Cade's Redemption- Rose Valley, Book 2:

Rate this book
I’ve been a single mom long enough to know better. My rules were simple… No men. No risks. No heartbreak. I wouldn’t rely on anyone.

My life was simple- college, work, raising Lila, and an incredible found family who’d taken Lila and me in as their own. I didn’t need saving. I didn’t need a man.

Then Cade Carter came back to Rose Valley.

My best friend’s brother. Ex-military. Mercenary. A man wrapped in danger and too many secrets behind those sexy, dark eyes.

He warned me not to fall for him. Said he didn’t do love. Didn’t do forever.

I should’ve listened. But I thought I could change him. Thought I could get him to open up, to love me back.

We made a deal- no strings attached sex. Just physical. Just temporary.

But I broke every rule.
And Cade? He kept his promise.

Because men like him don’t stay. They destroy. And no matter how hard I tried- Cade Carter was always halfway gone.

This is a second chance spicy romance. I really enjoyed reading this book!! Be prepared for some heart strings being pulled for sure. Cade is a ex-military who is now working for the government in those secret missions. But he is back home for now trying to reset himself after a mission gone wrong. While home Cade meets Avery, a fiery single mom who not only has deep connections with his family but is breaking through all his walls. When Cade is called back to work, he left on bad terms with Avery. So when he returns he has his work cut out for him when it comes to Avery. I look forward to reading more books from this author.

I'm absolutely OBSESSED with Cade! 🔥🔥🔥 I have a major weakness for ex-military heroes, and second chances always get me! The spice level in this book was OFF THE CHARTS, and I was totally here for it! 🌶️🌶️🌶️ If you're looking for a quick, easy read with a ton of feels, this is your book! Just be warned, it packed some major emotional punches that caught me off guard. Overall, I devoured it and can't wait to see what's next!

The hardest mission of his life is winning back her heart.

Cade’s Redemption is a raw, emotionally driven second-chance romance about a man who was trained to feel nothing… and the woman and child who force him to remember how to live.

Cade Carter left Rose Valley at eighteen and never looked back. After two tours in the military, he was recruited into a brutal world of mercenary work, trained to erase emotions, memories, and attachments in order to hunt the worst of humanity. But when a mission goes wrong and his target escapes, Cade is ordered home to “decompress”—something a man like him has no idea how to do.

Back in Rose Valley, Cade is surrounded by ghosts: his family, his past, and the life he walked away from. While blowing off steam at a dive bar, he meets Avery—a hardworking single mom who rarely gets a night off from raising her young daughter, Lila. Their chemistry is immediate, intense, and dangerous for a man who has sworn off attachment. Cade is honest: no relationships, no feelings, just sex. Avery agrees… but her heart doesn’t get the memo.

What follows is a beautifully painful push-and-pull as Cade begins to care—about Avery, about Lila, about the family he abandoned—and panics when emotions start cracking the armor he’s built around himself. True to his training, Cade does what he does best: he runs. When he’s called back into the field, he leaves without closure, breaking Avery’s heart and confirming every fear she ever had about trusting a man like him.

Months later, injured and finally awake to how empty his life has become, Cade returns determined to make things right. But redemption doesn’t come easy, and Avery has every reason to protect her heart—and her child—from the man who already shattered them once.

This story delivers angst, tenderness, and emotional healing in equal measure. Cade is the ultimate wounded protector—flawed, haunted, and desperate to be worthy of the love he once believed he didn’t deserve. Avery’s strength and Lila’s quiet innocence add heart and warmth to a romance that’s as heartbreaking as it is hopeful.

If you love tortured military heroes, single-mom heroines, and second chances that have to be earned, Cade’s Redemption will wreck you in the best way.

Cade’s Redemption is a second chance romance filled with angst and uncertainty and a whole lot of spice. It’s all about Cade, an ex military, current mercenary gruff and grumpy man and Avery, a single mum currently working, studying and being a great solo parent to her daughter, 9 year old Lila.

Cade has spent several years distancing himself from all the people who love him and instead has become all about the job, with his current obsession being the bad guy that got away. Whereas Avery and Avery have been rapidly and completely brought into Cades family.

To say that Cade treats Avery terribly would be an understatement, he’s adamant that their relationship will never be more than a physical one and as a result is constantly pushing her away, only to suck her back in again. To put it bluntly he behaves like an a*s an entitled a*s.

