their mothers 🤭
Well being snowed in you can imagine how things turn out 👀
Mason might be your next cowboy book boyfriend, so don’t wait to read this. You’ll love him 🤤

I have NOT read the Best Friends Book Club series and did not feel like I was missing anything so feel free to read this holiday novella even if you haven’t either.
That being said they are on my TBR bc I need to know more about the Sullivan brothers 👀

Thank you to Jennifer and VPR for my eARC 🫶🏼

Despite them knowing each other from childhood, they hadn’t seen each other in years. He didn’t even recognize her at the bar. Suddenly, they’re in love and can’t live without each other. I hate instant love. I also hated how much he said “darlin”. I was just so ready for it to be over around 75%, but I was so close to finishing so I finished it.

The mouth on this man!!!! Mason is definitely going to warm you up this holiday season! Brother’s best friend, snowed in, cowboy, I mean what’s not to swoon over!?! Did I mention he has a filthy mouth?!

Emily is home for 2 weeks for Christmas in Montana alone and she is ready to just stop dreaming of fairytales she might not get like her brothers when she’s ready to just relax instead of take a tropical vacation. She’s tired of everyone treating her like she can’t handle herself.

This is a sweet and spicy holiday novella that is just perfect! I adored them. And some of my favorite tropes!

Who doesn't love a dirty talkin' cowboy?

I was SHOOK - Mason has a such a dirty mouth and I WAS HERE FOR IT. Emily and Mason have known each other most of their lives, growing up as neighbors and Mason being best friends with Emily's brother. The two return to their hometown, Emily for vacation and Mason to take over his family's ranch after divorce. What starts as a run in at the local bar turns into a snowed in novella that packs sweet and spicy (🥵 ) moments.

Add this one to your holiday TBR!! Releasing 11/21

Cute romance novella with sprinkling of spice. Age Gap is my favorite trope so I was excited about this book. The fact that it's also brother's best friend with a forced proximity, snowy, holiday backdrop made it all that much better. Emily has always had a crush on her much older brother's best friend Mason, but he always thought of her as a little kid until seeing her all grown up at a bar after he got divorced. The story does have instalove/instalust feels. Their relationship developed quickly as I would expect in a novella. No high angst and no third act breakup makes this an easy, light read.

Emily plans for a quiet Christmas alone at her parents house while deciding what to do next in her life. Everything is calm until she heads out on the town and runs into her brother’s best friend, Mason..who happens to be her childhood crush. Little does she know that he’s been instructed to check in on her. For Mason, returning home after his divorce is tough, but being back feels right…especially once he sees Emily all grown up.
A snowstorm traps them together and the sparks begin to fly. As they grow closer while the snow falls, both wonder if their holiday heat is actually something real. I enjoyed the excitement that Emily and Mason have between one another as they work through taking new chances on friendship and love! I am not the biggest fan of instalove but I believe it worked well in this story!

This was a short and sweet (and spicy) novella that is perfect for the holiday season. If you are into…
❄️snowed in
🐴 cowboy who lives on a horse ranch
🩷 brother’s best friend
❄️ age gap
🐴 she falls first

…then this story is perfect for you!

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

In Short: Snowed-in, childhood crush, sibling's best friend, fun, spicy cowboy romance.

General Thoughts: Second book I've read by this author, and I've enjoyed both. This one was a traditional snowed-in Christmas novella with a cowboy in the mix. It was a fun, cozy, sicy read. The plot moved quicky (as you would expect from a novella). If you're looking for a fun one to read this holiday season, this is a fun one. I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the author and Valentine PR.
