Listen, this was good - but... I don't think this needed to be 4 books. I think if it was 3 books and each one had a little more info, that would have done the trick. Full RTC. 3.5 Stars.

3 ★'s This is kind of what you would expect out of the final book of a fantasy series. The evil people got what they deserved, it tied up a lot of loose ends, answered a bunch of questions and all is as it should be… but the way there was just simply a bit anticlimactic.
✧"He was never my ruin. He was always my salvation"✧
I have been so invested in Lor, Nadir and the people of Ouranos' story. This series has taken me from high highs, to low lows. Laughing, crying, and rooting for them even when I barely knew which way was up. I am ultimately happy with how things were wrapped up, but I can't help myself feeling that it was a bit lackluster. The decisions and choices made felt a bit lazy. It felt more like the author was focused to cram in all the information necessary to fully tie it all together instead of focusing on the characters, their individual journeys and the general flow of the story. For me this was visible in the repetitive dialogue, the lack of development in relationships and the general lack of drama. Maybe some people will like that, but for me it just felt predictable.
✧"She makes me want to be the best version of myself. She's like the sun, and everything else is just the stars lucky to be moving around her."✧
I am happy I followed Lor's journey to the very end. She is a boss ass bitch and deserves to be queen. Nisha is an expert in creating nuance in all her characters, and I did enjoy the comparisons she did between the past and current timeline. So overall, it was a satisfying ending... but it could've also been more.
ㅤ I really tried to enjoy this series, but I was, unfortunately, entirely unable to do so. I genuinely believed things would get better with this series, especially after the 3rd book was a rather pleasant surprise, but my hopes entirely crumbled less than halfway through this book.
ㅤ I was simply unable to get attached to any of these characters and their story; the romance fell entirely flat and it lacked both depth and chamistry; the plot was so predictable that, at times, I was getting a strong and strange sense of deja vu while reading since I was able to guess everything happening in this book. The fact that I was unable to imagine this book as anything else other than one of those bad films with cheap CGI also didn't help; my mind was only on that particular element, and I couldn't take the magic system seriously anymore. ㅤ I was also more interested in the backstory of some of the villains in this book and I was genuinely entertaining their chapters more than whatever it is that was going on with the present-day characters.
ㅤ Sadly, I found myself reading this and finishing it just for the sake of finishing this story and not abandoning it when I was already so far in it. But it was really hard for me to enjoy any of it. If you found yourself enjoying the first three books, then you will absolutely love this one too, but it was, unfortunately, not for me. However, please keep in mind that this is only based on my personal preference, so don't let me sway your opinion in any way, and give this a chance if you feel like it.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹ ㅤ ᯓ ✿ pre-reading ⪼ ㅤ started ┆28-Jan-2025┆ ㅤ ㅤ ⤿ I gave myself exactly one day to recover after Onyx Storm and now I need to finish this series. I am really hoping this isn't a disappointment.
This book is such a shame. The rest of the series was a lot of fun, with some interesting ideas and a wide cast that pointed to a big showdown with lots of intricate plot points connecting...
...and instead we got this. I feel bad writing such a harsh review, but this book is not great and I don't think I'd recommend the rest of the series, despite how much I enjoyed it, because of this. If I hadn't read 3 other books to get to this point, I would have DNFed at 75%. I had to put my kindle to the mode that shows how long you've got left to read to convince myself to finish the last hour and a half.
So what was wrong with it? First, every other paragraph spelt out in explicit detail what people were thinking - usually about how much they loved another person or that they were terrified of losing them or some such - in a way that I don't think you get even in the most YA of YA. You could probably have cut the page count down by a quarter just by taking out the unnecessary internal monologues about how proud so and so was of how much so and so has grown as a person. Most of the time, we had no evidence of them doing anything!
The second is that none of it really made sense? Herrick I think was mentioned in the last book, but he very much did come out of nowhere as the big bad. We had no real clue of his motivations other than 'evil', and everything he did felt forced, as if the things he did were to serve the exact story the author wanted to tell, regardless of whether any of it made logical sense. Similarly, we got a pov from the aurora king that made him seem flatter of a character than he'd been when we could only see him from the outside.
Third (but linked), is that in the end there weren't really any stakes. Our heroes didn't succeed because of their skills, thinking up something smart, or even really the power of their love (although clearly that was the aim). Their foes just... didn't have the requisite information that would stop them, despite seeming to know loads about their lives. Every single difficulty that was placed in front of them at the end was quickly pushed aside in a really anticlimactic way, so that you wondered what they'd been worried about for 4 whole books.