Poor Avery knows that their connection is something more, something that could be spectacular, but there’s only so much a person can take and it isn’t long before Cades treatment of her brings her constant pain. I will say that Cades relationship with Lila is actually beautiful, it seems she’s the one person who doesn’t get the grumpy version of Cade and he consistently shows his care for her in little ways.

It’s not until something life changing and tragic happens to him that he realises what he’s lost when he pushed Avery away in a way that would break her, but is it too late for Cade? Can Avery ever forgive his treatment of her? Will their relationship ever heal? And will Cade finally let his family (and Avery and Lila) back into his heart and his life? You’ll need to read to find out, but if you’re looking for an angsty but steamy second chance book then this is absolutely the book for you.

BETA/ARC Review: 5⭐️
Cade’s Redemption is book 2 in the Rose Valley series featuring Cade Carter & Avery Taylor.

After a mistake on a mission, Cade is sent home to Rose Valley to decompress and clear his head before returning. He hides out and avoids his family for as long as he can, but he’s discovered in town by his best friend turned brother in law.

Avery is a single mom to her daughter Lila and came to Rose Valley knowing no one or having any family support. She becomes close with Cades sister Ember and is basically adopted by the Carter family.

Avery has never met Cade but one night while out for drinks she ends up with him for the evening. After the deed is done, he is a compete jerk and Avery knows she needs to avoid Him. However the longer he’s in town the more they seem to find themselves together.

Cade has no intentions of staying in Rose Valley and is determined to get back and complete his mission. The last thing he needs is a distraction and certainly not the beautiful women with a daughter, who is family loves.

Clouded by the mission and determined to complete it, Cade lets Avery slip through his fingers. Howe et when he returns to the mission and things go sideways, it’s Avery he thinks about. Will he make it back to her and will she give him the chance ?

Wow I was blown away by this story and couldn’t get enough of Cade & Avery! While Cade was a jerk in the beginning he turned it around and became my favorite real quick. I didn’t think anyone could top Colton but here we are !

This is the second book I’ve had the absolute pleasure of BETA reading for this author and I throughly enjoyed the experience ! Thank you Lindi for allowing me to be apart of this special story!

Cade’s Redemption is a second-chance romance packed with angst, emotional growth, and heart.

We meet Avery (who I already loved from book one) a single mom to her 9 year old daughter, Lila. Avery is truly amazing juggling work, studying to become a nurse, and being the best possible mother. She’s strong, loving, and completely devoted to her little girl.

Then there’s Cade. Ex-military, currently a mercenary, and on forced leave after things go sideways. And honestly? He is an asshole of epic proportions. He treats Avery terribly, and I wanted to kick him more times than I can count. Their relationship starts off physical (very much his idea), but Cade continuously pushes Avery away, only to pull her back again. The man is frustratingly stupid when it comes to emotions.

What I loved most is that Avery doesn’t let herself be walked over. She knows there’s something real between them, but once he hurts her badly enough, she draws a line. She’s steel, she won’t take his crap, and I adored that about her.

Will Cade realise he just pushed away his own happiness? Well… it wouldn’t be Cade’s Redemption if he didn’t. But whether Avery can truly forgive him, that’s something you’ll have to read to find out.

One of my absolute favourite parts of this book was Cade and Lila’s relationship. He is incredible with her, and those moments added so much heart and depth to the story.

The pacing and writing were fantastic, and once again, Lindi Mae worked her magic somehow making me like a man I wanted to strangle half the time.

Thank you so much, Lindi Mae, for trusting me with this ARC.

Avery?? My single-mom QUEEN. I was rooting for her from page one. She’s just trying to hold her world together with college, work, mom-life, and this found family she deserves SO MUCH. Her rules were simple…until Cade Carter walks back into Rose Valley like a whole storm in human form. Ex-military, mercenary, emotionally constipated, danger wrapped in muscle and secrets?? You expect me NOT to fall right alongside her?? Impossible.

And Cade. OH. MY. GOD. Cade Carter absolutely RUINED ME. The way this man said he doesn’t do love, doesn’t do forever, doesn’t stay—and then turns around and quietly becomes the safest, softest place for Lila?? The way he’s halfway gone but still reaching back for Avery like he can’t help himself??? That’s the kind of heartbreak that keeps you up at 2am rereading the same paragraph like a lunatic.

Their “no strings, just physical” deal??? Yeah okay sure. Tell me why my heart was pounding like I was the one making terrible, delicious decisions. Watching Avery fall even when she knew better, watching Cade try so hard not to feel anything and fail spectacularly—it was messy and real and addictive and I ate. it. UP.

