I really wish I had this book when I was a teenager. A lot of Stefanie’s mindfulness exercises I didn’t get learn about until I was in therapy as young adult. This book reads as a practice book too. If one style of mindfulness doesn’t work for you, keep on reading! Each segment prompts you to write down your reflections and encourages you to give each method a try. Having this book as a teen would’ve really helped enter my young adult years with much more clarity in my head.
This book goes over many different methods of grounding exercises and how to focus your thoughts through textures, colors, scents, smells (IYKYK), the body, and so much more! Life is hard enough, we don’t need to be crippled by the thoughts in our heads.
If you haven’t had the luxury of Stefanie teaching you mindfulness in person, grab a copy of this book. This is a vessel that’s going to help so many more people beyond the classroom walls. Whoever’s reading this review, may the tools you learn help you and stick with you throughout your life time.
This is the book we’ve been waiting for! Stefanie has taken the somewhat elusive concept of Mindfulness and made it simple and easy to understand. This is a tool that all students (and adults!) should learn as they navigate challenging emotions and situations. The book provides several Mindfulness practices that are appropriate for different situations and different personalities. Stefanie walks us through each practice step by step and then includes space for the reader to reflect on its effectiveness. The author shares her personal stories as a way to connect with the reader and it is quite effective. We can all relate to feeling overwhelmed, critical, and dissatisfied with ourselves at times. She shows us how these tools helped her cope with the challenging emotions and provides us with not only the tools, but the encouragement to deal with our own. A must read for anyone who has children, works with them, or used to be one!
I read this for my work with Constructing Confidence, and when I served as the moderator of the author, Stefanie Lachenauer and a public school Principal on the topic of the parent > educator connection. This is a great book for teens (and parents!!) that explains mindfulness and offers easy ways to practice it in everyday teen lives. I highly recommend this book! And it is something offered for FREE on Amazon.
