Accidentally Marrying

Accidentally Marrying the Mafia Don: a smutty age gap romance

Rate this book
I’m the stand-in maid of honour, he’s the silver fox uncle of the groom who saves the day when the wedding becomes a disaster, with a pet ring-bearer gone rogue, a drunk priest, a small incident with a gun, and a child with perfect comic timing.

But the dream Italian wedding continues, and the uncle and I sign as witnesses.

And if I try to flirt with him, I blame the romantic setting, wine, and the fact that although he’s twice my age, he’s the hottest man I’ve ever met.

His edge of danger, with his tattoos and the way everyone is nervous of him, gossiping that he’s a morally gray billionaire, only makes me want him more.

He turns me down with a touch to my cheek and a hoarse murmur that I’m too young and innocent for a man like him.

Back at home, my dull little life doesn't compare. Then a wedding certificate arrives at my door.

There’s been a mix up, and I’m married. To him.

Accidentally Marrying the Mafia Don is a sweet and spicy instalove romance with fluffy mafia romcom vibes and sizzling chemistry.

💫 This was cute, fun, unserious, quick, light… and exactly what I needed.

🎧 Audiobook Experience
I received the Audio ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and it was such an experience.
I originally requested it because of Brandon Francis and Zara Hampton-Brown, and I regret nothing. These two are wonderful narrators who did an amazing job bringing this story and the characters to life in a duet narration. 🎙️

💘 Tropes & Execution
I am not the biggest fan of:
• age gap
• virginity trope
…but I couldn’t resist myself here. And also? Zero regrets.
The author handled both so well, and considering it’s a 160-page book, there weren’t really any problematic elements. But there was such an interesting plot twist… wink
I think the intention was simply fun.
and boy, did I have fun… I laughed out loud so many times 😂

💬
“I’m so glad we did this together.”
I struggle to find the words to express how I feel. Why I don’t care that I’m her first, but I’m forever grateful that I get to experience this moment of pain and pleasure and newness with the woman I love.
“It’s an honour.”

🥹💕

⚠️ Fair Warning
This is very much:
• love at first sight 💘
• insta-lust 🔥
So don’t come at it if those tropes are not for you.
Come for the fun and lighthearted laughs,
stay for:
• a swoon-worthy mafia don
• a cute bookish woman
• and two people completely obsessed with each other
Easy, addictive, and a really good time. ✨

Pre-read:
I'm either going to hate it or love it.
The age gap is as severe as my current reading slump

An absolute chaotic wedding comedy with humor, warmth, and fun. when Ruby marries Dante due to a tipsy “clerical error” the fun is just starting. The intense and controlling Mafia Don might just be exactly what our fmc needs.
All the good tropes are there: forced proximity, mutual pining, lightness to counter the darkness.
It's fun, light an absolute delight.

Thank you to Victory Editing and Netgalley for the ARC.

This was very insta-love, but for a short novella that’s kind of expected, and I didn’t have any issues with that.

Ruby is not my usual type of FMC. But here, it actually worked really well. The age gap and him being a mafia boss fit perfectly with her more obedient nature and her desire to please, so the dynamic made sense to me.

It was fast (naturally) and fun. I laughed a few times, and the spice was hot enough to keep things interesting.

I also really appreciated the epilogue set six years later. With shorter stories, I always want that glimpse into the future - I need to know it lasted, and this delivered.

That said, the twist at the end didn't really work for me. It felt a bit silly, and at times I had the impression the author was trying a little too hard to appeal to readers by using familiar "favorite" phrases. It took me out of the story a bit.

I received the ALC of the audiobook, and overall I enjoyed the experience. I especially loved the female narrator, Zara Hampton-Brown - no notes. I do have mixed feelings about the male narrator, Brandon Francis. He did an amazing job with different characters and really brought emotion into his performance, but his voice for the MMC was a bit too breathy for my taste… almost like he constantly sounded turned on. It didn’t fully work for me.

Overall, it was a quick, entertaining read that did what it was supposed to do, even if some parts didn’t fully land for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Evie Rose for providing the ALC

Thank you the NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in return for a voluntary and honest review!

