Love, Like There's No Tomorrow

Today is Tuesday, October 14th, 2025. Yesterday was Tuesday, October 14th, 2025. Tomorrow will be Tuesday, October 14th, 2025. For 30 year old Cillian, this is a day he has lived many times, and will continue to live for the remainder of eternity. Time has stopped, permanently. Everyone and everything is frozen in place, just as they were at exactly 8:45 a.m. on that first fateful Tuesday, except him. At first, this unexplainable phenomenon is a gift of freedom. He can sneak into any movie theater, use people as human bowling pins, even parachute off the C.N. Tower, and nothing will stop him. However, he starts to realize all these wonderful experiences mean nothing if there's no one to share them with. Just as the unending isolation is about to take its toll, there's a knock at the door.

Cynthia has been stuck outside of time since the start, just like Cillian. Unlike Cillian, she is less than thrilled to discover she now shares the planet with someone else. While their relationship starts off a little rocky - Cynthia sticking a shotgun in Cillian's face - the pair discover just how easy it is to fall in love when nothing ever happens and nothing ever matters. Limitless trips around the world, breaking into Area 51, and strapping serial killers to rockets are just some of the shenanigans they get up to with the rest of forever at their disposal. All the while, a simple question hangs over their How does it all end? When does it all end? There is a limit to love and time always finds it. Love, Like There's No Tomorrow is a heart-warming apocalyptic tale filled with adventure, dark comedy, and a truly timeless romance.

Love, Like There's No Tomorrow asks the question: what happens to love when you have infinite time?

Author Christopher Compton answers with equal parts humour and heartbreak. There were moments in his story that were laugh out loud funny (Christopher has a dark sense of humour that I really enjoyed) and other moments that were a realistic depiction of loneliness and hopelessness.

You can tell Christopher is a millennial and so are his characters. The story focuses on Cillian, who just lost his father before the apocalypse happens. He spends years alone slowly descending into madness (and creating alter-personas to talk to - Wild Child is my favourite). The other character is Cynthia, a foul mouthed pessimist who wants nothing to do with him at first. It's pretty much love at first sight for Cillian, but Cynthia takes a lot longer to warm up to the only other person on the planet.

They crash into each again and again over the course of centuries, doing increasingly crazier stunts just to feel alive. Through it all - there is love but always the question lingers: Is it enough?

The ending was bittersweet but I didn't leave the book thinking there was anything missing. Christopher has a unique voice and I have enjoyed both of his stories and look forward to his next project.

If you’ve ever wished for eternal life, and someone to share it with.. Author Christopher Compton has written a book on why that would be the best, and worst thing you could wish for in this post-apocalyptic story.

The story follows Cillian, a guy who is finding it difficult to be on his own without the help of alcohol. Until he meets Cynthia, the rebel without a cause, who turns Cillian into a love struck pup with true golden retriever energy.
Maybe it’s because they’re the last two people on the planet and kinda have to make it work, but they fit so well while being so vastly different!

I loved watching these two share time together (centuries!!!), but what if there was such thing as too much time.
