I just started reading Christina Diane. This is only my 11th book by her. I saw another of her books when I was downloading another new author and also ran across her on a FB takeover in one of my steamy book groups. Her stories are well written and sex is pretty good.
I loved Lydia and Elias. I loved their story. I very rarely cry reading a book. I read over 300 books a year and I can count on one hand how many times I've cried in a book. This one got me at the beginning and the end. It gave me all the feels. I even read it all in one day and for doing that on a Saturday when I'm doing so many other things, tells you how good it was. Oh, and sex was pretty hot too!!! 😉 Definitely adding to favorite books read list for Nov, 2025.

Very much a book that races to get to the spice even if the two mains have only had one conversation with each other before it happens.
This is very insta lusty and has some body betrayal elements which isn’t my favourite. If the fmc is doing something so banal and the mmc can’t help but think of his dick it feels like a cheat to persuade readers that there’s chemistry there when there really isn’t. These two don’t know each other and they don’t even know each other by the end of the novella.
I probably would have dnfed if it wasn’t a novella.

The story of a jaded rake finding his way to love and embracing all that it entails is a tender and miraculous holiday blessing. Elias is jaded and turned his back on love in his earlier days determined to live his life enjoying life’s pleasure and locking his heart away. Lydia is a woman of curious nature who let herself get carried away and was now paying the price. She would never be swayed by the likes of a rake and vowed never to marry for less than love. These two misguided fools are struck hard and fast with the bite of attraction and their battle to deny it is entertaining. At every turn you can see their growing emotion even as they deny. I enjoyed watching this rake fall. Despite his determination, he is clearly a man full of heart that secretly longs for the love he grew up with even as he fears it. Lydia is such an openly giving and trusting woman and deserves to be loved. I especially enjoyed the seamless blending of the families. The Snowdon house has been shrouded in grief and sadness and the all deserve the happiness that comes from being surrounded by love everyday. This is a well-written endearing tale of how love can heal even the deepest pain.

Oh My!! What a fantastic start to a new series by Christina Diane!! I truly loved this book and enjoyed reading it!! It started off very emotional while leading up to a very heart warming ending. It was fabulous!! I absolutely loved Elias and Lydia and thought they were absolutely wonderful together. The secondary character were truly delightful and really added to the story without being a distraction. I liked how the story flowed and alternated between Elias and Lydia’s side of the story. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next book in the series!!

Snowmen, mulled wine, mistletoe and colourful company; this was a lovely lighthearted holiday novella with all the seasonal trimmings!
After she caught her betrothed with a maid, Lydia vowed to never again fall for a rake, no matter how sweet his words or how skilful his hands. No, love and loyalty was what she wanted, and she would settle for nothing less.
Witnessing his father go to hell and back after his beloved mother’s tragic demise, Elias vowed to never fall in love. No, his libertine life suited him just fine, and – eventually – he’d marry for convenience, sire an heir and be done with it.
However, neither of them expected Cupid to strike at his family’s Christmas house party...
It was really nice to get two protagonists who came from warm, loving nests. I loved how close-knit Elias’s family was, how natural their dynamics felt; the sibling bickering & teasing, the care and protectiveness they all felt towards each other, and especially those father-son moments – and how it all influenced Lydia as well. I really enjoyed seeing both of them grow and grow closer.
The distrust-to-desire plot suited this couple so beautifully! They both needed to discover every penny has two sides, and they did it in a playful, naughty way I really enjoyed.
The prowling exes added a nice touch of drama, and his friends made the picture complete.
A fun and spicy quick read that will definitely get you in the Christmas mood!

This was such a cozy, swoony holiday romance. I went in expecting a light Christmas love story and ended up getting a lot more heart than I anticipated.
Elias Armstrong is the classic reformed-by-love rake—charming, broken, and determined not to feel too much. His grief over his mother gives real weight to his choices, and I liked that his fear of love felt earned instead of dramatic. Lydia, on the other hand, was a pleasant surprise. She’s cautious, sharp-tongued, and understandably wary after being hurt before. I really enjoyed how she didn’t immediately fall for Elias’s charm and made him work for every inch of trust.
The chemistry between them builds slowly, with stolen glances, lingering touches, and just enough tension to keep things deliciously frustrating in the best way. The snowy Christmas setting, mistletoe moments, and house-party drama made everything feel warm and festive without overpowering the romance.
What I appreciated most was how both characters had to confront their pasts before they could move forward. The emotional payoff felt satisfying, and the ending left me smiling.

