He saw her first. He’s never stopped watching. And now, he’s never leaving.
Candace spent years burying the past–hiding the scars, pretending she was normal. Safe. No one knows what really happened to her; not her best friend, nor the world she carefully keeps at arm’s length.
But Noah Gaines knows.
Fresh out of prison and back in town, her best friend's older brother isn’t the same boy she once knew. He’s harder, darker. And he’s been watching her for years.
She should be terrified. She should run. She should lock her doors and pretend he isn't out there in the shadows, waiting.
But when everything she’s built begins to crumble, she realizes something horrifying.
Maybe she was never meant to be safe.
Maybe she was always meant to be his.

Some people balance life with yoga and green smoothies. Myranda does it with school pickup lines, candles, and just enough coffee to power through another steamy chapter.
A mom of five and an author for about the same number of years, Myranda spends her days teaching her kids survival skills and her nights wrangling possessive alien warlords, broody shifters, and dangerously irresistible men who love just a little too hard.
When she's not writing, you can probably find her crafting with her kids, scrolling Zillow for houses she'll never be able to afford, or “just browsing” IKEA (we all know how that ends).
Follow her if spicy romance or chaotic mom life speaks to you because her books will always speak for themselves.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
'In His Bones' is a spicy, stalker, dark romance novel that is a bit out of my comfort zone of what I typically read. The book has a few scenes that may be triggering to some, so I strongly advise checking the content warnings prior to picking this up.
In the novel we follow our FMC Candace, who finds herself in a really unhappy relationship with her boyfriend. He is extremely wealthy, while Candace comes from a poorer background, and he lords this socioeconomic gap over her with little regard for her feelings and opinions. Enter Noah, Candace's best friend's brother, fresh out of prison after accidentally killing one of their acquaintances in a car accident. What ensues is Candace realising that Noah is obsessed with her and will do anything to protect her and keep her safe, irrespective of the risks.
What I enjoyed about the novel was the pacing, I felt like the novel kicked off really quickly and we learnt a lot of the background around the characters and their trauma early on. I also enjoyed Candace and the character arc that she undergoes, it's nice to see her realise her worth and gain some confidence in herself as the story progresses.
Some things that irked me a little was just how possessive Noah becomes of Candace, I fully understand that appeal of a dominant MMC, but I didn't enjoy how hyper dependant Candace became of him. She repeatedly says that she is safe because she knows he's watching, and while I do appreciate this being a trauma response to recurrent events in her life, I really would have loved if the role he played encouraged her to be more self assured and empowered.
Overall, an enjoyable read that I devoured in one day!
📚✨ ARC REVIEW ✨📚 In His Bones by Myranda Rae ⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 (3.25/5 stars)
Candace has been hiding how broken she feels after a traumatic event five years ago. No one knows what truly happened that night… except Noah.
Noah is freshly out of prison and, after a lifetime of longing and an intense history of stalking, he’s ready to finally make Candace his. When he learns she’s in danger, he’ll stop at nothing to protect her—no matter how unhinged it gets.
This book was a wild ride. Don’t let the pretty cover fool you—definitely check the trigger warnings. Noah is as morally black as they come, waving every red flag possible… and I was honestly kind of into it. He’s unapologetic about who he is, and I love that for him.
Candace’s journey into embracing her darker desires was unhingedly steamy. Watching her step into her own sexual power, trusting Noah enough to explore things she’s never let herself consider, made them feel like perfect, chaotic soulmates.
If you’re craving a super dark romance full of spice, obsession, and primal play, In His Bones needs to be on your TBR.
Tropes: 🌑 Dark romance | 🖤 Morally black hero | 👀 Stalker | 🐺 Primal play | 🚩 Red flag MMC | 💔 Dark trauma | 🔄 Dual POV
📚 I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 📃
🫢Guys. This is spicy🌶. There was plenty of spice and some scenes surprised me 🫢 Beyond the obvious spicy content, the plot flowed nicely and made sense. I found myself really involved in it and was excited to see how everything would play out😊 There is some really dark romance in this. The MMC is morally gray so don't expect him not to be✨️ I rated this one 4/5 because I have to be honest. 🤷♀️ I know this is fiction, BUT throughout the book, I felt like the author tried to keep it real about how trauma affects the characters. However, I really don't find it realistic that a person who goes through what the FMC goes through in the story would be ready/enjoy/pursue spicy things so fast and so freely. 🤔 Maybe it's just my personal opinion, or maybe since it's fiction, it wasn't intended to be representative. But I got confused as some parts were realistically possible and others not. 📚 I hope everyone takes my opinion with a grain of salt, as it's just that—an opinion. 🙏
I REALLY hope everyone will give this book a chance because It’s honestly such a nice read! ❤️ As always, I'm grateful to have been chosen to receive an ARC and leave a review ❤️
This book was completely out of my normal genre but grabbed me from page one! I think I may have found my new obsession!!
The spice in this book is FIRE!! Noah’s obsession with Candace is both beautiful and scary! Everything Noah does is for Candice.
You know you shouldn’t root for the but how could you not, when the book dedication says “Noah is a bad guy; he does bad guy shit.” !?!?
