The Order of Disorder is behind her, the life Max survived reduced to aftermath and reckoning. But what comes next…is complicated.
Ryder, Wyatt, Damian, and Jake. Each man is a protector, a confidant, and a temptation. Together, they’re her sanctuary.
With the O.D. in ruins, the man behind it steps back into the light, with clean hands, a perfectly polished smile, and every loose end neatly cut.
Except Max is a loose end.
Reckoning with her own trauma, she has to learn what safety feels like when it isn’t conditional—while the five of them negotiate desire, loyalty, and possession without tearing apart the fragile balance they’re building.
And when the past begins to surface, the man who thought he’d stacked the deck learns just how fast a house of cards can fall.
Dead Man’s Hand is the final book in the Snakes & Daggers trilogy. A dark, emotionally charged reverse harem romance about aftermath, power, and chosen family. It is not a standalone.
Astra Rose writes stories that explore taboos and power imbalances, including age gap and daddy kink. She is the author of Off Limits and Haven.
Hailing from Canada, Astra needs to write hot erotic fiction to stay warm. That's also why her words contain so many extra vowels. She's proud to write stories that make you feel something and believes that smut is (actually, physiologically) good for you.
An absolutely great way to finish a series. I think it’s hard to do justice to characters, especially in a why choose when finishing a series. This one ended exactly how I wanted. I truly felt like Max found her way, and it also didn’t feel rushed? Like we covered all the bases. Also, Astra writes the best spice and you can’t convince me otherwise.
I’m going to miss these men so much!!! But truly, this whole series made me fall in love with dark romance!! A must read if you’re looking for a completed why choose dark romance trilogy 🖤
I love a good reverse harem and throw in a little protective ex-military type and it’s amazing! The completion of this three book series was the perfect wrap up to this story line. These four guys are the perfect complement to each other and Max just fits in between them all. Great story, couldn’t put it down.
First off, a massive thank you to Astra Rose for trusting me with an ARC of this book. I’ve been impatiently waiting for this release, and she’s an absolute sweetheart for putting it in my hands early.
This wrap‑up hit me right in the feels in the best way. It was healing, chaotic, emotional, and honestly? I’m so damn happy for Max. My girl finally found herself, and I was cheering the whole time!
We jump straight in after Max and Wyatt’s jailbreak from O.D. Headquarters, and suddenly she’s back with the boys—MY boys—and listen… I practically sprinted back into their arms. Zero shame. I missed those chaotic, loyal, morally‑questionable disasters like crazy.
And then? We get the deep cuts. The scars. The history. The brotherhood. What Hellbent actually means. The Snakes and Daggers origin story? I ate that up like it was my last meal. Everything comes full circle in a way that made me want to stand up and slow‑clap in my living room.
But the questions this book answered? What happens to the clubhouse now? Is Max actually safe or is she still looking over her shoulder every five minutes?? And her and the boys… oh honey, that tension is NOT done with us. Not even close!
If you’ve made it this far in the series, you owe it to yourself to finish it. It’s wild, emotional, messy, and absolutely worth every second. You will NOT be disappointed—if anything, you’ll be feral like me.
This dark trilogy has been quite a journey — a true emotional rollercoaster for me.
From the hope of something new, to the excitement of new beginnings and sensations; from the consequences of omissions driven by fear of losing, to watching life fall apart; from returning to hell, to despair and hitting rock bottom — and then surviving, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and fighting toward it (even if it felt more like crawling than running).
Where will their journey lead them?
They escape hell, but now they must face the consequences of bad decisions and lies, with overwhelming emotions thrown into the mix.
One of the greatest lessons of this trilogy is never to underestimate a woman. Our FMC has lived a complicated life. Many have tried to subjugate, dominate, and belittle her. But when she meets our MMCs, she discovers that someone can make her feel valued, desired, and loved — without expecting anything in return.
After tasting freedom, being forced to return to hell was devastating. But she is a survivor. A fighter. And she does everything in her power to escape. With the help of our brave and remarkable MMCs, she manages it — but they still cannot claim their freedom.
There are too many loose ends. And once again, our FMC proves that revenge is a dish best served cold. Karma can be a beautiful thing.
