I’m a creature of possession. What is mine, remains mine. Forever.
Years ago, a servant girl fled my palace after a… let’s call it “regrettable incident”. Tonight, I find her standing on a bride market block, selling what’s left of herself to the highest bidder.
An amusing turn of fate. The other monsters never stand a chance. A wyvern always reclaims his property.
I pay an obscene fortune, and when she looks at me with delicious defiance in her eyes, I tell her the simple I’m not buying a wife, I’m buying a servant to return her to her rightful place.
Now she’s trapped in my gilded cage, and her hatred is the most exquisite torture. She thinks she’s my prisoner, but she has no idea. Having her hate me under my own roof is a luxury I’ve earned and a pain I plan to savor.
Welcome to the bride market! Monsters bid, you choose. This is a spin-off series to Arranged Monster Mates. We're back on Alia Terra with steamy stories told by your favorite paranormal romance Eva Brandt, Lia Frost, Cara Wylde, and Ava York.
Cara Wylde loves to write about strong, feisty women and their hot Alphas who will do anything to make them happy. Her books are filled with romance and just a dash of mystery, suspense, and that eerie atmosphere she fell in love with reading too many gothic novels. With a master's degree in Comparative Literature, she can't help but play with tropes and themes from various genres, trying to come up with fresh perspectives on the paranormal characters her readers love so much. Vampires, shape-shifters, demons, witches... Cara will always make sure they get their own twists.
When she's not writing, Cara is reading, planning her next story, or daydreaming. Her idea of pure heaven is a day filled with nothing but her laptop, a huge coffee pot, relaxing music, and a new, exciting project.
This was soo good a deep exploration of how guilt and grief can eat you up and how sometimes two broken people can heal each other. Also dragon shifters with multiple man bits … double the trouble and fun . Sign me up! Thank you Cara for the advanced copy
For thousands of years, Earth has changed since the Shift and now is known as Alia Terra. With all of the various monsters that saved the humans and they each have territories and the Temples where the young maidens are matched by DNA to monsters and become a Bride. This is only the main way that women can get a better life for their families if they are living in poverty, which most humans are. However, there is one other way, the bride market. Here, human women who are not maidens find a way out after paying a small fee. She is then auctioned off to a monster, and the bidding begins. The woman does have a right to refuse and a choice to make.
Peacekeepers don’t patrol the very poor areas where Tressa and her father live. After he is very late getting home, she goes out in search of him. He is drinking and gambling them into debt, and it is up to her to fix things, ever since her brother and mother’s deaths. Finding out how and why they died is heartbreaking. Poor Tressa must figure something out again. There is only one choice left to her since there is so little time to fix what her father did this time. The Bride market. So she goes to work, to say goodbye and tell her bestie, Alana what she is going to do and ask her to keep an eye on her father for her. It is the only option left to her in order to save her father.
Lord Altair is a wyvern and his Lady mother, Helena cares for his ailing father, Varrick. Since Varrick is a purist, he doesn’t like humans, except as servants and barely that. He truly hates them. Even tho human blood could heal him, Varrick refuses and he is dying from his ailment and Altair’s mother, barely leaves Varrick’s side. At the auction, when the bidding for Tressa is hitting new highs, Altair arrives and blows the other bidders out of the water, figuratively speaking. I love this part as she talks with him and we find out about their pasts. Once they return to the palace, he makes her wear a uniform and says horrible nasty things to her in order for her to anger her into saying and doing things. Finding out everything - the reasons, etc. is heartbreaking and I wanted to hurt him, with how he handled her and hurt himself as well. It actually made me sick to my stomach for a lot of the book. I have a love/ hate relationship with this book. There is a lot of horrifying things that happen in this book between Tressa & Altair. Finally, he admits that he bought her to be his wife and they actually talk and dispel some of the misunderstandings. I cried a lot while reading this book. There are a lot of shocking things that happen too. When the other servants begin to treat her like they hate her, it really bothered me, until they actually talked to her. Then I understood.
The book is not for the faint of heart and there are triggers in it. There are so many reasons behind everything that he does and she does. We find out about how her brother died and I cried some more over that. Once she finds out the truth, Tressa no longer wants to leave. So they finally talk, and there are some steamy parts there too and I needed the AC on for that. I was shocked over the ending.

