The last book in this series and probably one, that triggered more emotions than any of the previous one did. I was terrified, I was sad, happy, I was crying and then laughing. And I think this series is the first after-Harry-Potter series that I enjoyed so much. I must had forgotten that you can immerse yourself in story to such an extend. That after finishing it, you'll dream about it and wish It had happened to you. Pierdomenico Baccalario created a wonderful adventure. An adventure every kid dreams to have (and some of us, adults, too). Travelling to distant lands that exist only in imagination sounds like dream come true. And if only I had a Door to Time and a key, I think I'd be the happiest person in the world.
There was a lot of things that I liked and loved in this book. Thirst I mentioned before, in another review. It's the fact that the author used all of his previous characters. So we meet Oblivia and Manfred again along with Kilmore Cove hairdresser Gwendoline. And even though their roles are rather small, I'm glad that he hadn't forgot about them.
Even teenage love, the one that irritated me before, made me watery eyed. Especially the scene where Julia and Rick finally confess their love. I love those two. But the one scene that finally put tears in my eyes was reunion of Ulysses and Penelope. It was simple yet very touching.
If I had to pick my favourite moment in the whole book...I'd pick the beginning of the last chapter, because it starts exactly as the second chapter in the first book that had the exact same title. Though it was in different house. But still, I loved it.
The one thing I regret is that it's over. And even though Baccalario ended everyone's stories quite neatly I feel unsatisfied. But I always had issues with endings. I just don't like things to end. But with books things are much easier, because you can always go back and read everything again from the very start. Relive the adventure, meet again characters you love. And when I'd feel like the reality is crushing me, I'll surely take one of Ulyssess Moore books in my hand and read it again.

El capitán Spencer está atacando Kilmore Cove y los únicos que pueden hacer algo para detenerlo son Jason y Julia. Mientras, Rick y Tommaso aún están atrapados en la Venecia renacentista, son perseguidos por la guardia del Dogo; y Nestor está buscando a Penélope. Sin embargo, los mellizos no están solos ya que otros muchos amigos están viajando para detener el ataque, aunque ¿lograrán llegar a tiempo?
La verdad es que tenía muchas ganas de leer el libro puesto que ya me había leído hasta el libro 15 de la saga, pero en los posteriores los protagonistas son otros y no sabía qué es lo que había pasado con el trío de amigos original. La verdad es que el libro en general no ha estado mal, se cierran tramas que quedaban abiertas y aparecen personajes que aparecían al principio pero creo que el autor da demasiadas vueltas a las cosas. Yo creo que la saga estaba bien hasta el octavo libro, con la trama de averiguar quién era Ulysses Moore y el secreto de las llaves y las puertas del tiempo, pero a partir del noveno la trama se empezó a complicar con los cuadernos de Maurice Moro, los Incendiarios y la introducción de muchísimos personajes. Creo que a partir de ahí el autor se fue desviando y la base de la historia se fue perdiendo. No digo que no me gusten los cambios que fue introduciendo el autor aunque viendo que el público al que va dirigido son niños quizás en momentos se puedan perder. Sin embargo, esta saga es de mis favoritas y no me cansaría de leer los primeros libros y descubrir todos los misterios y retos que aguardan en sus páginas.

E finalmente sono arrivata al volume che conclude questo ciclo di avventure tra le Porte del Tempo. Il Capitano Spencer è riuscito ad arrivare a Kilmore Cove per ottenere la sua vendetta. Julia e Jason hanno bisogno di aiuto per contrastarlo, ma Rick, Tomaso e Peter sono ancora nell'antica Venezia, e di Ulysses non sanno nulla. Non hanno speranza di sconfiggere Spencer... O forse sì?
In questo libro si risolvono molti dei misteri dei precedenti volumi. Dov'è finita Penelope? È ancora viva? E perché Spencer vuole vendetta? C'è ancora qualche Costruttore in giro? Vengono fatti riferimenti anche alle avventure passate dei ragazzi e tutto finalmente si lega per arrivare alla fine di questa lunga avventura.
Abbiamo visto i ragazzi crescere e rendersi conto davvero delle loro abilità, e mi mancheranno. Da quello che ho visto, non sono loro i protagonisti dal tredicesimo libro in poi. A loro tempo non li avevo letti, quindi sarà tutto nuovo.
In Il club dei Viaggiatori Immaginari troviamo dei nuovi personaggi, che non sono esplorati molto a dire il vero. Sono lì solo per dare un aiuto ai personaggi di sempre. Mi riferisco in particolare a JohnDoo e Pandora. Del primo sappiamo pochissimo, a parte il fatto che fa parte della ciurma di Spencer e che da ordini alle scimmie che compono il resto dell'equipaggio. Per quanto riguarda Pandora, invece, parliamo di un personaggio "positivo" in quanto aiuta Ulysses e il giovane Flint (ma trattandosi di un abitante dei Porti Oscuri ci deve essere molto di più su di lei di quello che abbiamo visto in questo libro). Pandora sa più di quello che da a vedere e grazie a lei scompriamo qualcosa di più sulla Metis, la barca di Ulysses, e sulla Mary Grey, di proprietà di Spencer.
Ma il personaggio più importante e che finalmente conosciamo "nella carne" e non solo per sentito dire da altri personaggi è proprio il Capitano Spencer: scopriamo la sua storia e le ragioni che lo portano a volersi vendicare. Nel complesso è un personaggio che io metterei nella sfera "grigia", sicuramente non buono, ma neanche davvero malvagio.
Per il resto, ci sono i personaggi che abbiamo conosciuto fino ad ora: Black Vulcano, Leonard Minaxo, Nestor/Ulysses, Jason, Julia, Rick, Tommaso, Calypso, Anita, i Fratelli Forbice, Voynic, Peter...
Nessuno di loro ha un cambiamento che non abbiamo già visto nei volumi precedenti, tranne forse verso l'evoluzione del rapporto tra Rick e Julia. E Calypso, che protegge un segreto che potrebbe cambiare le carte in tavola ed aiutare i nostri a sconfiggere Spencer definitivamente.
Per quanto riguarda l'ambientazione, ci troviamo sempre nell'antica Venezia e a Kilmore Cove. Gli unici posti nuovi che i personaggi esplorano e di cui si parla sono i Porti Oscuri, posti immaginari da cui non si può far ritorno e in cui abitano i criminali.
Come sempre, il tutto è correlato da disegni le cui descrizioni sono però cambiate, come fossero state scritte da Ulysses stesso.
Nel complesso il libro mi è piaciuto e l'ho trovato una degna conclusione di questo ciclo di avventure.

