This book was really good. I feel like most people, whether married or engaged or dating, will find it helpful in better understanding each other. I've always been intrigued with Gary Chapman's Five Love Languages and feel like they are spot on. Very good read!

Read the original book instead.

This was a kindle freebie; I'm glad I didn't pay for it, as I would've been disappointed. Each day's reading literally takes one minute or less. The idea of the five love languages is excellent; my complaint is that it isn't organized well. Instead of presenting each love language in order, there's a bit of padding in between to stretch it to 30 days, and so it seems very disjointed. I wouldn't recommend reading it if you haven't read the original. It works well as a refresher for someone who read the book a while ago and is familiar with the terms. Even so, I think I'd rather re-read or skim the original book if I need a refresher.

I need to read the original Love Languages book again. It has been a while. This book is just a little taste, or it would make a good companion book or reminder if you have read the original. I liked it very much. It is well written and make you think about your priorities and about your spouse and their love language.

“When we are affirmed, we aspire to be better. When we are ignored or condemned, we either become discouraged and withdraw, or become angry and hostile.” (location 120)

“Discover your spouse's primary love language, and speak it at least once a week for six months, no matter how you are treated in return.” (location 525)

No prompt for my Ultimate Popsugar Reading Challenge . Now you know why I have to count books for more than one prompt. Otherwise I would either never finish the challenge or never get to read anything but books that fit the prompts.

Great companion to Five Love Languages by the same author

The first 25 chapters of this book were rather repetitive for me, be ause I'd read the 5 love languages several years ago. I almost didn't finish the book. So glad GOD put it in my heart to finish, because parts of each of tnose last chapters really hit me close to home. Childrearing was tough because we blended families of four and two children, aged from 17 down to 4. Tough to change parenting tactics that had worked for years? You betcha! Hard to bring both parents onto the same page? Sometimes nigh on impossible! Finances were never a problem; but keeping the love cups full was, especially when there was simmering resentment over a lack of apologies, too many days without speaking due to differences of opinion on many issues, or even something as silly as putting clothes in a hamper. We are finally getting some of those issues ironed out now, but itbhas taken GOD more than a quarter of a century to do it

Not a bad little devotional. If you've already read the actual love languages book, there isn't really anything new here, but it had some good reminders. I would have liked each day's reading to be longer and go more in depth, but I guess it's intended for people who don't have or want to spend much time.

Even though I've been married 26yrs, this is an excellent devotional to strengthen my relationship with my husband. I'm using the principles taught here by Gary Chapman in my everyday life with my spouse. I highly recommend this to couples anywhere from newlyweds to those who have been married for a long time. This is a good, solid, practical Biblical based devotional!

I enjoyed this after reading the Five Love Languages. The daily readings cemented the concepts in the original book, but I wish they were longer than a page. I've already purchased volume two of this devotional and will read it in the coming months.

I swear this was written for my marriage

Each day there is a story along with scripture that feels very personal. My husband and I read the book but I decided to continue my personal growth with the devotional. Many days I would go home and share the devotional passage with my spouse and we would have really good conversations as a result. I highly recommend!!

Nice devotion, needs prior knowledge though

This is a nice devotion to help marriages thrive. What a person needs first is to have read "The Five Love Languages". This provides the framework to help apply the principles in this devotion. I especially like the prayers for each day as a guideline for that day's action.

A Challenging and Thought Provoking Devotional

Once again Dr. Chapman has laid bare the need to be selfless in marriage and the work that is required. He asks hard questions, but also gives usable ideas to get you started. An excellent devotional!
