If I can just hold on a little longer, if I can just survive my secret, maybe I can salvage my future, too. I don't deserve a second chance, but if I've got one, there's no way I'm wasting it on a player like Pete Ferro.
Genre: New Adult Romance This story unfolds over multiple volumes
H.M. Ward continues to reign as a NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author who surpassed more than 23 million books sold, placing her among the literary titans. Ward has been featured in articles in the NEW YORK TIMES, FORBES, and USA TODAY to name a few.
I think I mentioned this when I was reading The Arrangement. These “books” don’t end in cliffhangers per se, but it’s like the end of a chapter. You’re expecting another chapter, but it’s the end of that installment.
I liked this novella simply for the fact that we get to see the start of Peter’s love of swing dancing. In his books, he and Sidney bond while dancing together and it’s beautiful. He mentions that Gina is the one who taught him and now we get to read about that.
“Do you know how to swing dance?”
He moves closer to me, towering over me and placing one hand in mine, the other on my waist. He looks straight into my eyes and says, “No, but I can be an excellent student. Teach me.”
So this was a little more interesting than the first two novellas. I want more of Pete and Gina’s background. The other stuff is boring.
Outstanding writing. Funny, sexy and drool worthy scenes continue to take you through Gina's journal. Gina's friend, Erin, makes an appearance and let me tell you it's EPIC! Anthony is still dangling around but the story opens up, the questions are building, Gina seems to be finding her strength. Is it Pete? Does he do this to her? Holly Ward...two thumbs up!
Silly Silly Gina she thinks Peter only cares for himself but he cares for her but she doesn't see just yet. Gina needs to grow some balls herself and stand up to that boyfriend of hers if you want to call him a boyfriend he's a worthless user. Gina did stand up to her dad alittle time will tell if the real gina comes out. I hope it's soon ☺☺
Another awesome installment! I love Pete Ferro... This series is LBD is slowly building up to show us fans why we love him so much! I can't wait for Gina to kick Anthony to the curb, what a buttwipe lol.. H.M. Ward just rocks...
As much as Gina is so dumb I feel so very sorry for her. Her life is not easy. Yes she is a little rich girl but money comes with more problems than it does happiness. I'm sorry but Anthony is a horrible person. I have not liked him from the first moment I met him and at this point he still has NO redeeming qualities. Yes I'm biased to Peter but really as you keep reading he is just an a**hat. And her Father...of course I'm a woman and the bra burners made my life worse not better, I'm a believer in the stay at home mom business, but I'm the bread winner in my family and I know that some women would prefer to be in the business instead of at home and that is great for them, but Gina is trying and her horrible father is an idiot. The sad part is as we read these books, watching Gina's life unfolding just makes me sad knowing what her future holds. Peter has been in every book in little snippets. I'm hoping we are getting to the good stuff soon because although I'm reading these, I'm still not captured.
It bothers me that this author writes serialized stories. I go to turn the page and suddenly the book has ended. I also thought it was odd that this author named a politician Gambino when the first thing that comes to mind is the powerful mob boss. When overly describing Mrs. Ferry’s outfit..to up the word count the author gives such details that by the end of the description she’s just described some coppos gooma. As an Italian I’m somewhat offended. Although I’m a Italian American from ( good grief) NJ we don’t all dress like the real Housewives of NJ and/or Jerseylicious. The stereotyping is insulting. Not all Italians have gaudy taste and not all wasps are stylish.
We live in the mind of our poor girl Gina, she is confused between her sin, desire , lost of love and sex , and Pete trying to be closer to her in every occasion in fact the both are ideal lovers
Gina is just mystifying to me. She’s hot and cold. She’s mature yet immature. She’s a doormat for her boyfriend and father. She’s just not very likable in this book.
***I received this ARC for an honest review*** How can you not get addicted to this series! We all know Dr. Peter Granz from the Damaged books, but seeing how Pete Ferro was....HOT!! Bad boy filled with emotions and words of poetry that melt you right where you stand.