And Lila. LILA. The way Cade slowly builds something with her?? Instant waterworks. I am weak for tough men melting for tiny humans.

This book was pain and hope and tension and found family and that slow, aching unraveling of two people who absolutely should not work but do. I wanted to shake them. I wanted to hug them. I wanted 500 more pages.

Cade- ex army, Mercenary. Very mysterious vibes. Huge walking red flag in the beginning. Hence the title 😂

Avery- Single mom in college for nursing. Lila is Avery's daughter. Just getting through life with the cards they were dealt.

This is a second chance romance. I was not a fan of cade in the beginning (I don't think you're suppose to like him 😂) the author did a fantastic job with his character. Portraying him as this hard shell that has no feelings. He's like an onion and you have to peel back the layers. Love/hate with him for sure.  I loved Avery! Hardworking mom doing her absolute best ❤️❤️ and LILA!!!!! Oh my goodness. Kids. She steals your heart immediately. She had my eyes trying to leak.

Overall I enjoyed the premise of this entire thing. It's an emotional ride. And a frustrating one at that. There's so much depth to this. You totally grasp and understand why Cade is the way he is. This was quite the journey.  It's like a mystery, action packed, romance movie!

Once you start peeling back Cades layers. Sigh. So good. I'm glad Avery stood her ground. She was a strong resilient FMC. Cade definitely redeemed himself 🥹

This is book 2. I didn't read book one (going back to read it though) I didn't feel lost on any of the characters. There was enough back story on everyone that I didn't feel I was missing anything by reading this one first. ❤️ I look forward to the next one!

✔️Mercenary
✔️Single mom
✔️Grumpy/Sunshine
✔️Found family
✔️Small town
✔️Angsty
✔️Sassy MFC

This is a smooth, easy-to-read romance with strong characters and great family dynamics.

The writing flows really well, making this a very readable book. I especially liked the main characters, Avery and Cade. Avery is a single mum who is fiercely independent and has worked hard to build a life for herself and her daughter. Her daughter is a true credit to her parenting. Cade, on the other hand, is the classic ex-military MMC—grumpy, stoic, emotionally closed off, and taking life far too seriously. He’s isolated himself from his otherwise loving family, which added an interesting layer to his character.

The chemistry between Avery and Cade is undeniable, though Cade is very clear (at least at first) that he only wants something physical—no emotions, no connection, just a “pump and dump.” Watching that mindset slowly unravel was engaging, especially with Avery refusing to accept anything less than she deserves.

One of the highlights of the book for me was the family dynamics. They added warmth, depth, and some much-needed balance to Cade’s gruff personality.

I do think the book could have been a bit shorter. Around the 55%–70% mark, I lost some interest as the focus on Fantasma felt repetitive and dragged on longer than necessary. That said, the story quickly found its footing again, and overall it was an enjoyable read.

Despite the pacing dip, this is still a solid romance, and I’m definitely interested in continuing the series—I’ll be picking up Garrett and Emily’s story next.

Thank you to the author for the ARC.

Hooked from the very first page and devouring every single word , becoming utterly invested in each and every character and reeling with so many emotions I never ever saw coming. This was my first time reading one of Lindis romances and it most definitely will not be my last . best friends brother , second chances , single mom , small town , non stop action, drama , love , passion, pain , obstacles, family , friendships and so much more . Avery and Cade - oh my gosh ,I most definitely was not prepared for these two , for the emotional rollercoaster they just took me on , because their journey was anything but easy . Two people who are polar opposites who have so many challenges to face to be together actually end up being the perfect fit . In all honesty I loved Avery from the beginning, but Cade he was definitely a different story. There were so many times I just wanted to reach right in and Knock him down a peg , he’s cocky and arrogant he’s a walking red flag. At least that’s how he appears to be . But underneath it all there’s so much more , so many different layers and complexities to his character and why he is the way he is . Just do yourself a favor and read Cade’s Redemption, I promise you will be so glad you did

If a Hallmark movie and a ghost-pepper romance had a baby, it would be Lindi Mae’s Cade’s Redemption — and I’m not mad about it. I usually crave ghost-pepper-level spice, but sometimes a story with a tight plot, small-town charm, and characters you can’t stop rooting for is just as satisfying. Especially when the heat level spikes into Carolina Reaper territory. Holy crap.

This is the second book in the Rose Valley Series, and while it can stand alone, I highly recommend starting with Ember’s Heart. The returning characters make Cade’s journey richer and more meaningful.

