From an already accomplished writer, comes an engaging, sexy, and suspenseful new series about two sisters who thought they were ordinary, until they discovered they were not.
Dane sparks runs a bistro and her best friend Trevor is the pseudo-chef who has tried every imaginable way to kill himself, but oddly, never succeeds.
Gemma is a free spirited woman after Dane's own heart, and ironically the only one she can't have.
Dane's sister Penny ran off 10 years ago and left her to deal with Nana, a decidedly unlovable human being. Beatrice Sparks was bitchy, controlling, and critical and seemed to be missing the compassion and sensitivity gene. Dane had even seen her kick a dog once. No telling how many other dogs she kicked privately. Nor how many kittens she drowned.
Freed of Nana's energy sucking ways, Penny made a life for herself as a chef in Portland; the charming Simon, a fixture in her life; but she can't commit to a man who keeps so many secrets.
When one event launches a mystery too bizarre to believe, believe it they must, if the two sisters are to survive what's coming.
New Harbor isn't the sleepy coastal town they always thought, and the estranged siblings are part of something bigger than they ever knew existed. For Dane and Penny, there's an awful lot to learn.
"To me, failing to learn to use the tools one’s craft shows laziness and disrespect for the reader. There are, however, no issues of that sort where Baeli’s writing is concerned. It’s rare to these days to find a writer whose style is technically so nearly perfect, but who’s also a damned good storyteller. I doubt if she is even capable of writing poorly." ~W. Spice
Even after 36 novels, I always try to write the sort of book I would want to read. My favorite thing to do is take a common trope and turn it on its ear. Where you expect a zig, I give you a zag. In my pages, you will find strong female characters, ethical dilemmas, and realistic storylines often filled with adventure and intense pacing, tempered by witty dialog, and happy endings. All are hallmarks of my work.
As a Bestselling Genre-Hopping Indie Author, I’ve enjoyed a sales position in the top 5% of lesbian writers, but I write crossover and mainstream fiction and have authored 26 nonfiction books, as well. All 36 of my FemFic novels have been bestsellers in the genres of domestic suspense, domestic thriller, women's adventure, romantic suspense, apocalyptic, speculative, lesfic, lesbian romance, and science fiction. I’m also a mixed-media artist (mostly clay and abstract painting) and former performing singer-songwriter with over 200 songs.
My wife, Melissa Walker-Baeli, is a budding author in her own right, and we have several co-writing projects coming soon. We live with two dogs, (Noodle and Whatnot) and two cats, (Poppet and Chicklet) on ten acres in the gorgeous Northwoods of Michigan.
Mmmm....I am not sure what to say. I don't normally read books with a witch storyline. I have to confess I was kinda lost and wondering through this whole book. Did I miss something. The love interested of both Dane and Penney seem to easy and when I thought the worst about one character...😮<
SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: butch character, not a romance, non-human character, out of your comfort zone, UNICORN: twins, more than 2 POVs, character way over 50 (possibly other categories)
As to be expected, like a few of Baeli's books that I've read, the story was witty, exciting, and enjoyable. There was possibly even a quote by Batty Koda, which was an awesome easter egg! There was an ensemble of characters, with the MCs consisting of two sisters in relationships with a fraternal twin brother and sister. It was a good vs evil, family and town history story, with great characters, blended with witchcraft.
Creative! Unique! Witty! Twists and turns! I’m telling you; this book will tweak your interest and bend your mind. And just read the License Notes too. If that doesn’t make you laugh and want to read the book, I’ll be genuinely surprised.
I really want to delve into parts of the story that had me spellbound—ah, I had to say it—but you know I never give spoilers. Baeli develops stories and characters that grab your interest and take your mind on an adventure. Trust me, you will want to take this one. Just sayin’! This was so much fun to read!

Most Helpful Customer Reviews 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful New Harbor Witches - A delightful departure from a typical witch story By cathie1245 on January 6, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Another book about witches? Ok sure, it's been done before - by lots of authors - but not like this! Two sisters are propelled into the secret world of witches when their Nana dies. That's when inexplicable things begin to mysteriously happen. What they at first write off as odd experiences and coincidences become the prelude to finding out just how powerful, and important, they are. The supporting cast is fantastic, the writing is polished, and the plot is unexpected in delightful ways. Add in a few sexy scenes for good measure and you've got a fun little story. Geez, here's another series I'm addicted to by this author! If you haven't checked out her other books already, there's plenty of great writing to explore.
A Well-Crafted Paranormal Mystery/Romance By GLS on January 7, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Paranormal Mystery/Romance is a genre that I've read a lot of books in. What I feel really sets this book apart is the development of all of the characters. Instead of the traditional hero/ingénue model, the plot revolves around a pair of sisters, their love interests, and their extended family. The additional well rounded characters make the book much more enjoyable.
Along with the well-developed characters, the premise is well thought out and logically self-consistent. The initial book provides a good introduction to the practice of magic, the limits of magic, and introduces the conflict that the series will revolve around.
Finally, the book has tightly crafted romantic story lines for each sister (one straight, one lesbian). I'm looking forward to seeing how the author develops each sister's romance.
In summary, this is a very nicely written book that contains an outstanding mixture of magic, romance, mystery, and humor along with some well-crafted plot twists. I'm really looking forward to reading the continuation of this series.
An intelligent, well written story By Deborah E. Ehling on January 21, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase In a refreshing departure from many "paranormal romances", this book is truly well written. There is romance with adult themes and emotions. There is clever magic. There is a sense of "framily" that adds to the story buffet:) And chocolate! While we only get a hint in this book of why there are evil witches and some questions are left unanswered (can't say which questions because it will give too much away) this book is a combination of a page turning mystery combined with the melding of people that you want to cheer for. Treat yourself and read this book! And no, I've never met the author, although her bio makes her sound like someone I'd love to hang out with:)
Unique and engaging By Deanne Kearns on January 9, 2015 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Kelli Jae Baeli has taken us on a journey into witchcraft that is unique and engaging. The sisters' extended family are all imagined in great detail. Jae's voice shines through in the flow of her writing and her ability to bring her characters to life. This is one of the things I love so much about Jae's writing; her characters are not cardboard cutouts and she doesn't rely on formula to tell a story. I'm looking forward to more of the Harbor Witches story. Thanks for another great read!

This is a fantastic take on witch craft. Mind reading, moving objects, form changing all the classics and a few new ones. Fun story from history to today. Oh and really cool cars.