Gina and Pete are playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Gina can't seem to beat the pull that she has when it comes to Pete. Every time she is in his presence, she forgets who she is. But is who she think she really is, the person she wants to be. She is finally stepping outside the box of her sheltered world of being the perfect princess her parents present to the world. She isn't sure if what she wants to be that girl any longer. Getting a second chance at life after the fire has stirred something in her.
Pete can't stay away from Gina either. He tells her it is to help keep her away from dangerous men this time, but once they hit the dance floor, all thoughts get swept away. Watching their movements on the dance floor is like watching a sex scene. Their lust towards each other is scalding. Things get interrupted once again, leaving Gina confused and frustrated.
The Granz hold a party at their house, and Gina is required to play the perfect hostess and basically be just arm candy to her boyfriend Anthony. After being dismissed by Anthony, she storms away before making a fool of herself. While sitting alone outside, the man who occupies her thoughts shows up. Pete starts with his enticing words and Gina finds herself being more drawn into him. She is confused and feels like Pete is just playing with her. With everything that just happened with Anthony, she puts her game face on and tells him to leave her alone.
Need more?? So do I!! I can not wait until the next book in the series comes out. What will Pete say? What will he do? Will he finally scoop Gina up and pull her away from the life she is accustomed to? Oh Holly, why do you torture us?! Well done! This is a series not to be missed.

Life Before Damaged Volume 3 ***A Ferro Family Serial by H.M.Ward*** Prequel to Damaged 1&2 by H.M.Ward
(((ARC Review)))
Spoiler Free!
Thanks to Holly Ward for the chance to read the ARC for Life before Damaged volume 3!
This was a sensual tango of an installment!
We get to see more and more of Gina's life as a whole and we continue to learn how much she loaves being the "princess" in her parents lives. She just wants to live her own life and make her own choices, no matter the consequences. "Despite my mistakes, I'm finally discovering who I am and who I long to be, and that woman is within reach. She's strong and smart--ready to live her life." She finds herself enjoying things she always knew deep down inside she would but never allowed herself to. She has been learning to swingdance at Ricky's club and loves every minute of it! And of course there's the underlying sexual tension between her and Peter. As much as she wants to deny her growing feelings for Peter, she can't. "I can't deny it, there's a magnetic pull toward him and I can't understand why. Pete's not my type. At all."
There is still that "Ferro mystery" in the background...why is Peter so intrigued with Gina? What is his reasoning for persuing her...is it actual attraction or is there more to it?
4 Mystery Ferro Stars!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am completely obsessed with H.M. Ward's books, and I jump at the chance to read anything she writes. When I received an ARC of the latest installment of her Life Before Damaged serial, I was super excited and dropped everything to read it right away!
Volume 3 picks up right where Volume 2 left off, and since Volume 2 ended on such a high note, Volume 3 had me predictably hooked right from the start. Where my biggest complaint about Volume 2 was a severe lack of Peter, Volume 3 more than made up for it! The interactions between Peter and Gina are getting more intense and way more interesting. They're really fun to read!
There are still a couple characters that I can't stand and really want to slap (Gina included at times), but I have a feeling they'll be getting what's coming to them soon!
One thing that I love about Holly's writing is that there are often subtle things that become more important later on, and I've found a couple things I'm going to be keeping my eye on.
I sometimes have a hard time reading certain scenes because I know things from having read Damaged, but overall, I'm enjoying the journey.
As usual, my biggest complaint is that it ended too soon! This installment was everything I love about Holly's writing (and Peter!), and I can't wait to read more!
One thing I learned for sure from this novella is that I need to learn to dance and my husband should come with me. Gina and Pete share a sexually charged moment on the dance floor together. I mean it ends kinda badly but, for a few minutes it is just them. In their own world with no worries at all. I really and starting to like Gina. We are witnessing her changing. For the better in my opinion. She is developing self worth and that is awesome! She is realizing that she deserves to be happy and recognized for her work. I think Pete is helping her realize some of that too. Will she ever come out of her shell and be herself?