Pamiętam, jak przeżywałam ten finał, gdy byłam młodsza... Teraz dostrzegam wady tej serii (tej konkretnej książki też), ale tak ja uwielbiam, że chyba nigdy nic mi jej nie zniszczy.

'Het was juffrouw Stella die op een dag dat pakje kreeg!'
Ik ga hier niet te veel woorden aan vuilmaken. Het meeste van wat ik bij de vorige boeken in de reeks heb gezegd, geldt ook voor dit boek. Er zijn echter een paar pluspunten aan dit deel, die eigenlijk allemaal op hetzelfde neerkomen: ze geven een uitleg aan gebeurtenissen die op het einde van Boek 6 - De Eerste Sleutel voorvallen. Dat betekent concreet dat in dit boek meneer Marriett en Oblivia terugkomen, en zelfs Manfred zien we heel eventjes verschijnen. Jammer dat Maruk uit beeld blijft. Hoe het met Penelope allemaal uitdraait, is wel grappig: uiteindelijk had het verhaal, mits alles anders gelopen was, in Boek 2 - De Winkel van de Vergeten Kaarten afgelopen kunnen zijn.
Maar al bij al: wat een teleurstelling, deze Reeks 2, tegenover Reeks 1. Het einde was op zich nog oké, maar dat neemt niet weg dat heel wat mis is met dit en de voorgaande delen.

Ze is niet vertaald in het Nederlands, maar in het Italiaans zijn er nóg zes boeken verschenen na Boek 12. Die heb ik een paar jaar geleden gekocht en gelezen, maar ik kan je zeggen dat ik daar ook niet van onder de indruk was. Op het einde van dit boek , en in Boek 13 (Il Nave del Tempo, 'De Boot van de Tijd') kom je erachter wat ermee gebeurd is. De focus verschuift naar compleet nieuwe personages - de oude (hoofd)personages worden aan de kant geschoven en worden zelfs nog nauwelijks vernoemd. Die nieuwe personages volg je tot en met Boek 17, en Boek 18 (La Grande Estate, 'De Grote Zomer') is een afzonderlijk verhaal dat zich afspeelt in die Grote Zomer, die zo van belang is in Reeks 2. Al bij al niet echt erg dat die niet vertaald zijn. Reeks 1 steekt overal met kop en schouders bovenuit.

Je suis très attachée à cette série parce que c’est elle qui m’a fait découvrir la lecture et qui a fait naître ma passion pour les livres. Alors même s’il m’aura fallu presque 12 ans pour lire ces 12 tomes (ou peut-être PARCE que ça m’a pris 12 ans), arriver à ce dernier livre était un mélange d’émotions. Retrouver tous ces personnages une dernière fois était fantastique, j’ai ri, pleuré, j’ai été nostalgique, mais aussi reconnaissante d’avoir encore une aventure à vivre et impressionnée par le travail dont l’auteur a fait preuve pour cette série. Je reconnaissais tous ces noms quand j’étais petite ; Ulysse, Pénélope, Dedalus, Circé... mais je crois que je ne m’etais pas rendue compte de la puissance de l’exploitation de cette mythologie avant de lire ce tome-là.
Les premiers tomes ont fait voyager mon coeur de rêveuse et ce dernier tome aura fait rêver mon coeur de voyageuse.

I can't believe that it's finally over... A trully amazing experience. I will miss those characters and thise series so much. After 12 books, you definately become attached to it, you fell like you were part of the adventure. And, to tell you the truth, you were. You see all the secrets and mysteries unfold before you along with the the 3 protagonists, you reach the ending together. An ending you didn't want to see, not yet, but all the good things must end someday.
I loved the fact that Genious! It made me really happy to see old characters and things from past book mentioned again.

Très grosse larme a l'œil car c'est l'une de mes série préférée !
Notre fameux manfred est revenu dans le dernier tome juste pour faire un petit coucou et c'est mon perso préféré mdrr
Jason dans le livre serait totalement capable de laisser mourir ses parents juste pour suivre son intuition (c'est un danger public) mais rick et Julia rattrapent le coup !
Bref ca va etre une serie que je vais lire 1 fois tout les 2 / 3 ans et qui restera toujours dans mon cœur 🥲

An amazing adventure series I couldn't stop reading! I had to learn to read in Italian in order to finish the series in Italian, because only the first 4 books are translated to English.

At last i ended it!!It was a nice end to this whole story!I loved it as i loved all the books of this serie!They all found what they wanted and they were all happy in the end after what they have been through.Happily ever after as they usually say.It is a wonderful read for everyone who want to read a fantasy,YA,mystery,most adventure and action, with a little bit of romance book.I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone not only this book but the whole series.This book and the other ones before it were not big neither short ones. But ok i hope there will not be another book after that (13rd one in this series).In my opinion these 12 books are enough. After all this adventure ended so well.There is no reason to continue and tell more.How much can this continue?? :-P