Cade, an Army veteran turned mercenary, comes home after a mission goes sideways and strikes up a “no strings” arrangement with his sister’s best friend — because those always work out well, right? I’ll stop there to avoid spoilers, but trust me: the tension is delicious.

I couldn’t put this book (or the first one) down, and I’m thrilled there are two more planned for 2026. If you’re craving a break from pure smut and want a love story that blends heart with heat, grab both of these books and settle in. The Rose Valley Series is worth the trip.

Cade is trained to not feel anything. He is trained to not let anything distract him. He’s cold and broody and stays to himself. Until her.

Avery she’s a single mom who started over just her and her daughter. She was a college student full time, worked and was raising her daughter. With a sassy attitude and doesn’t take crap from anyone

This spicy second chance romance will pull at your heart strings. It will have your emotions all over the place.

He treats her like crap and even though he knows there is a connection there. He thinks he is protecting from his work. They agreed it would be just s*x but that seems to not be the case. Cade doesn’t realize it until some tragic stuff happens and decides he needs to make some changes in his life and how he treats people.

Avery is so hurt that she decides to let him have it and doesn’t hold back. Lila her daughter is a mini me and doesn’t hold back either. They give Cade crap and he deserves it. Can they make it work? Does he deserve it?

This book is truly one of my favorites.

The Price of Redemption: Can Avery Forgive Cade?
Cade’s Redemption is a fiercely emotional second-chance romance that powerfully explores the cost of past mistakes. Cade didn't just reject Avery years ago—he destroyed her. Now he's back, a reformed man desperate to rebuild his life, and he needs Avery in it.
The central conflict is raw and gripping: Avery isn't sure she can risk having her heart ripped out again. This tension drives the entire book, making every interaction between them electric. Lindi Mae brings these characters to life so vividly that I was completely invested, cycling through laughter, tears, frustration, and excitement.
The 9-year-old daughter, Lila, is a brilliant addition, providing much-needed lightness and humor. Be ready for a spicy read! The story is captivating, the emotion is intense, and the redemption arc is fully satisfying. Highly recommend if you love high-stakes emotional conflict!

Cade is the guy you love to hate. He’s a grade A military a**. Avery wasn’t trying for a relationship. She Lila to think about. But when her and Cade run into each other, they decide to have a sexual only relationship. Not attachment. Because Cade is all about the guy that got away. But Avery fell for him. She didn’t mean to, but it happened. But the military called and Cade took off like Avery never mattered. She was hurt. Can’t blame the girl.
Cade pulled his head out of his rest end and realized that he messed up. But was it too late?
This book had twists and turns. Emotions and hurt. And of course it came equipped with spice. I really loved reading this one. You know it’s good when you’re reading and you want to kick the guys a**lol.
Linda is a new author for me, I got the opportunity to arc read this for her. And I’m really glad I was able to. I loved it in every sense of the word.

Cade is a man who is very set in his ways. He doesn't need a relationship, he certainly keeps his family wondering about where and how he is. To be honest he does everything how and when he wants. Or that's how it comes across. Until you realise he has some very deep seated issues. Avery is a single mom supporting her daughter on her own. working and studying, plus providing a safe home for nine year old Lila. She knows straightaway there's something between Cade and herself. But he really treats her awfully. But he was upfront about leaving when he's ready to go. No discussion he'll just go. But when he realises what he's lost can he change. Will Avery really want to risk hurting both her and Lila. This is a perfect steamy, grumpy man, and independent mom story you don't want to miss

Cade comes home and is not in a good place mentally. Physically, he's ok, but he has turned all his feelings off He doesn't even go to see his family who are very close to his cabin. He finally does and they are hurt he is so shut off from them. He meets Avery and Is very attracted to her but just wants sex. It took awhile for him to realize that he was hurting people and didn't mean to.
There are quite a few characters in this story and all add to the story in some way. It's a good story that kept me engaged until the end.

I love a second chance romance, and this is one to remember. Cade is ex-military and has been for some time, he just hasn't let anyone know. He is an emotionally depleted recluse that is not people friendly. Avery is a single mom who has trust issues, so we already know that they are going to butt heads. His rejection is brutal and when he tries for a second chance Avery is reluctant - but who can blame her because he already broke her heart and proved to be a flight risk. Lila, Avery's 9-year-old daughter, brings some light-hearted relief to temper the intensity of Avery and Cade's rocky relationship.