Not a lot of romantic time between Gina and Pete in this one. They have more conversation between each other then anything. Minus their steamy dance. I am really disappointed in Gina's Dad and boyfriend. They treat her like an object and not a person. Just some pretty arm candy to show off. I have a feeling she is going to blow up pretty soon.
This series is moving a little slower but, I feel like it needs to to fully understand Gina's story. It is important in learning why Peter is the way he is. This one is going to have some serious explosions pretty soon and I can't wait!
I want to start off by thanking H.M. Ward for being so generous in giving me an ARC for my honest review. I really enjoy getting to know Peter through Gina's journals, it also tells us what kind of person Gina was. I'm sure this is very hard for Sidney but it's probably just as hard for Pete to let her read them. Pete doesn't know if they will change her mind about her love for him, I think Pete is taking a big risk. We find out how Pete gets into swing dancing. Gina doesn't want to be one the girls that Pete gets what he wants from her and then doesn't want anything else to do with her, but her body and had aren't on the same page. To those people that don't like how short these books are, then wait to read it all at once, don't give H.M. 2 and 3 star reviews for it. We know that they are going to be short, that way we don't have to wait as long. Thank you so much for the life of Pete Ferro.

I admit, I wasn't a fan of LBD2. I knew I would be reading critically for LBD3 because of it. This was a better book for me. We're starting to see more substance to Gina. LBD3 showed more strength from her. Sure, she has internal struggles because of the fire and her torn desires between Anthony and Peter, but that makes her more real. She's showing more of the strong woman role we've come to expect and love in HM Ward's books. Frankly, the strong female characters is one of the things that draw me to Ward's books. These women aren't without flaws, but they are intrinsically strong people. We see more of Peter in this book and there are hints to struggles he's having regarding Gina as well. We'll have to keep reading to find out more. I'm still hoping to see more heat and intensity between Gina and Peter. I think anyone who's' read Damaged is ANXIOUSLY waiting for that connection to build. We know it's coming, we just don't know when.
Gina the famous leading woman is still trying to sort out her life she has decided not to come forth with the truth to her mother and father about the fire because she got a second chance at life and wants to live it differently but that comes at a price in losing the morals she stands for.
Peter Ferro is one man that gives a woman whiplash and Gina is his target he feels the sexual chemistry and mind blowing tension between them and can’t help but get Gina riled up using her feelings for him against her but his ultimate flaw is pushing her away when she least expects it and making her feel rejected.
After reading this novel I’m dying to check out a Swing Dance Club sounds like sooooo much fun even though I certainly don’t know how to dance worth a damn.
Where do I start? I love the story, but I am having some issue. There is just not enough Peter in it for me, The times he's there are amazing & I'm on the edge of my seat but then he is gone for 3 chapters. I love Gina, I really do. I can't wait to see how she grows in all of this. I can't wait to see her let herself go when it comes to Peter. I love how we get to see a little bit of fire cracker in her in volume 3. I SOOOO love bad boy Peter. I can't stress that enough. Lol!! He is just delicious as a bad boy. I am loving the story & the angle I can see it taking, or knowing Holly, the exact opposite of where we think it's going. I look forward to the rest of the series & the exciting, "you have got to be kidding me" cliffhangers. A very enjoyable read that leaves me panting for volume 4!!!!
Wow, I so enjoyed this book! Every girl NEEDS a friend like Erin. She’s funny, loyal, and tells you how it is. Gina is having a hard time taking control of her life. She is guilt ridden by the warehouse fire and haunted by the mysterious Pete Ferro. He’s hot, oh so hot, then he’s colder than cold. Regina is drawn to Pete but every time they have a bonding moment he flips a switch and turns cold on her. The more I hear about Anthony, Gina’s boyfriend the more I do not like him. It is so obvious he is using Gina but for some reason she just cannot see it.
This is another excellent installment to the Ferro series, I highly recommend Life Before Damaged. It has just the right amount of sexy.
I received a copy of this book from the author for a honest review.