This book is filled with suspense, drama, stalker/ obsession romance, touch her and die, and a ton of “good girl” moments. This book will live rent free in my head for a long time to come.
“I’m going to cut your tongue out. Apologize for what you just called her, and I might consider letting you keep it.”
Myranda Rae really drags you into her writing and leaves it with you long after you have finished reading it! You will not want to miss this beautifully written dark romance.
Thank you to the author for this advanced readers copy. It is my honor to leave my honest opinion.
Shout out to Myranda Rae for sending an ARC copy my way 🥹🫶🏼.
First and foremost, I am a dark romance girly through and throooouuughhhh so this book was right up my alley, and I aaaaaaaate this book up 🤏🏼🤏🏼🤏🏼🤏🏼.
The sexual tension between the FMC and the MMC is craaaaazy and to know he fell first, chefs kiss 🤌🏼. I know best friends brothers aren’t for everyone but dare I say it’s one of my top 5 micro tropes? 😭 Sue me!! The plot brought me in, but the spice kept me there 🌶️🥵
Check the trigger warnings!!!! What I read may not be what you read and that’s okay ☺️.
If you’re looking for a quick stalker romance, best friends brothers, touch her and you die, he falls first, HEA and did I mention it’s dual POV? Yah, we get the MMC’s POV - then this is for you 🤩

This book is DARK, steamy, and dripping in .... well you know.
Candace is a woman haunted by her past to the point it stunts her ability to feel pleasure. Nevermind she's engaged to an obnoxiously wealthy condescending jerk. Little does she know her best friend's brother, Noah, has been "stalking" her for years. And he just got out of prison and is ready to claim what is his.
This book has everything - plot, spice, money, power, motive, incredible internal dialogue, you might even catch yourself doing a one handed read if ya know what I mean. Morally black is my new favorite color cause Noah is everything I didn't know I wanted. 🫣
I was in the middle of another series but I thought I would read the first chapter of this book to get an idea of what it was like…and I couldn’t /wouldn’t put it down. It’s everything I’ve come to expect from MYRANDA RAE with the tension, mystery, intensity and spice but never stops getting better. I read it once and I immediately feel like I need to reread it because nothing else compares. Candace and Noah are EVERYTHING! I excuse me while I go start from page 1 again…and then go reread PINK for the 3rd time because…because!
Reading Myranda’s other stories are sweet and mostly light but this story takes the prize for the darkness! It’s kind of sadistic and kind of brutal, if you ask me, but it also romanticizes their love and utter devotion to each other… kind of makes me desire a love like theirs! Really it’s a fantastic read, maybe not for the faint of heart or those who are sensitive to the darkness that is written beautifully here though!! Check it out and live a few moments in the darkness!
I devoured this book in a single sitting! The MMC Noah just gets more and more unhinged as the book goes on. I loved seeing the lengths he would go to keep Candace safe. Let’s not forget about the tension they have before he finally gets his way 🤭 If you need a best friends brother/touch her and die trope combo with an HEA, then this is the book for you!
Calling all dark romance people: pick this one up! (Check those TW of course!!)
In His Bones has a perfect blend of plot and spice. It explored some heavy topics but it was done very well. I wish we got more of Noah's POV, and how he pulled off what he did but overall I really enjoyed this book!
Thank you to Myranda Rae for providing me with an ARC copy of this book
This book is dark, obsessive, and beautifully unhinged! The way the MMC (Noah) obsesses over the FMC (Candace) is feral! Noah might just be morally black instead of morally grey!
Extremely spicy ✔️ MMC falls in love first ✔️ Stalker romance ✔️ Best friend’s brother ✔️ Touch her and you die ✔️ HEA ✔️
If you’re into questionable morally grey with emotional damage then this one hits.
I was lucky enough to be approved for an advanced copy of this book and let me say I ate it right up! As a huge fan of stalker/obsessive romance, this book certainly did not disappoint. I’ll definitely be checking out more by Myranda Rae!
This book needs be next big thing on booktok! The characters are amazing. Noah morally gray but also a cinnamon roll. I had privilege reading this as arc and it definitely in my top 10 books I read of 2025
check the trigger warnings!!! This is a Dark Romance with a Morally Gray MMC. so expect him to be dark. The writing was good. I didn't really connect with the FMC and the MMC. although I think I connected more with the MMC. It was overall a good book, just not my cup of tea.
The cover was so pretty, I was not expecting it to get super dark, oh boy but it did and it was glorious! Lots of hot spice, and lots of blood! If you love a dark romance, touch her and die, stalker unaliver, this is definitely the book for you!!!
Absolutely loved this book I read it in less then a day I couldn’t put it down. If you loved dark romance then this book is definitely for you. MMC is best friends older brother he’s obsessed stalks her touch her and die vibes can’t wait to check out some more of her books
“I’m going to make sure there’s not a single inch of you left that doesn’t belong to me.” One of my favorite authors I discovered last year was Myranda Rae. Seeing the gorgeous and unique cover made me want to read it ASAP. It was love at first sight 😍 The MMC was so unhinged and down bad for the FMC, I LOVED IT. Myranda is definitely on my radar to read more of after this.
