This Tom and Jerry picture book might look and feel like a regular book, but Jerry thinks it's a piece of cheese! Can Tom the Cat (and the reader) stop him from eating it? Who knows what will happen if young readers give this funny, interactive book a taste. Full of laughs and surprises with Tom and Jerry.
Great to see these two old friends again. I can remember really liking them as a kid; they always seemed to be able to work out their problems before the cartoon ended. This would be a great gift for someone who grew up watching T&J - but it would also be a great book to introduce the to someone for the first time.
Plot It is a children's book. Tom is eating all the cheese. Jerry is tying to stop Tom from eat the cheese.
Personal Response The questions are what's your favorite charter? Tom, because he eats the cheese up. What did you not like about the book? Cheese doesn't smell and the book didn't either. What did you like about the book? Jerry let out a big BURP!!!
I recommend this to 5 year olds boy and girls. This book is based on a cartoon and kid like cartoons.
How could I not love sharing some Tom and Jerry hijinks with a new generation? Fun because of the audience acknowledgement and loud BUUUUUUURP at the end. Read for kindergarten storytime as an intro to the library.
My daughter is extremely generous with her star ratings, willing to give every book she reads five stars. So, please don't tell her I reduced her star rating from five to two for this one.
She loves Tom and Jerry, she loves reading. It seems like these are two great tastes that should taste great together.
Until they aren't.
It's a fairly simple premise -- Tom doesn't want Jerry eating the book made of cheese, Jerry is having none of it. It sustains itself fairly well for the ten or twelve-page running time, but it isn't a great book nor is it one that I feel will drop into our rotation of things we want or need to re-read together.
We are so proud of you for reading "This Book Is Not a Piece of Cheese!" by Benjamin Bird! You learned that using your imagination can make ordinary things extraordinary. Remember how the characters saw the book in fun, creative ways? You can use this idea in your life by letting your imagination run wild, turning everyday moments into exciting adventures, and always finding joy in the world around you.
Recorrendo à receita que empregou noutro livro, o autor cria um livro que promove a interacção entre o leitor e as personagens. Engraçado dá oportunidade ao adulto que o leia de explorar a parte cómica da obra.
This story feels like someone trying to make a quick buck off of a tv cartoon. The entire story Tom is trying to convince Jerry that the book is not cheese. The illustrations are slightly amusing, but they cannot make up for a lack of story. When my son read it he asked, “What’s the point of the story?” Very young students may like it, but I found it to be rather disappointing.
Enjoyed the artwork, it was true to the cartoon characters from the original series. Tom's expressions were especially good. That was the only thing I liked about this book. Apparently no one producing the series understands that one of the outstanding qualities of these characters is that they don't talk. Giving them dialogue ruins the book for me. And just to make it a little disgusting, they lamely use a burp as the "punchline" to the story. I realize kids laugh at bodily functions but this seems like a too easy solution used in place of actual plot.
