🐻❤️🗽 Lila Rosewood knows how to survive in dry shampoo, a killer wardrobe, and a crippling dependency on her credit card.
But after her perfect boyfriend trades her in for her roommate, Lila’s life is spinning out of control. Her brilliant idea? Ditch the city and pitch a wildly impractical article to her "What Grizzly Bears Can Teach Us About Not Settling." She expects glamping and maybe a cute viral TikTok.
She gets a catastrophic case of mistaken medication, a canceled group tour, and...
Caleb Mitchell—a mountain of a man with brooding eyes, a magnificent beard, and absolutely zero patience for tourists who wear pink to the wilderness. 🗽❤️🐻
Suddenly, Lila's grand escape becomes a week of forced proximity with the one man who refuses to see her as anything more than a liability. Caleb is all practicality and protective grunts. Lila is all chaos and caffeine. As they navigate creek crossings and bear encounters, their professional distance evaporates faster than morning mist.
When the two opposites inevitably collide in a tent, the chemistry is wild and undeniable. But Caleb has a strict what happens in Alaska stays in Alaska, and Lila's flight home is rapidly approaching.
She came to the wilderness to find a story, but now Lila must decide if she’s brave enough to leave the safety of her old life behind and fight for a love that doesn’t make sense on paper—but makes perfect sense in her heart.

Hazel K Ford writes the kind of romantic comedy that makes you snort-laugh on one page and tear up on the next. Known for heroines who are masters of witty banter but prone to professional panic, Hazel specializes in finding the heart and humor in life's biggest upheavals—whether that's a messy public breakup or a sudden, inconvenient discovery of love in the Alaskan wilderness.
I was lucky enough to receive this book as an ARC reader. And OMG! The banter, the sassy, out of her depth Lila, the brooding, protective Caleb, the love story set against the backdrop of the Alaskan wilderness. It's all perfect. You'll be transported to the woods to observe grizzly bears. With the imagery and wonderful descriptions you'll feel like you're right there with them. It's beautifully written and laugh out loud funny. Reading this book was a genuinely enjoyable experience, and did what all good books do - transport you to another place, with characters you'd want as friends. Relatable characters, fantastic dialogue and picturesque settings, this book is incredible. My favourite book of the year, no contest. I really can't sing it's praises enough. Read it, enjoy it, love it - as much as Caleb loves his bears and Lila loves pink.
Disclaimer: I got this book as an ARC in return for an honest review before publication.
This isn't my normal style of fantasy/romantacy book as I don't read a lot of modern day books but I read this in one sitting!
Lila was a typical city girl. She loved coffee, brunches, fashion, and having the world at her fingertips. Caleb was a bear tours guide in Alaska, the furthest you could get from Lila's life. When Lila catches her boyfriend cheating she loses the plot, pitches a piece to her editor, and ends up in the wilderness. From there it's a whirlwind week of reaching for what you want, liberation, and overcoming the worst.
I loved this book and it's a real cosy romance entwined with a beautiful story of the wilds. The perfect book to curl up to.
If you’ve ever stared at your life, your ex, or your credit card bill and thought, Maybe the wild bears of Alaska would treat me better, then Grizzly Bear Girlboss is the chaotic comfort read your soul has been begging for.
Hazel K. Ford delivers a romance that’s equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and wildly empowering. It’s about heartbreak, reinvention, and that delicious moment when the universe smacks you with the exact man you weren’t looking for—but desperately needed.
Meet Lila Rosewood. Manhattan girl. Fashion devotee. Brunch enthusiast. Dry shampoo warrior. She’s holding her life together with caffeine, couture, and denial… until her perfect boyfriend cheats on her with her roommate. Cue the spiral—the kind involving questionable decisions, ugly-crying, and an article pitch that screams, “I haven’t slept in 36 hours.”
“What Grizzly Bears Can Teach Us About Not Settling.” She thought she’d get glamping. Maybe a cute reel or two. Instead? Alaska hands her Caleb Mitchell.
Caleb is… Alaska personified. All beard, bulk, survival skills, and zero tolerance for Lila’s city-slicker pink outfits. He’s a grizzly tour guide who believes in two things: practicality and not babysitting tourists who scream at squirrels. Lila is chaos in a cashmere sweater. Caleb is the steady hand she didn’t know she needed. And watching these two collide is honestly half the joy of reading.
Their forced proximity? Electric. Their banter? Legendary. Their chemistry? Like watching a spark land in a forest—slow burn until suddenly it’s everywhere.
As they trek through rivers, dodge bears, and battle the elements, Lila starts shedding the parts of herself that weren’t hers to begin with—the expectations, the heartbreak, the need to always be the “perfect” woman. Caleb sees her mess and doesn’t flinch. Lila sees his silence and reads the truth beneath it. Together, they crack each other open in the most unexpectedly tender ways.
Hazel K. Ford’s writing is laugh-out-loud funny, rich in imagery, and grounded in emotional growth. The Alaskan wilderness isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a character. You’ll feel the crisp air, see the sweeping vistas, and hear every crunch of pine needles underfoot. It’s immersive. It’s cinematic. It’s everything you want in an escape.
But the real magic? Lila doesn’t just fall in love—she rises. Into confidence. Into clarity. Into the kind of woman who deserves someone who chooses her every damn day.
Grizzly Bear Girlboss is for readers who love: ✨ Fish-out-of-water heroines with heart and humor ✨ Brooding, beardy wilderness men who protect first, love hard, and grunt often ✨ Slow-burn tension with explosive payoff ✨ Stories about reinvention and self-worth ✨ Lush descriptions that transport you straight into the wild
This book is a joy. A hug. A wilderness adventure. A rom-com that feels both wildly fun and emotionally meaningful.

This is one of the best books I have read this year... It is a complete read as it takes you through adventure, chick lit, romcom, comedym, and a bit of self help. Just great writing that will make you laugh, smile, swoon, gasp, and even take a look at yourself a little bit deeper.
This book starts on a sad note, Lila finds her boyfriend cheating on her. The self proclaim city girl, feisty, independent, fashion forward who in reality is just holding onto to life by a thread. The betrayal guts her and you will see her breakdown and the tears bring on a crazy idea for a project, "What Can Bears Teach Us About Not Settling"
#Alaskabound we go, her idea of glamping, cute outdoor adventures, goes out the door the moment she sees the location and meets Caleb. HE is the outdoor personified, her total opposite in all the ways. He is not happy to have a city girl in his environment, especially her. Be ready for the greatest banter, the charged sidenotes, the slow burn, the building attraction, and the insights -oh the insights-.
As the adventure starts, be ready to see the land claim pieces of her, and for Caleb to be there as a silent partner. With every mile, she will shed a bit of the city and show her fears, her anxieties, while he starts to see her in a different light. Until there is nothing more than just truth and passion. Then it is time to rebuild, and she will empower herself and he will support her.
BE ready to highlight entire pages of this book, to reread phrases, to book mark chapters. IT is just that good of a book !.
