Most brides wait for their groom. Bhakti Sharma kidnapped hers.
To the world, Bhakti is a supermodel with the perfect life, glamorous, adored, untouchable. But behind the smiles and flashing cameras is a woman trapped, unloved, and controlled. She’s never dared to defy her father… until now.
The first time she rebels, it’s for love.
For Prem Thakur, the boy she loved all her life. The boy who forgot her. And the man now caught in a scandal that’s forcing him to marry someone else.
Bhakti can’t let that happen. Not when he was always meant to be hers.
So she does the only thing her heart and her madness will allow.
She kidnaps the groom. He wants nothing to do with her. She wants everything from him. Will love dare to awaken, or is it too late?
Best friend's brother She kidnapped and forcefully married him Forced proximity
You all are NOT going to regret reading this book, trust me. 😭💅🏻
So basically… the girl kidnaps the groom and marries him at GUNPOINT. Like??? I’ve heard of forced marriages, but THIS? This was next-level iconic. I was literally like — “you go girl 😭👏 full support mode ACTIVATED.”
Bhakti Sharma, this rich, famous supermodel, kidnaps Dr. Prem and forces him into a Jabariya Shaadi which is an actual thing in Bihar where the bride’s family kidnaps the groom and makes him marry her 😭 The topic itself??? So unique. I have never like NEVER read anything like this before.
But listen, this book isn’t just about love. It’s about pain, healing and finding your family in a person 🥹🩷.My heart ached for Bhakti and everything she endured especially what her own dad put her through 💔 That man was the real villain. I swear if I were in the book, I would’ve punched him straight up 😤
Now Prem... THE MAN. He has my entire heart. Such a huge green flag, it’s unreal 💚 He stood by Bhakti, protected her, comforted her, even cooked for her 😭 He claimed to hate her, but boy was falling for her petal by petal and didn’t even realize it. He knew what her favourite flower was just because she stared at it for 5 seconds longer. I can’t rant enough..he’s that man.
Bhakti and Prem together? DIVINE.
Also, shoutout to the side characters — Adhyanshi, Prem’s dad, Kunal ....literal cuties, all of them 🎀✨ Especially Prem’s dad he became the father Bhakti never had. Those moments had me SOBBING 😭✨
If you’re looking for a swoon-worthy rom-com with ✨ enemies-to-lovers vibes ✨ forced marriage ✨ kidnapped groom ✨ slow burn that actually burns ✨ and found family that heals your heart
then you NEED to read The Captive Groom. You can read anyyyyything this author writes and you will LOVE it. 😭💗✨
This book had a really good potential. The premise is very different because it’s the BRIDE kidnapping the GROOM. Tbh I liked the first few chapters of the book. I really enjoyed reading it, writing style wasn’t bad either.
So my issue is with a few points. Firstly, the romance between the MCs. It’s non existent for the first 50% of the book. They rarely talk, rarely interact. It’s more like life story of Bhakti for that first part. And in the second half, there’s a little bit of flirting, suddenly MMC calling FMC “love”, and then they hookup in the last 20% maybe and ILY’s are shared. It was all executed badly. Secondly, for the first few chapters - it’s shown that the MMC’s father is some sort of Villain or something who’ll force his son to marry his best friend’s daughter just because. But he turns out to be a nice guy… Thirdly, the Isha plot… She disappears after first interaction. Fourthly, I did not like the main characters individually. Sure Bhakti was quirky here and there but she was weak. Like she acted all strong and shit in front of others but she was weak enough to think her father loved her. I didn’t like that.
The Captive Groom is honestly one of the most refreshing romance stories I’ve read in a while! The concept itself — a girl kidnapping a guy and forcefully marrying him — is so unusual yet written in such an engaging and adorable way that you can’t help but keep reading.
Bhakti and Prem’s chemistry is full of tension, fun, and unexpected emotions. I loved how their relationship slowly evolved from a forced situation to something genuinely heartfelt. The story beautifully blends humour, emotions, and a touch of drama.
Akshita’s writing style is simple yet expressive — it keeps you hooked throughout. It’s the kind of book that makes you smile, laugh, and even feel a little emotional at times.
If you’re looking for something different, cute, and entertaining, this one’s definitely worth reading! 💕
One of the best book I have read it so far in romcom genre! Bhakti and Prem are here to steal readers hearts with their chemistry. Laughed, cried, giggled so hard. The way they have found their way back to each other with their love for each other! Author never fails to swoon readers heart with her storytelling skill. Eagerly waiting to read more from capture vow series book 2!
Unique plot. The girl kidnaps the boy and marries him at gunpoint. This story is not only about love , it’s also about healing , support and protecting your loved ones. I have 2 favorite lines . One is about the lotus and mud and other one is where he says stay with me and I will be the ground to your feet.
