I should know better than to think I can protect her. I'm a dark, dangerous disaster who leaves only destruction behind me.
But when I saw her taking care of those abandoned newborn babies, something stirred in me… something ancient…
This is why knights of old battled for the favors of a fine woman. She is the kind of woman for whom a man will go to war.

Except I'm the one who put her in danger, who put her at risk.

Damn her! She's making me reckless, messing up my mind with stupid sentiments I thought I had put behind me long ago.
If I'm not careful, letting my feelings for her get the better of me, will get me killed.

I fought as hard as I could when he kidnapped me. Feeling the way I do, when I see the powerful curve of his back, when he touches me, is all kinds of wrong.
But then why is he trying to save me from my brother's enemies? Why is he on the run with me?
And why, oh why, do I even care about this broken warrior's nightmares...

Elle Darcy's Inferno is a perfectly balanced cocktail of high-stakes suspense and scorching romance, delivering on every single promise of its tantalizing premise. The classic "wounded warrior/kidnap" setup gets a fresh and emotionally charged execution here. From the first chapter, the chemistry between Gage O'Rourke, the "dark, dangerous disaster" of a hero, and Sophie, the resilient woman he's tasked with taking, is electric. Darcy excels at the enemies-to-lovers dynamic, making the transition from animosity to desperate attraction feel both inevitable and thrilling. Gage's internal conflict, his hardened exterior crumbling as he's stirred by Sophie's compassion, is written with a rawness that elevates him beyond a typical alpha archetype. Similarly, Sophie is no passive captive; her strength and empathy in the face of danger make her a compelling match for him. The suspense plot is tightly woven, providing a credible and urgent backdrop that forces the intense "forced proximity" central to the romance. The action sequences are crisp, and the external threats feel genuinely perilous, making the moments of vulnerability and connection between Gage and Sophie even more impactful. Darcy masterfully uses tropes like the "kidnapping twist" and "wounded warrior hero" not as shortcuts, but as foundations to build a genuinely emotional and steamy journey toward a hard-won, satisfying happily-ever-after. Inferno is a standout in the romantic suspense genre, a fast-paced, emotionally engaging, and seriously hot read that hooks you from the first page and doesn't let go. A fantastic, sizzling standalone.

A Complex write up with wonderful characters and storyline that holds you riveted
I have to say that I have been thoroughly looking forward to this book and that I was not in are the slightest disappointed. The characters Gage O’Rourke and Sophie Delaney are simply captive read and you will not be able to put this book down until you reach the end and discover the final outcome.
Gage was only supposed to be handing over the collateral to his Boss but when he saw he was going to be turning over collateral that belongs to Sophie. It seems that the collateral to the Boss is slightly eyewatering and yet as they get to know each other Gage feels very protective for her.
Gage feels his heart warm up when he discovers that Sophie also in her spare time volunteers at the local hospital where she holds premature babies and loves on them and shares her own body heat with them and this makes his heart skip a beat and if he is honest he realises that she is a very special individual, deserving f his care, time and love and he is determined to show her these facts.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

This story of Gage and Sophie is complex and light romance. There is really one part of the book that gets slightly spicy, no darkness. There may be a chance of a trigger for violence, not by the MMC. Gage kidnaps Sophie as collateral because her brother owes people a lot of money. Sophie is Gage's last job and after watching her, he has fallen for her and vows to protect her at all costs. Gage gets word that his boss is sending his son to watch over her, the problem is his son is the worst of the worst when it comes to keeping women. He likes to torture them. Gage has to find Sophie's brother and get the money he owes in order to protect Sophie, while hoping she begins to feel the same way for him as he does for her.

Welcome to the Eagle Crest Chronicles!

Elle Darcy delivers a shrewdly written short story.

Lies. Betrayal. Love. Lust. Unaliving. Inferno has it in spades!

The plot is deceivingly simplistic, and the characters are chalked full of depth.

Elle Darcy’s Book Dedication: For those who have walked through fire and still believe in love. (I couldn’t agree more!)

A story jam-packed with drama and suspense. Sophie is kidnapped by Gage as her brother owes Gage's boss a large sum of money. A woman with depth and compassion, she finds herself falling for Gage and the feeling is mutual. With his boss's son wanting Sophie for himself, Gage is determined to protect her, no matter the cost to himself. Beautifully written, this short story will captivate you from start to finish, leaving you unable to put it down.

Gage works for some bad men, and has to kidnap Sophie as a message to her brother... But as Gage gets to know Sophie, he finds himself becoming her protector instead...

An action-filled story with a fabulous HEA makes for a fun, quick read... I loved Gage, and the actions he took to help and protect Sophie, and I love how she learned to really stand up for herself.

A fast paced, thrilling and gripping read with captivating characters. Gage and Sophie had a sizzling chemistry even though he'd kidnapped her for collateral. Steamy, suspenseful and action packed. Loved it.

I really enjoyed the fast paced & suspenseful read. Lots of twists & turns. Gage is ordered to kidnap Sophie & hold her as collateral until her brother pays his debt. Things go sideways quickly. Loved the non-stop action & HEA. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

This is a great forced proximity book. Sophie is feisty and Gage is protective, it leads to some interesting situations especially since Sophie is in constant danger. It was a great journey as they worked towards their happily ever after.
