Lilah Owning a spicy romance bookstore was supposed to come with feral readers and a meet-cute or two. Not a billionaire in a three-piece suit trying to bulldoze my business.
Lincoln Hanover is everything that's wrong with the world. He's hot, bossy, and far too rich for his own good. He thinks he can annoy me out of business. I think he can shove his checkbook where the sun doesn't shine.
I've read every billionaire romance there is. I know how to fight fire with fire.
Lincoln will rue the day. Or I will. Either way, one of us is going down.
Lincoln Modernizing downtown Santa Maria would be simple if people stopped getting in my way. I have a job to do, and that's all I'm worried about.
Until Lilah Davis threatens to chain herself to her bookstore to keep me out.
I'd love to see her chained up, all right. Preferably in my bed. Wearing my ring.
She thinks I'm the villain. She's probably right.
But what started as a property feud is now about something far more me and her. And I don't lose.
About the Series Good girls need spicy books. At least, that's the philosophy at this small-town bookstore. But the group of bookish friends who call the store home never planned for the feral men willing to fall at their feet...or for the lengths they'd go to secure their own happily-ever-afters.
Now, they're up to their elbows, in over their heads, and the only experience they have with navigating love comes from the books they read.
What could possibly go wrong?

This one was funny and fast paced! Lilah is moving and being independent she has a loving family and her dream job with amazing friends enter Lincoln the guy who wants to buy her building and in love but since he wants to buy her building hes public enemy number #1. So that's the obstacle between them it has them or Lil being on the fench for abit. I'll be honest she did annoy me with her I dont wanna ask for help. 😒
No ow/om drama, no cheating, sexy times, no mentions of virgins?

This was an absolutely fantastic enemies to lovers romance. It was a really well written story that just had me completely hooked from the very first page. I loved that apart from the wonderful love story this was a story promoting the entire romance genre, I loved when characters in books are romance readers themselves it just makes everything so much more relatable to me. Lincoln and Lilah had such a great meet cute and I loved her sass. Their chemistry was amazing and I didn’t put the book down once because I couldn’t get enough of the two of them together.
Holy heck I loved this story😂 Lilah has a romance bookstore that she loves dearly. But everything changes when Lincoln Hanover stomps into her store to give her a 30days notice- buy the building or he will and than she would loose her bookstore. Lincoln saw Lilah and his whole life changed. He knew she would be his no matter what, but what happens with the building and the plans he had for the street and the people he employed?? An awesome enemy to lovers story, with great and funny banter, awesome side characters(they get their own books in the series), sweet, steamy, romantic and totally safe with an awesome HEA 😍😍😍😍😍
The way this book had my laughing from the very beginning! Lilah and Lincoln are absolutely loveable. Their banter and tension leads to such good spice! They are also surrounded by such amazing side characters. I downed this book faster than the ladies at book club down their wine!! Another absolute winner from Nichole Rose!!!
SAFETY remarks - SAFE: yes - h virgin / H seems he’s celibate - I think. - cheating/sharing: no - ow/om: no - separation/breakups: no - possible triggers: no - HEA: yes
At some point I kinda doubted Lilah was a virgin; maybe because she doesn’t mention it and because she had no pain or discomfort their first time. Idk. And for him, he mentions that he hasn’t had a kiss in a long time but also doesn’t mention anything about being a virgin. So, it’s up for interpretation.
He says that she is not afraid to call him out and confront him. That most people wouldn’t dare. But you don’t get to see him in a different atmosphere to say he is a grumpy, rude guy. He is presented as the nicest.
It is a pretty simple story. I would’ve liked her to be stronger and not give in to him so easily. She liked him, even though he was taking her building away. She was practically gonna give it up!! She slept with him early on and didn’t want to talk about the building. I wish she gave him a little more hell and made him work for her and demonstrate what he really was made of and wanted for her. His priorities. He could’ve seduced her to get the building, but that didn’t cross her mind, and if it did, it got buried quick.
I think she is a 2nd generation baby of previous series book. I didn’t look for it but her dad’s name was familiar.
The friends are pretty cool. I love their interactions and how they have each other’s backs. How much fun they have together. I might continue to the next one in the series.
The building problem was solved beautifully. Lincoln is the best.
Epilogue: married with a daughter and one on the way.
Nichole Rose does it again!! Lincoln and Lilah’s story is the first book of a new series, The Book of Love series, and it is hilarious, charming, and witty. Lincoln was raised by a single mom and pulled himself up to success as a real estate developer and got brought into Santa Maria to revitalize the downtown area. Just a few months prior to his arrival, Lilah rented a storefront and set up her bookstore. Despite being raised the daughter of a billionaire, Lilah is independent and determined to stand on her own, rather than rely on anyone else to carry her and her dreams. Of course, this means they instantly clash regarding the building her bookstore is currently in.
The mischief Lilah and her best friend Jazz get up to just add to the interactions between Lilah and Lincoln. I love the threat of a chase scene in real life, just to run Lincoln out of the store. And Lilah’s description of being haunted is just to die for! I laughed so hard, it’s just to well written! Plus, as a bonus, with any second-generation book by Nichole, she reintroduces several characters from other series, which is always great to see those characters again. I strongly recommend this book, as it’s a great read to entertain you with the heat and spark you’re used to from a Nichole Rose story.
I normally love her books, but the heroine just made me so mad. Take the stupid money. She could have focused afterwards on charity initiatives or making sure her employees had a living wage/healthcare or sponsored little free libraries across the city or done a thousand other more useful things if she was so worried about the optics of her taking money from her parents. Instead she spent 3/4s of the book refusing to ask for help so she could be a martyr for frankly naive principles. She could feel weird about asking for money all she likes, but it would have done no good to shut the store down over her pride. She helps no one that way. I was so excited for this one too, I think the whole "problem" being ridiculous just sent me over the top. I know that was part of the character development and I'm being harsh, but I just found her concerns so tone deaf I wanted to throw my phone across the room. I would much rather have a romance bookstore in my town than some mascot for her version of female empowerment.

