I tried to convince myself that it will get better but it just got worse

Ok book 1 was a good book with good introductions to the characters, I enjoyed it even though it was OTT and then there were incidents that were left in the air but I figured they’d be in book 2 which they weren’t
Language usage sucks honestly and there isn’t any character development in fact it’s like they regressed, for a sharp guy Drake's “hunting skills” as the author wrote are non existent because if they were a lot of things could have been avoided and everything feels dragged and my goodness the unnecessary information on the cuisine 🫣
It’s like every character was a quarterback at some point in their lives in the series 😅
Homophobia , racism, Islamophobia from book 1 it’s just too much I thought the series won’t be monotonous and follow the same theme but it looks like it’s just going to get worse so I’m sorry but I’m not going to subject myself to this.
I actually thought this was going to be my favourite series especially with how Adam Drake was introduced in the first book. My journey with this series ends here
I’m sure I’ll not be reading this author’s work anymore, if it was possible I’d take back my one star rating and leave it blank.
Really enjoying this series. Adam Drake is an Oregon attorney, after having spent time in the military and, in this book, currently about a year after his wife passed away. He has been doing "special projects" for his father-in-law, a prominent Senator, working with Homeland Security and other agencies combining his legal expertise with his military experience. I really only have one complaint, the editing for this book was pretty poor. I don't remember as many errors in the first 2 of the series, and as someone who used to do a lot of editing, these things do tend to bother me. I marked quite a few of them for submission (through the Kindle function), but by no means all of them. None were glaring, just missing quotation marks, either opening or closing, missing or extraneous words, a couple places where "potassium chloride" should have been and "sodium chloride" was substituted....otherwise, well worth reading! Because of the editing errors I would rate it 3.5, but rounded up.
This is the third book in the series and was another action packed and page turner. All three books have been good, and I often find as a series progresses they sometimes lose a little sparkle. What I like about this series is there is action throughout, rather than just building to a crescendo towards the finale. It’s an easy 5 out of 5 from me. I will definitely be downloading book 4 and I would recommend the whole series to anyone who is looking for an action packed good story. Without giving any plot anyway, it is frightening this could actually happen in this strange world we are living in.
Adam Drake is again involved in a conspiracy from overseas. Adam is a very exciting character who gets involved in all sorts of things. This time he is involved in a conspiracy to bring down the electric grill in America. I found the plot to be exciting and good and easy to read. And I enjoy the series and the characters involved in it. The piece of the book is very good and I recommend it to all who like to read thrillers.
Book 3 and another good book. The threath to the power grid is scarry. Could this really happen? Wow.
The complex story of how to accomplish this feat is made almost to simple. But a good story. Not as many of the gang is involved but enough to keep the story moving.
As usual food and wine play a good part in the story!
I did wonder why the whiz IT kid wasn't more involved.
The relationship with Adam and Liz is no surprise.
1 wrong words, xtra words, sentences that make no sense all distract from the story. 2 Detailed explanations of meals unnecessary to the story. 3 The hiring of a replacement employee without proper background checks and then putting him in charge of a team working on a sensitive project smacks of irresponsibility. 4 At times the title character seems clueless. Could be stronger and more intuitive
Really enjoyed this book and love Adam and good at what he does .With the threat of the power grid going down is scary and an old foe comes into the plot . Scary when you read books like this as were soo reliant on technology to get us through our lives and would be total disaster is this was to happen . Great read with non stop action .
pretty good story follows on very well from books 1 & 2. I like this author and it is obvious that he fact finds before putting type to paper. My one question is where do we go from here? I look forward to his next book whatever it is.
I enjoy how the plot of one book rolls into the next with many of the same characters. There are quite a few coincidences which place the main character in the middle of all the action, but that’s acceptable.
Kept me riveted from start to finish. Great series. Looking forward to the next book and where the relationship between Liz and Adam is headed as they battle to protect the country.
Fast moving and exciting thriller. Intertwined terrorists, neo nazis and cartel. Adam Drake grows stronger with each book. Looking forward to book 4, to see which oath he will take.
Another excellent story by Scott Matthews in the Adam Drake series. Lots of the usual characters and an excellent and exciting storyline. It moved at a really fast pace and kept me gripped from start to finish.Looking forward to reading more in the series.
Book #3 - Dark Trojan another great read by Scott Matthews and I'm off to book 4. These books are so realistic and scary because they so very possible in real life.
This is the third book in the Adam Drake series, and I was not disappointed in the installment. While you don't really need to read these in order, there are tie backs to the previous books in the series that I would consider spoilers. Recommended for anyone that likes terrorism type thrillers. Found out there are two more that I plan on reading.
Fiction? Yes but possible definitely. I hope that Scott Matthews does not have as working crystal ball. This story, while fictional, is highly probable. What is missing is the fact that catastrophic failure would affectIonate also. Our grid is not isolated. Our "leadership" needs to get their collective heads out of their butts and do something beside "study the political ramifications of action."
Great story, characters not supermen(women). Believable and scary.
Having read all 3 Adam Drake books this one was my favourite. Although a fictional plot, it is totally believable in that the storyline is based upon a very modern and probable threat. One thing this book did which the previous 2 failed to so was evoke some real emotion, however I don't want to specify this point which would result in a spoiler.
These Adam Drake books are fun 007 type action thrillers that are a great fast paced read. The background message is a real one we all need to be aware of. Cyber terrorism and the possibility of someone crashing our electrical grid is very real.
This author just keeps finding new, terrible dangers to write about that are quite possible & worrisome. His books will grab you by the seat of your pants & not let go.
