When Cass returns to her mother’s house in the shadow of the Welsh hills, she finds more than grief waiting in the silence. A keepsake box whispers of secrets buried across generations, of women bound to the moon and hunted by something older than fear itself.
Visions blur dream and waking. Bloodlines tangle with witches, hags, and the hollow things that stalk the night. To embrace her inheritance is to risk losing herself. To deny it may cost her everything she loves.
As the past coils tighter around the present, Cass must will she flee the darkness, or stand in it, luminous?
Moon Witch is a tale of grief and legacy, of women’s voices carried across centuries, and of a power that cannot be silenced.
Will appeal to readers who love The Lighthouse Witches, The Essex Serpent and atmospheric witchcraft rooted in folklore and emotion.
Tori writes atmospheric, witchy fiction inspired by Welsh folklore, ancient landscapes and the liminal places where the modern world brushes against the uncanny. Her debut novel Moon Witch is set in Llangollen and blends gothic settings, ancestral magic, grief, and the quiet power of women finding their true selves. When she's not writing, she works in nuclear safety, explores North Wales and plays keyboard in a band. Book 2 in the Sisters of the Veil series, Earth Witch, is out now!
I've never stopped grieving for my mum or my dad this story brings that grief to the fore of my world. Cass has to claim her grief while her sister watches her break, while love breaks her all under the guise of fear of the hag under the silver light of the moon witch
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this first book as this isn’t usually the type of fiction I would choose, but I was completely drawn in from the beginning. The characters of Cas and Owen were so intriguing that I quickly became invested in their story and wanted to keep reading to see where their journey would lead.
One of the highlights of the book for me was the beautiful setting and atmosphere. The imagery throughout the novel was well written and added magic and depth to the story.
A captivating and atmospheric read that surprised me in the best possible way.
Loved the main character’s personal battle between repressing her true self or accepting her place as a witch, and the character development of Owen. Great story of female empowerment in challenging times, dealing with grief and changing relationships. The atmospheric setting in Llangollen was a great contrast to the cities of Manchester and Chester in the story.
I really enjoyed Moon Witch. It has a bit of everything - mystery, fear, grief, love, manipulation and even moments of real sadness and hope. The story drew me in and kept me wondering right to the end. I thought it was beautifully written and full of feeling.
