He was supposed to be her end. Instead, he became her beginning.
Elle doesn’t remember the life that was stolen from her. Her memories flicker, her control fading with them. But in the haze, there’s one man she keeps seeing.
Sterling, a masked mercenary with eyes as morally gray as him. He’s deadly enough to destroy anything that threatens her, even himself. Because now she’s his obsession, a reminder of what’s still human in him and what he could lose forever.
When the past resurfaces, they’re pulled into a web of power, betrayal, and a tangled love triangle. They have to choose what matters most between the truth they uncover and the love that consumes them.
Kill for a Kiss is a slow-burn dark romance with psychological suspense, found family, and a possessive anti-hero who would burn the world to be with her.
Bonus in Kindle Unlimited, eBook and paperback on Amazon! Includes illustrations of the wickedly captivating pair in moments too intimate to forget.
Cate Roi writes dark romance with a body count and a sense of humor. Born Chinese-Filipino and raised between the U.S. and Canada, she grew up learning the power of diversity (and dramatic family dinners). Outside of writing, she keeps a low profile and leads a quiet life in research, but the details of that are strictly classified. These days, she conjures up morally messy love stories while enjoying the company of her partner-in-crime and their furbabies, who unlike her characters, are pure and innocent. Probably.

This slow-burning dark romance is beautifully written creating a captivating world that takes you away and keeps you compelled to keep reading. With psychological suspense full of mystery, unexpected turns, and sizzling passionate heat, I couldn't put this book down. I really enjoyed the K-drama/teleseyre/manhwa inspiration. The tangled intricate web that was woven had me on the edge of my seat, excited and full of anticipation.
Main characters Elle and Sterling are incredibly interesting, their emotional complexities and motivations made them come alive in my mind's eye. Elle's inspiring resilience made me feel both empathetic and sympathetic for her. Author Cate Roi also excels in creating hazy confusion making the "brainwashed" state of mind Elle is experiencing shine through. Sterling is our possessive/obsessed anti-hero. His determination to protect Elle made my heart ache and soar. Their relationship is full of heat that will consume them if they allow it.
When Stan came into the picture it created such drama and chaos. He is a character that was initially easy to dislike only for him to grow on me later in the story and now I wish him his own HEA.

This dark romance was truly unique and will forever remain a favorite. The emotional ride was worth every page.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series Stan's story.
Thank you Cate Roi and BookSirens the opportunity to read the ARC.
Elle lost her family, but that tragic event wasn't the end of her suffering; it was only the beginning. Since then, she's lived imprisoned in a gilded cage, trapped in a world she doesn't recognize, with no memory of who she truly was due to the manipulations she's endured.
For his part, Sterling carries the weight of a past mistake, a mistake that took so much from both him and Elle. Guilt consumes him, and his pain drove him to isolate himself, fleeing from everything and everyone, while plotting revenge against the one who pushed him to commit unforgivable acts.
However, fate crosses their paths again. This time, Sterling is determined to save Elle, to give her back her freedom and help her recover her memory, even if it means she will come to hate him, since he was involved in past events that Elle doesn't remember. But nothing will be simple; dangers lurk, shadows from the past return, and enemies will do everything possible to destroy them.
Together they must face their fears, the secrets that resurface, and the threats that could destroy everything. Yet, amidst the chaos, Sterling becomes Elle's unwavering support, willing to set the entire world on fire if it means protecting her.
I loved the ending; they both manage to find peace and happiness, and overcome the cause of all their suffering. I deeply loved the development of each character. Sterling, with his strength and determination, made me fall in love; and Elle, with her resilience, inspired me. Their evolution made me feel every emotion, from pain to hope.
I must also mention Stan. His story hurt me, everything he suffered broke my heart, and I sincerely hope he gets his own happy ending because he deserves it.
In short, this book was a true emotional roller coaster. I cried, smiled, and fell in love with every page. Thank you to the author for allowing me to read the ARC. ❤️❤️❤️.