And finally, everything was wrapped up in such a neat bow that it just defied all sense. My eyes rolled into the back of my head at some of the things that happened. All of the problems that characters had listed themselves as real concerns just... didn't work out that way. Hurray! There was absolutely no pay off to any of it.
In short: I wouldn't recommend this book. It's such a shame, because the author clearly put her heart and soul into this book. Ironically, I think it could have done with a strong editor to pull a bit of the heart out of it and replace it with common sense.
I still can't believe I finished this series! If you love immersing yourself in a fantasy world with not just one kingdom but multiple, and where balance must be maintained above all else!!! This series is for you!
The plot gets thicker and more intense with each book, and by the time you reach this one, you're basically a master of all political intrigue in this universe. You know exactly what NEEDS to happen for peace to reign... but no one said it would be easy, and that is exactly why this series is SO GOOD. It keeps you on edge the entire time!
The romance was another aspect I absolutely loved throughout the series. The main characters (i don't want to spoil so ill leave it out) go up and down throughout their entire relationship and it struck the perfect balance of seriousness, banter, heart, and of course, the spice! For it to finally finish the end of the line in the most beautiful conclusion AGHH MY HEART.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Definitely recommend. Oficially Nisha J Tuli has become a favorite author of mine.

First I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was absolutely delighted when my request was approved to read this final installment, I literally devoured the whole series in a WEEK!
So much pay-off and unexpected twists! and of course, scenes that gripped my emotions. This finale is definitely a rollercoaster ride!
There were a few teeny tiny bits that made me scratch my head, but I'm pleased with the outcome (without any spoilers).
Thank you Nisha for taking me on this thrilling adventure! I will miss these characters dearly.. And congratulations on publishing the final book in the Artefacts of Ouranos series 💛
This is a must-read for all fantasy romance enthusiasts!
I’m still processing this one - I devoured and enjoyed Books 1-3 of this series, but, while it had some highlights, The Tale of the Heart Queen fell so short. It felt like an entirely different story with a different storytelling strategy than the rest of the series.
Tell with very little Show. Conflict that was far too easy resolved.
Whew okay. I truly hope this is a “it’s me not the book” problem because so many people seem to really love this book. But to me, this book (and book 3 tbh) seem like VERY different books than the first two in the series. Maybe that’s because I haven’t read the first three since they came out, so I may be misremembering. But I feel like that’s one of the trademarks of an excellent series - you can still pick up the main aspects of the book even if you haven’t read the book in a while?
This book was just messy. And for this book to be the last in the series … but nothing was wrapped up by the first 60% of the book? And still introducing new characters and challenges in the final book? To then be like “okay we have multiple questions to answer let’s do that right at the end of the book” … and why are we introducing new POVs ?
And Lor. I really wanted her to grow so much more as a character over the course of 4 books than she did and that was disappointing.
AGAIN. This might be a “it’s me” problem please don’t bully me😭
I couldn’t wait to be done with this book, I was so close to just putting it down and not finishing it so many times but I pushed through and it did not get better. There were a few parts I did enjoy though but not enough for me to like it
This one is a difficult review for me to write. I love Nisha J. Tuli as a person. I loved both books 1 and 2 in this series a lot. I recommend this series to everyone I know. Book 3 was a little slow for me but I saw it as a set up for the final book. Which really didn't bother me at all. But I do not know where we went wrong with this one. I am being generous giving this book a 2 star rating. This book is nearly 700 pages. And now having finished the series, I truly believe this should have been a trilogy. Books 3 and 4 could have easily been combined. Tale of the Heart Queen suffers from quite a few things: 1) Lor just travels back and forth and back and forth across the lands pretty aimlessly. 2) The big bad we were promised through 3 books suddenly has the weirdest redemption arc I've ever seen that was honestly one of the cringiest things I've ever read. 3) Suddenly in the back half of this book we are given a whole new villain that has barely been mentioned. 4) Lor and Nadir are forced to compete in the most useless of trials right at the very end of the book that does nothing to further the plot. Attacked by bears? Really? Bears? And quicksand? QUICKSAND! 5) The most HEA in all of HEAs that has been written. Making all the turmoil of the last 4 books seem almost pointless if everyone just ends up so damn happy at the end.