This is the story of Altair Aurellion, a wyvern and Tressa, a human. When her father has just seven days to pay his debt or face death, Tressa is forced to take the only viable option to save him by selling herself at the bride market. She doesn’t expect to be bought by Altair, the person responsible for the death of her brother………..
This was a well written story with a simple plot and two interesting main characters. Despite being a novella it packed in enough of a background to the world to make sense, and I thought the idea of the bride market was an excellent one. The way Altair dealt with his feelings of guilt was well done, but the spicy scenes felt a bit wooden (no pun intended!). This was a new author for me, and I’ll be checking out the other books in this Monsters’ Bride Market series 🐈⬛.

With seven days to get the money for her father's debt, Tressa will do whatever she can to save him...again. That includes selling herself at the Monsters' Bride Market. What she doesn't expect is to be bought by the very man responsible for a death in her family.
This is a really good story, and while on the lower end of the spice scale, it was still really enjoyable. The characters are well developed, and I enjoyed getting to read the backstory for both characters and the trauma that it caused both them and their families.
Altair definitely takes some time to get to his true feelings, at first he treats Tressa as no better than dirt, but it seems to be partly down to him hiding his true feelings for her.
This is the first of the Monsters' Bride Market that I have read and I will definitely be back for more.
Tressa is out of options to save her only living family. Her father is a drunk and owes way more money then she can make doing her light job. It is not a job she would have taken but when you have no other options you do what you need to do. So she enters the monster bride market. She is willing to accept her fate that is until a blast from her past bids on her. Altair is a bit messed up in the mind but as the story progresses it becomes ones clear he is just a trauma survivor. They both lost a loved one fourteen years ago. Her brother Brandon and his chosen playmate. They have a very very rough start to their new relationship and it is a battle of wills. That is until it all becomes to much and Tressa is broken down enough to just do what she is told. The fight is gone. It shakes Altair so much the dynamics shift. From this point the healing starts for everyone in this castle.
Bought by the Wyvern takes readers on another romantic adventure with MFC Tressa who is forced to auction herself in the AliaTerra bride auction to obtain the money she needs to save her father from a gambling debt. Wyvern Lord of the house Aurellion has come to find himself a human wife to prove to his human abhorrent father that he Altair is nothing like his sire. His first surprise comes when he arrives at the auction and recognizes the woman currently on the block as she does him! I enjoyed this enemies-to-lovers romance that was nicely written with engaging characters and a narrative filled with the surprises, drama, family dynamics, personal vulnerability, passion, and spice that delivers a riveting and emotional read.

This was another well written addition to the series and this one takes quite the challenging journey to get to an HEA. Tressa needs money, fast, to pay off her drunk father's debts. The bride market is the best way to do this but she never expected that the male responsible for the loss of her brother's life to win her. Yikes! Altair has a traumatic past that also includes huge loss and his guilt is woven into everything he is. This made for a rough start but once the healing starts for both of them, these two find themselves with a hot romance. I did get a kick out of his anatomy, think things come better in two's ;P Overall, this was an interesting read with a slow burn romance and fab healing for two great characters. Good fun!
Im sad. I wasn't a fan of the Bride Market as I was the others. It "read" different for me
The Socialties between dragon vs human. If you know dragons you know they're a bit entitled. After a couple of tragic events... the human is struggling to keep herself and her father alive. When the last straw is broken by her not so helpful father. She only has one choice. He yeah, plays the mean too good. Its rare I don't like a Mmc. Lol but nope didnt like him. She's under his rule... but not as a wife. Their past never fades. Mysteries to tell? Events to learn. Can they get over their anger? Their guilt?
Altair, a dragon shifter, is shocked to find the human that he will purchase for a bride is someone he knew as a child. Tressa is just as surprised, but vehemently so. Read what prevents them from enjoying marital bliss and why Altair is overwhelmed by grief and self flagellation. This is a nice follow up to “Wed to the Dragon”, also by Wylde. Although the storyline for this book is solid, “Bought by the Revenant” will be hard for any author to surpass. Four stars 🌟 is a worthy rating. I received an ARC from the author and I am leaving an unbiased review voluntarily.
Tressa's father has finally gone too far, and she sees no way to save him but to sell herself at the Monster Bride Market. Altair has many reasons for choosing a human bride, but when he sees Tressa standing there, and selling herself to the highest bidder, he decides that no matter how much it costs he will have her. Wonderfully written and fascinating characters that have no intention of falling in love. These two kept me engaged and entertained from the first page. This is a short and steamy sci-fi romance with unexpected twists and a happily ever after. I loved this book and recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by Book Sprout.
What a tragic but romantic story. Tressa was a survivor, forced by circumstances beyond her ability to control. After a tragic death tore her family apart, two deaths and an alcoholic father put so much pressure on her she did what she had to do to survive. She sold herself at the Monster Bride Market. The monster who bought her, Altair, was a reminder of her past and her brother’s tragic death. But there was more to him than even she couldn’t know. I felt nothing but pity and an incredible sadness for both main characters but I’m thrilled they got their HEA.
'I’m a creature of possession. What is mine, remains mine. Forever.' FANtastic read! Luv'd everything about this story.
The plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. The characters drove the storyline and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