Now they face the final and most important battle of all — the fight for their HEA.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Astra Rose absolutely delivers with Dead Man’s Hand, the third book in the Snakes and Daggers trilogy, and somehow raises the stakes even higher. This installment is darker, sharper, and emotionally brutal in the best way. Max (FMC) continues to be a powerhouse smart, scarred, and impossible not to root for. Her chemistry with Ryder is electric, but what really makes this book shine is the complex web of loyalty, tension, and danger surrounding her. Damian brings an intensity that kept me constantly wondering what he was thinking, while Wyatt adds depth and unexpected heart. And Jake every scene he’s in feels like the gorgeous golden retriever he is. The plot of this series is fast-paced and relentless, with twists that genuinely surprised me and emotional moments that hurt. Astra Rose masterfully balances action, romance, and psychological tension, tying together threads from the earlier books while still leaving you breathless page after page. If you’ve followed this trilogy from the beginning (Book One-Hell Bent and Book Two- The Order of Disorder), Dead Man’s Hand is a deeply satisfying, high-impact conclusion. And if you love morally gray characters, found family vibes, and romance threaded through danger this book is an absolute must read. I closed it with a book hangover and zero regrets.
Starting my review saying that Astra Rose knows how to write good spice👀😆🤭I was lucky enough to be a part of the ARC team for this trilogy and I loved the whole series! For me this was a 5⭐️ with a good 4🌶️.
•Why choose •Ex-Military •MC •Forced Proximity •Chosen family
This ending was the perfect way to end the series. After they rescue Max and Wyatt, there’s a lot to figure out both on the emotional side and the aftermath of the MC club. The trauma is real, the tension is sucking me in and despite the spice (which is SO SO good) I feel the love between Max and her men. That makes this so much more than «just a spicy» book. I was hooked from the very beginning of the first book. They need to be read in order:
1. Hellbent 2. The Order of Disorder 3. Dead Man’s Hand
Dead Man’s Hand is book three in the Snakes & Daggers series. You MUST read this series in order. Definitely not a stand alone.
Ryder, Wyatt, Jake and Damian are closer than brothers. Have always had each others back and worked as one. Max shows up in book one and throws their world on its head.
Book one and book two left me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t wait to see how this series continued. Book three blew me away! Hot and Spicy. Emotional. Heartbreaking. Empowering.
These characters work through so many demons and issues. They tackle every obstacle.
Max is a tiny woman. But she brings these four alpha, larger than life men to their knees.
The final chapter of the snakes and daggers was exactly what was needed to wrap it all up. All the answers to the questions that were left open in The Order of disorder. The relationships between them all sorted and put into perspective. The end of plans beginning for the club. Let’s just say everyone gets what they deserve in the end. You’ll have to read it to find out how but let’s just say it’s just as passionate, just as much vengeance and pride and possession as ever. If you expected a nice little bow…then you haven’t been paying attention to this series…it’s messy and dramatic and so much more. Thank you Astra Rose for sharing these characters and their story with us. Such a good ending/beginning for these guys! Love it.
This has been a wild and intense series and I was thrilled to dive into this final book. You need to read this series in order as each book builds on the last and you just won't get it, or the character growth, without the pages before. This book really was gripping and filled with a ton of emotions, challenges, danger, action, drama and very hot spice. Max and her men go through so much and they face it all. Ryder, Wyatt, Jake and Damian fit so well with Max and it's funny because of how tiny she is compared to them. She really did bring them to their knees ;P Expect to be hooked, beginning to end when you crack this baby open, and feel so satisfied when you hit that last page. Well written and just well done!
Dead Man’s Hand by Astra Rose is the final book in the Snakes & Daggers trilogy. It’s a reverse‑harem romance that focuses more on emotional healing and relationships than action. The story follows Max after the main danger is over, as she deals with trauma and builds a stable life with the men who protect and love her. The tone is dark, emotional, and reflective, with a slower pace. Best for: readers who liked the earlier books and want emotional closure. Not ideal for: new readers or those wanting fast‑paced action.
Across the trilogy: Hellbent throws Max, the heroine, into chaos The Order of Disorder shifts the balance of power Dead Man’s Hand focuses on the emotional aftermath and closure
Amazing!! I loved it. it has everything and was the perfect finishing novel for this series. The 2 ALL scenes were just perfection. Astra is a phenomenal author. I have read a lot of her novel and have enjoyed each one. out of the box thinking, makes the reader feel what they are reading as if it is their life. Characters were great, plot was great, emotional connection was great. The only thing I'm a little dissapointed about is that it ended. I wanted more. I wanted to know what their future holds. Marriage, Children and what not. If any of that happened. It is selfish of me yes, however, as the novel stands its a great read and I look forward to her next novel!
