I hated Noah Cunningham from the moment I first laid eyes on the devious bastard, and now I'm going to kill him.
Our conflict started long ago. Noah and his group of criminals for hire made it their mission to mess with me and my crew. Screwing with our black market business. Now we've moved beyond that. Now it's either him or me.
When I'm approached by someone who wants me to take Noah out, I'm happy to accept the job. In no time the two of us are trying to kill each other. As much as I hate to admit it, there's something more going on here. Something that makes me ache to get Noah on his knees. To make him beg.
Maybe if I surrender to this urge just once, I'll finally be able to wipe him off the face of this earth. Or maybe I'll be signing my own death warrant.
This is an enemies to lovers MM dark romance. Content warnings can be found on the author's website. For readers 18+. This book can be read as a stand alone but it is recommended to start with Rebel.
I am the author of the Alexa O’Brien Huntress and the Rebel Heart series. I write urban fantasy that is dark and gritty with a twist of romance and horror but which is ultimately about people in dark places discovering who they are and what they’re made of.
I’ve been writing since the age of 9 when I had a Christmas themed short story published in the local town paper. A lover of rock music, vampires and muscle cars, I’m a dreamer who always secretly wanted to be a rockstar.
I love to hear from readers so don’t hesitate to drop me a line.
I’ve returned to my favorite organ stealing thieves. (Possible spoilers ahead) I guess they would all be about 21/22 now (they’re in the last year of college)
This is a standalone, but I definitely think you need to read the others in the series to understand what’s going on.
So Dom is with the Graveyard Kings and Noah is with a rival gang. These two have been teased in the last 3 books. These MCs HATE each other, but they don’t. The smexual tension has been simmering. Noah is openly Gay. Dom has experimented before, but he’s mostly been with women.
The book starts with the two MCs fighting, then Noah gets smex from another guy even though he wants Dom. Let me tell you- Dom and Noah fight A LOT. I started to feel a little uncomfortable with how much they physically assaulted each other. I’m not talking about tussling, I’m talk about FULL ON punches. Busting each other’s lips, eyes, and noses. Dom was always hitting Noah.
Then they both get an anonymous contract to ☠️ each other. Dom rigs Noah’s car to blow up. Noah rigs Dom’s car to lose its tires. Yikes Literally, everybody is telling these two to fk and get it over with. I’m just sitting here going 😱 OMG THEY TRIED TO ACTUALLY ☠️ EACH OTHER! WUT????
There are a few moments where they “explore” each other, but the actual smex doesn’t happen until about 50% in. Yes, it’s spicy, but I also think it didn’t get too detailed and the scenes were short. (Was this the authors first M/M book??)
Noah gets kidnapped and Dom saves him. That’s when their whole relationship takes a drastic 180 and they move to the ILYs. I’d say by 82%, they are both ALL IN. The two gangs merge. I think the shift was jarring.
Auryn’s book is next. He’s the biggest manho in the gang, so it will be interesting to see how he gets tamed by love. When I say manho- I mean it. This guy has a different woman everyday. Sometimes 2/3 at a time. 🤪
