The young orphan girl Dorothy Gale and her faithful friend, her dog, Toto, are caught in a cyclone which transports them from their home in Kansas to Munchkin Country, in the mystical land of Oz. There Dorothy learns that there is only one person who can help her get back home—the Wizard of Oz, the mysterious magician who lives in the fabled Emerald City. Join Dorothy, as she travels through the Yellow Brick Road, which links Munchkin Country to Emerald City, and meets new friends—the Scarecrow, who wants brains for himself; the rusty Tin Woodman, who is looking for a heart and the cowardly Lion, who is in search of courage. Together, the friends face many adventures, Wicked Witches, Flying Monkeys and of course, the never-to-be-seen Wizard of Oz. Will Dorothy ever find her way back home to Kansas?
I think I'm one of the few people who hasn't watched the wizard of oz movie or read the book before so I started reading this with no clue on how this story will go. I enjoyed it of course but it was still a children's book and I thought some parts were silly & cheesy.
