The beloved regression—themed, slow—burn romance that captivated over 65 million readers worldwide—now arrives in English print.
Baroness Cassia was relieved to die. After ten long years in a loveless marriage to her mercenary husband Zester, she found peace in finally leaving behind a life filled with exhaustion and sacrifice. If only she had the chance to do it all again! And then—she did. Waking a decade in the past, Cassia finds time has turned back. The same husband. The same barony. The same crossroads. If fate insists on a do—over, she won’t spend it suffering in silence. This time, she’s living for herself—and this time, she’s going on STRIKE!
Yet as the past begins to unravel, Cassia must ask herself: can she truly escape the fate she once accepted—or is she doomed to relive the same nightmare all over again? The hit webtoon, also known as Honey, I’m Going on a Strike!
Unfortunately my review copy was missing the beginning of chapter six (about fifteen pages), but the fact that I really enjoyed this anyway should say something. Although very funny, it has a good point to make about how a lack of proper communication can cause real problems, particularly in a romantic relationship. Poor Zester finally realizing a few things is both delightfully entertaining and really kind of sad.
If I could give this 6 stars, I would. I was giggling as I read this. It was so fun. This was such a good way to do the miscommunication trope. Baroness Cassia and her very shy (not that she realises this) husband, Zester, a mercenary, are put back together after Cassia dies from a mysterious illness and returns to ten years earlier. And yes, this time, the reset brings Cassia out of her shell and makes her more assertive. It also creates hilarious, awkward misunderstandings.
If you are a fan of Regression stories, this is a fun one, and I am so keen to read the next two volumes when they come out.
I love the art style and the development of the character, it's good to know why they treat each other like they did in their previous life and seeing how different they are now. I'm curious how the story would evolved.
Meh. The concept is interesting, but I have trouble connecting with either of the main characters.
In 10 years of marriage they seem to have never had a proper conversation about anything. Their finances, their sex life, their kids, their jobs. She's reset to the day after she got married (contract marriage, not love. They did not know each other beforehand) and decides to just not put up with anything this go around. She won't take care of her responsibilities as a baroness, she won't be nice to him, and the only reason she's not just outright leaving him is because she still wants her kids (who are years away from being born), so she'll begrudgingly stick around and be annoyed by him and just use all his stuff and only sleep with him on the designated conception nights. That's her plan. She doesn't want to be here and doesn't want to contribute.
But for some reason this time around her husband is acting like a completely different person and is a giant puppy, obsessively in love with her. Again, they did not know each other before getting married, and she hates him (after memories only she has of 10 years of him being a cold douche to her.)
It's kind of entertaining seeing him learn to communicate and be a better husband. And though her PLAN was to just be a leech until she can use him to get her kids again, she ends up actually helping run the place better with the power of hindsight, knowing what will go wrong. So it's kind of interesting, I just don't care about their relationship or either one of them as people really.
Great book! It moved quickly and kept my attention throughout each chapter. I also want to read volume 2. Good job, author! Oh, and I must also praise the art style. I was fortunate to get my hands on the special edition, so I'm very happy!
I inhaled this book in a day! Baroness Goes On Strike brought back my manwha era and I can't wait to dive into volume two!
Baroness Cassia, born into royalty gets married to Baron Zester, who rose the ranks not by birthright but by toiling away at war. After 10 years of an unhappy marriage and looking after the estate she falls sick and eventually passes away. But miraculously she's wakes up 10 years ago, on the night they consummated their marriage. This time Cassia decides to live a relaxing life. However, Cassia's changes bring about changes in Zester as well. The stoic Baron is slowly turning out to be a soft and awkward husband who doesn't know a single thing about love.
This volume was so sweet. I genuinely loved Cassia's headstrong personality and Zester's stoic-yet-soft character. The art is so gorgeous I still keep admiring the entire book. The classic rebirth trope in romance manwhas is omnipresent but this story stands out thanks to Cassia's brutally honest, charming, and stubborn personality.
Great start to this series. I will happily snag vol. 2.
Such a relatable trait of wanting to take advantage and relax, but huge heart and undeniable work ethic. Art is great 🤍 love the details on the hair and clothes.
Similar vibes: Marriage of Convenience
I bought the edition with the limited arts came with an art print of the main female lead with the title on the back. A nice pop up with a scene from his volume was also included. Really cute. The envelope, the art came in, was glued to the back inside cover and has left an ugly mark - torn paper absorbed into the glue. I don't think I'll be able to get it off fully.
The paper feels more like magazine paper, thinner and glossier than what I've come to expect. The color is good and it is lighter than my other manhwa. The thicker cover with the flaps is a nice touch, but I wasn't able to use them as temp bookmarks due to their lack of flexibility.
I devoured this in one sitting. I could not put it down!
Cassia is married off to Baron Zester, a vicious mercenary, and their marriage was an utterly loveless one. After Cassia dies from illness, she wakes up 10 years in the past on the night they consummated their marriage. She's determined this time around she will lead a relaxing life and refuse to stand down to anyone. Only, her once cold husband is now...sweet?
This was such a fun time. This volume was full of wonderful humor! Zester was absolutely precious and I really loved his character. This looks like it will be a series full of humorous shenanigans, excellent character development, stunning artwork, and one flustered doting husband. I can't wait to read more volumes.
4.75 stars
thank you Crossed Hearts for the early copy! its truly beautiful
Just lovely. My only qualms is why there’s just not enough said about the past life. Also the fact that she just accepts him and doesn’t try to find out what caused their estrangement in the last life in the first place. I wish we got more in depth development with that before they fell in love. It happened way to easy.
The setup of this story reminded me a lot of "Under the Oak Tree" aka one of my favorite spicy books. There's an arranged marriage element where a noble marries a lesser known soldier/knight-type as well as some magical elements, which were introduced toward the end of this volume. Over all, this was a solid first volume!
Shiko.... nuk di dmth pse e lexova se ky debili me kete horrible hairstyle me kete albinon jan horny all the time dhe po mundohen te tregoj se si nje fshatar kokuqi mund te dashuroj aristokraten e siper permendur ... anywaysssssss
I love Cassia and Jester relationship being developing through the story and they are definitely cute couple. I looking forward to how Jester facing those men who coveting Cassia. And also curios to know more about Cassia's son, my Rael... huhu
@chapter 34 · the misunderstandings between them were a bit frustrating at first, but character development happened and things seem to be better now, so no complaints.