I was so relieved to finish this gigantic book. But I truly would have DNFed it if it wasn't the final book of the series. I will still read Nisha's stuff and hope this is just a one off of bad writing. But to say I'm disappointed would be a huge understatement.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The only reason I refused to DNF this series is because I got a ridiculously gorgeous special edition boxed set.😅
Honestly though I did not enjoy it at all: - Plot holes for days - Impossible obstacles getting magically resolved/ignored just to wrap things up neatly - No chemistry between the main characters - Dialogue felt forced - Secondary characters completely lost their personalities after the first book - WAY too much time spent giving the characters long-winded epiphanies and sentimental moments (IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS NO LESS... where you'd expect them to be running for their lives, but no let's take a moment to reminisce!) - Magic system made NO SENSE! It's like the author kept forgetting what she explains about it in previous books and either completely rewrites it or forgets about it and hopes we do too.
The writing itself: I once read a tip for writers: "Don't tell me, SHOW me" and I think it really should have been applied here.
I wish this had been a trilogy! I gave 5 stars to the first 3 books…or perhaps it’s a me problem!? As I left too big of a gap between book 3 & 4 and was no longer emotionally invested.
Tale of the Heart Queen (Artefacts of Ouranos #4) by Nisha J. Tuli After Lor makes the biggest mistake of her life, she finds herself on the run from the Aurora King and decides it's time to end this, once and for all. But when a new enemy emerges to claim her freedom, the entire fate of Ouranos comes to rest on her shoulders. I was in tears so often towards the end. Just all the feels. The author really knows how to build your attachment to these characters and their fate. Not just our darling's Lor and Nadir. I was so invested in what happened to Willow, Gabriel, Tyr, Amya, Tristan, and all the rest. I definitely did not want this story to end but the ending that was given was just *chef's kiss*. The trials and struggles everyone had to face and how everyone pulled together. We got to see the relationship between Lor and Nadir really bl0om, be tested and just give you something to cheer for. I loved the whole love story for these two. I loved that not only was this book about love, it had so many good aspects of found family, helping others, finding yourself, overcoming your past and so much more. Just an overall wonderful read I am sure I will come back to again.

*~> 3.5/5 <~* A nice happy conclusion to tie up all the loose endings. I loved this series as a whole. I felt much stronger about the other books as this book felt like it dragged on and just meh…. but I will accept this ending as I do love a happy ending. Lor and Nadir are one of my favorite book couples and I am very happy with their conclusion in this book.
⭐️⭐️— Too long, too much, and kind of a relief to finish.
This book felt like it was trying to do everything—and ended up doing too much.
By the time I reached the final chapters, I wasn’t sad it was ending like I usually am with a series. I just wanted to be done. It was too long, and that emotional connection I wanted to feel at the end was nowhere to be found.
We had a quest that literally took her all over the place—that part was fine, I didn’t mind it. But then we got hit with another set of trials near the end, and that just felt completely unnecessary. It dragged. It didn’t add anything meaningful, I honestly didn’t see the point of it, and I found myself skimming just to get through. Instead of building toward a satisfying conclusion, it felt like the story was stretching things out for no reason.
And sadly, I didn’t end up liking Lor any more by the end than I did before. Across all four books, her character barely changed. There was no real growth, no self-awareness, no payoff for the journey we were supposed to be on with her. She stayed annoying right to the end, and I’ve never rolled my eyes so much at a character before.
It’s a shame, because her opening line in book one—“That bitch stole my soap”—was brilliant. I had such high hopes for her as a character… but she’s honestly ended up as one of my least favorite FMCs.
4.5⭐️ 2🌶️ | TikTok | Fantastic conclusion to a very fun series!
What I loved… - the 🌶️ in all Nisha J. Tuli’s books is just so good. - Nadir + Lor Perfection - found family - easy to binge - a very satisfying wrap up - high stakes and adventure - lots of personal growth and character development
What I didn’t love… - the writing can be a bit tell not show at times.
Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for sending this book (eARC) for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
i'm so glad it ended. it was a fun ride, but i was exhausted by the end of this series. happy everyone is living their best lives, but honestly, how did they end up in the equivalent of the hunger games arena at the end?
may lor and nadir never experience pain again and live their days smashing in the forest.
perfect for unserious people who want to experience the equivalent of a lobotomy.
This book is a whirlwind culmination of this series. All the pieces are coming together, and Lor and Nadir are fighting for their lives and for the potential peaceful future they could have, if they are able to overcome the Aurora King (Nadir's father) and Zerra (the previously thought benevolent goddess).