Finished reading this late last night. This was a well written romance lighter on spice, but I still enjoyed it. However there was a lot of angst if that's an issue for you as a reader, but It makes it so relieving when Altair and Tressa finally reach their happy ever after at the end. If you enjoy fantasy romance, Dragons, Enemies to Lovers all wrapped up in a contractual Marriage Agreement. Then I definitely recommend giving this book and the rest of the series a try.
A fantastic novella with a shockingly deep plot. It's always a compliment when they say the worst thing about you is that you're short. A great plot twist early on and holy tormented MMC Batman! They really are made for each other and the path they take to get to one another in the end is tormented and beautiful. A dash of spice and a HEA.

Tressa is in a tight spot. Since her mom passed dad has been floundering and the responsibilities have fallen on her shoulders. She makes a tough decision and doesn't look back. Altair is a jerk and I can't stand him at first. Once you finally learn his reasons, I understand but still don't like him much. There are better ways to deal with things. Tressa is a character I really enjoyed. She is a fighter and doesn't give up.
Years ago he's caused the tragedy that killed her brother and destroyed her family. Now to save her father and best friend, she must sell herself on the bride market. He buys her in hopes of punishing himself for the tragedy he caused. Now they must either find a way to overcome past sorrows or destroy each other.
This was very well-written, and the chemistry between these two makes for a fun read. So much history between them makes for a very interesting story. There is a lot for this couple to overcome in order for them to move forward with their relationship. This story will keep you wanting to keep reading and the ending is so worth the whole read!
This is a lovely, short read. Really enjoyed the dynamic between these two, and how it shifted part way through. Altair is not what you think! Felt a bit rushed to me though, not so much a criticism but more that I think this particular story lent itself to being a full length novel and being fleshed out a bit more with the serious nature of some of the themes. I wanted more!
Tressa joins the Bride Market to save her father again. Altair is looking for a wife and refuses to leave without her. These two are gluttons for their own punishment. A tale of tortured pasts and self destruction with a well earned HEA!.

Altair is the epitome of a tortured hero. When he buys Tessa at the bride market his reasons are complicated and not what Tessa thinks. This is an angst filled read with great characters and a strong female who won't back down.

I loved that both of these characters were not the perfect person. That thy were both flawed and that someone can love a person that way too. ( even if that person directly hurt you) Of course the multiple parts helped as well. Even tho this was a short novella it had all the story. Just love that this series is more challenging than cozy.
This is an intense paranormal book. Tressa hates Altair, and now he has bought her at the marriage mart. It took me a little while to understand what was happening, but when I did, it broke my heart. This is a fantastic book with an absolutely perfect happy ending. It is a book that is worth a reread!

Dark History Tressa is desperate, so desperate she’ll sell herself at auction to the man whose family killed her brother and cast out her family. These two are vicious to each other, until truths are revealed. Altair is hard to like until near the end of this story, but Tressa’s character was admirable. Challenging, but I enjoyed this addition to Monster Brides Market.
Another enjoyable read in this Monster Bride's Market series. Loving all these books so far and others by this talented collection of writers. Short reads and packed tension, banter and opposites who eventually come together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So far, I’ve loved all of the Monster Bride books I’ve read, and this one is no different. I love reading Tressa and Altair’s story about misunderstandings and second chances.

Nothing like a second chance to make amends, but can the MMC change his arrogant ways to become a nicer version of himself? A short novella story with minimal spice, this enemies to lovers fantasy hits the spot.
I was intrigued by this story for about the first third. It had a really fresh storyline but it went from intriguing to lukewarm everything. Ms. Wylde is a better writer than what this book represents.
Wasn't sure I would enjoy this one because of the arrogance of the wyvern but it turned out he was quite a tortured soul and the only thing I could heal him was a human bride
