πππππππ ππ π±ππππππππππ ππππππππππ’. I havenβt spoken a word in years. Silence became my survival when pain carved itself into my skin and stole my voice. Now Iβm at Blackthorne Universityβan elite school where shadows wear masks, secrets rule, and The Hollow Saints decide who survives and who doesnβt.
I should have stayed invisible. I should have kept my head down. But then I saw him.
Flynn Hale.
My stepbrother. My first promise. My biggest betrayal. He thinks he knows what happened to me in that house. He doesnβt. He only knows pieces of the truthβnot the nights that left scars down my back, or the way silence became the only safe place I had left.
I hate that he still looks at me like Iβm his to protect. I hate that part of me still wants to believe him. And I hate most of all that in Blackthorne, love isnβt just forbiddenβitβs deadly. Because here, weakness is prey. And The Hollow Saints already have their eyes on me.
Wow this one is for my dark romance boys and girls, because it is dark like real dark. But yes I loved every second of it. Couldn't put it down! The story was fast paced and gave me anxiety every page. But the good kind. The writing style was easy to follow but I can't say this enough. Check the trigger warnings before you start reading it! It's the first book in a duet and ends on a brutal cliffhanger.
So about the story! The story is about Delilah who has been tormented and abused in every single way by monsters that needed to keep her safe and loved. Because of this severe trauma she has become mute. She keeps al her trauma to herself and not even tells her best friend and stepbrother Flynn. Flynn is obsessed with his stepsister and loves her. Put even he can't keep her safe when Delilah goes to college.

"I used to scream, beg, cry and plead, but that was long ago. I stopped once I learned that being silent is safer, until I understood that words can be twisted and bent into weapons."
"Because I wanted him to believe I was okay. Because I wanted to believe it too."
"They saw my skin today. The world knows a piece of me now."
"She used to run toward me, not away. She used to laugh, not fold into silence. Somewhere along the line, I lost her. Somewhere, she broke."
"I want to hate him. I do. But I want him to come back more."
Absolutely loved how gripping this book was! I was definitely on the edge of my seat in the last half of the book.
If you enjoy a story that switches perspectives cleanly and makes you feel the way the characters do, you will love this book. Each part makes you want to keep reading. I definitely had such a hard time putting it down.
One of the best things about this book is the way Delilahβs backstory is carefully woven into it. Itβs not just thrown in your face all at once. I appreciate that. I also love how she doesnβt feel fake. She feels like a real person. Thatβs something that distinguishes an author from a writer. A writer can tell a story, while an author can make you feel like youβre experiencing and watching it firsthand.
I enjoyed how the ending leaves you on a cliffhanger. I canβt wait to read more of this series and figure out what happens next!

3.5β This story has potential but is not quite there yet. It was hard to follow at times. I would have liked more back story on Delilah, her step brother and her childhood. Where is her mom? Why did this happen to her? I was left with lots of questions. I honestly feel that this could be an amazing story but that it just isn't quite there yet. I'm very interested in all the answers. Leaves you hanging at the end. arc
Oh boy this one was so sad. It really broke my heart what she went through and honestly Flynn broke my heart too. They both were failed. The book was amazing. Told the story great. I hate the ending though how dare you!!! Iβm a person of simple words so if you like it dark and traumatic this is the one for you!!! Thanks for letting me arc read
Reading this book is so sad knowing what both characters went through. This book involves a secret society, it is taboo romance. I was tearing up throughout it and with how the book ended I need more. I highly recommend this book but please check the trigger warnings before reading to make sure you are comfortable with it. It is a quick read and I canβt wait to read more books by this author.
Scars you crave is not an easy or comforting read, and it doesnβt offer clean answers, but that is part of its appeal. While not flawless, itβs got intensity, angst, and a lingering emotional impact. I enjoyed this one but check your trigger warnings.