This is book number 1 of the Book of Love series and focuses on Lincoln and Lilah. Lilah is one of Grant and Lily’s (His Blushing Bride) daughters. She is a former librarian who had a dream to open her own bookstore. When the perfect location becomes available close to her sister in Santa Maria, she jumps at the chance. She had built up a great business after a few months but she hits a snag when she discovers that her building is being sold to a developer. When Lincoln comes to her bookstore to deliver the news, he doesn’t expect Lilah and the connection he feels to her. Lincoln and Lilah bicker and duel like the best of them while building a connection that can handle any storm. I loved how Lincoln redesigned the vision for the project and how he helped Lilah continue to build her business. This was a great story and a great start to the series.

Lincoln and Lilah's story is a hilarious,small-town, spicy, rom-com and it's the perfect way to kick off the new Book of Love series. Lincoln and Lilah's story is cute from their laugh out loud meet-cute during Lilah and her friends impromptu dance party for women's intimate toys. Lincoln falls for Lilah instantly but he's there to buy her dream building in order to revitalize downtown Santa Maria so Lilah refers to him as Satan in a 3 piece suit. Their banter is hilarious especially when Lilah chases Lincoln out of the bookstore with thirsty customers. However Lilah struggles with the fact that she's attracted to Lincoln the man who wants to buy her building and the other Lincoln the side he only shows to her. Will Lincoln break Lilah's heart by taking her building or will he figure out another way to get what he needs and the girl? You really need to read this hilarious, small-town, spicy, rom-com to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this hilarious series. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nichole is one of my favorite authors. She knows how to write the story to keep me interested all the way through it. Whether it’s a little drama, a serious conversation or some funny moments..I love them all! This book was no different. We met Lilah’s parents, Grant and Lily in His Blushing Bride..so it’s exciting to see one of the second generation get their story. Lilah is a true cross between her mom and dad..she’s sweet and when she loves..it’s forever like her momma but she’s independent and hard headed like her dad. Lincoln and Lilah meet when he comes into her bookstore because he’s planning on buying the building and wants to let her know. She gives him sass and basically runs him off. He doesn’t give up trying to talk to her though. He finally gets her to agree to a date..but she wonders if he really likes her or if he’s trying to manipulate her. Will Lilah get her happily ever after? Will Lincoln prove he’s actually a good guy with a hard decision to make? 5 ⭐️ 3 🌶️
I love Nichole Rose’s second generation stories. This is Lilah Grant’s story. I love Lilah, she is so fiercely independent, she appreciates everything her father and mother gave her, but she is determined to do things her own way. She loves her book story and it is starting to make a profit, and life is good. That is until Lincoln Hanover walks into her store and informs her that he is going to buy the building. Enemies, instantly!! But, are they really enemies, especially when they cannot stop thinking about each other. Can Lilah trust Lincoln with her battered heart, can Lincoln win Lilah without her thinking he has other motives. The banter in War of Words is so good, and the story is sweet, and the spice, well the spice is pure Nichole Rose perfect! Watch for some of your favourite Nichole Rose characters to make appearances. Love this book!
After finding the perfect location Lilah has achieved her dream of opening a bookstore and has big plans to make it a success. Those plans are in jeopardy when Lincoln plans to purchase the property so that he can complete the development plans he has for the downtown area. What she doesn’t need is to develop feelings for the man who wants her building.
When Lincoln comes to tell Lilah that he has tendered an offer to purchase the building he wasn’t expecting her to be happy about it but he wasn’t prepared for her feisty personality. The more time he spends with her the more he wonders if the land acquisition is worth losing the woman he has come to love.
Rather than being infuriated by Lilah’s fiery personality it only makes him want her more as he realizes what truly matters as a future without Lilah is no future at all.
Perfect. I absolutely love Nichole's characters. Lilah was strong and sassy. She was independent and fierce. Lincoln did not know what he was up against. But she also has a sweetness to her. Lincoln was awesome too. He may have been viewed as the devil, but that is only if you don't understand his heart on why he's rebuilding there. The attraction was palpable and changed the course of their lives. Neither one could fight it or each other over the building. What's a building when true love is at stake? I laughed so much. I even had tears at one point. Nichole always delivers all the feels and you end up rooting for her couples. And true love always wins.

