Black Hearted was an absolute knockout! The character development throughout this book was phenomenal — every chapter deepened the story and the emotional connections between the characters. Nellie’s growth was so rewarding to watch; she’s strong, kind, and endlessly resilient. Zane, as always, had so much depth — a mix of strength, loyalty, and quiet vulnerability that made him impossible not to love.
One of my favourite parts was the beautiful found family bond between Nellie and Zane. Their relationship felt so genuine — more like siblings than anything else — and it added such heart to the story. That sibling-style connection really grounded both characters and highlighted just how much they meant to each other in a platonic, soul-deep way.
And then there’s Zane and his mate, Loreli — their love connection was pure magic. The chemistry, the devotion, and the way their bond unfolded made my heart absolutely melt. It added another emotional layer to an already brilliant story.
The plot was captivating from start to finish, perfectly paced with plenty of twists, emotion, and action. Leia Stone and Julie Hall have created a world that feels alive, and this book was a total chef’s kiss. Easily one of my favourites — I loved every moment!