When a mercenary falls for the woman he was meant to kill, obsession takes over. 🖤
📖 Kill for a Kiss by Cate Roi ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Genre: Dark Romance
Sterling was supposed to kill her. He’s a mercenary, and no witnesses should be left alive. Elle lost her memory - she can’t remember where she came from or who she is. When they “reunited” at his brother’s wedding, he became obsessed with her. When their past resurfaces, they have to choose whether to let it destroy their future or fight for it.
This book is dark. It was a wild ride for me, and I did get stuck a few times because the pacing felt uneven - it honestly felt like my memory had been tampered with too. The writing was okay, but I felt a bit disconnected since some actions and words were heavily implied or vague. It didn’t flow smoothly for me, so maybe I was just a bit too slow to catch all the clues.
Elle is strong and still a fighter, even after everything she’s been through. And I love Sterling. I could go on and on about that broody masked man. I felt his obsession and love through the pages - his patience, his constant presence - and I really admired that. Some parts were told rather than shown, so I did feel a little forced to love him, but I still did anyway.
I’m definitely looking forward to Stan’s book next because he deserves an ending too!
Thank you BookSirens for this ARC!
Tropes: 🎭 Masked MMC 🧠 Brainwashed FMC 🏠 Forced proximity 💞 Love triangle 👥 Found family 🔥 MFM open-door spice
Sterling Song-Smith is just trying to complete his mission and be done with it. Unfortunately, that mission takes him to his estranged family’s estate, right in the middle of his brother’s wedding reception.
Elle, meanwhile, is lost. She’s uncertain of her past, her present, and everything in between. When she hears a strange noise during her friend’s reception, curiosity gets the better of her. What she stumbles upon is a masked man committing murder. After a chase through the garden and a dangerously charged encounter, Sterling catches her and becomes instantly obsessed.
He knows he should finish his mission, but he can’t bring himself to hurt her. Elle escapes, but Sterling can’t stay away. When he discovers she’s staying with Clo, and unearths information about her that shakes him to his core, everything spirals out of control.
This story was so unique. The drugging and memory loss element kept me completely hooked and constantly on edge, waiting for Elle to be saved. When Sterling learned about Clo’s plans, I honestly struggled to root for Elle and Stan. I get that Stan was going through it too and he was charming in his own way, but his early actions really put me off. It made the later MFM scenes harder to read, though I’ll admit they were still really well done.
This easily could’ve been a great RH story, but the groveling would’ve had to be next-level given what Stan allowed to happen. His humor did win me over toward the end, especially once he no longer felt like a threat to the main couple.
The family tree in this book is wild, and I’m hoping we get more stories soon, especially something from Stan’s POV. I’d love to see how he’s coping with everything he went through too.
Kill for a Kiss by Cate Roi is an intoxicating blend of passion, obsession, and danger that completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. The chemistry between the main characters is explosive — equal parts love and lethal. Cate Roi does an incredible job weaving together dark romance and suspense, making every page feel like a tightrope walk between desire and destruction.
The writing is bold, emotional, and deeply addictive. I loved how the story explored loyalty, revenge, and the blurred lines between right and wrong. Every twist caught me off guard, and I found myself reading way past midnight because I had to know how it ended.
If you’re a fan of dark, seductive romance with a touch of thriller and raw emotion, this book is absolutely unmissable. Cate Roi delivers a masterpiece that’s both beautiful and brutal — a story that stays with you long after you close the final page.
💋 Highly recommend for fans of dangerous love stories and morally gray heroes.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Stars – Dark, Addictive, and Deliciously Obsessive
Kill for a Kiss by Cate Episode is a vivid, tension-soaked ride built around one of my favorite tropes—the dangerously obsessive MMC who would quite literally burn the world for her. Roi spins a web of masked men, found family, and forced proximity that keeps the pages turning. The love triangle and MFM open-door scenes add layers of emotional chaos and heat that fans of dark romance will absolutely devour.
The prose is rich and cinematic, and the story’s emotional intensity pulls you in from the start. If you love protective anti-heroes, morally gray decisions, and that “I’ll destroy everything for you” energy, this one delivers.
That said, the pacing does slow down in a few places, especially mid-story—but the payoff, the character depth, and the raw chemistry make it worth sticking through.
Final Thoughts: A captivating dark romance full of heat, devotion, and danger.
I devoured this book in a day, and with kids and a full-time job, you know that means something! 4.5 stars for me!
Cate Roi brings us back to the Song-Smith family, this time focusing on Dae's brothers Sterling and Stanley. The FMC in question is Elle. Her story was quite the mystery; she didn't seem to have much of a history. She only remembers being saved by Clo Song-Smith and now being her stylist.
I loved the redemption arc for Sterling, seeing what he went through and how he was healing himself through healing Elle.
This book had it all- intrigue, romance, lots of 🔥🔥🔥, figuratively and literally!

I went into this book completely blind and was so confused the first few chapters. I didn’t realize that Elle (the FMC) had no memory so reading from her POV it was like putting a puzzle together with her. Sterling (the MMC) was a morally grey cinnamon roll and I really loved seeing their relationship develop as he helps her start remembering who she was and her history. This book had so much going on with so many twists it’s one you won’t want to put down. Also, I just need to say, Stan is now one of my favorite characters and I can’t wait to read his book.
Well this was an unexpected twisted dark mafia romance that I ended up really enjoying! I read the first book in the series Give it a Day and had no idea what I was in for with the 2nd book! These are some messed up families ! Toxic, tortured and trauma and I was here for all of it ! The spice was spicing whew Sterling, Elle & Stan yes please. Great angst, tension and crazy plot twists , so entertaining! I can’t wait until Stan’s story ! He deserves his happy ending . I received this ARC and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is gripping. A psychological dark romance that throws curves at you and twists and turns like they breathe a life of their own the story itself so well written, the description plays in your mind like your at the movies. so grab your favorite snack and drink and settle in. the characters are amazing. you see, feel, and go through the emotions I was so engrossed in this book. I can't wait to read the next installment
This is one of those books that you want to continue reading. I w as reading it during my breaks and keep getting upset every time I had to put it down. It's a slow romance with the dark, obsession , touch her and …
I can't wait to read the next one.