Honestly when I picked up this novella, I didn't expect that I would be finding it funny?? There was so many fun little lines in this book that actually had me laughing out loud at points so it was actually a really fun quick read!
Considering this is a novella (it sits at around 140 pages long) im honestly impressed with the plot to romance ratio - i feel like a lot a novellas with romance end up having little to no actual plot but this one doesnt follow that!

Some of the wording icked me out a little bit but i suspect this is just personal preference. There was lost of mentions of pregnancy etc. and thats just not really for me!

The narrators were great, I'm quite familiar with the female narrator in other books so it was nice to be able to recognise her immediately! They conveyed the story perfectly :)

This book was okay if you like insta love, and an FMC that gives off pathetic as well as ridiculously innocent. The MMC gives slightly creepy but more just icky. Hes trying to hard to be tough as well as dangerous and doesnt pull it off.
The story had so many tropes thrown in I was getting annoyed. Its too short of a story to have more the 3? Maybe? Tropes. Not a dozen.
The narrators did okay, although for an Italian man who talks about Italian Pride a lot and accent would have been nice. Otherwise I don't think its the narrators that failed this story, it was how pathetic the FMC came off, how instantly she just couldn't live without him, and how hard the book tried to convince us this was a dangerous man but all I wanted to do was roll my eyes at him.

This was such a random whim read and I’m actually so glad I picked it up because this might be one of the most entertainingly mindless mafia novellas I’ve read in a while. Was there insta-love? Yes. Insta-lust? Obviously. Did these people fall for each other at the speed of light? Absolutely. But it’s a novella about accidentally marrying a mafia don. If they started communicating rationally and taking things slow, I would’ve been concerned.

And honestly, this book knew exactly what it wanted to be. It wasn’t trying to emotionally devastate me or drag me through fifty unnecessary plot twists. It was just fun, spicy, chaotic mafia shenanigans with enough sweetness to make me giggle like an idiot at 2 a.m. Considering I’m currently reading another book that feels like emotional warfare, this was exactly the break my brain needed.

The audiobook narrators also did such a good job. They made the entire experience even more entertaining and somehow made the chemistry feel ten times better.

Dante was definitely my favorite part though. Beneath all the mafia don intimidation and murder-adjacent energy, he was surprisingly mature and steady. He had his values, his rules, and once he decided Ruby was his person, that man folded immediately. And Ruby herself was such a fun FMC. She was witty, funny, chaotic, a little scared at times, but honestly? Fair. I too would be slightly nervous after accidentally marrying a mafia don.

Also, one of the funniest things this man ever thought was that maybe if he gave Ruby a lifetime book buying budget, she’d fall in love with him. Sir. That is not manipulation. That is the mating call of every book girl alive. And the amount he mentioned too? Yeah, I would’ve married him immediately. Accidentally, deliberately, spiritually, legally. Doesn’t matter. The papers would’ve been signed before he finished the offer.

And I genuinely thought the accidental marriage reveal was going to go in a completely different direction, so when everything came together, it made the whole thing even more fun for me.

This book was quick, spicy, sweet, ridiculous in the best way, and ridiculously entertaining from start to finish.

I wanted something light and short to read tonight.
I've been on a mafia reading trope as of late and this caught my eye.
I was chuckling loudly at the antics of Al Poochino! This doggie alone gave this story the 4 stars,my only wish was that there was more of him.

"Tesorina, you're too young and innocent for a man like me."~Dante😭

"I'd live to be his toy. His cherished, petted, loved toy." ~Ruby😝

"That's all you need to do to be my perfect wife, Ruby. Love me, and don't let go. I couldn't bear to lose you." ~Dante😍

"Love is worth the risk, you know."~Lucia🤩

Ooooo, this book was insanely good.🎉🎉 I could not, would not, put it down. I was cracking up with the explosive shenanigans of a dog named Al Poochino. A destructor of epic proportions, making his mark, at a summer wedding in beautiful Italy. 22yr old Ruby Wilson, a hair stylist and secret artist of fan fiction or books in general, is thrown into the chaos of Lucia's daughter's wedding. 2 of the bridesmaids are sick, oysters, and well, fun fact there's a bag full of 'Exorcist 🤢confetti'🤢 that the dog ran away with.🤮🛍️🐕 The story began at high speed and didn't stop. Sweet Ruby wrangled the dog 🧀🧀🧀🧀, ran into the very tall and super attractive man that is Dante Angelini, he's the Uncle of the bride, Francesca, and she suddenly had to be a stand-in bridesmaid for the wedding to continue. It doesn't end there. The priest is also inebriated.🥴🍺🍺🍺 Drama. Drama. Alpi does more obscene things.🙈🙉🙊