I’m not sure what to do with myself now after finishing this series, which was in of my most anticipated reads of the year.
Astra’s writing style and story telling is so unique and unlike anything I’ve read in a longtime. The gritty way this series unfolded and the realistic relationships between the characters kept me hooked and had me devouring page after page.
Book 3 gave us everything we needed as a conclusion to an amazing series!
And that spice? This book DELIVERED 🥵🥵🥵🥵 all with some of the best why choose communication happening among the men…swoon!
Love the way that Astra finished this series. What a fantastic way to do it!!!! As with the other two books, there are twists and turns that you do not expect. The complexity of the plot and storyline is fantastic. This one is darker and more emotionally taxing but in the way that you'd expect from the author. Ryder, Wyatt, Damian, Jake are all fantastic alphas that protect and keep Max the best possible ways. She's so amazingly written that you can't help but to root for this poly to make it to their HEA. Love the story.
Looove!! I think series is her best writing yet, I absolutely loved the characters! And the fact that the guys are all so different, it made it easy to be able to picture each of them clearly, and the different relationship they each have with Max. I enjoyed that this was not your typical RH where all people are together at the same time, every time. You get one on one with the guys, two of the guys, and all four, which made for a more diverse reading experience and I felt it also added to the dynamics of each relationship, separately and as a whole. The cliffhangers on the first two books will get you hooked, and it's all wrapped up nicely by the end of book three and I didn't feel like I had a bunch of unanswered questions. Probably my new faves from Astra!
★”I never accounted for my past reaching into my present and dragging me back.”★
Rescue, recovery, and revelations. Reunited with her men, Max and each member will have to feel their way back to each other, come to terms with everything that has happened, and iron out the why’s and how’s. What they have could work, but her past is not quite done with her just yet. A very satisfying conclusion to this trilogy!
What a fantastic conclusion to Max's story! It grabbed my attention from the beginning and I was hooked till the end! It was filled with danger, action, drama, and spice. So many emotions can be felt throughout too. I truly loved each of Max's men. However, Max is who impressed me the most. Her resilience, growth, and strength throughout the series. What a great trilogy and a satisfying ending to go with it!
Ugh! I so wanted to give this book more stars!!! I absolutely adore these characters (hmm.. maybe not the FMC as much as the rest.. I feel like her response to certain situations are very blasé sometimes) but I feel like this book just didn’t have enough of a plot - like the plot she put in this book was basically one sentence and then the rest of the book was just smut. It would’ve been nice if there was more action and thrill like the previous book.
2.75/5.00 star rating (rounded up) 3.50/5.00 spice rating

Thoughts:
I expected more of a climax with the biker gang and the governor. It seemed way too easy and was over without any hiccups. The way the relationship ended between the MMCs and the FMC was different than other books I’ve read. They don’t all live together? This wasn’t the ending I was hoping for in the slightest and was honestly a bit of a let down.
Loved this final installment of Snakes & Daggers. Astra Rose's take on reverse harem is refreshingly different from other authors - it's more real but without losing any of the heat. And as usual, her writing is stunningly beautiful. Can't wait for what you have planned for us next.
Really good finale to the series.I enjoyed the relationship dynamic between the characters though I would have preferred if they all ended up living together at the end. Going from one house to the other is definitely not sustainable. All in all I enjoyed it. Thanks for the ARC Astra Rose!!!

Holy fuck! Holy fuck! This trilogy was everything! What a beautiful way to end it and give everyone closure! This series changed me and I have no regrets ! Neither will you when you read it!
Also Wyatt forever !!!! Sorry I have a favourite 😂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a fabulous conclusion to this trilogy. I absolutely love Max's relationship with all the guys, the guys are delicious in their own way. I'm so glad we got our HEA ❤️
absolutely loved this series! I had to pick up the next book right until I had no more to pick up!!!!! sexy, action filled, kept me on the edge of my seat!
A great finale to round out the series! Snakes and Daggers is a fun, fast-paced trilogy that you’ll fly through—especially if you’re in the mood for a solid reverse harem/why choose romance with a motorcycle club and military forces backdrop.
I’m walking away from this series really satisfied with an ending that tied everything up beautifully. Needless to say, I’m going to miss the boys… but won’t we all?
