Where do I start? Ok so, if I am being perfectly honest, my attention is waning.
I realize the author is trying to introduce us to the ladies on Navuh's Island, but I am over the Tula and the other one. I understand the desperation. However, they were cool being pampered in thier gilded cage.
Its baffling to me that they been with Areana 5 thousand years, she lost not one but 2 sons to Navuh's Army just like them. They act like her friends but were so quick to turn on her.
Esag- so it looks like the fates are pushing him to Tula. This feels like Julian's story! Esag being a dream walker of sorts and then feeling an "urge" to be on the rescue mission. Should be interesting considering she can't stand him and that she is Wonda's sister.
Navuh - i think he is realizing it may be time to walk away from the monsters he created. This book showed a softer side of him and the way his mind worked. He really cares about Areana.
Areana - sister has the patience of a saint because I would have cussed Tula out! I was so glad when she finally spoke up for herself and let her know just how selfish she was being.
Wonder - i'm halfway we in Annani to let her have it. She has avoided a relationship with anani this entire time and is now making all these demands of her. With no consideration of the loss or the damage, it would cost Annani or her sister.
Edgar - i had almost forgotten about him, and can I say I like this chick even less now. That entire batch is entitled and rotten.
Drova was the real MVP. Her read list: organized by heat level and trope." Had me tickled!
Contemporary versus paranormal. Sweet versus steamy. Enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, second-chance romance, arranged marriage—though I don't really understand why arranged marriages are considered romantic when they're literally just business and diplomatic contracts."
Arezoo & Ruvon - one would want to say you're bored with this couple, but you can't because you have to consider her age. So the pacin is age-appropriate. Although I don't think Ella was much older. Nor Jaxson and his crew and we enjoyed that series without it being creepy, because it was not age focus.
But yeah, this was a lil on the annoying and boring side for me.
Ok here is my problem with this series. Tamera and Elias are stuck. This book is called Dark island rescue but no rescue just disappointment. I’m so disappointed for so many different reason. I feel bad for Elias and I wanted him and Tamera in the rescue which didn’t happen. This book should have been called dark island plot instead. Nuvah is an idiot that will lose his island all because he is greedy and a cheapskate. Good for his ass, but that just makes me worry about everyone else. Elias and Tamera story had no conclusion and I was waiting on this book thinking I will get it but just got disappointed instead. I see where the next story is going and now I’m just mad. Happy for Esag but…….I should have given three stars but I love yours books.
Each book is compelling reading. The depth of character development gives each character separate personalities and context. I really appreciate how Lucas brought back a so-called minor character from a while ago, gave him a love interest and brought in a new immortal.
She maintains several story threads concurrent to the main plotline, which adds depth and a realism to her writing. Realism in a fantasy novel. Isn't that an oxymoron? Yet true. I keep coming back to this sense of realism as I read these books. Even while I don't accept the possibility of extraterrestrial life, Lucas' writing suspends this disbelief with the basic concept of immortals and godlike beings.
The tender love story between Ruvon and ... (her name just flew away from me), the anguish Tula feels, and the tightrope Areana walks in her relationship with Navuh brought tears to my eyes several times.
The more Lucas writes, the better she gets. The earlier stories were almost repetitive with the boy-meets-girl or girl-meets-boy formula of instantly falling in love, sex, and more sex, the mortal transitions; new story. It's refreshing to not have sex in this book. I am older, and old fashioned, and prefer suggestion and closed doors to explicit scenes.
So, in the last book we were left with the 4 Escapee’s getting caught by Ariana, and Ariana promising another/better way to escape. This will involve an arraignment with the Clan, and fast because Tula is pregnant and will start to show soon. When Kian gets the task, he quickly realizes that extracting 4 people is impossible, but Tula can be rescued. So, Kian contacts Turner and the others to plan the rescue. Meanwhile, Ariana talks to Ananni and they both realize it can only be Tula. Tula takes this a little hard because she doesn’t want leave anyone behind. But she realizes this mission is going to be risky. Tula feels a lot of guilt about leaving the others behind, especially Tony since he’s the father of her baby. Back at the clan, Esag, is having visions of Tula that are pushing him to believe that he needs to be there for the rescue specifically for Tula. He tells Kian about these visions, but Kian is not impressed and tells him that he can go, but he has to stay in the submarine where it’s safe. Kian says the plans are made and can’t be changed. I am so excited about the next book, to see how this rescue plays out!