Ruby is a total sweetheart. She loves books, a girl after my own heart, and genuinely wants to help everyone. A bit of a people pleaser but not in a bad way. And when she ran into Dante, with his green eyes, salt and pepper hair, tats, looking all hawtt, smelling good, and magnetic; well, Ruby fell.😘🥰 Who can resist that type of man? I couldn't.lol She wants to get to know him, she feels the attraction and hopes that, maybe, he does too. He certainly acts like it. Everything feels right. Until....

Dante is a Don, he's a part of the London Mafia Syndicate, aka London Maths Club. Secretly.🤫 He likes Ruby instantly. He could indulge and take Ruby home, but he can't bring her into his dangerous world. He wants to but it wouldn't be the right thing to do. He may be a criminal but he can't do that to her. Plus, he's dwelling on his age. Dante is 40. He's interested, very much so, but he can't give in, not even when Ruby kissed him and made his heart feel a certain way.💋❤️‍🔥💋 Rejection is the only way.

Months later finds Ruby back in London receiving a letter in the mail. A certificate of marriage. Why was Ruby labeled as a spinster on that form?😨 That's. Rude funny.🤭 How did this happen? Remember the dog. Yeah the wedding certificate got torn and chewed up.... So now Ruby and Dante are officially married. Huge mix-up. Or is it the intervention of the Universe?🌌 Ruby has to find Dante and let him know. And when she went to his guarded up home, remember the Mafia Syndicate, well they're all there watching, questioning, and wanting to search Ruby.😂😂 It's insane. Hilarious. Off the wall bonkers.👥🔰👥🔰👥🔰 Dante keeps his emotions in check, he's happy to see her, even though he's been secretly stalking her.👤 Not in a dark unhinged way. Until Ruby said she's his wife.🫢🫢🫢 Whaaatt!!

The world building grew as Dante and Ruby lived together while waiting for the annulment. Their romance is a slow burn as they navigated this unexpected event. Dante is hooked on Ruby. Over-protective. Supporter. Obsessed. He's in love with his wife. But he's waiting. Ruby wants her husband. She wants to please him, have him desire her, keep her as his wife.🫦💍 Girl tries hard. But she isn't sure if he wants her? Ruby. Can't you see? He offers an allowance for books. It's a ton of money. A black credit card. I can't with Dante.🥰

Danger lurks. Enemies are everywhere. Spies. It does get spicy and steamy later. Holy moly!!!🔥🌋🔥🌋 Naughty talk. Breeding kink. Emotional connection. Even adult conversations happen. I loved Dante and Ruby. This is a funny, well written book. The book cover is great. I highly recommend. If you like rom-coms and high heat, this book is for you. The epilogue is cool!! Well done, Ms Rose.🎆🎆 Shout out to Al Poochino🐶. Happy reading. *•>§<•*❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is a short and lighthearted age-gap mafia romance between a hairdresser and a mafia don.

As this story is quite short there was not much space to get to know the characters in depth but the narrators did a great job giving them deeper personalities anyways.

I enjoyed this audiobook a lot and would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a quick and easy read or who needs to drag themselves out of a reading slump.

this was a fun and easy audiobook to get through. it had a light, humorous vibe with a mix of cute and spicy moments, which made it an enjoyable listen.

dante and ruby were a cute couple, and i liked their dynamic. this is more of a “just go with the flow” kind of read rather than something super serious. it’s also a quick listen (about 3 hours), which makes it a great palate cleanser.

the audiobook was really well done. the dual narration worked great, and both narrators did a good job bringing the story to life.

for me personally, i wasn’t fully sold on the “obsessed” aspect of the mmc, as he came across a bit stronger than i expected at times. however, i think this may work better for readers who enjoy a more intense dynamic.

overall, this was a fun, quick, and entertaining read.

𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞:
age gap, “my wife”, forced proximity, virgin fmc, obsessed stalker mmc, he falls first, touch her and die, dirty talk, good girl, praise, protective mmc, tattooed italian mafia boss, hurt/comfort, breeding kink, marriage of convenience, older man younger woman, smutty, insta-love

Anyone looking for an over the top, somewhat fluffy/cheesy, insta-love, very humorous and lovable MCs, this would be it. And it’s a Mafia trope too. Go figure.

All I will say, Al Poochino, you dirty little dog you!

Alpi finally sits down, and I think we’re in the clear.
Until he rolls slightly, cocks his leg in the air, and starts licking his bum.
The noise is… not ideal. He’s slurping. There’s an audible—maybe even loud—wet sound as he really gets involved.
And then I notice it. Not only is he sucking his balls, Alpi is also giving an anatomy lesson about boy dogs.
He has his lipstick out. A small, pink, and unmistakable little dog penis pokes up. In the middle of the wedding, at the front.

“Does Al Poochino think he’s losing his territory with Francesca? He’s acting like true Italian mafioso, ruthlessly disrupting this wedding.
I lift the little dog up and stare him in the eyes.
If his mission has been to fuck with my girl because I gave his girl away, he’s done an admirable job. One mafia don to another, I respect that.”

“He’s lucky that the dog’s disgraceful behavior has taken most of my ire—I knew he’d be trouble when Francesca named him Al Poochino after a mafia film star she’s too young to know about—and the mutt is above him on the list of people I’m considering murdering today.”

How are you? If you’re my wife, why aren’t you pregnant yet? How did you know I wanted you? Will you stay? Please, never leave me again, even if I tell you to.

Safety:

- 40 year old MMC and obviously experienced but no past history mentioned.
- 20 something yr old FMC and a virgin
- No OW/OM
- No condoms used
- Breeding kink

This is a Mafia Romance, and this is part of the Accidentally Marrying. I have not read the other books in the Accidentally Marrying series before picking up this book. I read this book by listening to the audiobook, and I enjoyed the audiobook for this book. I found this book to be a fun and easy read. I did enjoy reading this book, and I read it in one sitting. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Evie Rose’s latest, Accidentally Marrying the Mafia Don, was just the story I needed. And Evie Rose’s novellas always hit the spot with the right balance of romance, spice, and a touch of humor in the mix. This one, though, had me chuckling quite a bit right from the goof-up in the beginning. She’s the maid of honor, and he’s the silver fox uncle of the groom. What could go wrong? Lots! Because these two are the ones who end up “accidentally” married.

But it wouldn’t be an Evie Rose story without the Mafia component, which she weaves in. Dante is the Mafia Don, and there are expectations. Ruby is inexperienced and makes efforts to be everything she believes he would want in a wife. Her efforts were both humorous and quite touching. At 141 pages, readers should expect the romance to move quickly—that’s what I like and expect from this author. And the spice is pretty hot.

Thank you to Author Evie Rose for the gifted e-copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This might just take the cake for record fastest insta-love ever. I didn’t mind it though, it was exactly what it promises, a quick, witty, spicy little novella with plenty of entertainment crammed into a 3hr audiobook. How is this both horrible and amazing???
Think of a romance cliche, any cliche.
Because I can guarantee it is in this book, along with every other cliche you can think of.
But it also has a fabulous plot and interesting characters and a little banter and some mystery and a funny dog and and and.
And the narrators were chef's kiss!
I both loved and loathed this book at times and would overall recommend it.
Mostly, I want someone I know to read it so we can hash out all the bits together.

When I first started this book, I didn't think I was going to like it. The insta-love was WAY TOO insta-love on the side of the MMC.

BUT... as the story went on, it actually worked well and I couldn't stop listening to this audiobook. I loved how the story unfolded and how things went between the characters. I don't actually believe they would be able to "accidentally" get married IRL, mostly because of the hoops you have to jump through in order to get married, but for the sake of fiction - it was cute.

