A devious conspiracy. An ancient tradition. A new hope.
Tom and Hellen return to Vienna from a well-deserved vacation, only to find Tibetan monks waiting for them. The Dalai Lama himself needs their help.
What begins as a straightforward assignment quickly spirals into a deadly mission deep into the heart of Tibet—to a sacred shrine that holds the future of the Buddhist world in its ancient chambers.
But Tom and Hellen aren't the only ones racing against time. A shadowy conspiracy is unfolding, and the mysterious Chinese Thieves' Guild is playing a dangerous game with stakes higher than anyone imagined.
What secrets lie buried beneath the Potala Palace in Lhasa?
What is the true, sinister plan of those pulling the strings?
And can Tom and Hellen prevent a catastrophe that could reshape the spiritual landscape forever?
From Vienna to the forbidden reaches of Tibet, from sacred monasteries to hidden underground chambers, the hunt is on for one of the most powerful relics in human history.
If you're a fan of Kevin Tumlinson, J. Robert Kennedy, Alex Lukeman, Rick Jones, and André Milewski, don't miss "The Tibetan Shrine"—packed with historical mysteries, ancient artifacts, globe-spanning conspiracies, breakneck action, and a healthy dose of humor!
Grab the thirteenth Tom Wagner adventure and buckle up for a white-knuckle ride you won't be able to put down.
The Tibetan Shrine is one great big juicy cheeseburger of a Thriller with all of the extras. If you like Dan Brown, Gary McAvoy, and James Rollins, you'll love the writing team of M.C. Roberts and R. F. Mclay.
Be forewarned: the premise upon which this book is written is probably the most frightening aspect of the entire story. It may change your worldview permanently and give you nightmares. Then again, you may consider it fiction.
You will have the opportunity to travel to Tibet, Nepal, and Kathmandu. You will experience what true believing Buddhists feel in the presence of their beloved Dalai Lama. You will also undergo the torture and punishment that Chinese Government agents inflict upon anyone caught practicing Buddhism.
The Tibetan Shrine is a Political Thriller in many ways, although with mixed motivations. The characters stand out in relief, you can almost touch them. Many scenes are extremely painful to read, but are not gratuitous, they reinforce the gravity of the story.
I will be reading more of the Tom Wagner Series. If this book is representative of the Thrillers these authors write, I've got a lot of great reading ahead of me. They have earned their 5 stars. I highly recommend this book.
