Life for Rainah is fine until she's ten years old and everything changes. Rainah loses her father, and she almost loses her mother. Even though her mother is still alive, she's not the mother that Rainah knows and loves, and her grandmother Ida Mae takes her in to raise. That tragic night leaves Rainah with life altering trauma, and it changes the way she looks at certain things. As an adult Rainah's desire is to become a lawyer, and one thing she's never wanted to be was a hustler's girl. Rainah loathes drug dealers and vows to never date one.
Jeovanni Bendetti, and his twin brother were raised by their grandmother and never knew either one of their parents. Of course, Jeovanni and his brother had questions but they never got any answers. Until one day, their mother knocks on the door and literally walks back into her son's lives. Skeletons begin to fall out of the closet, propositions are made, and Jeovanni has choices to make.
This novella was really good, I have a feeling when I read the standalone that my assumptions about the mother is going to be true. These book dealt with some hard truths that neither Rain or Jeovanni were willing to face. I feel Rain knew what he did but turned a blind eye to it. I believe Jeovanni is blinded by money that he can’t see a set up when it is the form of his mother.
As I started reading this book, I realized that I had read about Jeovanni and Javonini before, but I didn’t remember reading this novella. It was well written, flowed well and gave me an insight into how they ended up with their grandmother. I recommend reading this book before reading Our Mother’s Son.
You’ve been warned‼️Don’t allow the one on one intro of Rainah & Jeovanni hoodwink you to surmise this novella was “Love & Basketball” 2.0. Nope 🙂↔️, quite the contrary. Nevertheless, “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” was excellent read‼️More so, it was the type of book, characters & adventure you want, underestimate the storyline yet delighted you indulged by the book’s ending 🍿📚🧐🤓🤯‼️
I read the book backwards, but still glad I read it!!!…This was a cute short read and although my heart ached for Raina’s, I’m glad to have some background on her and the twins!!!…Neither grandma was to be played with either!!!…