Lydia is a lady of the ton that has been scorn by a betrothal in the past. Leading her to be cautious and strict for the partners she is set out to choose for the future.
While Elias is a viscount of the ton. The only Man to take over the title and estates. He is also dealing with the grief and trauma for loosing his mom years prior.
When Elias’s sister brings them together in a Christmas gathing outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. Lydia and Elias and thrusted into a forced proximity of glances and moments!
I love the stolen moments of times these two got! It created a brilliant tension for the reader awaiting for them to give in to their feelings of want.
Something I felt was brilliantly done, was that their trauma didn’t over take! Both of these characters have a large change trauma from their past, but were in written so beautifully to overcome and heal in a healthy manner on their own.

We also have Elias Armstrong, Viscount Snowdon who is Lady Diana’s erstwhile brother! Elias has a reputation as a rake and man about town! He has seen how love can wreck a person and you never recover! His mother passed away at Christmas so this a difficult time of year but they try to spread love and cheer for their father’s sake!
Lydia knows a rake she she sees one and will have nothing to do with Elias! She is drawn to him but is determined to stand her ground!
Elias is smitten but he’s determined to remain immune and has a much more difficult time pursuing Lydia since one of his past affairs have appeared at the Christmas party!
But Lydia’s past almost fiancé had not forgotten her and is planning revenge!

I did enjoy the leads together and the book had a lot of fun side characters that I hope will make appearances in the rest of the series. Looking forward to the next book in this series!
This was an enjoyable quick read and once I got into it I couldn't put it down. This was a shorter book so while I know everything had to happen quicker I did find it a bit unrealistic for our Rake to go from "not going to wed for years" to "all in" in a matter of a few days leaving an insta lust/love feel. Lydia once deciding that she couldn't avoid Elias and stating she didn't expect anything more from him then what he could give very soon after was acting jealous and wanting to know how he felt about her you two just met a day or so ago give him time lady!

For a short little novella this packed so many emotions!
Our fmc Lydia thinks herself in love, and on the verge of marriage when she sneaks off to visit her soon to be betrothed only to find herself betrayed. She vows to only marry someone that will love her completely. Elias the mmc, loses his mother early in the story and after seeing his father nearly lose himself to grief tells himself he will never fall in love.
Lydia is invited to a holiday party, held by Elias' sister. The two have instant chemistry, but will Elias' let himself fall in love? Will Lydia trust a renowned Rake? There are several side characters that add to the story and will hopefully turn up in the series.
The flow of the story was perfect, and it truly felt really fleshed out considering the length of the story.

Avoiding the Merry Viscount is a Regency Christmas novella set at a lively country house party. (Hello to House Party lovers!) Elias Armstrong, Viscount Snowdon, arrives planning to coast through the holiday on charm and flirtations, keeping his feelings firmly locked away. Lydia Cary, a sensible guest with her own romantic scars, is just as determined to steer clear of rakes, especially one with Elias’ reputation. As snow, family activities, and far too much mistletoe keep pushing them together, their sharp back-and-forth slowly softens into real connection, forcing them both to throw off their old habits for the risk of a love that might actually last.
I really enjoyed how Christina Diane sets up Elias and Lydia with opposite attitudes toward relationships. He wants nothing to do with love, while she wants nothing to do with rakes, and Diane lets that tension drive both their chemistry and their growth. The dialogue is a particular highlight: quick, emotionally aware, and often very funny, which makes their vulnerable moments feel believable. On the downside, the late arrival of an outright villain didn’t work as well for me; the twist feels a bit random and contrived, as though the story suddenly needed an external threat when the emotional and social stakes were already enough. Overall, it’s a cozy, engaging Christmas romance with a strong central couple and great conversation, even if the villain subplot briefly pulled me out of the story.

I enjoyed this holiday novella. It started with a holiday that lead to sad memories that were replaced years later with memories of joy and love. Elias and Lydia met at a holiday house party thrown by his sister. There was an instant attraction that they both couldn’t deny. The more time they spent together, Lydia was able to see that there was more to Elias than his reputation. This novella contained life long friendships, witty banter, funny younger siblings, humorous dialogue, hidden villains, implied violence, romance, love, and a HEA. This story gave steam, good characters, heroism,, insight into grief and endearing love. I enjoyed this story even though I had to deal with a villain trying to spoil their happiness.