This was stretched horribly for word count. It was ridiculous. I completely understand the emotional stress Tula was under with everything that was going on, but the yo-yoing between sanity, doom and gloom EVERY time her POV came around was ridiculous. It was so extensive that it rolled into Esau’s POV as well. 😐 Just too much of saying the same things and thinking the same thoughts.
What was ridiculous though was that throughout all of this, no one thought to speak about Elias’ ability to the clan. Not one soul. Not even in Esau’s visions/comms with Tula did it come up. It was a bit much to take, so frustrating.
Anyway, at some point I must read Elias’ origin story and come back to read these excerpts. See my notes, highlights and commentary on Goodreads. Happy reading!
I'm so frustrated. It's one long book about planning with a very small update about Edgar and Angelica that was completely glossed over. These are supposed to be paranormal romance and there was very little romance if any in this book. I love this world and most of the characters, but I'm so tired of the doom and gloom. I don't like reading about Navuh and his super soldiers or really about the island at all. It's depressing to know that they are all doomed to a life of captivity. Reading about Navuh and Areanna's romance makes me angry. She is a possession just as much as the other ladies. I do not believe he is capable of love. I loves this series and I will keep reading because I am 101 books in at this point, but each one seems to be more disappointing than the last
Areana has promised a way off the island for Eluheed, Tamira, Tony, and Tulah. With Tulah's pregnancy, any rescue is urgent as she is already showing a little. But will the clan be able to get all four out or only Tulah? Areana may have promised more than Annani and Kian can deliver. Navuh's enhanced soldiers project is becoming more dangerous but Eluheed's warning may be falling on deaf ears and putting the whole island at risk. The club's new island, Safe Harbor, is only about100 miles from Navuh's island and is being readied for use. A lot is going on in this book and lots of questions yet to be answered. I can't wait for the next one.
Absolutely the very best of kindle unlimited and one of my favorite series overall. You get a quick read at least once a month that starts out as a spicy and fun romantasy turns into a complex series of surprising twists and turns that always leaves you so mad that you’ve reached the ending! This one especially.
My only complaint is that we’ve lost some of the heat level after over 100 books. I’d love to get a spicy scene with a past couple in these and that’s the only thing missing in this series imo.
This one has us gearing up for something major, you can just feel it building and I absolutely cannot wait!
A gift of a follow up story, to the 100 books before!
Reading these last few chapters in Dark Island Rescue, one can’t help but truly feel the anguish, heartbreak & guilt that both Tula & Areana feel at the situation they find themselves in. Such great story telling, all the way through!
It is just such a gift to be able to follow the extensive lives of all the beings I.T.Lucas has created over the years! Plus a blessing to her readers…that she continues sharing these complex, amazing, multi faceted characters with us to such an extent. Please don’t stop!🙏
Will Tula, Tamira, Tony and Elias be able to get off the island? Will the clan find a way to get them off the island? Esag starts having visions of Tula which he shares with Annani and Wonder. Will these visions help with the rescue? Esag feels in his gut he needs to be there for the rescue. What could this mean? With this book I have found that I have so many questions and feel that there is something that will happen that will help with the rescue. Now to wait to see how the story will play out.
Dark Island: Rescue, Book 101 of the Children of the Gods series by Isabell Lucas @itlucas_author - You must read this book serial in order from book 1!
OMG! OMG! So amazing! I am loving this first book about Tula & Esag! Way too short! LOL! Tropes: Contemporary, Paranormal (Gods/Goddesses/Aliens), MF, Harem Captive, Escape Planning, Overall Storyline Arc For The Series & a cliffhanger for the next part of this series!
I don't know how I.T. Lucas makes a series this long be so interesting with twists and turns but she does. This is Tula's story and it does not go in the direction you expect. There are other side stories speckled through out which keeps moving along other substories. It also builds anticipation for the next book and leaves you with a few how are they going to do that guestions for a few other people. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This book was just okay for me. I think that after Tamira and Eluheed’s story I was anticipating that this book would be about their escape. Unfortunately this book is only about Tula possibly being rescued. I feel so very bad for the other’s being left behind. This book was also a bit on the very slow side. However I still found it to be interesting. So far I am not a big fan of Tula and Angelica. They are a bit too angry abandon unforgiving for my taste
I love this series and have been following it for over a year. Each book is intriguing and exciting and a lot of the time unexpected. I know all good things must come to an end but until then, I will continue to follow the tale of Gods and immortals enjoying the well-written charm of each one. Thanks for keeping me enchanted through each characters journey and I look forward to the rest of the story!