Wow! Talk about a character you want to smack down a peg! Cade starts so cocky and arrogant that someone just needs to beat him! I understood later why but did not like him at all in the beginning. I loved Avery and her feisty, mama bear, have to protect myself personality. She has been hurt a lot in her life but feelings snuck up on her.

This book has a lot of emotions to it. All of the characters bring different things to the book. You can’t help but root for them. The story sucks you in from the beginning and you don’t want it to end

Can’t wait for the next one!

Such an amazing book! So much emotion and drama! It was so good I didn’t want to put it down! Seriously, it is 4:04am here and I just finished!

Avery and Cade had a ROUGH start! And I wouldn’t have blamed Avery if she never would have talked to Cade again! But love persevered and the HEA was beautiful!!

Lila was an outstanding character, she was written so well that I could almost hear the sassy attitude! Just a fantastically written second chance story!! Definitely give this a read!!!

I wasn’t sure but wow.

I really struggled with Cade’s character in the beginning and wasn’t sure he could even have the redemption arc the author so clearly wanted to give him. Avery is just an amazing strong FMC and immediately I wanted the best for her and I wasn’t sure that could be Cade. But alas Lindi is a genius and I found myself starting to root for Cade as he was trying to earn Avery back again. And I’m so pleased with how Avery didn’t just roll over. She made Cade work for it. Made their HEA even more sweet. Can’t wait for the next one.

This was an action packed heartwrenching read

From start to finish this was an action packed story, whether it was the action theme or drama between the main characters, it was non-stop.
In this story we have Avery, our MFC. she is a single mum who has been left to make way on her own by her family after baby daddy abandoned them. She is fierce, independent, self-reliant, strong, and gives off “touch my daughter and just watch what I do” vibes.
Then we have Cade, our MMC, he is a mercenary, strong, loyal, protective, and he is obsessed with his villain but also with Avery. He epically messes up…
As well as action, this book is emotionally packed as well, a rollercoaster of lust, denial, anger, longing, broken trust, and love. We see great character development and both the MCs finding themselves again, Cade crawls for Avery and the redemption arc is sweet. This was a really good, angsty, heartwarming read!

I really enjoyed this read. Cade is in a battle literally and figuratively, between two different lives and has to choose which one to give up. Will he choose chaos or adjust to civilian life and choose love? I loved the dynamic between Cade and his family and how patient yet real they were with him. But also his families relation with the FMC, despite Cade, considering what hes been through. There was alot of growth throughout the book for both the MMC and FMC individually which you will see was needed in the end.

This has a lot of tropes, but it is basically a second chance romance. Cade was brutal when he rejected Avery and destroyed her. Now he is back and trying to get his life together. The one thing he needs is Avery. Avery isn't sure she is willing to give him another chance to rip her heart out. Lila, Abery's 9-year-old daughter, brings the comic relief. This is a fairly spicy read so be forewarned.

I love a book that makes you feel emotions as if you're the character. Cade comes home and is closed off. He has turned off his emotions because that's what he's use to. But there's something about Avery that pulls him to her. And Lila to me stole the whole show who also wormed herself I to Cades heart.

This book is a second chance romance with spice. Now I need to go back and read Ember's story while I wait for the next book.

Cade & Avery are something else!
From their first meeting to their HEA.
The way we get to see Cade over come his fears for a normal life and seeing Avery prove to herself time and time again that she’s a bada$$ single parent who is nailing life.. they are incredible!
Seeing the whole story lay out and the chances given due to proof of change was amazing to witness on the page.
A fantastic segment to a debut series.

Cade!!! Hot damn! Also the emotional damage from this book should be illegal. Second chance at love stories are usually not my jam but this character was so captivating, in a sucker for a hard ass military man. I think the spice more then made up for my less the love attitude towards the trope. I would definitely read more of any book with Cade as his character just draws you in. Respect to Avery for handling herself in a bad ass manner.

omg was Cade and butthole during this story. I struggled with how badly he treated Avery. Everytime she accepted less from him, I swear I yelled in frustration. especially the scene where he hurt her before being recalled back.

I'm glad she didnt make it easy for him to win her back. it took a lot for me to accept his growth considering where he started. overall I really enjoyed the story and can't wait for Cade's brothers to get their HEA.

Cade’s Redemption was full of interesting characters with depth, humor and some stubbornness. Cade tries his hardest not to feel anything but quickly finds a place for Avery in his heart. Throughout the book, Cade must fight his demons if he’s going to ever find love. Avery is strong and independent. Love the strong depiction of family values in the book.
