A suspenseful atmospheric pressure is building from a medical thriller. I felt like I couldn't turn away. It's thrilling plot is drama filled.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Cure by Eva Boris is an engaging and imaginative read that blends suspense, emotion, and a touch of sci-fi flair. Boris crafts a fast-moving story with high stakes and compelling characters, making it easy to get swept up in the mystery at its core. Sharp writing and a steady sense of intrigue keep the pages turning, and the emotional undertones give the plot real depth. A gripping, satisfying read for fans of speculative thrillers.
Mysterious and suspenseful, fast-paced, with good balance between thrilling/suspenseful and romantic elements. I found myself wanting to learn all I could about the characters, their backgrounds, and relationships — especially details surrounding Elise’s backstory and how/why she came to be in the doctor’s care.
My favorite aspect of The Cure was the book’s setting on the remote island of Urup. The author’s descriptions of the island’s raw and powerful nature created a visceral experience where as a reader I felt the cold and dampness of the thick fog, heard the wind moving through the trees, and tasted the salt spray of the coastal waves on my lips. I’ve never been anywhere near the Kuril Islands, but Boris transported me there with ease.
A Captivating, Heart-Wrenching Tale of Survival I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway. It’s a story that starts with all the warmth of a romance, only to turn into a high-stakes psychological thriller. The story follows Elise, an ultimately courageous heroine, who has an incredibly humble and resilient voice. She immediately grabs your heart. Despite living in an environment entirely structured by manipulation and relentless gaslighting, Elise turns passivity to action. Her desire to live grows stronger with every page. This was an easy but emotional read. It explores breaking free from the unseen shackles of a toxic relationship. A big thank you to the author and publisher for this engaging experience!