I love how deliciously complex this series is with multiple rulers all in various states of goodness and badness. Plus, there are flashbacks from the "original" rulers of these lands, and their goodness or badness. Plus, there is Nadir and Lor who are fighting against people who would use them only for their power. But what limits are they placing on themselves and their power, so that they stay on the side for good. Do the ends always justify the means?
I love series like this, that make me question my own morality and the morality of others. Plus, I enjoy the complexity of having so many characters and moving parts.
I can't wait to read more from Ms. Nisha Tuli, now that I've finished this amazing series!
The way book 3 ended had me running to book 4, and I binged it in a day. Lor has just made a monumental mistake, and Nadir ends up in the most surprising of places. I loved the pace of the plot in this book. There was so much action and so many things happening in different places and different timelines, but it all came together so well. It became a little chaotic keeping up at one point and then the author said, “Chapter 29: Lor: Who the Fuck Knows- Present Day” and I cackled out loud in public. All the loose ends were tied up perfectly- almost a little too perfectly, but it’s fine, I’ll take it. This book was a little predictable at times and sometimes there was more telling than showing, but it was still such a fun adventure. There were so many sweet and funny moments to balance out all the crazy things happening. I was so invested in Gabriel, Tyr, Tristan, and Willow. Even some of the villains had my attention. I saw reviews saying this series should’ve stopped at 3 books, but I enjoyed all 4.
The PERFECT ending!! At one point I was like.. how is this all going to come together??? So many questions?? But it was wrapped up wonderfully!! (In Nisha we trust)
Lor & Nadir have one of the best book relationships imo!!
It felt so silly goofy to be saving the world from two big powerful chaotic evil people through deadly trials lol. But this was such an action packed, easy to fly through read.
I wish the plot had been a little more focused on some topics that came up - like the major class divide in the society felt like a footnote when that could’ve had major emotional impact. It felt like the plot was trying to do too much. I do look forward to more from Tuli because polishing her plot structure will lead to some fun reads in the future.
This was amazing!!! I have loved this series from the start! We did get a little bit of middle book syndrome during this series but I still enjoyed it! This world is super fun and the magic systems are really cool!! The characters were all so different! Everyone had such incredible personalities and no one seemed the same.
The character growth was incredible. I am sad this series is over but I'm glad it didn't get dragged on like a few other series that shouldn't be more than a trilogy..... ANYWAY this took me FOREVER to finish but not because I didn't enjoy it but because I have been reading way too many books at the same time lately and felt like I couldn't catch up 😭
I love Lor and Nadir. I am SO happy the ending Rion got!!! That was awesome! The last trial they had to do was really fun! Not for them but it was for me lol. This was the best ending to a series this expansive. I feel like we closed everything someone could have a question about! The beautiful endings and beginnings just was chefs kiss. Everyone needs to try this series!
Thank you to NetGalley for a chance to read the ARC before it is released.
First, I loved this series and was really looking forward to seeing how it would all come together in the end. However, I was disappointed in this final installment. It was far too long with a lot of unnecessary character interactions and conversations. It felt like the author wanted to make sure we as readers understood the relationships and emotions and was just shoving it down our throats. It was missing the “show not tell” aspect that I appreciate about strong writing. I found myself skipping through a lot because it was eye-roll inducing.
There was also so much lead up to the final climax and then it felt underwhelming and resolved so quickly. I usually appreciate a nicely tied up ending, but this all felt so unsatisfying. The spice sometimes felt forced and unnatural for the events that were going on at the time like it was added just to satisfy a checkbox.
This is how you finish a series!!!!!! With all loose ends tied. 👏🏾 This is so well written I don't know why people say it's bland😬💀 Infinity stars 😭♥️🧎🏾♀️ This series has my heart and soul 💋 . Also yes this book deserved a book 4 I don't why some people were complaining.
The fact that she also added the part where her siblings give her soap as a present 🤣!!! That's what I call attention to details! Lor is officially added to my BOOK BADDIES because she is one!!!!
My favourite quote:
“I don’t care. I wish I could open my brain and let you see that I don’t care about a crown. I have never cared about a crown. I care only for you.”
I'm definitely going to read more books from this author 👏🏾🙂
This was a painful read. The amount of smut in this book was so unnecessary. World was on the verge of ending and yall out here fucking??🤨
The writing was not great either. I felt like I was reading a rough draft. I got way too many second hand embarrassment moments throughout this book.
There was such a big build up to all of these massive conflicts Lor was gonna have to resolve and they were all resolved easily. I’d like my money back 😭