I laughed - a lot - and truly enjoyed seeing a hair dresser in the world of the mafia. I wish it was longer just so I got to spend more time in this world.

3-3.5⭐️ Ok, this novella was silly and cheesy, but sometimes that is exactly what I want in a short read or listen, so that is fine with me. The narrators really brought this to life 😁.

We have FMC Ruby, a twenty‑two‑year‑old English junior hairdresser working a dream wedding job in Italy, and MMC Dante, a forty‑year‑old Italian Mafia Don. They meet at his niece’s wedding, where Dante falls instantly. No build‑up, just in love by chapter two 😁.

Months later, after a mix‑up caused by the scene‑stealing dog ALPOOCHINO, the MCs discover they are accidentally married. Cue the dance of them trying to convince each other to stay married while both secretly wanting exactly that. There is a little bit of mafia action, some spice, and plenty of over‑the‑top moments thrown in too.

The audio is duet and under four hours the book being 140ish pages. Zara Hampton‑Brown is brilliant and really throws herself into it. Brandon Francis is great too, though I could not quite place his accent for the character 🤷🏻‍♀️.

All of Evie Rose’s novellas are insta love, which is not usually my thing, but this is the second one I have had fun with. I will definitely check out some more of them soon. That is it 🙌🏻❤️

Thanks to NetGalley for the copy in return for an honest review.

This audiobook was such a good time, exactly what I was in the mood for. The dual narration was so well done, and I completely fell for both of the main characters. It had that perfect mix of romance, spice, and just enough humour to keep me grinning the whole way through.

The setup is already chaotic in the best way: she’s the maid of honour, he’s the groom’s silver fox uncle… and somehow these two end up accidentally married. Because of course they do. Dante is a Mafia Don with a reputation and expectations, while Ruby is totally inexperienced and trying her best to be what she thinks he wants in a wife. Watching her figure things out was equal parts funny and genuinely sweet, I really loved her for that.

It’s a short, spicy novella, so don’t go in expecting a super deep or complex plot. But honestly? The tropes deliver. The attraction is instant, the chemistry is there, and the ending gives you exactly what you’re hoping for. Evie did such a great job pulling this together. It had me smiling and even laughing out loud at times. Definitely made me want to pick up more of her books!

This book was cute with flirty banter in places and a quick read/listen I didn't dislike the lead characters but there is not enough time for an actual build up of any back story everything feels on the rushed side. Dante calls her by her nick name or "My Wife" 700 times (I didn't really count this), a lot of corny/cheesy scenes (including in the bedroom). The FMC also spends too much time worried about being a "Perfect little wife"... girl just be you he loved you the way you are 3 minutes after meeting you.

While not a bad read this one just missed the mark for me in a lot of places we only really have story with the lead couple with occasional other characters showing up but it's only surface level for everyone and I just didn't feel like I could get all that invested with the story or the characters.

I felt the narrators did a good job for the most part the MMC while he has a nice voice it felt like he was doing his sultry/steamy/breathy voice for the whole book... kind of took me out of it at times I've never heard someone talk like that all the time and it didn't feel like a natural speaking voice.

⭐️ 3.5 stars (but we’re rounding up because vibes) | 🌶️ Spice: 3
This book said “plot? optional. chaos? REQUIRED.”
We’ve got:
💇‍♀️ FMC hairdresser just trying to do her job
💍 mafia-adjacent wedding that’s somehow low drama??
🐶 one DEMON DOG committed to ruining everything
💘 MMC falling in love in 0.2 seconds (sir please breathe)
📄 surprise marriage like it’s a Tuesday
Is it realistic? Absolutely not. Did I eat it up anyway? Also yes.
The audiobook though?? ELITE. Dual narrators carried this on their backs. MMC voice = intimidating mafia man perfection. FMC voice = soft, shy, exactly right. I was fully sold.
Come for the chaos dog, stay for the insta-love and accidental marriage energy. Highly recommend listening over reading for max enjoyment.

This was a cute, quick, lighthearted read! I finished this audiobook in one sitting and even though it was only 3.5 hours long, it did a good job at telling a complete story. It actually had me chuckling out loud which is not something that happens very often. This was a super-fast paced mafia romance where the older mafia dom falls hard and first!