Literally my favourite series, never seems to dwindle!!
Really building to a crescendo, cannot wait to see what happens once the rescue takes place, I am living in hope that they work out how to take all 4, the enhanced soldiers and eluheed have to get involved I am sure!!! Astonishing tribute to IT Lucas that over 100 books in and we are all still so invested!!
This one had me tearing up along with Tula at points. Will they get off the island? Is Navuh going to grow suspicious? I hope we still hear about the island even after this resolves itself. I'm invested in these ladies stuck in the harem. Absolutely amazing book. I can read this series for the rest of my life. Favorite Author with the best story line.
Dark Island (Children Of The Gods Paranormal Romance Book 101) by I T Lucas. After Tula, Tony, Tamara and Elias’s aborted attempt to get off the island Areana asks Annani for help. A rescue is put in place but, for the safety of Areana and everyone left behind, only Tula will be rescued.
I was so excited to finally get at least a bit of closure, but unfortunately it is looking like this part of the series is leaving us with too many question marks! I love the series and the characters, I am fully invested. But recently the books are not wrapping up very well. I'm here for the ride.
I absolutely love all the story arcs with this series. I'm said that I now have to wait for a new one to be released. I have read them all and am heavily invested in Annani finding Khiann. Also, I am dying to know what will happen between the two factions and if Navuh will be overtaken by his super soldiers. I can't wait for the next book!
As always, Lucas does a wonderful job. I have followed this series from the beginning, and the stories never get old. Each story is as unique as the characters.
It is a great read that is sexy without being pornographic. The sweetness and intimacy are not lost in the love scenes Exceptional!
The storm clouds are forming and actions taken now will have far reaching consequences and impacts on both environments. The Clan and The Brotherhood. Thinking a created killing machine is managed by 1 is far fetched. Unfortunately everyone is impacted by this decision.
Regrettably, this part of the story is getting stretched out and boring. Hope 102 picks up the pace dramatically. We still don’t know how Elias fits into all this and why Safe Harbor is being constructed in the first place. The exoskeletons are still experimental-seems like putting the “cart before the horse “.
What an amazing book, a transition wasn’t expected! Rescue ? Will the clan actually attempt? Betrayal on the horizon, so many variational outcomes possibly can happen. The beginning of this series in the serial story is leaving so many possibilities be ready Isabel definitely leaves us with many questions on where she is taking us.
I love the fact that the books characters have now focused on esag and navuh arena the immortal ladies tony and ehleed mostly tila I hope in the next book that all four get their freedom I'm thinking one of the enhanced soldiers are going to cause trouble. I hope tony is freed and is a dormant and finds his true love mate.
This one is a tearjerker... it's got everything- love, heartache, betrayal, more love. The bond between Areana and Tula becomes more evident, and there's a few couples exploring their love. This book has a lot of moving parts so buckle up and enjoy!! And keep the tissues nearby 🩵
Well this is the first book that I edited for errors. I only found two Hope I didn’t miss anything
It was fun, if not a little complicated downloading the book then transferring it to Kindle. Then capturing the highlight errors and marking what was wrong w them. Interesting
I’m so excited to get more of Tula’s story. The authors writing just captures you and makes you want more after over 100 books I’m still craving to know more of this world.
At this point I have read all 101 of this series. I am honest to goddess in awe! Every book builds on the one before it. Every book builds a richer world and now universe. I truly can't wait for book #102!
I’m going to continue this series, cause after over 100 I’d say I’m hooked. If this was the first book, I’d probably not be eager to continue. What was fresh and exciting for so many books is now stale and formulaic. IT Lucas, you can do better!
It’s amazing! Over 100 books and the story is still amazing. I am betting that the revolt happens with just the right timing to get all 4 of the people that want to go. Can’t wait for the next book to see if I am right.
