The Proxy

Rate this book
At a time when no crime goes unpunished and justice is served by proxy— vengeance has no bounds.

Escaped captive, Elena Davis finds herself entangled in a web of vengeance and desire. Haunted by her past and driven by a thirst for retribution, she acquires Holden, the son of her tormentor, as her slave. As she exacts her revenge, Elena’s feelings begin to shift. The lines between hatred and desire blur, and she finds herself drawn to Holden in ways she never expected.

Holden Ambrose’s world is turned upside down when he becomes a pawn in Elena’s quest for vengeance. Innocent of his father’s crimes, he’s thrust into a life of severe punishment and dehumanization as his father’s proxy. Each day is a perilous bid for survival, as Holden navigates the treacherous waters of his owners demands and the harsh realities of his new existence. With every move, he risks losing not only his sense of self, but his very life.

As Elena and Holden are pulled deeper into a labyrinth of power, pain, and unexpected passion, they must confront their darkest fears and reveal their deepest secrets. Will their twisted connection lead to redemption or shatter them beyond repair?

Thank you for finding The Proxy. This story lives in some very dark places and explores captivity, power, morality, and the complicated line between cruelty and compassion. If you decide to take a chance on Holden and Elena’s story, I hope you’ll come back and tell me what you thought. — Mara L. Grey

I was hesitant to read this b/c it only had one review on Amazon, but it was free, so I took a chance. I’m glad I did. Book was worth the read.
