Disclaimer: I know the author and was either aware of or present for some of the vignettes. However, because I experienced the stories from a different perspective, it was fascinating to hear about them from Heidi and to learn how she interacted with God.

"Hunting for Honey" is Heidi Gianni's debut book. It is a memoir that weaves together several meaningful points from her life, along with a broad message to find God everywhere— in both the big and small moments— and to remember that He will never forsake you, even when circumstances suggest otherwise.

It's an easy read (I enjoyed it on a Saturday afternoon), but it also encourages the reader to begin a walk with Jesus, to get back on the path with Jesus, or to dive in deeper with Jesus. It's not filled with deep theological debates, but it is packed with scripture and demonstrates the richness and scope of what the Bible offers to those willing to explore.

I appreciated the honest rawness of each story and how she kept seeking God amid the turmoil. It serves as a good reminder for believers that we must never take our eyes off God and should always be praying. For the unbeliever, it provides a gentle entry point into how someone moved from having only an arms-length knowledge of Jesus to developing a deep, abiding faith through trials and tribulations. What began as a journey filled with self-doubt has transformed into a faith that doesn't eliminate problems but gives a real anchor, even when God doesn't — or often doesn’t — remove the issues immediately.

Each chapter's story is painfully honest, and the author is very vulnerable as she shares her heart and the genuine emotions she experienced through various and diverse challenges. Some readers might wonder if some of the stories warrant the depth of emotion the author felt. However, whether the issue seems significant (their youngest son being born at 27 weeks) or minor (getting a parking spot by her sister) to the reader, the essential common thread is that God's grace and provision are present regardless of the situation, and He reveals Himself when we seek Him and lean into His word.

I highly recommend it for somebody who is searching for meaning in the madness that is our current world, somebody who needs to find an anchor in a storm, or anybody who just needs a gentle but timely reminder that God is present now and forever.

Hunting For Honey is the perfect title for this sweet book filled with stories that make you laugh, cry, think, feel, and inspire you to grow deeper and to look for God in every area of your life - past, present and future. The author Heidi Gianni shared many stories throughout the chapters of how God was in every moment of her life, the BIG and the little. She pulls you into her stories and inspires you to look at your own story through prompting questions and scripture, The Word of God. The perfect book for all ages of women and men alike who need to be reminded of the simplicity and Love the Lord has for us all.

Hunting for Honey is a vulnerable and honest account of the author’s struggles and her experience of finding God in the midst of it all. It offers a beautiful, Biblically grounded understanding of who God is and how deeply He loves us. I found her stories incredibly relatable, as she speaks straight to the reader’s heart and reminds us that God is present in every detail—both big and small. I can’t recommend this book enough for anyone who needs encouragement or a fresh glimpse of God’s perfect goodness and nearness. It left me both comforted and challenged in the best possible way.

The author is a godly woman whose stories inspired me to seek the everyday goodness of our God. I found myself realizing I could pray for the little things in life and didn’t need to “save up” my prayers for the big stuff. She shines the light on all the way God shows up. l also really appreciate how much she intertwines God’s word/scripture into her stories. It’s something I feel that other Christian memoirs or devotionals are light on and I really appreciate that aspect of this book. Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone who is looking to be reminded and inspired by God’s promises to us. I look forward to more books from this author and would be particularly interested in parenting focused books! She’s about 15 years older than me and as a mom with 3 kids I feel so inspired by her journey! Thank you Heidi!!

It’s an uplifting read that will inspire you to look for His presence in everyday life. Each chapter in Hunting for Honey has left my heart so full of inspiration and hope! I have savored all of Heidi Gianni’s beautiful snapshots of God’s kind love for his children. Hunting for Honey captures the surreal and ordinary moments of our lives and points us to our only true sense of hope and joy, Jesus! As we journey through the pages of this inspiring look-back, I can easily relate to so much of it. The moments of doubt, worry, and fret. All mixed with the unexplained joy and hope in the midst of it all. Her delightful wit and story telling is captivating. Leaving me wanting more.

Hunting for Honey has helped me reflect on all the moments in my life, big and small, where I have seen Jesus working and moving in my life; weaving his love and will for me all together; all for my good and for His glory. One of my favorite lines in this MUST read is, “Looking back is both humbling and exhilarating as I trace the threads of His presence, realizing that even when I was unaware of His work, His love, and His plans, He was there.” I highly recommend this heartwarming book!

This book is a beautiful collection of stories about how God shows up.

Hunting for Honey reminded me about the amazing paradox that is God's love. He is infinite in power, which makes me think that He is a distant God. Yet, this book bravely outlines authentic, vulnerable accounts that reveal God's desire for closeness with each of us.

I also appreciated how the author explored doubts in a genuine way. One thing that stuck with me was how the author thought God loved everyone but maybe he had favorites. After all, the Bible only highlights a few hundred people. I've wrestled with this question myself, and it's reassuring to see others reach the same conclusion. God is deeply personal, and he's just waiting for us to seek Him ("hunt for honey").

P.S. I also loved that the author used the Bible to support claims.

Often in life, we face situations that make us ask, "Why me?" Challenging times are not what most of us pray for, yet everyone encounters circumstances that can leave us feeling hopeless. Hunting for Honey helps reset our focus and encourages us to see the bigger picture and find the good—the honey in our situations. Through Heidi's life examples, we are reminded to look up, seek God, and find hope and joy through our trials. I highly recommend this book to inspire and teach you to look beyond your circumstances. It's like a warm hug, sweetened with encouraging words. I bought several copies to gift to friends as well!

I just finished Chapter one and wanted to start my review because I truly sense that there is something special about this book! The HOPE it gives is incredible! With nuggets of faith woven throughout stories of desperation and hopelessness, the author meets the reader where they’re at, acknowledging that we don’t all have it perfectly together, but HE does.

I will come back to update my review but I can say that I will be recommending this book (it’s an EASY and enjoyable read) to many young women that I know!
