Lynx Patton and Fateema Nesby met in sixth grade. They found solace in one another, bonding over their mothers’ deaths, being picked on, and having somewhat awkward personalities. Welcome to Kay Shanee's Reading Korner Kay is forty something wife and mother, born and raised in the Midwest. During the day, she is a high school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite pastime is reading and writing romance novels about the dopeness of BLACK LOVE.
I enjoyed Lynx and Bunny’s friendship, growth, and eventual love. They were locked in from the moment they met and never let up. Yes, they had ups and downs, as all relationships do; but the feelings never wavered.
Ma’am! You know you can give us story and drop some messy drama in there right quick! That tea about Lynx’s father, and the secret that the couple held onto for 10 YEARS!! 🤯 I’m glad that conversation finally happened, cause I’m like Lynx what is your deal sir? Why are you taking so long to get your ish together? Loved it. 👍🏾👍🏾
This was such a beautiful coming of age story. I really loved the Chemistry between Lynx and Fateema, the way that the author showcased the development of their friendship as two sorta outcast and them forming an unbreakable bond was truly beautiful. I will say Lynx was a little frustrating as the MMC, and I was a lil mad at him but seeing him grow and develop and really review what he had with Fateema really redeemed my faith in him. I understood how they got stuck in the situationship that they were in and once everything boiled over, they had to reflect on how they got there. I love how they took their time to really "fall" in love with each other. Loved the flashbacks and perspective changes to really understand the characters. The friend group was me routing for 2 soulmates. This was def something different from this author, but it was the best something different. I def hope to see more plot lines that mirror this.💜
Full transparency- books with multiple flashbacks typically aren't my cup of tea so when I realized that is how this book was structured I almost returned it. I am glad I stuck with it though because although there were a lot of flashbacks, they really helped to tell this coming of age story perfectly. Lynx and Fateema were the true definition of best friends and I loved reading about them falling in love and the realization of it. It was dope to see how from such a young age they had each other's backs and how their lives mirrored each other's in many ways. I also really appreciated how their dads encouraged their friendship which isn't typical of opposite gender friendships - especially during those pubescent years. This story wasn't without some drama but the sum of it was really a feel good story. I just wish it was a little longer and we got to really see them in their adult HEA a little bit more.
I love a good friends to lovers story and this one was great from the very first page. Lynx and Fateema (Bunny) have known each other since the sixth grade and became best friends at that time. As they grew older, those friendship feelings change to passionate feelings. Once they are separated from each other due to living in different cities, they realize things are changing between them. I'm glad that Fateema let Lynx know how she was really feeling which led to him not taking her for granted anymore. Lynx definitely showed his Bunny how much he loved her once he realized he could lose her. Their taking their time to date and really express their feelings was just what their relationship needed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book because of all of the emotional aspects contained throughout the story.
Loyalty, Lust, Love is the coming of age love story of Fateema and Lynx. They met in 6th grade and became fast friends, matter of fact they are each other’s only friend. The best friends grow up together and share all their important milestones.
Though they have shared history, crazy sexual chemistry, and are very compatible, each one is afraid to make the transition from besties to life partners. Would you risk your most important relationship to experience a love of a lifetime??
We can always count on Kay Shanee to give us a sweet, sexy story that reminds us that Black love is always worth it! Loyalty, Lust, Love is no different. Check it out!
Didn’t realize how much I would connect with this book! When you are in a persons life most of their life you take things for granted and get comfortable . These two showed that it’s not okay . You have to always show and prove your love and they did that . Everyone knew they were meant to be , but they had to put in the work !!
I loved the bond & chemistry between these two. & I enjoyed how their love story unfolded. It was fun, funny, sexy, a little heartbreaking, yet still comforting.
Dealing with their present issues, while diving into the complexity of their past was 👩🏾🍳😘.
I recommend this to the book babes who like “friends to lovers” with a few extra layers.
The book was okay overall. The friendship turned romance between Fateema and Lynx was nice but I think their relationship was a bit over saturated making it unrealistic and kind of forced in some ways. I also think some of their more intimate scenes were written in a weird way making them kind of cringe.
I loved this story watching them grow into love & each other!! How they always had each other's back and how they maintained them threw it all!! They were sexy and crazy and loved hard & deep it was a beautiful story.
I loved the storyline. I loved the way the author shared their history with the flashbacks it really helped me to fall in love with them as they feel in love with each other. Glad they were able to get their HEA.
This was the author’s first coming of age story and she nailed it big time. The love that Bunny & Lynx shared was soo beautiful. I hope to hear from them again.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kay never disappoints. This book is definitely 5 star worthy like majority of her other work. Looking forward to more great reads in the near future.
This was such a great read for me. I loved the way the author takes you on a journey that makes the characters so real. It was relaxing and enjoyable for a cold day.
