Welcome to Los Demonios—where the night is alive, the rules are dead, and rookie cop Jim Delaney is about to learn that desire and death can be dangerously interlinked. LAPD Officer Jim Delaney thought his biggest challenge would be staying tanned and chasing crooks along the beaches of Malibu. But when he’s reassigned—thanks to a questionable PR initiative—he’s dropped into the shadowy depths of Los Demonios, a city beneath Los Angeles teeming with supernatural vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts, and ghouls – creatures who see humans as food – or playthings. His allies in LDPD? Not they also crave human flesh and blood. His survival odds? Not good. He’s human and therefore expendable. But the real threat to the rookie human cop may not be the supernatural creatures—it’s the temptations. A brilliant human hematologist he can’t get out of his mind. Is she after him or his blood? A ghost who craves a physical form—and him. A vampire partner’s daughter, forever trapped in a body of forbidden youth. Even the dangerous allure of a werewolf biker queen. As the lines blur between duty and desire, Jim must fight to keep his morals—and his head—intact. Can a man with a badge resist the darkness… when part of him craves it? Dive into Book One of the Los Demonios series—a bold blend of supernatural suspense, raw passion, and gritty noir. Welcome to the other side of justice.

I always have a ton of respect for authors who self-publish, and this concept grabbed me instantly. I mean, an entire underworld beneath Los Angeles, and the law enforcement trying to keep it under control!? The world-building has so much potential.
Where I struggled was with the execution, mostly around the female characters. Their dialogue felt flat and often unrealistic; every woman making flirty or forward “jokes” to men they barely know just took me out of the story because… no, we don’t talk like that.
That said, the authors clearly have something interesting here. For what they were aiming to do, it worked, and I genuinely hope they keep going.
