My synopsis: Starting in Lancashire 1832, Hannibal Becker had finally finished building his family’s new home called the ‘Moorside House’. “Little did Hannibal know; that this tale would span three centuries: through three families; and carry three secrets; in one house.”

Fast forward to 2025, Seth Overaugh, his wife Natalia and their two children Izzy and Jonah now live in Moorside House. One night, a burglar breaks into the house and attacks Izzy. Seth beats the burglar to a pulp with a black basalt statue, and his wife Natalia helps cover it up.
After that specific night, all the family members have the same dream involving a child called Lottie, but how does it all connect?

“But the real weight- the burden of guilt, secrecy, and fear - remained firmly upon their shoulders, an unseen shadow trailing closely behind, invisible but always present.”

My review: I found this book really easy to follow, well paced and a quick read. It started off really strong and intriguing so I got immediately sucked in. I would say it’s more of a crime than a thriller as it has quite a bit of police procedure and interviewing chapters. I was staying up late most nights to read it as I was really absorbed in the story. As soon as it was revealed Brendan was missing I thought I knew what was happening, how wrong I was! I usually don’t like a cliff hanger ending, however in this book I liked it as it entices you to read the next one, and as there are so many unanswered questions you almost have to read the next one.
The reason I’ve given it a 3⭐️ was that I wished it leaned into being more visually atmospheric and creepy, and due to the dreams they all had it felt slightly repetitive at times. I also would have liked to know the contents of the box they found as technically only one thing was revealed in the entire book to the reader. I think as a reader we would have benefitted from being told more of the back story of the main characters so I could understand the family dynamic more and root for them. Overall I will read the next one to find out all my unanswered questions!👻

#gifted but my honest review.

This was gifted to me and I absolutely ate it up, I read it within 24 hours!! I was well prepared for the horror aspect however I was surprised that it was mostly police procedural. I thought I guessed what was going on, but I was wrong! I now NEED to know what's going on! Although the paperback was gifted to me, I purchased the audible version also as I love to immersive read my books. The audio narrator was excellent, and I really like his style. I also like that this book was less than 300 pages as it makes the series feel less daunting, I can't wait for the next book!!!. I will be recommending this book to those I know will love it ... I have one main question.... "what's in that box?!?!?"

This book has murder, mystery, intrigue and paranormal spookiness! I was kindly sent this book by the author, but my review is not influenced by this in any way.
This book starts with a massive event within like, 20 pages, to the point I was like OKAY LETS GO. It’s full of action, twists, and turns and keeps the reader guessing until the end.
Now it does end on a cliff-hanger like ending, however book 2 is due to be published soon and I cannot wait!
This was a good, easy to follow read and is perfect for spooky season!

This book was sent to me by the author, but no obligation to share my thoughts. I had to review because I love this book!
I didn't expect dramatic events to happen literally 10 pages in!
This story is constant and fast, I loved it. There isn't as much shock factor, but the eeriness and unsettling feeling you get when reading is impeccable. The twists were unexpected.
This does leave some unanswered questions, and a cliffhanger to lead onto the next book in this series. which i can't wait to read

When you have something gruesome happen in the first few chapters, you know you are on to a good book 🤪😂. It’s completely full of twist and turns and leaves you guessing until the very end (that ending! Next book please 😝😂🫶🏻)

The Overaugh family go from a cosy night in, to something happening that changes their lives forever .. the question is what secrets does their house hide …

If you are in the mood for a gothic psychological thriller - this is the book for you! 🪏

Gripping and beautifully written
Really enjoyed this. The Silence We Hide is a strong start to the Overaugh trilogy, atmospheric, well-paced, with thrilling tension. The writing is sharp, the characters are layered, and the story keeps you hooked without overdoing it. If you like a thriller novel with a psychological edge and a bit of gothic flair, this one’s worth your time.