I liked the previous short story that I read by this author so I had a good feeling going into this story but I just didn't enjoy it. First I just didn't care for Elias, he was a fboy cause of how his mother's death affected his dad but we just didn't see the angst this would have caused enough for my taste. At one point, he was like do I sound like that (about another rake) and he assess he does sometimes. I must agree he does. And I did like Lydia more. I liked that she wasn't an overly shy virgin. She instigated acts that she wanted.
I was thinking that this was going to be 3 stars but I just thought the ending was a little over the top. I think I would try another story by this author in the future.

This was a really lovely story. It was a perfect example of a reformed rake trope. The story had a little dash of everything - romance, passion, grief, loss, redemption, excitement, and love. It was so heartwarming to watch a family who lost a mom try to move forward, but continue to love one another, despite their grief. It was truly moving.
The main characters were fun and flirty. Elias was charming. It was easy to see why Lydia had a hard time resisting him. Lydia was just as great. She was bold and intelligent. They made a really exquisite couple.
I highly recommend this story for a cozy, romantic, , heartwarming Christmas tale.

The flashback to start the book was fitting, but it would have been nice to get a bit more backstory. I would have liked to see when Lydia and Diana met and became friends, for example.

Well, that was scorching hot. Elias has sworn off love because he saw how much his father suffered when Elias' mother died when he was young. Lydia had also sworn off love because she was once in a relationship with a guy who cheated on her.
Turns out, Lydia and Elias are perfect for each other. This book is a novella but it packs a punch! Also great side characters.
I'd love to see Elias' father get a book as well and find love again, now that his kids are grown.

Christina has done it once again proving with this book why she’s my go to historical romance author. First of all, look at that cover - I love it! This short, steamy and festive read was an entertaining one. Elias and Lydia found their match in each other, and for two people sworn off love, they sure know how to set these pages on fire with their chemistry. From scandal to secrets to meddling exes and loving friends and family, there’s something for everyone in this novella. Highly recommended!

A sizzling short story that had everything I could possibly want in a romance book.
I enjoyed the cast of characters with all of their emotions that drew me into delightful love story.
The authors descriptive writing skills had me swooning and panting more than once.

I really enjoyed reading this. I ahed more tears than I expected but it was so worth it. I did think the transition from them experiencing lust to love was a little sudden but it didn't ruin anything. The way the mmc was written as a reformed rake was perfect and so was the way the fmc had trust issues and worked to overcome them. everyone time the mmc's mother was mentioned it made me tear up. it was so bittersweet and the family honouring her every year was beautiful

I found this book very enjoyable and entertaining. It's a quick read, but I never felt the story was rushed. I found the main characters, Lydia and Elias, lovable and well-developed. There is a delicious chemistry between them. I also greatly appreciated the interactions among Elias's family members, which were so touching, and featured some beautiful, moving scenes.

Sweet & Spicy Xmas Romance
Just finished reading it and quite enjoyed it.
I do love a reformed rake and a bold heroine!
I thought Diana (not the heroine) would end up with one of Ellias’ friends but maybe there’s a twist later down the line. Also can’t want to find out why Matt and Judson don’t speak to each other! I’ll be impatiently waiting for the rest of this series to be released.

She doesn't want to get attached either. She has already had one heart break. But she is curious about the personal side of a relationship. She wants the viscount to be that man. There is a bit of spicy for this house party.

Listen, I understand that this is a historical romance, it’s not going to be all sunshine’s, feminism, and rainbows. However… holy cow, it took a turn for the worst right at the end. Lydia and Elias started out pretty strong, both having a justifiable(ish) reason for avoiding love. The Christmas setting and familial love was super nice. I’ll even give credit where it’s due for building up the romance with semi-normal pacing for a book this short. I fear you lost me with the whole speed run engagement and assault plot line. But, it was pretty fun to explore a new genre and type of romance.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I throughly enjoyed it i loved that Lydia was strong enough to take what she wanted knowing that he was a rake and it was exactly what he would’ve wanted except he realised he didn’t want to take but give so started to woo her and win.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I don't think I had any particular idea on what to expect from a historical holiday romance, I'm a little out of touch with this genre, it’s been a while since I read it, so I just hoped to have a good time, and I did!
I loved the chemistry between the main characters. Although the story unfolds very quickly, it doesn't feel rushed. There's an event at the beginning that's very important for the rest of the story, it made me shed tears, and I was surprised by how quickly it managed to grab me and make me feel.
What I liked the most was that it truly feels like a Christmas story: They make a snowman, play charades with friends and family, put up decorations. There’s love and mistletoe.
It is sweet, cozy… And hot!
