"Move over, Kirk and Spock—Quintos and Pristy are my new favorite space heroes!"

—Melissa Patterson, ARC reader

Captain Galvin Quintos commands humanity's most advanced battle group in a desperate mission to the galaxy's edge, where the Techno-Mycoids have returned with unprecedented force. This fungal-mechanical species, previously encountered in smaller numbers, now fields massive fleets systematically consuming the peaceful Zephyrian civilization. With thirty-six billion souls already assimilated into their grotesque bio-mechanical war machine, time is running out for both the Zephyrians and potentially all organic life in the galaxy.
Armed with cutting-edge omninought-class warships and thousands of DreadBots equipped with experimental sesquiterpene weapons, the fleet faces impossible mathematical odds. The enemy's hive-mind intelligence seems to anticipate every tactical move, suggesting they possess foreknowledge that shouldn't be possible.
Captain Gail Pristy commands the battle group's oldest and most vulnerable vessel while navigating her complicated romantic history with Quintos. Their personal relationship becomes secondary to survival when a catastrophic malfunction in the ship's recreational systems unleashes a deadly pathogen that transforms artificial beings into ravenous killing machines.
Sonya Winters, Quintos's brilliant eighteen-year-old niece and MIT student, finds herself at the center of the crisis. Her deep understanding of the ship's biological systems—and her complicated friendship with the Pleidian officer responsible for the outbreak—forces her to make devastating choices that could either doom or save humanity.
As infected creatures spread chaos throughout the fleet, temporal anomalies caused by the enigmatic time-traveler General Resnick create critical blind spots in the enemy's perfect coordination. In a final confrontation spanning multiple realities, an accidental biological weapon becomes humanity's unexpected salvation against seemingly invincible foes, proving that sometimes victory emerges from the most catastrophic failures.

Mark Wayne McGinnis has a visionary talent for world-building, creating a galactic empire that feels vast and authentic. The space fleet battles are spectacular, and the alien invasion threat provides constant momentum. What impressed me most was the metaphysical undercurrent running through the narrative—it adds layers to what could have been just another action story. Fire your copy editor!!

Great story if it wasn't so hard to read it. Repeated sentences, repeated paragraphs. Chapters 24 and 25 are reversed, but you don't know that until you get to 25 and the story backs up to before 24 and everything starts to make sense again. I have read the entire series, every E-book has editing issues, but this is BAD!

This is the first book in the series that I’ve given three stars. I’m accustomed to Mark’s unique style, but this book felt lackluster for a space opera. The battles were underwhelming, and the plot lacked proper development.

The inclusion of zombies was a strange choice from the beginning. It felt forced and unnecessary.

The book ended on a weak cliffhanger, leaving me unsatisfied.

Keeps me on the Edge of my seat!

McGinnis has done it again! This story has kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and left me impatiently waiting for the next one. (What’s the rest of Sonja’s story? Will Hardy get completely repaired? And SO MANY more questions!)

Quite the ride

The galaxy is in peril and it’s Gavin and Pristy to the rescue. Sort of…. A zombie war simulation on the R&R deck complicates matters as a runaway virus infects the crew. Zombies, yep, you heard that right …,it’s the normal madness but it always seems to work.

I had to wait months for this last book in the series, and it was worth every waking second. Thank you Mark McGinnis, this was a SUPERB story!

Enjoy

Reading as I do, being away from a series for awhile makes getting back it difficult with some authors. Yours seemed to be easier. Restoring the familiarity with the characters was quick. Thanks for your writing.

You've got to love a good ending.

Even though the Hamilton series is not over, I hope. Mark has a way of keeping this motley crew together for continuing entertainment.

Another Well Told Story

Just when you think there aren't any more threats to humanity, another life or death threat is successfully conquered.

What's next?

a good read

Well written and different enough so it took a while to figure it out. I thought I would be reading the last of the series. This is but a stop along the way.

Waste of time.

Half of these books spent on games on the holodeck and romance problems. I've lost interest. Let me know when books start focusing o the big picture issues.