*War of Words* is the first book in the delightful new series, *Book of Love*! I found myself laughing out loud at Lilah and Lincoln from the moment Lincoln stumbled upon Lilah and her friends enjoying a dance party in the bookstore. Little did he know the fun and chaos he was stepping into when he instantly fell for Lilah! Nichole has this incredible talent for pulling you into her beautifully crafted world—it’s such a joy to get lost in! You won’t want the stories to end, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. The characters are simply wonderful, funny, and packed with just the right amount of spice!

This was an hilarious start to a new series, with the perfect enemies to lovers trope. This one really made me feel Lilah’s emotions and how she was stuck between falling in love and potentially being devastated. I really wasn’t sure how he would be able to redeem himself, but Lincoln sure did put in the work! The banter was funny, the side characters were great, and the premise of the bookstore was perfection! Loved seeing all the Goodson’s and second generation Davis’s as well. No cheating or OM/OW drama, unsure of both their history’s which I think is a first for me with this author, age gap, dual POV, HEA and a cute and funny epilogue 3 years in the future. I cannot wait for Jasmine’s book, that girl is a menace and a riot all wrapped up in one very loyal package!
Absolutely top notch from Nichole. Lilah and Lincoln were the perfect couple for this. And seeing characters from past books was an added bonus as always.

I was looking forward to this one, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to! The heroine owns a bookstore and the hero comes and tries to buy the building. They don't like each other, but they're attracted to each other from the get-go. Things work out in the end, of course. This was a relatively quick read, lots of spice, and several laugh out loud moments. 3/5.

Lilah has built her dreams into the Book of Love spicy bookstore. Enter a hot man that dreams of made of until he makes the mistake of threatening her dream. Will Lincoln choose Lilah’s building or building a future with her? This was such a fun read with Lilah and her book buddies shenanigans. The tension between Lincoln and Lilah was sparking the entire story. I love this author’s stories as they make you feel a part of the story. Great start to this new series. Can’t wait for more! I received an advanced copy of this book and this is a voluntary review.

The moment Lincoln spots Lilah dancing in her bookstore, he knows he is in trouble because this smart-mouthed book shop owner is the woman of his dreams. Too bad her store is in the middle of his town redevelopment plans. Lilah takes on look at Lincoln and knows he is all her bad boy book boyfriend dreams come to life unfortunately he wants to put her out of business and she won’t let that happen. Loved this hilarious tale full of fun banter and funnier situations.
I know first hand the huge difference a book store makes in people’s lives. This book was about just that. This book store meant everything to the h, she earned and put it together on her own. Then the big bad wolf H comes along and tries to take it from her. In the end it all works out and we end up reading about love blossoming. Bonus points for the besties. 👯
I picked this up randomly at 2 in the morning and didn’t put it down till around 3:30am. So I guess you could say that this is a VERY addicting read, and if you’re anything like me you won’t be able to put it down. The love hate thing these two had going on was so hot, and will keep you on your toes. I laughed, I swooned, and cried. Such an electric couple, and the perfect introduction int more characters getting their HEAS in the future.
I absolutely LOVED it!!!! Lilah & Lincoln had me hooked from their first interaction!! The banter & the smexy chemistry you could feel coming off the pages had me cracking up and panting at the same time lol I love how they healed and helped each other! Again the smexy times between them were sooo🔥🔥🥵🥵!!! I loved the side characters and just everything about this story!!! Looking forward to the next one already!! Highly highly recommend this wonderful book!!!!!
I love the starts to new series and this one by Nichole Rose is no exception. This is the first book in the new series entitled The Book of Love series!!!
Lilah sets up a new bookstore in downtown and Lincoln has been brought in to revitalize the downtown area. Clashes, funny things, and exchanges happen. In the course of that though they can't help the connection that they feel for each other as they fight it. The ending is fantastic!
Oh boy, the fiery banter between Lilah and Lincoln was so good! As a romance book lover myself, I loved that the setting was within a bookstore itself, and it is one spicy bookstore indeed!
This book was such a fun read, and I enjoyed how their love story progressed. It helps too that Lilah has an amazing best friend who totally kicks a$$!
I can’t wait to see the rest of the girls fall in love too.
A funny rom com that made me giggle with Lilah and her friends antics. Lilah was a little bit of a hot sassy mess and controlled stoic Lincoln was not prepared for her. A fun read that I couldn't get enough of. I loved all the characters especially Lilah 's best friend Jazz. Another 5 star read from Nichole Rose. Another series I can't wait to read more of. 5 stars!!