Wait... that was the ending? That is all the story we get for this Volume?? Really??? There is no way I would recommend this book to someone and expect them to pay $2.99. There just wasn't enough! I realize as a reviewer for Ms. Ward we are not to complain about the length of the book. And it's not the length I have an issue with, it's the little substance we receive. I can't give a honest review for this one without mentioning the little amount of story we get.
The story itself was enjoyable but for the little we get, Pete just isn't in this series enough.
Despite reading all but a handful of Ms. Ward's books, this is the last for me. I feel like we are all getting jerked around.
OMG!! This was an "absofreakinlutely" amazing book full of twists and turns. I didnt see a lot of things coming in this book :-). Between the meeting with Gina's father,Ricky's bar, and the party that Gina's parents threw, poor Gina cant catch a break.Pete Ferro just seems to pop up everywhere on her. Gina is so emotional she goes from "I want to squee and throw glitter in the air" to " Dont talk to me, Dont come near me, Stay the hell away". I love how this book kept me on the edge of my seat. At the end I was like You go Gina you tell that Ferro how it is! This book leaves you wanting more and more I cant get enough of young Peter Ferro. I cant wait for the next book im sure it will be just as awsomesauce as this one :-D !!
Absolutely love this series, Life before Damaged. I love the character Holly created (Gina), her personality, demeanor, grace and finesse is something I wish I had in my twenties.
I love the way Holly writes, full on depth and perplexity, not only her characters but the story as well. The story sucks you up in a way that is difficult to describe, but it leaves you just wanting more, so much more that you cannot wait until the next one is release. So on this magnificent journey of Peter's life before Sydney, we are just starting to understand the man he was before, the changes he is undergoing to be the person he wants to be, for this woman.
Holly, please don't stop writing, don't know what I would do without you or your stories to read. Thanks for another well done story!
Arc copy for honest review. Well what can I say Peter just gets hotter and hotter, few not so curse words muttered but come on we know they get together just do it already, though Gina should take Erin's advice and bang him til his warranty runs out, lots of snort laugh moments. Holly has outdone herself again and she is an amazing writer, people may complain about them being short but you know what they fit nicely into my busy life and I can escape from everything in the few hours I am reading these books and I can forget all my worries of the day. Keep up the good work and can't wait to read the 4th book #teamjustflickAnthony
Why why why why why???? It's the only question I keep asking myself when I read Hollys books since I'm more than aware of how addictive they are and how obsessed I will become until all are gone and I'm left like a junkie waiting on his next fix! There's no difference with this! Pete is oh so yummy and I love Ginas strangeness :D. It's bitter sweet knowing her fate before I even started reading though. I wanted to read this as a fix In between 'the arrangement' and now I am nearly finished and will be in the same state waiting on the next book of Peters ahhhhhhhh. I don't know if I love or hate this author, usually it's both!
Serious Ferro foreplay... Things are really starting to heat up in this latest installment of LBD3. Through all the smoke, fire and bullshit, Gina is really discovering her true self. I love her quirky sense of humor. It makes her more real and identifiable. And Pete.. Swoon!! Is there anything the man cannot do? At this point, the sexual tension between Pete and Gina is so thick your going to need a chainsaw to cut it!! Well done Ms. Ward. You know exactly how to leave us begging for more. Cannot wait for the next book!!
I will never get enough Peter and this book is full of him!!!! He has been and always will be my favorite Ferro! In this book you get a lot of back and forth with Peter and Gina! Peter is slowing chipping away at fake Gina so that she can see that there is more to life than being fake all of the time. I am hoping that in a book soon it will be Gina telling Anthony to go take a hike and making sure to rip him a new one in the process – I really do not like him!!!! H. M. Ward keep Peter coming!!!!
I loved and enjoyed reading the ARC I received from the phenomenal, awesome writer H.M. Ward. As Gina tries to please her dad and have him see what a wonderful addition she is to the company and asks again for Anthony to support her, she is off by herself trying not to blow up and ruin her dad's party and is imagining a conversation aloud regarding the small, inadequate size of Anthony's penis when Peter shows up. Read the highly recommended, captivating and engaging story of Peter Ferro before Damaged!
