I'm a DL Keur fangirl. The King and Midnight series had captured me with the first 3 in the series. But, boy howdy, book 4 is a fast-paced thriller. There's hardly a slow-down moment in the entire book.
Even Rayne (who was beginning to irritate me) stands firm and shows the moxie we all wanted her to have. Go, Rayne! You'll make me a believer in your yet.
Many others we've seen mentioned throughout the series come to the forefront in different ways and it's great to see the entire sheriffs' office coming together to find their missing Sheriff. It's not easy since the bad guys are always on the move with multiple vehicles to confuse those trying to locate them. Good to see technology put to use and not treated like evil incarnate (what is with the bias against A.I.?).
Anyway, the fast pace leaves you a little breathless, the depth of background leaves you puzzling (especially Rayne's criminal family), and the good writing leaves you wanting more.
Great addition to the series, to Keur's bibliography, and our reading pleasure.

Intense
A lot happening in this book, sometimes hard to follow the character tie ins, especially those tied to Rayne's father. Now a brother that hates Rayne.
The Sheriff is kidnapped outside his fav bakery & taken to a bunker. Then Rayne decides to go rogue to find info and aid rescuing Hank but ends up kidnapped as well.
But the person the kidnappers really want is Mike. Can he along with Snappy trust a monthly feel has responsibility in not only these kidnappings but maybe his wife's death as well. Maybe, maybe not, but it seems that his only option is to make a deal with the devil.

Edge of Your Seat, Nail Biting, OMG Drama
This is one of the fastest, thrilling rides you'll ever want to take. From page one, you are drawn into an impossible situation, racing against the clock (with the characters), hoping against everything for the save to happen. Intense, believable, hard to top action. Well written and worth every second. I literally devoured this book in one sitting...Just could NOT put it down! I am an avid reader and have read all 4 of this series. Going to be hard to top this one! READ IT!

overall very exciting
I enjoyed the four books in the KING AND MIDNIGHT K9 MYSTERIES series. (I kept seeing Keneu Reeves in the role of Mike!)
As much as I enjoyed the books, I had two minor issues. The first was the author’s style of writing- choppy sentences and stilted language made them somewhat difficult to read. The second was the “teaching methods “ Mike employed when dealing with Rankin’s weaknesses annoyed me to no end. His character is very lucky he wasn’t dealing with a more sophisticated character!

The King & Midnight K-9 Mysery series Book 4
I have been enthralled with whole series! I imagine, Midnight, the main character being played by Keanu Reeves! This is an incredible, gotta keep reading, series that just won't you put it down! I wish this to be made into a TV miniseries starring Keanu. He would become Midnight because he can! Thank you for these wonderful books! Sitting on the edge in wait for the next one!

stickler for details
I depend on your details to paint me the story within the story. Sometimes I get sometime you and sometimes I don’t, but I am looking. Another great story. My only issue is Rayne’s sneaking around to help vs talking first. This going against the flow and thinking she knows better diminishes the female character. I have several books in progress where i have stopped because the heroine is doing something stupid . Why is this a theme?

Why do they want Detc. Mike?
Do not expect to get any sleep once the reading has started. I could not put the book down. So much for sleep. But this was a really great story and it filled in some of the things that were mentioned from the past in his wife's death. But again there was so much more. Now I want the next as soon as possible.

Zero TOLERANCE is a fast moving suspense novel with a driving sense of urgency that can keep the reader up at night. The author (Dawn) says in her remarks that she writes books that she would want to read. This sounds like the golden rule of authorship, (Do unto others as you wish to be did). In any case Dawn writes a hell of a story which will keep the reader coming back for more.

Great book
Enjoyed going back to mike and king. Was a bit lost at first. Because I wasn't sure how the story was from.
Watch the spelling errors they are distracting.
Exciting and held me from the first.

By truly observing a situation and allowing your subconscious time to absorb everything, you will kn
I especially liked that this story tells exactly what the hero was thinking at all times. Sometimes in order sometimes not.
I would definitely recommend this book to people who read all genres of stories.

Outstanding
High octane, fast paced, life and/or death. This is a can't put it down, wake up in the middle of the night to keep reading because it so engrossing. Read it. You'll be glad you did.

I recommend this book and series
I am really enjoying this series. I have also read and liked many of her other books. She writes good mysteries and they have dogs in them! Some of her stories are just as dark as any written by men.

This is such a great read---I have enjoyed the series with its well developed characters and intense plots. I like having the technical issues explained to me as I am unfamiliar with weapons in general. I can hardly wait for the next book!

great series
This series is very good. Very technically written so you have to think, but that’s a good thing. The characters are wonderful and hit home with me. I am so excited there will be another book.

Not sure how Keur's books can get any better!
Characters, plot, setting, gritty details and a well written book is hard to beat. Danger, cold blooded murder can be hard to deal with, but it is wrapped in the flow of the story so fits right in.
Highly recommend D. L. Keur's work!

This is an excellent series and I can't wait until the next book. I will probably go back and reread the whole series before reading book 6.. it's just that good of a series. Excellent characters and no wasted words.

I love this series! The writing is simply beautiful. The author creates a world of tension, extreme difficulties, and powerful characters who find their way through. Definitely worth reading.

There is so much to this twisty, intense story. Intrigue and great characters fill the pages with mystery, suspense, and action. It is definitely a book I will re-read. Very entertaining!

It’s nice to read a clean and interesting book!
When I read anything by Keur, I know that I’ll read an interesting story with fun and well developed characters, probably a dog or maybe a pack of dogs, and no bad language or sex. It’s also freeing to know that the good guys win, and the dogs never die!
