Zariah Cross stopped celebrating Halloween three years ago, the night her best friend, Myah, vanished under mysterious circumstances. Since then, birthdays have been quiet, with only old horror movies to keep her company. But on the eve of her thirty-fifth, the veil between worlds thins, and something wicked seeks her out.
Zariah opens her eyes to find herself no longer in her apartment, but deep within the shadowed woods of River Falls, barefoot and covered in dirt. Disoriented and terrified, she runs for her life.
Until she collides with a man who feels more beast than human.
Klaus Davenport, Alpha of the River Falls pack, never believed fate would curse him with a human mate. But the moment he inhales Zariah’s scent, his wolf recognizes her. Protecting her is instinct. Claiming her is destiny. But there’s one problem, Zariah is wearing a gold band on her ring finger.
When Klaus brings her into his world of werewolves, witches, and creatures that hunt under the Blood Moon, Zariah learns the truth about Myah’s disappearance. As their bond deepens, danger closes in from every shadow. Klaus will kill anyone who threatens her, even one of his own betas. Now, caught between love and loyalty, dreams and reality, Zariah must decide what’s real. The man with gold eyes who said he would protect her, or the basic life she wakes to every morning while mourning her dead best friend.
B. Nicole Anderson was raised and still resides in the DMV area. She has loved collecting and reading books since she was in middle school. B Nicole’s mom would bring home random children's books and would sit with B while she read them out loud for thirty minutes daily. Her love for reading continued through her early twenties. Now in her thirties, her love for reading has returned, and getting lost in a fictional world is her favorite hobby. B Nicole has written many stories but never dreamt of publishing them, but with a little persuasion in 2025, she finally focused on writing and completing her stories.
She writes contemporary, urban, and paranormal black romance stories, with a uniqueness that makes you laugh, swoon, and cry, but her ultimate goal is to make you feel connected to the characters.
When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found at home in her mini library, binge-watching a show, traveling with her husband and three kids, roller skating, or on TikTok scrolling for hours.
This was a decent book. I feel like Zariah should’ve been more shocked or apprehensive. I get that it was a novella but still needed a little more nurturing. I don’t know why him changing was this big thing when she’s already saw him change the day before. Also it doesn’t make sense that it took so long for a vampire to find her. I also would’ve thought that Zariah would’ve wished to see Myah or something for her birthday. The Mystic Falls reference was hilarious knowing the title of the book. I also would’ve like a conclusion about Dramon but maybe the book will become a series.
A few inconsistencies, like the wrong POV as well as the tenses changing. Interchanging him and her. Calling a scar a scratch.
I really enjoyed this paranormal story! The first couple of pages were chilling when the best friend was snatched within a blur! Witches, vampires, and wolves 🐺 are here in River Falls! So if you have Twilight vibes check this out!
Klaus by B. Nicole Anderson is a short but captivating paranormal novella that gave me The Originals × Vampire Diaries energy in the best way. It follows Zariah Cross, who stopped celebrating Halloween after her best friend went missing, only to wake up years later in a strange world where werewolves, witches, and danger lurk under the Blood Moon. When she meets Klaus Davenport — Alpha of the River Falls pack — things take a fated-mate turn that’s equal parts mysterious, emotional, and a little spicy. I loved how it began with a sense of loss and slowly unfolded into something magical and romantic.
It was a cute and surprisingly layered read for a novella. The mix of mystery, fantasy, and romance felt perfectly balanced, and I couldn’t help but laugh when Zariah thought it was all a dream. The chemistry between her and Klaus was sweet and swoony without taking away from the darker tone of the story. I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because it was such an easy, enjoyable read, and I love that we’ll be getting more of this world every year — I’m definitely invested in whatever happens next in River Falls.
This is a great one to add to your list of Halloween stories. I found myself saying “oh heeeeeell nah”, laughing, and even a little bit of blushin with their tension. Zariah was made for Klaus and he wasn’t afraid to 🎶howl like he want it🎶. I hope she decides to keep this series going yearly because I need back story on Zariah’s grandmother and simply the love with Klaus and Zariah.
This was too good. Hated (and loved) that it was Novella because I wanted more. However, the author said we’ll see more from them. The ending almost had me but I’m more than satisfied with the way things turned out. Another hit from B. Nicole!
I may need to take a trip to River Falls, if all the werewolves there are as protective as Klaus! I loved how relatable Zariah’s first reaction was to Klaus, because who are you Sir?!? LOL. I also loved how Zariah handled being introduced to Klaus’s world. I really enjoyed reading this!
This book starts off with a bang and keeps you wanting to read more. The relationship between Klaus and Zariah feels genuine and not forced. Cute short story about finding a true mate. I would definitely read more of this series.
I like the idea of the author adding on to the universe every year to celebrate her birthday. This read is ground zero and establishes the lore and connections.
If you enjoy fated-love tropes, small-town secrets, and romances where the universe seems to be pushing two people together, this book delivers. Heartfelt, comforting, and satisfying from beginning to end.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As a person who loves and enjoys paranormal romance, this novella is so good from beginning to the very last page. I just wish that the story is a little longer because I didn't want the story to end that fast.
If you’re looking for a Halloween novella , This is the one for you! I really enjoy this book! I’m Not a big fantasy girlie but yall I ate this up and I’m ready for more 😆 the mystery, the tension & the fated love between the two had me locked in! I hope this this becomes a complete series because I need the story on everyone involved lol
If a shifter’s involved—I’m in! Zaria and Klaus had undeniable chemistry, and the author did a great job blending humor, heat, and mystery in a way that kept me hooked. The story gave me vibes from the show Haven with its small-town charm and supernatural edge, which made me want to know even more about this world. I did wish for a bit more backstory on Zaria’s powers and a clearer understanding of the vampire’s motives, but overall, this was a solid fast-paced paranormal debut with great energy. It was a quick read that left me curious to see what the author does next.