Kill For A Kiss was such a wild ride! The twists and turns had me shook — I definitely didn’t see them coming. This book had the perfect mix of plot, romance, and spice, and the spicy scenes were absolutely HOT 🥵🔥. Sterling and Elle went through such a journey. They also had that kind of chemistry that keeps you turning pages.
I also loved the side characters. Seeing Damon and Kaye again (from Give It A Day) plus Stan gave the story major found family vibes that made it even better. The suspense kept me glued to the pages. I’m so ready for the next book in the series!
First of all, I LOVE ELLE! She’s so kind, soft spoken, and just everything. She deserves the world, okay? I hate that she had to go thru all of it.
I love Sterling too, but I think he could’ve talked more lmaoo. Stan did all the talking here🤣
It might be a bit confusing at first, but everything falls into place later in the story. There are some things I wish were a lil different, but it’s all ok
Dark and steamy! My favorite kind of read…I received this as an advanced read and am voluntarily leaving a review. Elle and Sterling’s relationship is dark, dangerous and a the passion of 4 alarm structure fire. I was hooked by the first chapter. Adding Cate to my favorite authors list!! Such a great series so far!!
This has definitely been one of my top ARC reads for this year- the tension, the spice, the secrets. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for sure and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book! (Also, anyone else need a Sterling in their life? Please love and baby me like this sir. lol.)

The book jumps right in with you meeting Elle, the FMC, whom has trouble remembering what is even going on moment to moment. It was immediately clear that something wasn’t right, and I became invested in her struggles from page one. Truthfully, I became invested in everyone that fell victim to the evil lurking throughout the book. It’s inevitable!
Cate Roi writes dark romance and psychological suspense that pulls you in and drags you through the twists and turns right alongside her characters. There were so many different components of the story happening or to be concerned about that I found myself doubting the characters and situations even after a foundation had been laid.
This is exactly the read I needed to get into the spooky season mindset, and I’m happy to rate Kill for a Kiss five stars! ❤️🔥
This book pleasantly surprised me after reading "Give it a Day". I expected the sequel to be the same dream-like light novel that focuses on steam more than on the plot but "Kill for a Kiss" is totally different. The writing style, the plot twists, the characters' development are much more thorough and interesting, and you'll still get plenty of spice.
The beginning is a bit slow but when you get over half of the book, things will start to pick up. You'll know more about Song-Smith and Knight families, their business and all the people involved, you'll get cameos from the previous book and you'll even see some epic action.
“Would burn the world for you.” That line? Yeah—it set the tone for the entire book.
Kill for a Kiss is slow-burn perfection laced with chaos, control, and heartbreak. It’s the kind of story that crawls under your skin and stays there.
The tension between the masked MMC and our broken-but-brilliant FMC is chef’s kiss. Every glance, every touch, every secret? Electric. It’s gritty. It’s emotional. It’s filthy in all the right ways.
If you like your love stories with danger, devotion, and just the right amount of darkness, welcome home.
Elle lives a charmed life. A caring mentor, a perfect boyfriend, beautiful clothes, and a shining palace. None of it is real.
Then Sterling comes crashing into her life, determined to free her from her invisible cage.
Kill for a Kiss is a spicy, dark, psychological thriller. The story was well-written and heartbreaking at times (poor Stan), and we did get to see some repeat appearances from the prequel novella. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of romantic thrillers and mafia romance. Please do check the content warnings, though!
I have the book 3 out of 5 stars. It was too slow for my liking. I’m also not the biggest slow burn reader but I figured I’d give it a shot. It felt like it dragged at certain points.
It did have parts that I found interesting! I liked the characters! I liked how sterling would hide in the shadows with the mask.
I felt sad for what the characters had to go through. However there was one character I really didn’t care for and he also brought down the rating of the book.
Unfortunately this book genre wasn't for me. (Nothing negative to say. It's a me thing not a book thing.) I've given it a valiant effort and read to 35%. I will stick to fantasy for my future reads.
Elle doesnt remember much but there is one constant that of Stirling her protector in the shadows and man obsessed with her, but will his only bit of humanity reserved for her be their undoing? Well written engaging steamy desires drama action and more
I enjoyed the book but it did take a moment for me to get into it but I did finish it and ended up enjoying it. It just took me a moment to get into it ❣️ I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is such an interesting story. I was hooked from the very first page. This is such a combination of love obsession with a little bit of danger mixed in to make the perfect blend story.

If you’re craving a psychological, dark romance with plot twists, slow burn and an intriguing story then this will be your cup of tea. 🍵
Elle has no recollection of her past and only knows what Clo, a woman whom she trusts like a mother, tells her.🫖She’s slowly losing her grip on life unless someone can rescue her from the web of lies she’s being given.
When Sterling sees Elle at a wedding he’s instantly drawn to her and wants to claim her, but is unable to.👺Finally, he decides to do everything in his power to make her his - regardless of the consequences.
I liked the story line, although it got lost a tad lost when the spice started. The character development was good - I wasn’t the biggest fan of Stan but I did like his humor. The ending had me shocked (I wasn’t expecting it.)
This was a fun read and I would for sure recommend it. The spice hits at about 60% into the book but once it hits its back to back spice. I’m very grateful for being given the opportunity to read this book in advance!
