A charming, feel-good, sweet holiday romance stuffed full of Christmas cheer. Grab a mug of hot cocoa, curl up by the fireplace, and be swept away by a book the celebrates the merriest season!
With her granddaughter now living in Fir Tree Grove and another holiday season fast approaching, Mabel Stewart is enjoying life more than ever. Her toy shop is thriving, and her teasingly contentious relationship with George Lowery is an endless source of entertainment.
She’s always assumed that she and George are too different to truly get along—after all, she’s a spontaneous, fun-loving prankster, and he’s known for his gruff practicality.
But when George finds a stray kitten and brings it to Mabel’s shop on a cold December evening, she finds out that they have one very important thing in neither one of them can stand to see the poor little creature hungry and bedraggled.
When Mabel impulsively decides to take care of the kitten until they can find it a forever home, she recruits George to help her. Since Christmas is the busiest time of year for them both, sharing kitten duties seems like the perfect solution to ensure that the adorable bundle of fur gets all the attention it needs.
Neither of them expects caring for a stray over the holidays to soften their long-standing rivalry—but between choosing a name, dealing with the mischievous kitten’s antics, and pulling off an elaborate cat toy prank, these two polar opposites start to realize that maybe they can meet in the middle.
Maybe you don’t have to be exactly like someone to be the perfect fit for them.
And maybe, just maybe, Christmas is the best time to fall in love.
Seniors Mabel and George find that their connection as friends seems to change when they both become involved with a homeless kitten. They've been friends for a long time, but they are different personalities. Mabel is optimistic and a "free spirit", while George is gruff and practical. Her niece Vanessa and boyfriend Jackson have nurtured their romance too. It's wonderful to see the various types of love stories with people of different ages. Fiona Baker masterfully presents us with sweet romances in an idyllic small town.
A fun book with a delightful story and some great characters,

Absolutely loving this series Not only does the characters seem to come alive but the beautiful description of the holiday scenery of Fir Tree Grove that Fiona Baker gives sounds breathtaking beautiful A Christmas romance story with heartwarming events and fun with lots of hot chocolate And wait till you meet Rascal I highly recommend this story and series Five stars plus If you don't have holiday spirit yet, you will after reading Fiona Baker Fir Tree Grove Merry Christmas
Among the chocolate shop in the toy shop and the Christmas tree visits and of course the diner pulled these wonderful people together. How many times during my reading did I wish that I could be in that diner ordering a wonderful lunch or seeing what sort of toys were inside the toy store or tasting some of the chocolate - it’s the kind of little town that is storybook fare. I loved every turn.
suspecting using AI toedit some annoying grammatical errors throughout many recent Kindle bools. For example =referring tosame vehicle as truck one place and car another,Pronoun use the same - in other words inconsistencies. that with macular degeneration even I notice.
I loved the second book as much as the first book. Love and romance is all around during the Christmas Holiday and couples are getting cozy and warm. Romance is not just for the young but the young at heart. A must holiday read. Enjoy
Fiona Baker does it again. One gets lost in the scents of the season, the cacophony of sounds and the decorative environment. All blended beautifully with the richness of each character in a way that leaves you craving more!!!
Loved this book the 2nd in the series. This is about Mabel and George and Vanessa and Jackson see what happens in this story and book 3 will have all the same characters but will be about Imogen. Follow all of their journeys. Saying too much would be a spoiler.
The kitten definitely stole this story, I'll remember her for a long time! Loved how the older couple became closer thanks to the kitten! What a gifted author!