✨A very naughty dog
✨Meet cute
✨Age gap
✨Fake marriage of convenience
✨Insta love
✨He falls first
✨Older tattooed Italian mafia boss with a ‘touch her and die’ attitude
✨Down on her luck younger virgin fmc who needs to be talked through it
✨Breeding kink

When Ruby gets wrangled into being the designated dog handler for the destination wedding that she was hired to do hair for, she never expected to find the tall, dark and handsome man of her dreams. She also didn’t plan on him being a tattooed older man with a dangerous aura who looked at her in a way that had her wanting to experience things she had never experienced before. When Dante arrived at his nieces wedding, he wasn’t planning on literally running into the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Will they be able to extend the magic of the Italian destination wedding into the real world or will it all fall to pieces once the truth comes to light?

I would definitely recommend this book/audiobook if you’re looking for a cute, low stakes read. The audiobook was great! Both narrators were easy to listen to and it was easy to form a connection with the characters through their voices. Overall, a super fun read and I will be reading more from this author in the future

This is the second Mafia romcom I've had the pleasure of reading by Evie Rose and it's unlikely to be the last.

Charming and funny, this book follows Ruby and Dante after a mishap at a family wedding ends up with the pair being married instead of the actual bride and groom.

I listened to the audio for this one which was narrated by Zara Hampton-brown and Brandon Francis who both do a great job bringing the story and characters to life. Zara is brilliant at getting right into the heart of Ruby's naive and comical moments and Brandon brings a breathy and masculine tinge to Dante's Clerkenwell persona.

This book is perfect for a quick and funny read that doesnt need to be taken too seriously. The audiobook can be finished in under 5 hours, and Dante's love of cheese gives me every reason to recommend it going forward.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book via Netgalley.

3.5 for this age-gap mafia write-up for Ruby and Dante. I found the start a bit slow but pushed through, I’m unsure if that was my mood or not connecting with the story.

Happy to report it did improve and I enjoyed the short story. There is a nice little twist, the characters do get some depth and it turns out well for most. Lucia, Dante’s sister is a good wing-sister!

Excerpts from Accidentally Marrying the Mafia Don by Evie Rose:

If anyone should be humping Ruby, it’s me. I’m not jealous of that furry trouble-maker exactly, but I’d pay quite a lot for Ruby to feed me cheese whenever I ask.

Then I decide to woo her in some old-fashioned way. Like dinner, chocolates, red roses, and kidnapping.

“What does tesorina mean?” she asks nervously. It means you’re mine. “It’s the Italian equivalent of darling, but the literal translation is little treasure.”

“Are your feet cold, Ruby?” Not really, but I’d lie in an ice-bath for two days if it meant Dante touched me to warm me up. My lips are really cold! My clit is so cold. Freezing! The inside of my pussy is sub-zero. “Yes. A bit,” honesty compels me to add.

“Tell me you want me to make you come, and I will, Ruby,” he rasps. “Say the words, and trust me, and I’ll make you explode. I promise.”

“Are you wet for me? Or do I need to hold you down and lick you until you scream and thrash as you come?”

Dante and Ruby meet when she is the hairdresser for his nieces wedding. They both get hit with the special Evie Rose insta bug. However he thinks she is too young, she thinks he wouldn’t want her!
Move forward a few weeks and someone has managed to get a marriage certificate showing Dante and Ruby are in fact married. An annulment? Read the book to find out.
Lots of insecurities, then passion, lots of witty moments (scatter cushion on their bed!), melting sweet moments and a wonderful epilogue.
One of my many highlighted moments include…. He kisses me like there’s a time limit and he has to get as much in as he can before an imaginary bell rings.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

4 stars!!!

Only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because I needed it to be longer!!!! I LOVED this!!! This was hilarious and had my giggling and kicking my feet literally the entire time! What a fun quick read! This was done in a duet narration style and was PHENOMENAL the narrators were perfect! I knew I loved this female narrator but the male narrator was new to me and I’m going to need more he’s done IMMEDIATELY. This mmc is major book husband material my goodness!!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my audio arc this was my honest review.
